The Future Isn't Here Yet, Apparently

Due to the brisk (ok, brisk-ish) sales of the physical editions of First In Flight and Low Lords, I've released print-on-demand paperback editions of a number of my other novels, only available at Amazon.

So you can now get virgin copies of Off For The Sweet Hereafter, The Last of How It Was, Call and Response, Gospel Hour, Cry Me a River, Polar, Blue Ridge, and True Cross in case you prefer a physical book but would rather not have a used one that smells like Marlboro Lights and feet.

Most of these new editions have yet to be linked to the older listings, so you might have to nose around for them (I'm working on it). All have similar covers -- look for the baled hay.

I do not yet control the rights to A Short History of a Small Place and Glad News of the Natural World, which is why they are so bloody expensive. They'll come home to poppa in time.

OBX-In-Winter 99-Cent Sale

Ray Tatum's off-season trip to the North Carolina Outer Banks -- otherwise known as First In Flight-- is on sale for 99 cents (Amazon ebook only) for the next week.

So pick up a copy for yourself or hit the Give-as-a-Gift button and inflict one on a friend (who will never know you didn't pay retail).

A Physical Book For You Physical Book People (you know who you are)

I have heard your . . . suggestions.

So there is now a paperback edition of First In Flight for those of you still fighting the future. The new cover features the Wright Brothers Memorial, an OBX landmark and a crucial location in the novel.

Yes, it does look like a very large doorstop.

Something Weird for Christmas

Here's a strange book for you.
description
It's a novel I've been fiddling with off and on for a couple of years -- a family-friendly, quasi-historical freak show of a fantasy, a coming-of-age story with headlamps and monsters, for which I am pleased to blame Thomas Jefferson, spelunker in chief.

As some wag says in the promotional copy:

Eighteen-year-old Hoyt MacKenna — friends and family call him Mack — was born a Low Lord in Cumberland, Tennessee. That makes him part of a secret society founded by statesman and inveterate caver Thomas Jefferson. Low Lords are cavern minders, each group a family unit. The clans rotate to new sites every eight years or so and, as much as possible, live apart from the general population so as to devote themselves to their sole duty of keeping what’s under down.

What’s under? Alabastards — an ancient blend of humanoid and reptile built for cavern living and increasingly determined to get out into the light.

Low Lords is a peculiar beast for sure and will be on offer through the holidays at the bargain price of $1.99 (Amazon ebook).

There's a paperback edition as well ($9.99). I'm trying Amazon's paperback beta, which seems pretty buggy. Here's the page -- live now with free shipping for Prime members.

Since I've had several requests, I'll put First In Flight in paperback shortly.

THE LAST OF HOW IT WAS Goes Electronic

The Kindle version of this long, dense 1986 novel is finally available on Amazon for a mere $2.99.

I'm told it's funny as well.

Dead's Looking Pretty Good

I have long lived in rural America without truly, I see now, knowing where I was.

God help us all.

Not Dead, Just Resting

Since a full year between blog posts would probably be poor form, here I am! Sort of -- and only to announce that there will finally be an electronic version of The Last of How It Was available at Amazon by mid November at the usual rock-bottom price of $2.99.

I'll be back with a fuller report soon

Patreon Savant

Thanks to all of you who have made Patreon contributions. I had assumed it would be an easy matter to make a one-time pledge. Not so much, as it turns out.

If your intention was to give me something every month, many thanks. If not, you should cancel your patronage any time during the month of December, and you will only have been charged once.

Here's the link to Patreon's instructions on how to engineer a one-time contribution.

If anybody has a problem -- gets double billed, etc. -- just let me know, and I'll make it right.

Again, many thanks for the contributions. I'm sorry the process wasn't quite as seamless as I assumed it to be.

RAY-PALOOZA!

Depending on how quickly the gears turn at Amazon, all of the electronic editions of the Ray Tatum novels will be on offer in the next day or so for 99 cents. That includes the new one, First In Flight. (All five titles are now available)

That's five books for five bucks -- ending Sunday night.

If you'd rather pay full retail (and I do thank you for the impulse), just go straight to patreon and make up the difference.

ALSO pass along any mistakes and typos you run across, and I'll make corrections and upload a clean copy in a few weeks. Hive mind, crowd sourced copy editing should work as well as anything else.

Happy reading.
