The Leaf, the Dark and the Light

I was walking across a parking lot recently. Among the leaves that littered the area, I noticed one that was half eaten away. I could still make out its shape. Against the black asphalt and among all of the other leaves, it looked small, meaningless, insignificant and powerless. It’s colors were muted and it looked hopelessly lost among all the other leaves. It would have probably decomposed without as much as a whisper on humanity.

I picked it up and held it up to the light and this is what I saw: A beautiful and delicate leaf of rich, vibrant color. And, because much of it was eaten away, it had an amazing lace-like pattern that made it even more interesting and beautiful. Instead of a leaf that was dying, I saw a leaf that was being transformed. I saw purpose and an order that only the light could reveal.

Perhaps this leaf is very much like you and me. At times, we feel small, meaningless, insignificant, powerless and broken. But when we are held up to the light, our unique beauty is revealed. God holds each one of us up to the light – broken, imperfect, and dying as we may be. God is the light.

Stop. Hold yourself and hold others up to the light. Take the time to see the beauty that is revealed.

Heart Pounding Suspense Co-mingled With Profound Thought

RabbitsTaleCover

Diogenes Ruiz has written a page-turner at which even big pharma might gasp. Well drawn characters never lose their lines. Perfect timing delivers delightful, frightful, and hilarious bombshells and quips. (shades of Carl Hiaasen) Anchored in the childhood of its two main characters,  a good boy and a bad one, they lose track of one another in adulthood. The sadistic bully is a dangerous criminal. The good boy attempts to have a good life and normal marriage. The finale offers heart pounding suspense co-mingled with profound thought. Thank heaven “Persistent Evil” is not far off!

Easter Bunny Romance?

Bunny Romance

I’m not sure what’s going on in this picture. Well, that’s not true. I do know what’s going on. EB denies that it’s him in the photo. He claims that it’s some other rabbit. (yeah right!)  But, he’s wearing your tie! I told him. Still, he claims there are lots of ties that look like that. Is anybody buying this? What advice should I give EB. What would you say to my rabbit friend?

Gotta Watch

Vinio Staff Pick

SAMSARA food sequence from Baraka & Samsara on Vimeo.

Is this what God had in mind when he breathed life into us?

Most of the time EB and I post things that are light and funny. Today is an exception. Don’t want to bum anybody out but this is really worth watching.
