2 Cats, a Dog and 2 Guinea Pigs Sharing Their Secrets with a Giveaway, Part I
Stanley and I recently attended PetBookCharCon*. It is a huge convention just for animal characters of books. It was impressive and fun. In one of our breakout sessions we were lucky enough to be grouped with Fred & George, (guinea pigs from The Princelings of the East Series), and Max (a cat from The Shadows of the Past Series). The leader of the breakout session gave us a handful of questions to answer to help us get to know each other better. We are thrilled that we have everyone’s permission to share this epic moment in PetBookCharCon history. Please note: due to the wordiness of the characters involved, this interview will be broken into two parts, with the continuation posted on December 17th. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom to enter the giveaway! Thank you for reading and sharing,
Katrina von Cat the Master of Wisdom and Knowledge
(and Stanley)
=========================
*PetBookCharCon is a fictional convention. :)What is your opinion of snow?
Fred: It’s very pretty and it’s fine if you have a nice warm castle to stay in. Last winter I sent some people out to check that the people in the outlying communities were ok, and some of them weren’t. We brought some of them back to the castle to keep warm. George put sliders on the carts, which was very clever of him.
George: I like snow to look at but it’s really difficult to walk on unless it’s been really well frozen. It’s very hard when your feet slip through and you are sort of wading on your tummy. One time I followed some tunnels that the water voles had made. That was good, and very quick.
Max: Nasty, cold, wet and slippy. Need I say more? I had a horrible experience once when we had some quite deep snow and Joe put me out through the back door to see what would happen. I expect he thought it would be funny to see me dancing about getting frostbite in my paws, but he didn’t realise that the snow was very soft powder and I disappeared from sight – about 2 feet under. I felt like I’d been buried alive and I get the shivers every time I remember it.
Stanley: Oh, I LOVE snow. Am I the only one who loves snow? I love to roll around in snow. Roll, roll, roll, run, run, run, run, run, jump, jump, dig, dig, dig.
Katrina: Ick! Yes, you are the only one who loves snow, Stanley.I agree with Max.What would be your best ever Christmas present?
Fred: The best thing I’d like for a Yule present would be for the Kings’ Council to stop opposing female succession and representation. I’m fed up with them being such stick-in-the-muds. It drives me crazy.
Katrina: Fred is a wise guinea pig.
George: What about something you’d like for you, though, Fred?
Fred: Oh, I've got everything I need, except for a really good way of mapping tides, but you’re working on that.
George: True. I’d like something that made my flying machines go really fast, or just land straight down, like a bee or a bird does. We still have to take a running jump, like a swan does.
Max: Oh, that’s a difficult question. I suppose you’re expecting me to say the usual things like a nice new comfy cat bed, a couple of furry toy mice or some tasty cat treats. (Actually, I have to say that I really don’t like those Christmas stockings for cats, which contain tooth-breaking nibbles, a cheap catnip toy, not to mention a hard plastic ball with a bell inside – I think you’re supposed to run around the room, chasing after it and looking as if you’re having fun – too much like hard work if you ask me. But don’t tell Jemima, will you? She gets one for me every year and I know she buys it with her own pocket money, so I really don’t want to hurt her feelings). No, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want - gosh, I sound like the Spice Girls, don’t I?
Katrina: The Spice Girls? What are you talking about, Max?
Stanley: Katrina, The Spice Girls were a British pop girl group formed in the 90’s. The group consisted of five members, who each later adopted nicknames such as Baby Spice and Sporty Spice.
Katrina: How do you know this Stanley?
Stanley: You aren’t the only pet surfing the web late at night. Anyway, how do you NOT know this when you are from the UK?
Katrina: . . .
Max: Perhaps I could be Spice Cat or how about Furry Spice?
Katrina: Well, isn’t Max silly. I would like to be named Knowledge Spice, since we are sharing fun names, but back to the original question, my best Christmas present would be thousands of treats.
Stanley: My answer? A day without Katrina being there. What would your pirate name be?
Fred: I’d be Captain Fudge. I’d definitely be Captain, and I’m Fudge coloured, and I’m also very tasty.
Katrina: Tasty? I guess you would be tasty - I never really thought about that.
Stanley: Nor should you, Katrina.
Katrina: . . .
Max: My pirate name would be Captain Kitt. I wouldn’t have to have a parrot on my shoulder though, would I? I’m a bit scared of birds and parrots look as if they’ve got really sharp beaks.
Stanley: My pirate name would be Davey Bones.
Katrina: Pirate von Argh the Master of Plundering and Booty Collecting, for me.
George: I think I’d be called Smuggler.
Fred: Because he’s so smug.
George: And it makes me sound like I’m quite wicked. This will be continued on December 17th.
