Money ~ Power ~ Fame

Kelsey Connor

Growing up in the arms of one of the wealthiest families in America, I lived a champagne lifestyle and never wanted for anything.

That life came with stipulations...
1. Marry the man I don't love.
2. Make my parents proud.

WRONG.

I left my Manolos and fancy apartment behind and fled that life to find out who I really was.

Someone unexpected bulldozed my life.

Riley Jackson

He was the man everyone, including me, wanted, but his future was one I wasn't sure I wanted to thrust myself back into. And when he chose a career over the family business, his family supported him instead of pushing him away.

My past collided with my future.

I didn't see it coming. If I had I would've ran far, far away.

Now I'm stuck in the same position I started in two years ago, except this time, the decision is not mine to make.

Loyalty to your family?
Loyalty to your own happiness?

Which would you choose?

Tiffany is twenty-eight, a mother to two wonderful kids, married to her best friend, and lives in Georgia.

She's always held a passion for writing and loves, loves, loves to read.

Now, Schooner Moore and Mia Silver face the ultimate challenge - were they really meant to be together or will their pasts continue to tear them apart?

On the heels of the birth of their newborn son, Nathaniel, Schooner and Mia must decide if their love and loyalty to one another is strong enough to learn to grow together as a couple or if the life they always dreamed of sharing was better left as a teenage fantasy.

Moore To Lose by Julie A Richman
(Book Two: Needing Moore Series)
Damn, this woman could bring him to his knees. There they were - both standing there, naked. Vulnerable. The truth was finally out. And if he was standing there high on the edge of a cliff, he wasn't standing there alone anymore. Mia had joined him. She was as bold and fearless as she'd always been. This was the Mia Silver with whom he had fallen hopelessly in love.

"We're going to be ok, Mia," he reassured her. He wasn't going to allow himself to believe anything else. He could picture her shaking her head yes on the other end of the phone as he heard her trying to hide her tears. He pictured gently wiping them away with his thumb.

"You promise, Schooner?"And as always with Mia, making a promise was so damn easy. "I promise, Baby Girl."

Release Blitz: A Will to Change by Beth Rinyu

Title: A Will to ChangeAuthor: Beth RinyuGenre: Contemporary RomanceRelease Date: June 26thEvent Organised by: Just One More Romance

In A Cry for Hope you meet Jamie’s carefree younger brother, Will. Now read his story…

Will McAdams is a New York City firefighter who has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, never quite measuring up to his parents standards. He lives his life without regrets, and answers to no one. The women love him and he uses that to his advantage, making it clear that he only has one use for them.

Gabby Spencer is a nurse in the burn unit of a busy New York City hospital. Her guarded personality doesn’t allow many people into her life and her patients take the place of her lack of family. She masks the pain that she is harboring deep inside with quick wit and sarcasm.

When Will becomes one of Gabby’s patients they form a special bond and soon become each other's solace. But Will doesn’t see her like every other woman in his life. She means the world to him and he feels an underlying need to always protect her – most of all from himself. Even though he wants her more than he’s ever wanted any other woman, he’s not willing to take that next step and jeopardize everything they have. When jealousy and pain begin to overtake their once perfect friendship, will Will's fear of falling in love and never measuring up, cause him to lose the one and only woman to ever own his heart?

Gabby rambled on until our food came, only stopping when her eyes lit up at the size of her burger.

“Told ya!” I teased.

“Told me what?” she asked, taking a bite from her fry.

“I saw the look on your face when you saw the size of that burger.”

“This little thing?” she asked, looking down at her plate. I nodded. “Oh please, Will. I’ve had bigger ones than this in my mouth.” I almost spit my ice tea all over the place. “I meant burgers, pervert!”

“Mmm hmmm, I bet you did!” She smirked as she smothered her burger in ketchup and relish. “Geez, Gabby. Why don’t you have some burger with your ketchup and relish?”

“I love ketchup!” she said, licking it off her fingers.

“I can see that!”

“Don’t you?” she asked, opening her mouth wide and taking a bite.

“Yeah, but not half the bottle. Definitely not relish, though.”

“Mmmm….you don’t know what you’re missing!” she said, taking another huge bite. “Here, taste.” She held the burger up to my mouth.

“Gabby, it’s drenched in -.”

“Come on, Will. Don’t be afraid to try new things.” I opened my mouth and took a bite. It wasn’t half bad. “Not bad, is it?” she asked with her adorable grin as she picked up the napkin and wiped the ketchup off my face.

I took the top bun from my burger. “Lay it on me, Gabby girl!”

She held her hand up to give me a high five before picking up the bottle of relish and ketchup. “Woohoo! Sister Gabby has made you see the error of your ways. Bless you, Will,” she giggled.

She squirted on the ketchup and relish, and lifted her burger up to her mouth. “Come on, Will. Let’s do it together,” she teased in an overly sexy voice.

“You are a piece of work, you know that?” I chuckled.

She took a bite of her burger at the same time as me. I never thought that someone could actually look adorable chewing food, but Gabby proved that theory wrong. She swallowed it down and took a sip of her milk shake. “Was it good for you?” she asked. Neither one of us were able to control our laughter. It didn’t get any better than being here with her.

Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen - or in today's world a touch of the keyboard. I am the author of The Exception To The Rule, An Unplanned Lesson, An Unplanned Life and Drowning In Love and A Cry for Hope. I am currently working on A Will To Change the companion novel to A Cry For hope....stay tuned!

My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? I was born and have lived in New Jersey my whole life. I'm a mom of twin teenage boys, a teenage stepson, a crazy Border Collie and a cat with an identity crisis! I guess you can say writing is my form of Calgon! I am married to a wonderful guy - but we'll keep that between us, I don't want him getting a big head!

Thanks for taking the time to learn about my books and me! If you decide to read them (and I hope you do!) please be sure to go on and review it for me - yes, even if you don't like it!

Join the Come to Me Softly Read Along Party on Facebook here

I said this in my review of Come to Me Quietly, but I'll say it again, A.L. Jackson has a hauntingly beautiful writing style.  I loved Come to Me Quietly and the story it told, and I loved Come to Me Softly just as much.  I often worry when the first book in a series has been wonderful - it sets the bar high for me, but it became apparent very quickly I was not going to be disappointed by Come to Me Softly .
While this was absolutely the story of the next stage of Jared and Aly's relationship, it was more so the story of Jared's journey to forgiveness.  The guilt, anger and sadness he carried from the death of his mother was so deeply ingrained, such a huge part of who he was and such a huge block to achieving true happiness in his future.  Despite Aly's gentle encouragement Jared insists that he doesn't need to face his past, rather he wants to look forward to their future together.  He throws himself wholeheartedly into providing a future for his 'family' and continues to bury his pain and regret, all the while wearing his tragic past as a story for all to see, tattooed across his skin.  He clings so fiercely to his love for Aly, adoring everything about her and yet always doubting he is worthy of her.
Even though he questions it, The connection between Aly and Jared is undeniable, their bond is strong and their understanding of each other so intrinsic it's as if they are one.  They must now face the world together and share their relationship with Aly's family and friends.  While Christopher, Aly's brother has known for some time, the rest of Aly's family is unaware of what has blossomed between Aly and Jared and Aly's father in particular is confronted by the depth and extent of the relationship.  As the two deal with Aly's father's reluctance to accept their relationship, not to mention the questioning of their relationship and choices by others,  Jared's past increasingly begins to steal his nights, haunting his sleep and tormenting him until finally it explodes in a way that has dire consequences for him and Aly.
Come to Me Softly was beautiful.  The emotions it evoked in me were vastly different from Come to Me Quietly.  As much as there was sadness in this story, it wasn't of the heartbreaking nature I experienced as I read Come to Me Quietly.  Rather I found a thread of hope woven through this story, which for me gradually strengthened until reaching the final pages and leaving me feeling very satisfied with the path Jared in particular travelled.
Throughout Come to Me Softly we get to see more of Christopher, Aly's brother.  A feature in Come to Me Quietly and an unending support to Aly in both books, my curiosity as to his story was definitely piqued further in Come to Me Softly , so I was thrilled to read that there will be a further installment in this series and it will be Christopher's story.  The Closer to You series is one that I love and one I think everyone should read.
5 out of 5 stars

A.L. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of Take This Regret and Lost to You, as well as other contemporary romance titles, including Pulled, When We Collide, If Forever Comes, and Come to Me Quietly.

She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student. She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.

Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children.

The Traveler Series PremiseEmmy London is a private investigator by choice and a time traveler by chance. As a private investigator, she was accustomed to facing unpleasant situations and sifting through others' lives. Unfortunately, this time to do that, she had to face her own.

Soon, she herself is being followed. A handsome stranger insinuates himself in her life. Everything she believed and thought she knew is called into question beginning with…can she turn her curse into a gift?

Blog Tour: Summer Rain Anthology - including EXCLUSIVE never before released stories

All proceeds from the volume will be donated to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (www.rainn.org), the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the United States.

This collection of books contains EXCLUSIVE never before released stories including: Redemption by Ruthie Knox The Heart of It by Molly O’Keefe Sacrifice by Cecilia Tan Real Feelings by Charlotte Stein Rainy Season by Mary Ann Rivers The Rain in Spain by Amy Jo Cousins Fitting In by Audra North Private Study by Shari Slade Storm Warning by Alexandra Haughton

Behind the BookSummer Rain, like so many projects, started out as nothing more than a simple feeling: a desire to make a positive difference in the world. So often, making a difference begins with giving something. It might be money, time, or both, or something else altogether…but most importantly, it is about giving, and giving vibrantly—with a focused mind, a full heart, and an understanding spirit.
Giving vibrantly leads to vibrant change. Powerful, positive change. Through the incredible generosity of eight other talented authors and one talented editor, that starting point—that desire to make a positive difference—turned into an act of vibrant giving. Summer Rain is a collection of powerful stories about love, written with the hope of making a positive change.
Each year, nearly a quarter of a million sexual assaults are committed in the US, nearly half of them against victims under the age of eighteen. RAINN assists so many of these survivors, not only by operating telephone and online hotlines for victims of sexual abuse, but also by working in partnership with rape crisis centers in the United States of America, providing programs to prevent sexual abuse, and helping to bring abusers to justice.

What happens when love gets caught in the rain?

In this romance anthology, RITA-Award winning author Molly O’Keefe shows us the power of a city thunderstorm from the top of a skyscraper, while Amy Jo Cousins soaks us in a rain in Spain. New York Times bestselling author Ruthie Knox’s heroine is devastated by a winter storm, while a summer thunderstorm grants Alexandra Haughton’s hero and heroine a second chance at love. Rain sparks self-awareness in the robot in Charlotte Stein’s story and allows Mary Ann Rivers’s heroine to fall in love with her hero and her own art. Rain causes romance between the college students in Audra North’s and Shari Slade’s stories, while romance causes rain in Cecilia Tan’s myth-inspired tale of a sacrifice to a demi-god. Nine romance novelettes, edited by Sarah Frantz.

All proceeds from the volume will be donated to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (www.rainn.org), the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the United States.

Except, then, there’s Mark—he’s a sunbeam, a mystery made of light. He breaks through the storm around her so she can see herself, for herself.
The Rain in Spain by Amy Jo CousinsTravel writer Magda and scientist Javi are cranky with the heat—and each other—on the streets of Sevilla. But he discovers that Leila dos Santos is fun and genuine and sexy as hell, and he’s forced to reconsider what’s most important to him.
Private Study by Shari SladeTess Bell’s sex vlog flashes on another student’s tablet screen in the middle of an economics lecture. Worst of all, the guy she’s been secretly eyeing all semester sees it, too, and asks her out for coffee at the local diner. Is he like their awful classmate, convinced he's owed something because Tess dares to be curious about sex, or does he really want to know her? Only one thing is certain: nothing is private anymore.
Storm Warning by Alexandra HaughtonWhen Amy Collier left behind her dreams—and her pride—in L.A., she hoped for a few quiet months to regroup. She never dreamed her hometown’s welcoming committee would take the form of Tom Wilson. Well, he could just keep his I-told-you-so grin and his sexy-cowboy charm; she doesn’t want any part of it.

1 Year Anniversary Blitz: Fading by E.K. Blair

It's hard to believe it was a year ago that I read this amazing story!  It began my love affair with the Fading series and my slight obsession with anything written by E.K. Blair.  Fading remains one of my all time favourite reads.  For those of you that haven't read it, you really should and now is the perfect time to pick up a copy - Fading is on sale for just $0.99.

Can a guilty conscience keep wounds from healing?

Fine arts major, Candace Parker, grew up with a mother who thinks image is everything, and her daughter’s perfection will never be good enough. About to graduate college and pursue her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina, Candace decides it’s time to let go and have a little fun. But fun is short-lived when a brutal attack leaves her completely shattered.

The memories that consume and torment Candace are starting to destroy her when she meets Ryan Campbell, a successful bar owner. He feels instantly connected and tries to show her that hope is worth fighting for. But is Ryan harboring his own demons? As walls slowly begin to chip away, the secrets that are held within start to become painful burdens.

At what point do secrets become lies?

Fading by E.K. Blair book trailer from Novel Idea Inc. on Vimeo.

I'm going to do something I never do and that is start this review at the end of the book:

"Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. Approximately 2/3 of assaults are committed by someone known to the victim. And only 46% of assults are reported to the police."
These statistics are incredibly alarming and it is heart breaking to think of the trauma and ongoing pain suffered by so many, often in silence.

Fading tells us Candace's story. A talented college student pursuing a career as a professional ballerina. Focused on her study and dance, Candace has a very small group of friends and doesn't tend to go out a lot - quite at odds with the 'usual' college life. Battling with the expectations of her parents, Candace studies hard to maintain a 4.0 grade point average. Her mother particularly, is focussed on appearances and does not consider studying ballet or a career as a professional dancer a path worthy of her daughter and does not hide this view from Candace. Frustrated, lonely and feeling like perhaps she needs to relax and live a little, Candace agrees to go out with someone who has her mother's stamp of approval. Despite her reservations and the lack of any real spark, Candace persists, with consequences more dire than she ever would have imagined.

Fading is intense. It is heartbreaking, it is graphic, it does not shy away from the impact of a brutal sexual assault. Candace had her whole world ripped apart and Fading tells of her experience and her journey forward. She struggles daily, and is dependent on her best friend Jase. Candace loses a lot as she deals with her experience. Embarassed, guilty, traumatised she works hard to be 'normal' and move forward, but every day is incredibly hard.
"I'm fading." I feel the heat of my tears as they linger down my cheeks. "He took all my light, and I've been fading ever since."
With the support of Jase and his partner Matt, Candace exists. It is through her friends that she meets Ryan and as their friendship develops she begins to wonder whether she may be able to have a life after her attack.
"I've only ever truly let one person in - Jase. Guys have always made me feel awkward. I don't know how to respond to affection, and I wind up feeling embarrassed and shy. For the first time, I don't want to feel that way."
Despite the bleakness of the subject matter I loved Fading. Candace was an incredible character - strong in so many ways and yet so incredibly vulnerable. Not having had a warm and loving family experience, and being an only child, meant that she was slow to connect with people generally, but with Jase she had a friendship that filled the void of her family. Jase is a wonderful friend, dealing with his families inability to accept his homosexuality and working on re-establishing a relationship with Matt. He selflessly supports Candace and helps her as she recovers from the attack. The intensity of her trauma was palpable and this transferred to tension in my body as I read. I would periodically 'come to' as I was reading and realise that I had been gripping my kindle so hard my fingers were stiff and I had been sitting with muscles clenched in reflection of what Candace was experiencing.

Ryan is intrigued by Candace from the first time he meets her. He senses her vulnerability and is satisfied with what she offers him. He is gentle, supportive and carrying secrets of his own. He is persistent and patient and a perfect remedy for Candace if she can move beyond past events.
"I understand you and Jase, but I know how I feel about you". He takes a moment before softly saying, " I want you to need me more than him."
Feeling the need to defend myself, I say, "He's all I've ever had."
Taking my hand in his, he places it against his chest when he tells me, "You have me now too."
Fading will affect you. It is not a light and romantic read. It is a realistic story of one woman's horrific experience. I'm going to conclude this review at the same place I started, the end of the book:
"You just read about Candace who suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Flashbacks, Sleep Terror Disorder, and Nightmares. These are only a few of the effects one can experience after being sexually assaulted. There is help.
