Description:

A three panel colored comic.

Panel 1: Essex, the lead for BLACK CLOAK, is intensely taking a picture of something with her futuristic phone/hologram thingie. The sound effect ‘click click’ sits above her head alongside several sparkles.

Panel 2: The panel shifts to show what Essex is taking pictures of. It’s several nicely prepared dishes. There are more sparkles and another 'click click’ of a camera shutter as she takes more pictures.

Panel 3: The camera shifts again. Darkened in the extreme foreground is all the kitchen utensils and dishes she used to make dinner. They are stacked messily and forgotten. Who knows when they’ll be cleaned. Past the kitchenette, we see several little Essex’s bustling around her little dining table to take more pictures from several different angles. 'Click clicks’ abound.

Heya, I just read your travelogue comic book It’s All Greek and I wanted you to know it really moved me. Thanks for making and sharing this comic, I loved it!

I once thought of a story line, like, a decade ago about how a tear just opened up in the sky….

I once thought of a story line, like, a decade ago about how a tear just opened up in the sky. Probably aliens. I think I opted for aliens. So, you’d have this big old tear in the sky. Miles long. Everywhere else is blue with fluffy clouds. But right here there’s this ugly gash and it’s so very wrong.

But the thing is, it wouldn’t show up on camera.

So you’d have this population of people, looking up at the sky, going ‘What is happening and why isn’t anyone doing something about it? This is terrifying.’

And the media going.

'What is?’

The plot wouldn’t resolve with anything being done about the tear in the sky. It would resolve when the people directly affected could prove SOMETHING IS WRONG.

IF they could prove it.

And also something something something about how news media shapes perception. Yeah.

Shoulda done that story.

Would have felt like a goddamn prophet.
