Announcing Baker 7

“What is she doing?” Andy asked in a furtive whisper, leaning close to Abby and Phil.

Abby studied the object of his attention for a moment, then pursed her lips. “I know that far-away look.”

They turned to look again at the person staring out the window, her fingers frozen over a keyboard while a wreath of steam curled up from an untouched mug beside her.

Phil glanced at his siblings meaningfully. “I think we can guess what’s going on.”

Andy’s cheek rose in a lopsided grin, and Abby caught the glint in his eyes.

Phil summed up the twins’ thoughts, fears, and excitement in one steady sentence–but even his voice had a thrill of expectancy as he spoke.

“I think she’s sending us on another adventure.”

That’s right! Baker #7 is underway!

The planning stage for this story is about finished, and actual chapters are appearing.

In Iceland Intrigue, are there new characters introduced?

Yes! There are four new characters who play an important role in the story … although one of them is someone the Bakers have heard about before. . . .

Behind the Scenes – Iceland Intrigue

The inspiration for Iceland Intrigue started with a dream to visit the small island smack halfway between the Arctic and northern Atlantic Oceans.

Visiting Iceland became one of those “someday” dreams that was always in the back of my mind. I felt confident, and dearly hoped, it would come to pass at some point in  the future … but this was not to be a dream I would have to hold on to for very long. Friends of ours traveled overseas last summer and had Iceland as a stopover destination. When they returned, they enthralled us with tales of their time there.

“Just go,” they said. “It’s so close. Just go there.”

And within two days, my mother and I had our plane tickets booked.

We were really blessed to be able to see almost everything I’d planned to visit for book research. This added a whole new dimension to the chapters I would pen on my return. Not only could I research information online about history, culture, architecture, and landscape–but I could also refer back to photos and memories of actually experiencing those things.

When is the 6th book coming out?

DV, the paperback book will arrive at Grace & Truth Books in early December from the printers. I’ll announce when the Kindle version releases.

 

How is the “Ey” pronounced in Eyjafjallajokull?

Wonderful question! I spent quite a bit of time practicing this, as it’s bound to come up in discussions of Iceland.
