Carlee’s Love

images-1

Greetings my friends,

Such a busy time of year and I’m sure all of you have been as busy as I have.

I mentioned on my Facebook page an AUCTION that I want to do for The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in my community. I believe this is the best way that I can think of to do it.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Barbara-Stewart-Author/352239824808537?ref=hl

Through my books, I met a lovely new friend on Facebook; she makes the most beautiful bracelets!

https://www.facebook.com/CrazyBbracelets

She made this beautiful bracelet for me and I want those of you who know the stories of the Rock and Roll Trilogy to LOVE this as much as I do. I want you to love it SO MUCH that you will join in the auction by replying here with your bid.

Carlee’s Love

possible for Barbara

This is the description she helped me with and it’s perfect!

Like a breath of Spring or Summer with its sunny yellows and whites, and accented with black highlights on glass beads. Added are pretty classic pearls with silver toned spacer beads all working together to make this a sweet classic. The daisy, Carlee’s favorite flower, brings this beauty all together. You can wear all the bracelets together as shown or open the pendant holder to wear single bracelets or mix and match to make this as unique as you. Carlee’s favorite word, HOPE, can be found on a bead in the sliver bracelets.

Deborah, the bracelet’s designer, is fighting a battle of her own and I would like to honor her, along with other friends fighting their own battles, with this auction by GIVING BACK to help in Research, Advocacy, Education and Services provided by The American Cancer Society to help so that we can find a CURE for cancer.

THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME – everyone is touched by this disease in some way.

THE OPENING BID WILL BE A MINIMUM OF $25.00 (U.S.) with increments of a minimum of $1.00. Bidding will begin as soon as this post goes LIVE and will be accepted thru midnight on 12/24. You will post your bid by replying to THIS POST – I will update on my Facebook page occasionally where we are.

The auction winner will send ME a check made out to The American Cancer Society. This will be a tax deductible donation and your name will be added to my roll on my team’s Relay For Life Page. (unless you would rather be anonymous). The ACS will mail you a receipt for your donation. I can’t figure out how else to do this except this way. (if you are outside the US and win I will need to charge you whatever shipping will be to mail it to you.)

HOPE… is Carlee’s favorite word because it’s my favorite word and I HOPE that you will participate in this AUCTION to give others the HOPE for a CURE.

Christmas is about GIVING and this is YOU giving back.

I love all y’all, Barbara

Remember – THIS IS TO HELP FIND A CURE and you get to wear a beautiful UNIQUE handcrafted design to show your HOPE, or to honor someone you know and love who is a SURVIVOR or a WARRIOR!

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving friends,

I’ve been thinking about it this way for a while – Thanks AND Giving. You get what you give…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPAEFnVZVOs

I have so much that I’m thankful for… I’m blessed with the best husband that I could ever imagine. I have a roof over my head, food on the table (sometimes more than I need, but I’m thankful for the realization that I’ve put a lot of thought and energy into that recently.) I have a good job that even when it’s overwhelming sometimes I know that at some point in the day I will give someone else comfort and a smile (even if I have to look in the mirror first to assure that it’s there :) )

I am thankful and blessed that some of you have shared so much of yourselves with me. I will never share all, but I can tell you how unbelievable it is to me that you share so openly. I received a letter the other day that had my husband and I both in tears. “Did you ever imagine that people would respond to that story in such emotional ways?”  My only response is that I shared something in my heart and it mattered to someone. Some have said it changed them. I know it changed ME. I am thankful for an imagination that I seem to have no control over, that helps me make up stories that you seem to like. :) I am thankful for music that inspires some of the thoughts that develop into  story lines…

Today I’m thankful that I was able to be with four of the people I love most in the world for breakfast. I’m thankful to know that the ones who couldn’t be here are safe and happy celebrating with other members of their family and PRAY that we will see each other soon. I am thankful to be home in a warm house with my feet up, watching some football with my honey who reaches over every so often and rubs my foot. :)

And I am thankful for YOU for believing in ME.

Love, Barbara

#blessed

I keep thinking someone will pinch me and make me wake up and realize that this blessing isn’t really that… But I will revel in the blessings that I feel with each review, with each comment that I see regarding the pieces of my heart that y’all tell me you like or LOVE.

I feel happy that you get the pieces of my heart that I’ve share with you. I appreciate each of you who take a moment to send me personal note, a goodreads comment or the reviews on amazon. You share what you thought and someone else takes a chance on me.

I write tonight to thank you for taking a chance on me…

#blessed by YOU!

Love, Barbara

Missing in action author returns to the scene…..

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post!

Hopefully you’ve seen the posts on my Facebook page to keep up with all that’s been going on. I’ve been busy and have a new baby – if you weren’t already aware!

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Barbara-Stewart-Author/352239824808537

Feel Like Makin’ Love went live on Monday the 21st. I’m still learning to slow down (repeat that Barbara – SLOW DOWN) and that I need to make a timeline and make things happen in that way, in that order! I was so excited when everything finally came together that I couldn’t wait.

Amazon link:  http://www.amazon.com/Feel-Like-Makin-Love-Journey/dp/1490568549/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1382008951&sr=1-1&keywords=feel+like+makin%27+love

I think all of the covers have been beautiful, but this one is my favorite!

This was an emotional roller coaster for me because it means the end of my journey with Andy. I hope that you like the way things came together….

REMINDER: There are only a few days left – through Oct 31st I am giving a portion of my proceeds from book sales to The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Oakleaf.

I’m off to new adventures now, but the characters from this series will be with me for a long time!

Watch for The Face in the Mirror updates! I’ll be better at updating here, but remember, you can find me on my Facebook too!

Love, Barbara

October 6, 2013

It started with a good morning post…

I sat down in the (TOO) quiet this morning with a cup of coffee to write a Facebook status, and all of a sudden my thoughts were all over the place (overly emotional the last day or so) so I moved the status here for a blog entry.

A good, good friend gave me one of those coffee cup pads filled with yumminess. It’s the kind where when the heat from the cup warms it, the room fills with cinnamon and I’m not quite sure what the other smell is – but this is what it says…

“Just when the caterpillar thought her world was over, she became a butterfly.”

I love that… I needed that this morning… (Thank you JMac

I didn’t know that the butterfly was a Hospice symbol until my mom was in their care, and now when I see them they have a special meaning to me. Yesterday we went out and ran some errands, not quite ready to be here all day without our four-legged friend. (If you aren’t a ‘friend’ on Facebook, our cat Kooky took his journey over the rainbow bridge on Friday). We decided to just wander around and ended up at a plant nursery – I was looking for something that would remind us of him for our back porch. He spent hours out there lying in the sun (he was a Florida cat!).

I walked around the nursery and found nothing, but I turned the corner and found a butterfly garden that was FULL of butterflies. It was so pretty, and I found myself just standing there for a few moments. I think it was my mom telling me it would all be ok – she’s done that before :) It was peaceful… We did find something to remind us of Kooky somewhere else. I’ll show you when it’s finished.

You’ll read about butterflies if you read my books, and if you KNOW me, you will read about my mom in many of the story lines – you will read something and smile, knowing it was about Alis…

Today we are slowly cleaning house, I’ll have some goodies to give to the Humane Society to help with the care of other cats until they are adopted. We don’t be doing that anytime soon. :) It’s funny (to me) that as I was cleaning up some stuff I found packages of toys that hadn’t ever been opened because there were so many that he was fond of. (my sweet sister-in-law spoiled him (I love you Kathy!) There are two little bitty mice that I can’t bear to part with – I can see him running through the house tossing them in the air, pouncing on them and breathing like a horse who had just won the Kentucky Derby… And I can’t pick his paper bag up off the floor yet…  :) Thank you for letting me share Kooky with you…

For those of you asking (and I thank you) about the release of Feel Like Makin’ Love, I don’t have a date yet. I’m in waiting mode and I will keep you posted. This is why I don’t tell you a date until I have everything in place – THIS MONTH is my HOPE…. But I will let you know that I haven’t been doing NOTHING.  The Face in the Mirror will be going out to some Beta readers very soon to see what they think…And I’m working on reworking Sweet Surrender – AND… I’m helping someone else who has a project they want to explore…

If you are a Blogger and read my blog – let me tag you – tell me who you are so I can promote your blog on my Facebook page – I am all about paying it forward!

And don’t forget my fundraiser for THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY’S RELAY FOR LIFE… it is October and all about Breast Cancer this month, but I am supporting ALL CANCER.

http://barbarastewartwrites.com/2013/09/29/as-october-nears/

See why this couldn’t be a Facebook status – ha ha!

oh, and because I need a good dose of this today….

Give your four-legged friends an extra scratch behind the ears today…

October 2, 2013

reminder – October

I’ve been thinking about October, it’s Andy’s Birthday month :) but it’s BREAST CANCER AWARENESS month – something important to me. I’ve been involved with the American Cancer Society for the last six years in some manner (The Cancer Foundation in my books). This year I decided against sending out the emails begging for donations – I came up with a plan!

From October 1st – 31st, 50% of the proceeds (my profit) of all eBook sales of ROCK AND ROLL NEVER FORGETS and WHEN I LOOK TO THE SKY (no other books included) will go to The American Cancer Society. This includes all sales worldwide on the two books/eBooks noted. Any paperbacks sold through the links below will get a 50% donation from my profit. These are direct from my publisher:

https://www.createspace.com/3710841  Rock and Roll Never Forgets

https://www.createspace.com/3912127 When I Look to the Sky

Paperback purchases through Amazon.com will receive a 25% donation (from my profit – because Amazon gets their cut first).

If you don’t support The American Cancer Society thru this special (personal) event – please support by making a donation for someone you know or love by finding a Relay For Life event in your area, or by making a direct donation:

https://donate.cancer.org/index?gclid=CMiK3_L78LkCFRRk7AodJl4A6g

AND DON’T FORGET TO BE DILIGENT WITH YOUR SELF CHECKS – schedule that mammogram – the boobie-smash is worth the discomfort to know – and a quick body scan by a dermatologist to check moles, and such. This is important to me…

Love, Barbara
