The Best of the Atlantic Coast Bicycle Tour

Last summer, Debbie and I enjoyed a long distance bicycle touralong Adventure Cycling Association’s Atlantic Coast route. Here are some of the locations along the way that piqued my interest:

From the natural beauty of this well-designed bicycle path, to the roar of jet engines at neighboring Reag...

Spring Training

It’s been a long winter in New England. Even though the Massachusetts winter doesn’t really compare with what I Go Baby Go!experienced for most of my life in Maine, it creates the same longing for warmer days and summertime activities. One of those activities, of course, is bicycle riding. Debbie and I blew the dust from our bikes two weekends ago. Even with five layers of clothing on my torso, I was still uncomfortable in the brisk air.Since last weekend’s weather was more forgiving, we’re well on our...

Recent News on Two Are Better

Much is happening at Open Road Press as we march toward a May publication date for Two Are Better: Midlife Newlyweds Bicycle Coast to Coast. First, in early April, Alycia Brandt and Mike Lawton of WMCT-TV in Marlborough visited Debbie and I for an interview about our cross-country bicycle trip. The interview aired on our local cable access station (Verizon fios channel 34) this past weekend. Using some still shots from our first trip blog, they put together a wonderful piece. Making Sense of the Senseless

It was a tough week in the Boston area–and in all of America–given the Boston Marathon bombing and the manhunt that followed. We sat watching the drama unfold in front of our television sets, wondering what would drive someone to commit such heinous crimes and insane acts. In this era of instant information, we had a heaping helping that nearly choked us–until the good guys won.

This is no longer new to us. We’ve been here before. The stage may be different, but the act is not. Bravado, defian...

When Silence Becomes Deafening

HourglassAt church today,a female physician described a calling that she hassensedto serve in Afghanistan. Now in her mid-thirties, she explained how God has been preparing herfor years to help meet the medical needs of those in what is anextremely dangerous and potentially lonely place. Her calling is confirmed by her eagerness to immerse herself into this perilous, yet humanitarian, adventure. For her, the waiting has been excruciating. When “silence” lingers to limbo, one begins to wonder when the t...

When cycling begins, you’ll have enough on your mind without having to chase loose ends that you can address now. Hereare some things to consider at this stage:

The Best that Time Offers

Time begins and time ends

Time begins and time ends

Have you ever considered that we’ve all been given the same amount of time each day to get things done, to enjoy life, and to find satisfaction and fulfillment?
