Rachel Higginson’s Love and Decay
I’ve fallen in love with this series.
It’s zombies, friendship and romance at the end of the world.
And it is awesome. Well I think so anyway!
I read books 2-6 (omnibus 1-6) last week, after reading episode one as a freebie, and couldn’t stop thinking about it so I went and bought books 7-12 (also in the omnibus) today and I’m starting it right now to see how things work out for the Parkers, Reagan, Haley and the two recent arrivals to the gang.
If you like the sound of it, you should so go and check it out on Amazon or Goodreads!

Cover Reveal – Captivate Me by S.J. Pierce
Name: Captivate Me
Author: S.J. Pierce
Release Date: April 1st
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Young Adult
Synopsis:
“My mom had always told me – when you meet “the one”, you’ll know; they’ll captivate your heart the moment you lay eyes on them. I had always wondered, though, if my mom’s words of wisdom were finite – if they applied to everyone. Maybe those who had found their one great love were the lucky few, and maybe the rest of us would have to settle for less than earth-shattering.”
Seventeen-year-old Kat Walsh is a Gifted – a human with paranormal abilities. With her mom a former Angel and her dad a dream prophet, it’s always been in her genetic make-up to be extraordinary. Unfortunately for her, the world can’t handle the strange or unusual. So when she slips up and uses her powers at her high school in Ireland, the entire student body treats her like a freak – even the ones she thought were her closest friends.
Broken, but hopeful for a fresh start, she allows her parents to enroll her in a boarding school buried deep within the forests of a small Colorado town. At Midland Pines, School for the Gifted, she feels as though she can finally be herself; she makes new friends and even has the attention of the most popular guy in school – Levi. Everything feels normal again… or does it?
Not long after her arrival, weird dreams of an alluring boy whom she’s never met surface during the night, and the eerie, shadowy trees encircling their school seem to call to her. As these disturbing, yet enticing developments intensify, other bizarre occurrences happen – students and staff turn up missing, and mystery visitors leave gifts while she sleeps. With all of these other things vying for her attention, a desperate Levi has to fight even harder to keep her interest. But with the dreams of the attractive boy slowly captivating her heart, Kat has to make a choice – will she settle for ‘great’ Levi, or will she search for her elusive dream visitor, possibly stumbling across ‘amazing?’
From the author of the Alyx Rayer Chronicles, comes a refreshingly different Young Adult series with plenty of love, suspense, and a new take on the Paranormal.
Recommended for readers 16 and up due to mature content.

About the Author:
Susan James Pierce has a degree in Marketing Management, works for a Fortune 500 company in Atlanta, Georgia, and devotes her precious, spare time to writing Fantasy and Sci-fi novels. Even though her full-time career has nothing to do with books at all, she has always enjoyed complex storytelling with fascinating characters, and has had a penchant for the written word since grade school. As a matter of fact, her first publishing credit was a poem she wrote at the age of twelve. Why her love for writing never translated into a career, she can only attribute to ‘life happens’, but her wish is that she can redirect her career path into something that satisfies her creative inner-self.

Nightfall by Anne Stuart

Nightfall
Continuing with reading something other than New Adult, I bought this the other week and it’s been doing a siren call, wanting me to read it. I finally gave in and started it on the 19th and finished this earlier today. And it was GOOD!
Synopsis:
This is my fate…to die for unspeakable crimes. All I ask is that a stranger give herself to me and to my secrets.
Richard Tiernan has been sentenced to death. With an ulterior motive and a heart full of dark truths, he agrees to tell all to an ailing writer whose greed and ambition are so strong that he will even give his own daughter to Richard in return for one last Pulitzer-winning story.
I want Cassidy Roarke. I need her. But she has to prove she’s worthy. That she can be trusted.
Cassidy’s spent her life struggling to earn her father’s respect and love. Now his health is failing, and her feelings for him are even more complex. Loyalty is a sacrifice. Daughters can be broken by their fathers. She has to help when he calls. He’s bailed Richard Tiernan out of prison just long enough to coax the shocking facts out of him. What happened that night? What did Tiernan really do to his family?
Her father will sell his soul to the Devil before he dies. So be it.
Richard Tiernan may take them both to Hell.
I was so intrigued with the storyline.
It was done in such a way that it drew you into the mystery surrounding Richard Tiernan and the murder of his wife and disappearance of his two young children. It leaves you questioning your thoughts continuously. One minute, I believed he’d done it, the next not so sure. In my opinion that makes it brilliant.
I found it hard to put down and if I did manage to, I was continually thinking about it, trying to work it all out. I’ve added a screenshot of my updates while reading the book:
It’s a great romantic suspense that leaves you guessing and rather dark in it’s content but I really, really, liked it.

eBay
So.
I used to buy a lot of my paperback books from Amazon but after it scrapped it’s “Free Super-Saver Delivery” option, I decided to try elsewhere and eBay was my next choice and above are the books I’ve bought in the past two weeks that have all cost me under £4. Heist Society, Lothaire and Across the Universe are like new, while Matched, The Body Finder and Hex Hall have slight damage but I’m not fussed about that.
I’m trying to wean myself off my addiction to NA and after reading and loving Heist Society, I think it may just be working

Lindsay Buroker
I know I normally post about New Adult books and stuff so I thought I’d go for something different today and mention an author I love but who doesn’t seem to be so well known, though she has quite a lot of fans.
Lindsay Buroker.
She writes science-fiction/fantasy with a bit of steampunk thrown in, generally with a touch of humour and romance too. I absolutely adore her work and that’s why I’m writing this post. If you want to check her books out, the first in her Emperor’s Edge series, is permanently free; it’s a full length novel, as is the first in her Flash Gold Chronicles, which are novella length.
Or you can check out her website: http://www.lindsayburoker.com to find out more.

It’s simple: Get Kennedy on his yacht, seduce her, get her out of his system, move on with his life. That sounds easy enough, right?

Happy New Year!
I’d like to wish everyone a happy new year! Hope it’s a good one
Writing wise, Charlotte & Sebastian, is still going strong. I’m on Chapter 8 and it’s just getting to another good bit :D. As for books 0.5 and 3 in my Shifter Romance Novella series, well, I haven’t been having much luck with them, but there’s a whole year ahead and you never know what might happen. *fingers crossed* I’ve been working on other things too, but I’ll not mention much about them since they might not work out in the end.

Book Review – Elect
Name: Elect (Eagle Elite, #2)
Author: Rachel Van Dyken
Genre: New Adult, Mystery
Release Date: 10th December 2013
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I received this ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Would you die for the one you love?
Nixon Abandonato made his choice. And now he has to pay the price. Tracey is the love of his life, but being with him has made her a target of his family’s enemies. The only way to keep Trace alive is convince the world she means nothing to him.
Trace Rooks has fallen irrevocably in love with the son of her family’s sworn rival, and she knows in her bones nothing can tear them apart. Until Nix suddenly pushes her away and into the arms of his best friend… But Trace isn’t ready to give up on a future with Nix–and if he won’t fight for them, she will.
In the end, a sacrifice must be made. A life for a life. For what better way to cover a multitude of sins than with the blood of a sinner . . .
You can find my review of the first book, Elite, here
This one seemed more of a mystery than the first. Who was behind the killing? Who was Phoenix scared of? What did he know that made him so scared? Ooh, let the snooping begin.
So we’re back with our beloved characters from the first: Nixon, Trace, Chase, Mo, Tex…Phoenix, and we’re still hip deep in the family business. Only this time it’s worse, much worse. The original Sicilian family is on it’s way over to investigate the death of another leader and it isn’t looking good for anyone.
After Phoenix’s actions in the last one, I cant say I was very warm at his reappearance in this but the more I read the more I began to feel sorry for him. He wasn’t all bad; he’d just been forced to do bad things from an early age, stuff he didn’t want to do and it had begun to be ingrained in him. In the end, he did the right thing and that put him back up with the rest of ‘em for me.
Chase. *sigh* He’s such a great guy and deserves happiness. I loved him in Elite but in this…well, I fell even faster and harder, seeing how he struggles with his feelings while at the same time trying to do the right thing. Nawwwww, he’s lovely. :’)
I was intrigued throughout when more information came out about who the bad guy was and I was eagerly awaiting his demise for the last 20% or so of the book.
It’s hard to write too much without spoiling it. All I’ll say is that the ending has left me wanting more!!
If you read and enjoyed the first, you should totally check this out too.
