I will be hanging with the CAUTIONARY FABLES AND FAIRY TALES crew.  And we’ll all just generally be awesome.

Hey! I picked up scraps year 2 at New Orleans wizard con and absolutely loved it :) do you have advice for people who are starting a journal comic?

Glad you enjoyed the book!

As far as advice for journal comicking goes, set a reasonable goal.  The key to many good journal comics is regularity, not quantity.  It’s okay if it’s something you can only do once a month, as long as it’s something YOU DO once a month.

Making your readers guess when the next comic will be out will cause them to lose interest.  But clockwork updates will build trust from the audience.

And make sure that it’s a goal/deadline you can do without putting yourself out too much.  Some people push too hard and the resultant work schedule will burn them out too quickly.  Make sure the goal and schedule you set up for yourself will build discipline, but also allow you to live comfortably.

Good luck!
