November bargain historical fiction.

It seems to me that a monthly blog is all I can manage, slotting in with the monthly update of the website and the author pages. How do other authors manage?

I've been reading and feel up to recommending:

'Painted in Blood' by Ilaria Tuti an unusual Italian police procedural crime mystery. The second book of the trilogy. Intelligent and original indeed even for my jaded pallet.

'Death at the Old Asylum' by Adrian Magson

This Authorprenure marketing business is exhausting!

Three cheers for Matariki  and the new year it brings.

It seems to me that I've done everything backwards. Just when I need a huge amount of energy, an ultra agile brain, and a willingness to become a techy expert on the computer I'm finding growing older makes me slow down, be reluctant to tackle all that new computer tech stuff, and settle for a nap after lunch.

Why didn't I follow my writer's path when I was younger, ah well, that wasn't the woman's lot was it? Family and husband first. Inst...

At last, only a year and a half late thanks to the evil events at St Luke's, the ebook is out with Smashwords, Kobo and Amazon. The print book has its launch party on the 31st of March. All welcome to a riotous hour of free books, free food and authors letting off steam in our local library.

One of the nice things about small local communities is that one has easy access to precious things. Our local museum has put many of its photos online. I found a trove of 1880s photographs in an album taken...

 Computer Rage.

I HATE computers! I hate the internet and pushy old Google trying to make me use google systems. And I really hate that they make me feel so stupid because I don’t understand how they work and can’t make ‘em work.

You guessed it. I’m struggling to make the technology work. There has to be the promotion, to a landing page (what’s that?) then there must be a link from the landing page to a chain of emails which have to be written and set for certain dates. Ouch! And why...

Where's the year vanishing to?

Oh bother! the virus is out in Auckland and it would be the UK quick spreading version. We knew it would happen but the moaning and grizzling is a pain to listen to. What's more life threatening? A struggle to keep a business open or watching people die of the virus? Beat the  virus then we can sort things out. Things  have to change. Our far too much reliance of tourists means that there are too many little cafes, restaurants and small business aimed solely at th...

I’m a fickle reader. My favourites change with every book I read and I read one a day. I have a set of old friends I reread, loving both the writing style and the characters. Patricia McKillip, Rosemary Sutcliff, L. M. Boston, J.K. Rowling, Diana Wynne Jones, Cynthia Voight, C.J. Cherrhy are a few of these. I need old favourites, comfortable reads with character friends to send me to sleep or my dreams are full of the terrible things happening in this nightmare time we are currently living thr...
