Book Giveaway!!!

As promised, here are the details of the giveaway! It's simple. There are five (5) autographed copies itching to fly from my office bookshelf to your hands. You can choose either one copy of Dimwater's Dragon, or one copy of Jonathan Haymaker if you are selected as a winner.

What do you have to do?

Follow me on twitter and tweet your favorite character, and why you like them, from any of my books. My handle is @Author_SamFerg

You can pick any character from The Dragon's Champion series, The Netherworld Gate series, The Dragons of Kendualdern: Ascension, or even pick out of the short story anthology Tales from Terramyr.

Once you tweet who you like and why, your name is entered into a drawing that will be held on December 24th. That's it. It's that simple. No essays, no purchases, and no postage payment necessary. Just tweet to me who your favorite character is and why, and your Twitter handle will be entered into the drawing.

On December 24th (sometime before my kids beg me to let them open presents early) the five winners will be announced on Twitter. They will then get a direct message from me with the next steps to send me the name they want it made out to, the address to send it to, and they can specify which book they wish to receive.

Want bonus chances? Get your twitter followers to retweet your tweet. For each retweet Twitter logs on your original tweet, you will get an additional ticket in the drawing.

*Only one book per winner. Even if you have a bazillion tickets, your name can only be drawn once and therefore, you can only get one book. I want five actual people to get books :)  (Though I suppose it is possible to have multiple Twitter accounts and thereby foil and trick me into giving you both books... you will then just have to live with the shame of having two books instead of one...)

*This is a Twitter exclusive drawing. The only way to enter is to Tweet @Author_SamFerg. Even if you send me cookies, or smiley face stickers, I can only accept a proper entry via Twitter.

*All Tweets and retweets must be logged before 11:59 pm (MST) on December 23rd to be eligible for the drawing. The 5 winners will be announced on December 24th, 2015.

Best of luck, and I look forward to seeing which characters you all like :)

Jonathan Haymaker now available for pre-order

I am pleased to announce that a new fantasy novel is available for pre-order now.

"Jonathan Haymaker" is not your typical farm-boy-turned-hero story either- Jonathan isn't out trying to save the world. While an unprecedentedly gigantic horde of trolls invades from the Murkle Quags, cowering the local armies and routing even the strongest of human champions, Jonathan's singular aim is to rescue his brother and bring him home again. Be sure to check it out. The e-book will be released in December.

Return of the Dragon updates available for those who need them

I must apologize, as it appears that despite my best efforts, some incomplete versions of the e-book were sent out by Amazon. Normally, they do a great job so overall I don't have any real complaints, but it appears that many who pre-ordered Return of the Dragon, got an incomplete version. This should only affect some of the pre-ordered copies, and not any copies purchased on or after October 5th.

To explain, I should say that just before the book was originally due, my infant son was admitted into the hospital after a serious accident wherein his legs were severely burned. He is on the mend now, although it is still unclear whether he may need surgery to help his skin heal, but for several weeks my family was entirely consumed with helping him and trying to take care of the otehr children at the same time. There was no way for me to finish the edits in the last half of the manuscript on time.

For this reason, I cut the book off at chapter 15, keeping those chapters that needed further revision back, with a short note as a placeholder. I had the understanding that as long as I got the updates and edits finished and turned in before October 2nd, then every reader would get the completed book. Unfortunately, although I was able to finish the edits by October 1st, it has come to my attention that many of the pre-ordered copies released are not the final version.

The good news is, there is an easy fix. For any of you who have the incomplete version, please use one of the below contact methods to request the updated version. (I am speaking with them to push the updates automatically to each reader, but they are reluctant to do so.)

Again, please accept my apologies.

Dimwater's Dragon is now available for pre-order

I am happy to announce a new book; Dimwater's Dragon. I hope you enjoy it. Reserve your copy today!

Kyra Dimwater has only two weeks left before her fourteenth birthday, a day that promises misery. She has seen the noblemen coming to her home, sneaking off to the parlor with her father for hushed conversations. They were suitors, she knew, but it didn't matter. Her father had long ago decided to whom she would be betrothed. These meetings were nothing more than his pitiful attempt to increase the price for her hand in marriage. Kyra pretended not to notice them, turning instead to her book of spells that her mother had given her to practice before her inaugural year at Kuldiga Academy. She knew magic was the only way to take control of her life. Upon her birthday, Kyra's father would announce the chosen groom, and then she would have only four years at Kuldiga Academy before she would be delivered to the altar. Such was the way of noble-born girls.

When she arrives at Kuldiga Academy, Kyra's world collapses when she discovers that her betrothed works there as an instructor. As if his presence wasn't suffocating enough, rumors abound and the other apprentices soon ostracize her. There were other girls in similar circumstances, but Kyra was different. She was the only one betrothed to an instructor at the Academy. At least the others were betrothed to young men closer to their own age. She would have to use her wits, in addition to her budding magic skills, in order to escape and create some semblance of freedom in a world ruled by noblemen.

On one such adventure Kyra finds a dragon egg, something not seen for centuries in the Middle Kingdom. She knows to hide it is an offense against the crown. There is a dark danger with all dragons, and they are to be exterminated upon sight. Kyra, however, cannot bring herself to destroy it. In that oblong egg she sees not the monster others did, but a creature deserving of freedom and a life of its own making. She seeks advice from an outlawed wizard and enlists his help to care for the egg.

As the dragon hatches and grows, Kyra fights to hide and protect the fledgling dragon, all the while dodging her betrothed and the others at the academy who would surely condemn the dragon to death. The bond between lady and dragon grows fierce and strong, but will it survive, or is the dark curse destined to conquer the beast?

Erik's Journey is Coming to a Close.

The final volume of the Dragon's Champion series is now available for pre-order. Enjoy!

In the final volume of The Dragon's Champion series, Erik has found the Immortal Mystic, but his training is failing. Haunted by guilt and grief over a close friend who was murdered in front of him, he cannot focus his power. Meanwhile, Gilifan has found a way to resurrect Tu'luh and plunge the Middle Kingdom into subjugation with Nagar's Secret. Lepkin finds himself stuck between a horde of invading orcs and the press of Gilifan's forces. Worst of all, Erik may not be the champion about whom the prophecies were written. Meddling wizards have interfered with the very fabric of fate, altering prophecies and manipulating events. Because of this, Lepkin may have chosen the wrong champion to train, which now threatens to tip the balance heavily in Gilifan's favor. Erik will have to not only succeed in his final training, which he was never meant to undergo, he will have to rise against the reborn Tu'luh, and hope that he and his allies are strong enough to defeat the beast.
