Blurb:
What happens when in a weird twist of fate--or karma--the bullfighter becomes the bull?
Conchita Peron, a bullfighter still trying to earn respect in a male-dominated profession, vows to kill Asesino, the bull that took her father's life. But what she doesn't know--and may not realize in time--is within the bull's body resides the soul of the man she once and still desires...that of the very handsome and very dead matador Antonio de le Vega.
Will she set aside her thirst for revenge in time to see the heart under the hide?
Excerpt:“Senorita, you really should be resting, not drinking. You need a clear head for tomorrow.” Mateo—once mozo de espada to Antonio, now Conchita’s—gave her what had to be the twentieth warning glance in the last hour.It was becoming harder and harder to ignore him.“A few shots of tequila never hurt anyone,” Conchita shot back and punctuated her statement by throwing her head back and downing another small glass of the scorching amber liquid.“Ah. But a few shots of tequila and a pitcher of beer…” Her assistant wrinkled his nose and shook his head. “Liquid courage may help you now, but it will not help you tomorrow when you are in that arena facing the most feared bull in Mexico.”Conchita hated that her friend and mozo could see right through her, and she hated even more that he was right. But she’d be damned if she let him know that.“Just go. I’ll be leaving in a few minutes. The hotel is not far. I don’t need a chaperone.”The man hesitated, his hands perched on the edge of the bar, his butt half off the seat. “Are you sure? You promise you are leaving soon? It is already ten p.m. You should get a full night’s rest—”“God!” Conchita interrupted, slamming her empty shot glass on the bar. “Don’t mother me, Mateo. I’ll be fine. I’ve fought more bulls than I can even remember right now. What’s another one?”“The streets this late at night—”“Are fine,” Conchita stated with a warning note in her voice. “If I can fight bulls, I can fight men. They are nearly one and the same. Horny fuckers.”Mateo blinked in surprise and his lips twitched at one corner, but he rose from his seat. “Till tomorrow morning then. Ten a.m.”Conchita felt bad for being so harsh with him. In an industry that showed her very little respect, he had been good to her, had stood by her patiently for three years. She’d never regretted hiring him after Antonio’s death and he didn’t deserve her attitude. She needed to get her head on straight and focus her bad attitude where it belonged: on the bull.“Yep. Ten. I’m leaving soon. I promise,” she said, then added, “Goodnight, Mateo.”“Buenas noches, Conchita.”He doffed his baseball cap, nodded one last time, and was gone.Conchita watched him go, vowed to finish the half mug of beer still in front of her, and then she would leave. She knew better than to overindulge the night before a fight, but she could hold her liquor as well as any man and her nerves were strung tight. No, liquid courage wouldn’t get her far tomorrow, but it would help her sleep tonight. In the absence of her friend, she became more aware of her surroundings: the tinkle of glasses as the bartenders shuffled, grabbed, and washed them, giggles from women in the corner as they eyed the men playing pool, the sound of balls hitting balls, voices from the men at the other end of the bar.“I bet you a hundred pesos she loses,” one man said.“I don’t know. Revenge is a strong motive. He killed her papa and her lover.”Conchita spewed beer all over the counter in front of her. Her lover? What tabloid had they been reading? Dios!“Matadoras don’t have lovers. They are all lesbians. They want to be men!” a third man declared drunkenly. It was a battle not to turn and look at the men having this discussion, but Conchita forced herself to be still. She caught the bartender’s eye as he approached her, a white rag in hand. The conversation continued, but she feigned disinterest.“I heard Asesino had to be pulled off a cow, tasered and roped and drugged. His amorousness knows no bounds,” man number two’s voice came again. His amigos chuckled as though that was the funniest thing they’d ever heard.Conchita gestured for another pitcher of beer, wanting an excuse to stay and listen to the men’s conversation.“An amorous bull is a fierce bull!”“His cock was this long!”More laughter.Conchita cast a sidelong glance at the men and her eyes widened at how far the speaker held his palms apart. Did he really think it was that long?“But you see,” man number one said, leaning forward as though he had a secret, “he is full of testosterone and missing his cow bitches. Now that he’s had a taste of cow cooch, he’ll be dying to get back there, bursting with sexual frustration, and this will make him vicious. He will kill her right away!”The bartender placed the pitcher in front of her and Conchita quickly poured herself a mug, downing it as quickly as she could as the man’s words roiled with the yeast in her belly.“Jorge, you saw him today, didn’t you? Didn’t you see the bull?”“Si! Si! I saw him arrive yesterday. He’s in the barn! Massive, fierce, angry! The poor matadora. Let’s hope she’s been practicing.”Conchita gulped, swallowing more beer as she did so. And she continued to drink and listen, drink and listen, as she clutched the red sachet under her shirt.“Two hundred pesos says she defeats him.”Gracias a Dios! At least someone had faith in her.“No, no,” another man protested. “One hundred pesos says his cock is this big!”Conchita summoned the bartender for a shot of tequila.

Review: Dark House (EIT #1)
Happy Father's Day!! I thought I would celebrate this lovely day dedicated to dads everywhere, by writing a review of a book I read recently (lol, that's not really why I'm posting it, but it sounds nice, right?)
Anyways... I have been reading like a beast lately. In fact I read a book not too long ago that was SO FREAKING GOOD that I wanted to give 100,000 stars. Yes, sounds crazy, right? This review isn't over that book, lol, I'm such a tease I know. I read that one for the BotM read with the lovely Kenya, Dara, and Alicia, and we aren't discussing until later in the month. (I will definitely be posting a review on here at the time.)
Anyway, I recently read Dark House (Experiment in Terror #1) by Karina Halle.
Blurb: With all the vampire, werewolf and faerie books out there, it's easy to become numb to all things supernatural. The antidote? Darkhouse introduces two real and unforgettable characters, Perry Palomino & Dex Foray, amateur ghost hunters who are "attractive, relatable and oddly heroic," "flawed but loveable," "slightly crazy" and just the most endearing pair to ever tackle the paranormal...just don't call them normal.
Darkhouse is a thrilling and sexy new take on concepts like Supernatural and The X-Files, bringing a breath of fresh air to a genre that has been inundated with the dead.
***Darkhouse and the Experiment in Terror series is a horror/romance for mature audiences only. Readers who are easily offended by harsh language should think twice about reading it.***
My Review:First off: I love the cover. Like WOW. Perfect fit for the book, and just absolutely GORGEOUS!
I previously read Sins & Needles and On Every Street by Karina Halle, and it was those books that prompted me to check out her EIT series. I have to be honest and say that this book definitely didn't disappoint. I like horror books (occasionally) and this one was everything I expected and so much more. I seriously stayed up late terrified of my own shadow while reading this book, and not able to put it down.
The romance/sexual tension in this book is hot. BUT keep in mind this isn't intended as a romance. The relationship between Dex and Perry is secondary to the main plot, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining or hot at the same time.
I really love Perry, the main character. She is very easy to relate to. She is just your average girl leading an average life. She has always struggled with a weight problem and tries very hard to overcome this and have more confidence. She feels like an idiot and clutz a lot of the time and I found myself rooting for her, because she embodies a lot of the characteristics that people/women everywhere deal with on a daily basis. All in all I loved this book.
I give Dark House 5 stars! This book is FREE on Amazon! Go grab your copy now!!

New couple Septimus and Mowriyah have accepted the grave task to embark on a rescue mission back to the Rome, the very place they once fled from. With lives at stake, both are prepared to fight the Roman guards if their plans are discovered, but fighting their emotions is another battle neither expected.
When a past lover resurfaces, the couple is forced to examine their relationship while still trying to carry out their mission. But is their young love strong enough to survive the trials abroad and at sea?
Excerpt:Septimus turned and saw Mowriyah gliding across the boat deck in a beautiful earth-toned gown. It was cut low on her chest and trimmed in a delicate stitching. She was a vision and his loins reacted to her without his consent. Cursing his manhood for acting on instinct, he tried to put on his angry face. Mowriyah slowed. She tilted her head ever so slightly, the wind catching her short, bobbed hair to blow it over her face, making her even more compelling. He watched as she gracefully lifted her hand and tucked the windblown hairs behind her ear. She was batting her eyes. Oh, no. She walked within inches of him and grinned. "May I join you?" Her voice was low and seductive. He felt the anger leave his body and was confounded that she had this type of power over him. He dropped his hardened expression. "Of course." She shuffled closer to him and the rocking of the boat caused her breasts to rub against his arms. What was it about this woman that had him so spellbound? "You are not still angry with me, are you?" "No, I am not angry." He inhaled deeply. "I still do not want you to go though." "I understand." Septimus felt a wave of relief crash through his body. "So, you will stay? Really?" She looked up at him and he could see her defiance in her eyes. "No. I am going with you. I said I understand how you feel." The horror of his worst nightmares came barreling back to him. "Mowriyah, please." He turned to face her completely and then grabbed her forearms to pull her to his chest. "This will not be a safe trip. There will be times that we will have to split up, and I cannot protect you when I am not with you." She raised an eyebrow. "Protect me? And exactly when have I needed your protection?" Her muscles tensed beneath his grip as she tried to slide away from him, but he tightened his hold. "Septimus, we have been here for three months and have been together every day and night, yet I feel you know little about me other than the taste of my skin." "Do not be like that, Mowriyah," he pleaded. "Besides, you know I am right. You have no idea what Leihla looks like, so how would you find her?" "You could tell me, and I would find her." "Tell you what? She is my height, has majestic black hair, and ocean blue eyes." He felt her wiggle beneath his touch. He craved to hold her close to him. But how could he tell her how he felt? If he did, she would want a larger commitment, and he wasn't ready to take Decimus's route yet. There were too many young maidens in Caledonia. "Septimus, let me go." He watched as her face contorted and showed signs of anger. The cute little "V" that formed at her eyebrows when she was furious was evident, and he could feel his manhood awaken with delight. He slid his hands down her arms to her wrists and restrained them in his hands. Mowriyah's head flew up and he locked on to her glare. Her eyes were wide and he knew she was surprised. Tugging her forward, he slammed her into his chest. Her breasts pressed against him and warmed the skin beneath his tunic. With his hands still gripping her tightly, he grinned, feeling her heartbeat speed up. Her mouth twitched at the corners and he watched as she tried to hide a smile by biting her lip. Septimus licked his own lips instinctively. She squirmed, rubbing her breasts against his chest with every writhe. "What am I going to do with you?" he growled. The smile escaped and her face lit up. "That's a good question. What will you do with me?"

Having been an avid reader and a history major in college, writing historical fiction seemed to be the next step in her career. As a multi-published author, she has learned that completing mundane, everyday tasks can spark ideas for her next story. In fact, she was assisting in a science project for one of her children, when the idea for His Seafaring Siren came to her. When she’s not writing, Lisa can be found in her sewing room or watching The History Channel and jotting down notes for her next project. Hundreds of stories have been sketched out and are simply awaiting their place in line. Look for the next book in the “Caledonia’s Captives” series to be coming soon.
When asked about her family, Lisa will be the first to tell you that they are the backbone of not only of her writing career, but anything she chooses to pursue as well. She has been married to her husband for ten years and has five wonderful children, a loveable mop dog, and two very spoiled cats.

I know you're thinking... "Wait...she isn't finished so why are we celebrating?" My answer to that is... WHY NOT? lol. To be honest, I love celebrating AND I love being halfway finished, which is why I'm having this mini blog party.
(this is what I am doing at my computer right now, in case you needed a visual ;))Now I'm sure you're wondering... "What makes this celebration cool?"Welllllll, my lovely blogging friends, I have decided to share a snippet from my WIP with all of you.
Here's a little bit about the book:New Adult Post Apocalyptic Romance where that things that go bump in the night are never sexy...but they are hungry...
Here is the snippet from Chapter One. Now keep in mind, please, that this is an unedited version so it has errors galore I am sure. Oh, and also--before you read--I am still stumped on a title. I really love the name Crave and I think it would be a perfect title, but it has already been used by some extremely popular authors on some extremely popular books. I want to have a title that's different. You know what I mean? After reading the excerpt, if you have some ideas, please feel free to share with me!! I would love to hear your thoughts!
Here it is. The end of her life. Eve always knew it would come, and that it would be just like this. With a swarm of dead flesh and tangling limbs. She knew it wouldn’t be peaceful when she was at a ripe old age, holding her grandchild’s hand and telling stories that he or she had already heard a million times. No, she knew that had never been in the cards for her. Not with the way the world had crumbled four years ago.People had died in waves, the sickness ravaging their bodies within days, some within hours. It wouldn’t have been so bad if they had died and actually stayeddead. Yes, that would have been idyllic. But they didn’t. Once the virus had destroyed them, they came back, a shell of their former self—a jenk. At least that’s what Eve called them. They were what bed-time stories and bad TV shows tried to make before The Reckoning came.Zombies.
Have thoughts on my snippet? Please share with me! :)
Thanks for stopping by and celebrating! ;)

Review: Damaged by H.M. Ward
Review day? Don't mind if I do!
This week I read Damaged by H.M. Ward. Before I say anything about the book I would like say that I love the cover. Definitely a good image of Peter. Props to the cover artist. Now about the book itself...
I picked up this book because I loved the premise--A college student falls for her hottie professor. UMMM YUM. Lol, this is SO my kind of story, which is why I was pretty bummed out when it ended up being not what I thought it would be. *sigh*
I liked both Sidney and Peter BUT more often than not I found myself thinking--What the heck? Sidney seemed to keep doing things that were totally off from the way her character is presented. For example: She hates to be touched, yet she is an all-star swing dancer. How does that happen?Also--the whole book deals with the sexual temptation Peter presents to Sidney and how forbidden it is. Sidney is so tempted by him that she can't keep her hands off of him, yet at the end of the book she lays in bed with Peter (the man who she has already admitted that she loves!) and claims to have no sexual desire for him what-so-ever.
I'm sorry, what? Now I'm not trying to be a total sour puss (really I'm not!) I understand that Sidney has issues in her past and so forth, BUT the entire book built on this hot sexual tension of them dancing and working together in close confines that makes their relationship impossible and ever so tempting--just to end with Sidney's suddenly absent sexual appetite. Like seriously.
Which means... yes you guessed it. There is NO sex in this book.
Now I know how that makes me sound, BUT it should have happened. Poor Peter puts up with a lot of crap when it comes to Sidney. He needs to get laid. Plus the WHOLE book is built on sexual tension. Did I mention that already? Right, I did. *sigh*With all of this being said I didn't hate the book. It just wasn't right for me and seemed to have a lot of character flaws. I give Damaged 2.5 Stars.

Review: Spartan Nights by DJ Lysander
It's been awhile since I've posted a book review, so today is a good day for one. Don't you think?
This post is going to be a little different than some of my previous book reviews. This one is about a book named Spartan Nights. A book I edited. Now, I don't usually review books I edit--not because I hate them all and they suck. (I'm not that evil, guys. Come on cut me some slack!)
I don't usually do it because I am up in the air about whether or not I should do it based on editing etiquette 101. Should I review a book that I edited and didn't particularly care for? Should I review only the ones I liked? Should I review none of them?
These are all questions I ask myself before saying something along the lines of: Fuck it, I'm going to take a nap or play a ridiculously monotonous game on my phone that lowers my brain-cell count by the second. All of that aside, I have chosen to review this book for one reason and one reason only. I liked it. That's right. I've liked other books I've edited as well, though not all of them have reviews. Why? Please refer to my earlier internal argument. I feel like reviewing this book. So here it is.
Isn't the cover cool beans? One of the fun parts of editing is getting to see the cover after you've edited something. I think the artist did a great job on this. He definitely resembles Spartan.
My Review:This book is different than most erotic romances that I have read. This novella is told solely from a man's POV, though there is plenty of women in the story-line. The Spartan wouldn't be the Spartan if there weren't women flocking to him, lol. The Spartan is very interesting character and in spite of the cover, the story is set in present day about a man who dresses up like a Spartan to go to comic book conventions. That's right ladies, he's nerdy, he's hot, and he's an asshole. My favorite kind of hero. (Seriously). The author takes the reader on an interesting ride where we get to experience life solely through the eyes of a guy who is used to getting his way when it comes to women. For those of you who don't particularly like male's with this sort of outlook on life, I still think you would like this book. You end up rooting for the Spartan in the end, not to mention left with a dropped jaw at the ending. I am looking forward to the sequel.Definitely go check it out.I give Spartan Nights 4 stars!

Writing, Zombies, & Why I'm Not Funny
Today I realized that I never blog anymore. Then I thought some more about it...and realized that I never actually use this blog as what I intended it for...writing updates...lol. Funny since I'm a writer and that's all I have to pretty much blog about--yet, I find myself with more guests than I can handle and NO posts from myself. *cue WERT face*
Whoops...
So that's what today's post is all about. ME. Are you excited? The correct answer is yes. If you aren't WELL...I can accept that. I'm not even mad.
Anyyyyywho. I'm going to get serious about with this post. I really am........butt floss. *Covers mouth* I'm sorry...sometimes I have word vomit and it's a problem. I'm a writer though, so that is a good thing, right? I think so.
Writing Update
Things with writing have been going excellent. I only wish I had time to do more of it. Luckily I am taking finals next week and then I will be home free to write and edit my heart out all summer long.
I announced back in March that I signed a three book deal with the fabulous Dragonfairy Press. I'm super happy to say that I finished the first book in the series titled Skin Deep. That's right, I finished!
Needless to say, I am very excited about this. The official cover reveal will be on June 4th with a release date around mid-November.I CANNOT wait to reveal it for everyone to see. It is prettiful!! I will have more info on specifics about Skin Deep in the coming months.
Something cool
I was invited to do a blog radio interview a couple of weeks ago, which was super fun (after I hyperventilated and chewed all of my nails off). LOL jk. I didn't really do that. I don't think... I can't remember much since I blacked out halfway through...JK. The fabulous ladies at Indie Review Behind the Scenes Internet Radio took care of me. On the show I talk about my writing, especially HerStory and my contribution to the anthology. If you're interested in the interview, check it out here.
What am I working on now?If you're curious to know--Right now I am working on New Adult Romance Novel set in North Texas in a post-apocalyptic world where the things that go bump in the night are never sexy...but they are hungry...
I will leave you with that image.
Thanks for stopping by!! :)
Now you're asking..."Wait Megan, why aren't you funny?"
My response: "I think my butt floss joke answers that question."
Whoops...
