Friends as Adversaries

Interview with Rashelle Harper

One of only a few characters who appear in all the Precipice Series books to date, Harper graciously granted me a few minutes so I could get her perspective on the goings-on at  Pennington Point Inn. She is a long-time and, at times, belligerent—even reluctant—friend of Elizabeth Pennington who has found herself in a position adversarial to Elizabeth more than once. But let’s hear her side of the story.

Had some fun during quarantine, chatting about my work and the quirky life of a mystery writer. I was honored to be invited by The Storyteller's Cottage in Simsbury, CT. Here's the link to the interview on their YouTube channel. Let me know what you think!

Yummy Orange Macadamia Nut French Toast

As we find ourselves with extra time on our hands, many of us turn to activities we find comforting to fill the void. For many, thats baking or cooking. I thought it would be fun to share a recipe made famous by Pennington Point Inn in the Precipice Series.

Made Famous by Pennington Point Inn

Elizabeth Pennington strives to carry on her familys tradition of keeping a popular inn on the coast of Maine, which includes a Sunday brunch that would not be complete without their Orange Macadamia...

Pages from Elizabeth Pennington’s Diary

False Start

March 25, 2020

Just when we were gearing up to open the inn for the season, weve had to put on the brakes with no idea when well get the all-clear. I know its the right thing to do to slow the spread of the Corona Virus, but effective today the inn has been shuttered per the governors mandate that only essential businesses be openand those have strict guidelines within which to operate. Were all using terms never spoken before like social distancing, shelter-in-place, and...

Secrets and Hiding Places

What is Elizabeth Pennington Keeping from Us?

I had a moment to sit down and chat with none other than Elizabeth Pennington, the protagonist in the Precipice Series and sole heir to her familys estate, which includes the highly popular Pennington Point Inn on the coast of Maine. She shares an intimate glimpse into her past which naturally shaped who she is today, with all the warts, blemishes, and secrets along the way. Penny

Penny Goetjen: If you dont mind Elizabeth, lets go back to your...

New Release! MURDER RETURNS TO THE PRECIPICE

I'm thrilled to announce the release of MURDER RETURNS TO THE PRECIPICE on October 17, 2019.

Elizabeth Pennington returns to her roots to reopen her family’s historic inn, which she lovingly restored to its New England charm after a powerful hurricane nearly destroyed it. Unseen forces, however, seem hell-bent on derailing her efforts, or worse—taking her out of the picture. The untimely death of a young female guest in the inn’s fitness center appears to be a tragic accident until authorities investigate and find there is more than meets the eye. When a second body is discovered, Elizabeth fears the worst—a killer in their midst. Feeling the strain from a mountain of debt and the pressure to carry on in her grandmother’s footsteps as keeper at the popular inn, Elizabeth is crushed when the town begins foreclosure proceedings, yet remains steadfast in her quest to carry on her family’s legacy—until the killer comes after her.

Rockland Harbor Breakwater - Inspiration for MURDER ON THE PRECIPICE

A recent visit to Rockland, Maine's iconic lighthouse and breakwater felt like I was walking in Elizabeth Pennington's shoes in MURDER ON THE PRECIPICE. The lighthouse looks like a speck at the end of the 9/10 of a mile breakwater. The boulders lay haphazardly in places. You must keep an eye on where you place your feet to avoid slipping into a crevice and turning an ankle. Have a look at the pics:

Free E-book in Exchange For Honest Review

WHO: Anyone who loves a suspenseful mystery set on the coast of Maine

WHAT: Free e-book of MURDER ON THE PRECIPICE in exchange for honest review on Goodreads and Amazon

WHEN: Now until August 31, 2019

WHERE: Right here on Goodreads

HOW: Email me at disappearinamystery@gmail.com and select mobi or epub format

Set in a deceptively warm and cozy inn on the rocky coast of Maine, MURDER ON THE PRECIPICE depicts the story of a missing female guest with eerie similarities to an unsolved disappearance years earlier when the property was used as an all-girls school.

Family obligations force Manhattan interior designer Elizabeth Pennington to put the big city in her rear view mirror and return to the inn, her childhood home where, in a tragic twist of fate, she lost her parents at a tender age. Faced with her grandmother’s failing health strained by the pressures of running the family business, Elizabeth navigates treacherous waters to save the inn from a killer in their midst. But in her search for answers as a deadly hurricane barrels up the coast, she uncovers details that question everything she thought she knew about herself, her family and her past.

Hope you enjoy your escape to the coast of Maine in MURDER ON THE PRECIPICE. Thanks in advance. Penny
