My hockey hero would like a quickie!

It's update time! *cue the party music*

I've been working on a bit this week, getting the framework set (once you read it, you'll know why this is kind of a big deal--there's a LOT going on for Chloe and Tyler in this book). No preorder or release date yet, but this is the place to be for that--you'll get the news first as soon as it's set. Swearsies!

But until then, I wanted to share a book you might have missed. I know, I know. "How could I possibly miss a sizzling hot hockey playing hero who falls directly into your firehouse, Kincaid?!" It does happen, because we can't read 24/7 even though we allllllll want to. But if you did miss out on Finn Donnelly and January Sinclair's steamy second-chance romance, here's what I tell you to make it better:

1. Although Deep Check is part of the Station Seventeen series, it's a true standalone. I wrote it as part of an anthology, so really. It's a STANDALONE :)

2. Yes, you'll still see characters you recognize if you've read the S17 books. No, there won't be spoilers. Yes, there's even a pretty covert hint at Ryan and Addison hooking up eventually (that's The Rogue).

3. January is Sergeant Sinclair's (from the Intelligence Unit books) daughter, and he pops in on this one, too.

4. I saved the best for last. Three words: The. Shower. Scene.

Even better, Deep Check can be read in a couple hours. So, really, if you haven't read it...now's the time!

Sam Faurier is in deep trouble...

Let's review!

Sam Faurier is in deep trouble.

Which normally wouldn’t be a problem for an elite firefighter with razor-sharp instincts and cocky bravado to spare. Except this time, his impulsive decision on a call got fellow firefighter, Lucy de Costa, into hot water, too.
Did he mention that he’s had an unrequited crush on her for years? Or that she’s the battalion chief’s by-the-book daughter?

Or that the call that got them both benched was actually arson, only Sam can’t prove it without help?

YES, there's a free prequel with bonus content NOT in the book

💥Boiling Point

YES, you can keep reading this scorching hot forbidden lovers firefighter romance right up to the pulse-pounding HEA

💥Sizzle

Surprise (FREE) release + book bonus for The Agent

Flirting with Danger is live and ready for your eyeballs!

This is a prequel to The Agent that WILL NOT be in the book. There's exclusive content here that can only be read in this "extra".

Please note: There was honestly no way for me to write this without dropping some spoilers from The Guardian. I tried my best to keep it vague, but if you have not read The Guardian, I'd suggest doing that before you dive into this.

There's also a very special preorder bonus for The Agent that is open until the day before release. Everyone who preorders the book and signs up for the bonus will receive an exclusive Intelligence Unit epilogue featuring EVERY couple in the series! It's entirely free to everyone who preorders and signs up--so make sure you check out my website to reserve yours today!

In the meantime, here's Flirting With Danger!

She’s the only woman who can bring him to his knees.

FBI Agent Kai Roman’s nickname is The Iceman.
He doesn’t do emotions, and after losing his wife in a tragic accident five years ago, he definitely doesn’t do anything as dangerous as love.

Impulsively flirting with his enemy’s little sister? That he does.
He just didn’t expect Camila to flirt back—
or to want her so much.

But when the radio silence after their one night of wanting
ends in the two of them being caught in a bank robbery,
Roman finds himself having to protect the one woman he can’t have…

******
Flirting With Danger is a FREE short, sexy prequel to the full-length standalone, The Agent. It contains loads of banter, scorching heat, and ends in a cliffhanger that leads to the novel. Detective Kai Roman first appears in The Guardian. This prequel contains spoilers to that title. For maximum enjoyment, recommended reading order is 1. The Guardian 2. Flirting With Danger 3. The Agent

Better Late Than Never! Shameless Book Signing Recap

Yes, I know this signing was in November, which makes me super tardy on this post. Sadly, I ended up testing positive for Covid a few days after I came home from this event, and it wiped me OUT. Then the holidays were here, and life got crazy. But I would be suuuuuuper remiss if I didn't share the highlights with you. It was THAT fun!

This event is truly always one of my favorites, and I hadn’t been since 2019 (I’m giving you more side-eye, Covid) I got to meet and see so many of you this year, and I loved every second. Here are some fun pictures from the very last Shameless Book Signing!

Me with model Eric Guilmette (on both The Rookie and Crossing Hope), photographer Christopher John, and cover model Brock Grady (on The Saint)

Cover model, Brock Grady (you’ll recognize him from the cover of The Saint), hung out with me at my table, and we had the best time signing books for readers and taking loads of photos and just generally having a blast. We went the whole six hours with barely a lull, so by the end, we were pretty loopy–I bet you can–but my face actually hurt from all the smiling and laughing.

With Xio Axelrod and Nina Crespo, two of my favorite authors!

I truly had the best time. I'm looking forward to 2023 events--I'll be at Apollycon in Washington DC in April for sure! Stay tuned to the Appearances page on my website for all the latest on where I'll be this year. I can't wait to see everyone!

All * The * Books! Buckle up for 2023!

Grab your favorite beverage and your TBR list. We're gonna preview 2023 in this post, and the year is already PACKED! I'm so excited to bring you both contemporary romance and romantic suspense. Here we go...

1. My VIP Readers will get not one, not two, but THREE gift e-books every month. To get these, all you have to do is become a VIP (if you're not already) by joining on my website and open your emails when you see them. Yes, I know that sounds a little weird. YES, there are people who subscribe but don't open and miss out on legally free books. Don't let that be you!

2. I'm updating and re-releasing all of the Pine Mountain books this year. They're being edited for better readability and added steam (ooolala!) and they're all getting brand-new looks. Sugar and Spice is out now, with Turn Up the Heat arriving on 2/7.

3. I'm finishing the Intelligence Unit series in July with The Agent: An Intelligence Unit novel. It WILL have an exclusive series epilogue as a preorder-only bonus, so make sure you snap it up. For real. FOR REAL! And stay tuned for a free prequel coming your way in time for the cover reveal on 2/14.

4. I'll have books in KU! The Pine Mountain books will be wide for preorder and release week, then they'll ALL be going into KU. If you buy books from vendors other than the Zon, make sure you preorder these if you want them!

5. You get more firefighters! I'm starting the S17 Rescue Squad series late this year. Sam Faurier, Tyler Gates, Dallas Garrity, and Gabe Hawkins will all get books in this series.
I'll be part of at least one anthology this year (YAY!) but I can't say more than that for now. I promise you'll know as soon as I can, though! Stay tuned.

I am SO excited for this year and all the fun things it'll bring to this group and to our e-readers. The best way to get all the extras (first looks, cover reveals, big sales, free reads) is to be a VIP (see above!) and to stay tuned to this group regularly. Every year, I have at least a few folks tell me they missed out on a special offer (bonus epilogues in particular) because they didn't see it. I absolutely promise you that I will talk about these special extras a LOT in both the VIP newsletter and this group. All you have to do is show up and read! ❤️

So, this is happening...

🤩🤩 MASSIVE NEWS 🤩🤩

Nearly 50 authors - all NEW content - all for you! My contribution will be Dallas Garrity's long-awaited story, and will lead in to the S17 Rescue Squad series.

This is a brand-new project starting in August, but you can get in on it NOW.

Every month, the Happily Ever After Collective will deliver exclusive romance novellas from best selling, award winning authors who know how to deliver that HEA romance reader crave. This project is unique because it's Patreon-based. Stay with me here--I would not lead you astray! Patreon is easy to use and it lets you choose what you get. You are in charge of the WHOLE thing.

Subscribers (you!) will get to choose as many as four never-before-published novellas each month (depending on subscription tier), participate in live chats with authors, and receive exclusive content.

Some of the highlights:

Four exclusive never-before-published novellas each month that span the romance subgenres with main characters who show that romance is for everyone. Readers will get to choose which novellas they want according to their subscription tier.

Each month’s novellas will center around the same trope. That trope will change each month so that one month may be fake relationships while the next month is friends to lovers, for example.

At least one of each month’s novellas will feature LGBTQI+ main characters.
At least one of each month’s novellas will feature BIPOC main characters.

Readers can participate in monthly subscriber-only interaction with the authors in the form of Zoom chats and extra content from each author that ties into the novellas.

Exclusive Happily Ever After Collective digital book covers for each novella, perfect for those readers who are also cover collectors.

A newsletter with information about each month’s novellas, featured authors and all of the HEA Collective authors’ new releases and sales.

I hope you’ll check it out → www (dot) HappilyEverAfterCollective (dot) com and sign up for the newsletter. Soft launch July 1 with August being the first four story month!

I'm so excited for this project! The only way to get in on this is to subscribe to the newsletter for your monthly update. This is where you'll get to see the tropes and story titles, and choose how many you want to gobble up--I mean, READ--each month. Dallas Garrity and I will see you there!

And if you want to check Garrity out in the meantime, grab In Too Deep, where you'll get a yummy sneak peek!

What's in a name, anyway?

I had a great question from a lovely reader last week, and I wanted to share. She asked how I choose my titles. So, here's a little story about The Rogue...

I map my books out pretty far in advance of release. The whole series is planned at the beginning. But I almost always have a pretty good idea of how I want to work the relationships (the suspense, I do much later, usually right before I start the book)

So, I knew that Ryan and Addison were a couple, and I knew that he was going to have a pretty reckless personality. But what makes him a rogue actually has more to do with what he's not. Ryan is the only hero in this series who isn't a cop. Hence...The Rogue 😉

And just in case you haven't snapped this baby up, you can grab it right here The Rogue

This is not the cover for The Rookie

This is not the cover for The Rookie.

Remember how I told you in my previous post that I planned all the couples in the Remington series before I even typed Chapter One in Deep Trouble? (more on Deep Trouble in another post!) Well, Kennedy's brother, Xander, was supposed to get a novella in the Station Seventeen series called Deep Cover. It was going to come right after Down Deep and it was going to get this sizzling hot cover image shot by photographer Wander Aguiar.

But then.

I knew I wanted to pair Xander up with the tough-as-nails ADA who'd lobbied to throw him in jail (hi, Tara!) I also knew I wanted him to have a redemption story (bad-boy-turned-good-man) and that redemption usually takes time.

Dangit!

I very reluctantly put him on hold and decided to dive directly into the Remington Medical series so Xander could have time to go to the police academy and start his rookie year as a patrol officer. But by the time I got to his book, I knew it would kick the Intelligence series off and NOT be part of the Station Seventeen series, so this photo, which I'd originally intended to be the cover image, didn't work anymore. I was SO sad not to use it (although I do use it to this day in ads and social media posts, because yummmm!)

Tell me, Tasties! Have you read The Rookie? How do you feel about redemption stories? And what about the cover The Rookie ended up with? #swoon
