Keep Calm and Carry On
Australian literary journal Kill Your Darlings has published my article 'Keep Calm and Carry On: An Unexpected Path to Publication', about the process of writing Burial Rites, in the newly-released Issue 13 (April 2013). (Note, it does contain a spoiler.) See below:

Matilda Bookshop Event
I'm delighted to announce that I will be participating in a 'Meet the Author' event at the beautiful Matilda Bookshop in Stirling, South Australia, on the 7th of May at 6pm.

If you live in the Adelaide Hill...

Introducing the US Cover
The US cover for Burial Riteshas now been released! After some early mock-ups, a photo shoot, and some magic worked by Little, Brown's designers, this is what resulted. While it's vastly different from both the Australian cover, and the UK jacket, I think it's absolutely lovely. Very much looking forward to seeing this one in hardback.

Welcome
Hello, and welcome to my new website. My name is Hannah Kent, and here you'll be able to mosey through and find out a little about who I am and the book I've written: Burial Rites (due for release this year in Australia in May, and in the UK and North America in September).
Set in northern Iceland in 1829, my debut novel tells the story of Agnes Magnúsdóttir, a servant who was condemned to death for her role in the murder of two men.
If you're keen to read a little more about what it's about, r...
