Read It Or Eat IT!

Always hungry, the Dragon searches his lair for a treat. He roars and the book shelves rattle and shake depositing one title near the cook pot. Sage, Book 1 Fall of Onagros– a recent released by Marian Allen lies within reach of sharp claws. SHOULD HE READ IT…OR EAT IT?

Let’s digest a little of the contents…

The book is staged in a fantasy world where myths and belief systems are very different from the Dragon’s own. A medieval world is controlled by a matriarchal society. The kingdom is at risk, but there is still an heir loose to regain the throne. The ruling woman is routed by her male consort. By sheer accident or the demands of unknown fate, her offspring survives the man’s conniving plans and the intrigue begins.

Pros and Cons of Cooking—

Pros-

There are DRAGONS in the story!!!
The book is well written and flows at a smooth rhythm.
There are descriptions of breakfast.
The unique world is well developed and described.
The characters are interesting.

Cons-

There are many many characters with their own system of names and the Dragon is not sure who to consider eating.
There is a tortoise that might make good soup, but the Dragon is not all that fond of soup.

The Dragon says save this book for reading. Although a tasty treat, it will be much better consumed by the mind. This is an entertaining novel. Buy it! !!!!ROAR!!!!  It can be found at Amazon and where all matriarchal worlds  books are sold.

Marian can be located in her castle on facebook, twitter or blog.

Do I Need An Author Page?

Well maybe. This isn’t exactly a parade ground for books…so I made a page for just that! Just for the proud display of my work.

Have a peek? Fine if you don’t care to…not sure why I need one…

Weekend Warriors – A Seer Excerpt

Fantasy-Dragon-dragons-27155090-2560-1600 Mirandra is a talented fortuneteller.  In this scene she faces one of her greatest challenges -

“She will agree to wed,” the soothsayer spoke slowly. “The knight will be captured,” Mirandra added a small gristle for the man to chew as she wrested her hand from his strong hold.

Knowing it would not be wise to remain in concealment with this assassin, Mirandra slipped blithely backwards returning to the monk’s court.  She had earned ten gold pieces— no point in now losing her life.  The Seer quickly joined the throng of mourners gathered in the cathedral.  She followed the chanting procession toward the closed coffer, camouflaged by the excessive number of people in black clothing.  Along with the multitude of mourning citizens, the gypsy  princess offered her prayer for the lost king.  Approaching the remains, Mirandra felt the tingling of a vision. Dear heavens, not now! Her steps faltered as she saw King Sert, his arms outstretched to her.  The King of Kareth pleaded to her… a mere gypsy.  In that instant there was no doubt in her mind that he had been murdered, and she alone could identify his killer.

Seer, Book 2 The Chronicles of Marithe, will be available August 31st on Amazon!

Read It Or Eat IT!

dragon4

Today is a rather unusual day for the Dragon…He has devoured much of his own work and finds his stomach very full.

The cook pot is boiling and Seer lies upside-down by the Dragon’s bloated tummy. “Enough!” He is heard to growl loudly. “The book is almost ready to share!”

The story is a dual theme of reality and fantasy.  Xavier, a young gamer with a curse, must find a way to survive as a knight in a world filled with demons and dragons. There is only one thing he truly seeks–the love of a princess.

A Steaming Cup of Baya!

Pros and Cons of cooking–

It has plenty of Dragons.
It has tasty gypsy dancers
Baya, a Glahee Gypsy drink sounds a lot like coffee
the story really works up a hungry appetite
the insane mind of Patrick O’Scheen flows clearly in each line

the Dragon says: “ROAR!!!!  Don’t even think about eating it! You will enjoy this book!! It will be on sale soon at Amazon and all the other fine gypsy eateries places books are sold!!!”

Seer Final Large

I BELIEVE IN DRAGONS…

The world of Marithe is back! The story of a young gamer named Xavier is woven into a plot of denial, betrayal and intrigue. He lives a double life running from those who would use him and searching for unencumbered love. Demons, dragons, and gypsies fill the game panorama entangling Xavier in a disaster that could destroy the dragon race and profoundly change his world….

Sometimes I Can’t Quite Stop the Smoke

are-dragons-real-bones-history1@0b88ee7b10ba437684384a88ed995e09Funny that sometimes I am angry deep down inside. It really isn’t like me – not my personality. I think maybe it is the side effect of illness or medication, but I am responsible for my emotions and my life. A little bit of the Dragon slips out and before I know it I am spitting fire and can’t quite stop the smoke or the collateral damage.

Lately I have become a very quiet person.   I do at times wonder if my silence fuels the anger, but the idea is irrelevant. I will not explode.

I can do what all Dragons must—  find my internal center, say my prayers, look for calm. Otherwise we are out burning down villages, ruining lives and making things unpleasant for everyone. Anger has no place ruling a dragon’s life.  Give it up.
