stars-5-0._V192240867_Bridge Through Time

By Ronesa – Mystical Emona series on June 29, 2015

Format: Kindle Edition

“Bridge Through Time” immediately grabbed my attention. Alien contact! I fretted along with Max that he might have altered history with his time travel. The beginning of this story was a bit of a tease, however. I thought it would be about the aliens whom the author described in such vivid detail, but then the story focused more on the ADHD his sons Kyle and Peter suffered (mostly Kyle). After that it switched to Kyle’s point of view, as he dealt with his problem while managing to become a celebrated physicist. Don’t get me wrong, the aliens do make an occasional appearance and they are the force behind all the changes that take place in society, but they do so in the background and are more of the catalyst that gets the story moving forward.

The story has a deeper meaning as well. It delves into socio-political issues. Is saving millions of lives worth the cost of freedom? Are we so easily led that we’ll give up our ambitions and ability to govern ourselves for the price of entertainment? Plus the problem of ADHD in society and how to overcome it.

This is a well-written book that entertains from start to finish. It goes into the physics of parallel universes, but is not written beyond the comprehension of most readers. I’m sure it’s one that sci-fi fans and others will enjoy as well.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book has forbidden love… passion and violence…

http://thereadingbud.com/2015/06/01/book-review-delusional/

Plot/Story:

I must say that this story was surprisingly quick read and even though I am not must a fan of Romance based stories, this story did made me fall in-love with the story and the characters.

At first you have two storied that slowly being combined together. From the beginning of the story you are kept in suspense of who is the thief of the Hope diamond and why or how Patricia has her hallucinations and delusions.

Characters:

The characters are well written and well plotted out. The author placed so much thought and care for the characters that as a reader you get deeply involved with their lives and thoughts.

Romance/Kills:

This book has forbidden love of Patricia and Paul, passion and violence all written in such a way that left you thinking of what will happen next.

I felt I could read it a second time

5First Contact might not be what you expect

By Emanuel Grigorason May 27, 2015

Format: Kindle Edition

Bridge Through Time is a book that gets from me the best comment I can give to a book: I felt I could read it a second time and love it the same way. It’s not the first book written by Scott I read, but it is my favorite.

From the first pages I got emerged into a time and place where time travel and aliens are possible. Most books have strong first sentence and after they fade. It takes at least a dozen pages to pick up the interest of the reader. Bridge Through Time keeps up the pace in every chapter until the end.

Is well written and well thought. From the story line to the behavior of the characters that is definitely one that I’ve witnessed at most Canadians I’ve met. One of the strong points of this book is the description of the loss felt by one of the main characters, Max. He remembers the previous timeline, in which he had a different family, and mourns their disappearance as well as letting all his grief to influence the present timeline.

Half into the book the main character becomes Max’s son. He lives a different story. A blend of romance and balancing acts in two realities in which aliens modify the future in order to conquer Earth in the only way that works nowadays: economic war.

The end is somewhat open. I can’t help but wonder if there are more books to follow in this series.

Review

Plot/Story:

It was not a fast pace read or a slow one, but it had a perfect pace and as a reader (even an adult reader) this was a fun read. This was a very thought off book and the author too the time to show us all that was needed to be shown: Like the magic, it was almost at arm reach. You could see the magic so well and it was undeniable real. This book contains everything a great book needs: A strong character, a villain, magic, strange creatures and many adventures. The story takes on a lots of serious topics as bulling, but Tyler goes through them with optimism and a fun way.

Characters:

Tyler is such a strong and lovable kid and we can all relate to his insecurities. Dirk is the magical alien friend and he tries to help Tyler as much as he can. It reminds me a lot of the invisible friends most of us had as kids and the adventures we took with them.

Romance/Kills:

There is love in the story, but in a very small way. If I will tell you anything more it won’t be a spoiler free.

Writing:

This book is definitely for kids or for people who had kids. As an adult reading this story, I still enjoyed the writing style of the author and the adventures that Tyler had to go through. I love the happiness and joy the author spread all around the book, it was a nice change.

Beginning:

The story begins with Tyler and he sees and feel how alone he is and just then when he wishes he had a best friend, comes Dirk. The beginning really set the mood of the entire story.

Ending:

The ending was a bit sad, but saying goodbye and especially to a kid can be very sad.

Blurb:

The blurb was very inviting and teasing of what yet to come.

Other Stuff

Cover Art:

The cover art is very nice, but it lacks a bit. It’s a bit too simple for a kid’s book.

Other Stuff

Opening Line: “That looks like a UFO spaceship, with a dome at the top… 11-year-old Tyler Dunsmore lay on the grassy meadow, staring straight up at the puffy, marshmallow-like cumulus clouds above.”

Highlights: I love the adventures a lot, the author wrote them in a very nice way, that made me love the story even more.

Lowlights: None.

Final Thoughts: This is a very light and fun read. If you have kids I assure you they will love this book a lot.

Charming fantasy for the pre-teen crowd
ByKSFon May 11, 2015
Format: Kindle Edition
Wizard Planet, the second in the My Wizard Buddy series, describes Tyler’s adventures when he goes to his wizard buddy Dirk’s home planet, where everyone has magical abilities. The setting is vividly described and sure to spark the imagination of the pre-teen audience. There’s plenty of action, but little real violence. (Paintball guns substitute for real guns, and bullying teen wizards know they aren’t allowed to kill Tyler.) Bullying and prejudice are raised in nuanced tones that give the story a bit of moral fortitude without devolving into preaching.

My only criticism is that Tyler gets rescued a bit too often. It is only during his encounter with the Yeti that Tyler shows brilliance and courage and manages to escape unaided. Otherwise, either Dirk or a lawyer that represents him is responsible for getting him out of trouble. This doesn’t detract noticeably from the story, however. Young readers will probably not realize it.
