Advocating for a learner-centered approach often brings up the question, “Won’t my kids just play video games all day?” Although the answer to that is multi-faceted, we know that no experience is devoid of learning. And, in fact, some may have more opportunities for development than we first believe. Join special guests Genese Davis (The Holder’s Dominion, MMORPG.com, The Gamer In You) Eric Kieron (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo,) Matt Woomer (Blue Mammoth Games,) Andrew Greenberg (Lead Developer – Fading Suns: Noble Armada,) and Todd Harris (Hi-Rez Studios) as they discuss the benefits and potential drawbacks to video games and how to navigate both. Genese Davis is an American author, host, columnist and media personality. She is the author of The Holder’s Dominion, a next-generation video game thriller heralded as a breakthrough novel by Publishers Weekly. Davis is the founder of The Gamer in You and was recently awarded IGR Woman of the Year. She is a featured columnist at MMORPG.com and appears internationally for literary and entertainment events all over the world. Andrew Greenberg
Andrew Greenberg, best known for designing computer games and roleplaying games, is lead developer on the upcoming Fading Suns: Noble Armada mobile and tablet game. Andrew co-created the “Fading Suns” roleplaying and computer games and was the original developer of White Wolf’s “Vampire: The Masquerade.” He has credits on more than 50 White Wolf products and more than 20 HDI books. He has also worked on products with other roleplaying game companies, including “Star Trek Next Generation” and “Deep Space Nine.” His computer game credits include Dracula Unleashed, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Emperor of the Fading Suns, Warhammer 40K: Final Liberation, Merchant Prince II, Mall Tycoon, Dungeon Crawlers, Dungeon Lords, The Virtual World of Kaneva, Railroad Tycoon Mobile and the Global Agenda MMO. A fellow with the Mythic Imagination Institute, Andrew is also president of the Georgia Game Developers Association and organizer of the Southeast Interactive Entertainment and Games Expo (SIEGE).
Matt Woomer
Matt Woomer is the Creative Director at Blue Mammoth Games, developer of the popular MMO Dungeon Blitz and the upcoming platform fighter Brawlhalla. His other AAA development titles include the beloved MMO City of Heroes as well as City of Villains and Global Agenda. He has many opinions on what these games and others like them can teach, and in fact he has tried on a few occasions to develop video games that teach literally – most recently the educational game Pangemonium on Facebook. Matt is teased by fellow programmers because his degree is in American History.
Eric Kieron
Eric Kieron is an award-winning producer for film, theater, video games, web, and literary genres. He is passionate about producing high quality, creative content built to entertain. He is a cinematics producer for Blizzard Entertainment, and is the founder of the film production company, Sleepwalker Studios. As a director, he focuses on the creative vision of the project aiming to intrigue and excite an audience. As a producer, he has led teams from concept to completion on a number of premium projects. Todd Harris
Todd Harris began his career as a software engineer at NCR before taking on product development leadership roles at Radiant Systems and BlueCube Software. In 2005, he entered the games industry when he co-founded Hi-Rez Studios, a creator of PC online action games. Hi-Rez released the sci-fi shooter MMO Global Agenda in 2010, followed by the critically acclaimed shooter Tribes: Ascend in 2012. Todd and Hi-Rez recently released the game SMITE, a mythology themed 3D battleground of the gods, which has been played by over 4 million people. Todd has spoken at numerous game industry events including gamescom, PAX Prime, PAX East, Dragon*Con, and SIEGE.

Raymond Carr
Raymond Carr is an American independent film, theatrical, commercial director and designer. His films have been accepted in several Oscar qualifying international film festivals. Raymond developed his DIY approach as a board member of the “Dailies Project,” an experimental filmmaking workshop, where he created many notable indie shorts (the 2007 Magnolia Pictures film “The Signal” was developed through Dailies). He has a background as a designer and builder of monster and creature effects which he incorporates in his films in concert with Visual Effects. His music videos have won awards at such genre festivals as DragonCon. In 2013, Carr was commissioned from Heather Henson to produce a film for her company Ibex Productions. He also production designed and script consulted with director David Bruckner for the Magnolia Pictures film V/H/S. Carr’s experience as a creature and production designer allows him to create worlds as a director that feel dynamic, unique and rich, while his background as a theatrical director grounds his actors in character driven narratives. He is currently slated to direct a segment for the upcoming anthology film based on the work of acclaimed horror novelist Tom Tessier.
Tonya Grace
Tonya Grace is the founder and president of the Atlanta Filmmakers Alliance. Grace has over a decade of experience in media production, including expertise as a videographer, freelance writer, producer, and senior editor of MBW magazine. In addition, Grace is the author of Scenes of Drift, a collection of poetry pieces critically acclaimed by writerscafe.org. Grace has a depth of experience as a journalist and writer with different multimedia news platforms to include AOL’s news community “Patch”, where she worked building Lawrenceville and Suwanee sites as a Community Listings Collector, journalist, writer and a blogger on Education. She has also provided mentorship, script writing assistance, and executive production assistance on film teaser trailers, movies and various video productions. Grace is also a English and creative writing teacher and teaches students from different countries around the world.
Jose Acosta
As a digital cinematographer and director, Jose Alejandro Acosta tells stories with moving pictures. His passion for excellence has garnered him EMMY and TELLY awards and he has been trusted with some of the worlds best-known brands like AFLAC, AT&T, Cartoon Network, CNN, Coca-Cola, Ferrari, the EMMY Awards, Disney, DIY Network, Dunkin’ Donuts, the Home Depot, and the Weather Channel. Most recently Jose wrote and directed Poe’s Mystery Theatre (facebook.com/PoesMysteryTheatre) a 1-hour historical drama scheduled to premiere on Georgia Public Broadcasting this October.

C.S. Marks
C.S. Marks has often been described as a Renaissance woman. Author, artist, horsewoman, professor, naturalist, bowyer, songwriter and performer–she is best known for the very successful Elfhunter trilogy, which has sold over 30,000 copies in print and e-book form. After two years of being “out of print and offline,” this epic trilogy is currently being re-released by Parthian Press. Chris is in demand as a lecturer, panelist, and presenter at conventions, academic fairs, and publishing workshops, and her short fiction has been featured in numerous anthologies. She is now hard at work on an exciting new Alterran series, the Undiscovered Realms, and comes to ComicCon with a brand new novella from the Alterra Histories. She looks forward to bringing her wonderful tales of Alterra to an ever-widening group of appreciative readers of all ages.
Danny Fingeroth
DANNY FINGEROTH was the Group Editor of Marvel’s Spider-Man comics line and has written many comics, including Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider-Man. He was a consultant to the Fox Kids Spider-Man animated series and has written episodes of the 4Kids’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. Danny has served as VP/Editor-in-Chief of Byron Preiss’ Virtual Comics and as Sr. VP for Development at animation studio Visionary Media. He is the author of the books Superman on the Couch: What Superheroes Really Tell Us About Ourselves and Our Society; Disguised as Clark Kent: Jews, Comics, and the Creation of the Superhero; and The Rough Guide to Graphic Novels. He was the creator and editor-in-chief of Write Now! Magazine, the leading publication about writing for comics and related media. Danny and Mike Manley have produced a book, How To Create Comics from Script to Print, and a DVD, How to Draw Comics from Script to Print. With Roy Thomas, Danny edited The Stan Lee Universe, a coffee table book featuring rarities from the comics legend’s career.
Ken Lashley
Ken Lashley has been a drawing comics for over 15 years. he is currently doing covers for DC comics on such titles as Superman, Superboy, Earth 2, Suicide Squad, Ravagers, Talon, Batwing, Team Seven and Blackhawks. Ken drew the villains month issue of ZOD as well as the hologram covers for Solomon Grundy and Desaad issues. Ken is currently drawing the 38pg SUPERMAN DOOMED issue #1. It’s the new 52 version of the Superman Doomsday battle from years gone by.

Darryl DMC McDaniels
Darryl “DMC” Matthews McDaniels is an American musician. He is one of the pioneers of hip hop culture and founding members of the hip hop group Run-DMC. McDaniels is featured in the 2008 video game Guitar Hero: Aerosmith singing Run-DMC’s singles “King of Rock” and “Walk This Way.” He is also an unlockable guitarist in the game. In the game’s trailer, it is revealed that McDaniels’ son plays Guitar Hero for hours on end each day. In June 2007, McDaniels joined Aerosmith on stage at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London, England to perform ‘Walk This Way’.
