Wolf Claimed – Word Count as of now (09:43)

wordcount

I might as well start doing this again because it helped last time. I’m going to do a bit of work on it now, Chapter 3, and hopefully Monday, when all the craziness of work and training have disappeared from my life for the week, I’ll get quite a bit written on it :)

Book Review – Seducing the Demon Huntress

SeducingDemon-189x300

Name: Seducing the Demon Huntress

Author: Victoria Davies

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Demons

Release Date: 3rd June 2013

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

So this tells the story of Kerilyn, a demon hunter whose entire family has been killed by the people she hunts. It’s Halloween and every year for the past nine years, Arawn – The Lord of Shadows – has been waiting just beyond the gates of her house. Kerilyn cant help but be tempted by his good looks and smouldering glances but denies herself the opportunities to get to know him, knowing he is more than likely only after killing her like his brother has killed the rest of her family. When her niece is taken by Arawn’s brother, she has no choice but to go beyond the protected gate and to go up against the demon that haunts her thoughts and his evil brother.

I really enjoyed this book!

Maybe it was the sexiness of Arawn and his obvious desire for Kerilyn. Though we see everything from Kerilyn’s side it was fairly obvious he wanted her and he had a sneaky way of going about it :P

There was a fair amount of action in it too and I found myself willing them on in the end.

It may have been short but it certainly kept me entertained.

Anyone want to…?

My friend Natalie is now offering her book, Blue Moon Rising, up for Read-it-Review-it requests. So I thought id help her spread the message.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Here’s the synopsis:

Book 1 in the Patroness Series:

Maiwenn Cadic doesn’t have a quiet and normal life. This week won’t be any different.

Being the Patroness of Paris and protecting its inhabitants is a full time job but unfortunately it doesn’t pay the bills and so Maiwenn tries her best to make a living as a down-on-her luck private eye for odd cases.

When five shapeshifters end up dead, she knows it’s bad news and has to call in The Council. They immediately send their assassin Kylian ‘The Killer’ Tremaine – a typical shapeshifter who doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer and seems to see everything female as a damsel in distress which Maiwenn is really not.

Together they will not only have to overcome their prejudices and obstacles in the form of a trigger-happy bounty hunter and a hungry rogue, but they will also have to trust each other in order to solve the murder before more bodies pile up.

16+, some content may not be suitable for younger readers

If you’re interested, go here: http://n-herzer.blogspot.fr/ and enter your details in the box at the side.

I’m not sure how she’s going about the giveaway but it’s a good book if you like paranormal with a splash of romance and a dash of intrigue and action. I gave it 5 stars because it was original and takes you on a nice journey through Paris.

Changes to #0.5 and #2

Well I sent off three stories to Natalie the other day(road too…, #0.5 and #2) and we were discussing plotlines and The Shifter Romance ones will be changing.

Instead of #2 running along the same plotline as #1, I’m now going to make #0.5 into a story about Misha having a brother who was also given a wolf as a life mate. His parents gave him an ultimatum and he chose his mate instead of his family, much to their hatred and he is then disowned/cut out and is never mentioned aloud again. This will then play a part of the second book. It will still have the side-plot of Kaitlin’s dad bringing down Jonah.

Book #2 will then be as I put on my previous post with Darren, the other wolf pack leader, wanting his members back and taking Misha thinking she’s Kaitlin and using her a bargaining tool. The Brent can go all crazy dominant wolf getting her back and then claiming her. Might put a reappearance of her brother in it…

Book Review – White Trash Beautiful

whitetrashbeautiful

Name: White Trash Beautiful

Author: Theresa Mummert

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary

Release Date: 19th September 2012

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I received this copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have literally just finished reading this and cant wait to read the second one!

So this tells the story of Cass, a girl who lives in a trailer park with her drug-addict mum and boyfriend. She works in a diner just behind the park and is trying to save up the money for a better life, with her mum and boyfriend in rehab and her in a nice house. When Tucker White walks in and begins flirting with her she just thinks he’s after what everyone else is…an easy lay. But Tucker is different. He knows what it’s like to be from the wrong side of the tracks and starts to show Cass that she can do much better for herself.

I really enjoyed this (as you may have gathered by the amount of time it’s taken me to read it) and couldn’t help but urge Cass to leave her abusive boyfriend and to run away with Tucker. A slightly crazy move when she’d only known him a few days, but for me, if I can become emotionally involved, then it’s a good book. And I was so emotionally involved in this.

Tucker was a charmer and I think I seriously fell for him in those first few pages. Then when he sticks up for her, considering he doesn’t really know her, when her boyfriend comes in I went all *sigh* swooning.

Cass on the other hand has never believed she was worthy of more than she had and that was kinda hard to read. To believe you being hit and pushed around is all you deserve simply because you’re hiding a bit of money away in the hopes of a better life is quite sad and I really felt for her.

But then Tucker appeared and showed her she could have more and again *sigh*

As you may have gathered I quite liked this book and I’m looking forward to reading more from Cass and Tucker :)

Book Review – The Silver Chain

the silver chain

Name: The Silver Chain

Author: Primula Bond

Genre: Erotica, Romance

Release Date: 4th July 2013

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This tells the story of Serena Folkes, a twenty year old photographer from Devon who decides to leave her seaside hometown to go to London in the hopes of her work becoming recognised and sought after. The next night, Halloween, Serena is out taking pictures of the children and other things when she runs into Gustav Levi. After leaving/forgetting her camera’s in his hands that night she is eager to get them back, only to find that Gustav has looked through her photo’s and is interested in hosting her work in his gallery…on one condition…

When I was offered this it was described as being like 50 Shades of Grey and the Crossfire series. Having liked both of these I thought I’d give it a go. In a way it was like them: young girl meets wealthy business man and can’t deny the sexual attraction. Unfortunately for me, it didn’t quite measure up. It didn’t draw me in straight away.

In fact, it took me a while to get into it. That might have been down to Gustav’s attitude and the fact he wasn’t very good at explaining what he wanted. It put me off a bit, I guess, and I couldn’t always understand the attraction. Serena, too, was a bit of a puzzle. The way she reacted sometimes; though that could probably be put down to her age.

After finishing the story I’ve been left with some questions. Why wouldn’t Gustav kiss her until near the end? Why did he with-hold from having sex with her for so long? What sort of lifestyle were Gustav and his wife involved with before? And why were Serena’s “parents” so horrible to her?

I suppose since this is the first in the trilogy that we will get answers to some of these in the following books. If I’m honest, I’m not sure if I’d be interested in continuing the series, though that ending has most definitely whetted my appetite.

Overall it was a god story that kept me wondering where it was heading but for me, having read 50 Shades and the Crossfire series, it just didn’t quite do it for me.

That being said, don’t dismiss a book without at least trying it for yourself first.

Not had much time

Well I haven’t really had much time to write this past week because I’ve offered to look through Natalie Herzer’s stories for her for any typo’s before she offers them out as Read-it-Review-it titles. I’m probably managing about 30/40 pages in a morning/midday before I have to start getting ready for work in the evening as Fire Marshall/Safety Steward at Rotherham United F.C.

Fingers crossed, I’ll have more time next week and will start implementing my plot in Book 2 of the “Shifter Romance Novella” series.

As for my reviewing, I’m 64% through The Silver Chain and have been invited to review another book:

the sundering

I’m not entirely sure what it’s about because it didn’t explain on NetGalley, so if anyone can fill me on that I’d be grateful :D

My request for White Trash Beautiful has also been accepted:

I think I just need to take a week or two to read through these ARC’s I’ve been approved for and some others but that probably wont happen for a while yet :/

I got an E-mail

So, I checked my emails about ten minutes ago and I was surprised to see one off NetGalley. They occasionally send you one with new releases on the site. Well this one told me I’d been auto-approved to read this:

the silver chain

It’s my first ever auto-approved book so I was like :O and then I was like I must accept it, even though I hadn’t really read the description properly.

So for once, I am going to read an ARC before it actually comes out, like you’re supposed to. So I am currently reading it (I’ve put Acid on hold).

It sounds very interesting, here’s it’s synopsis:

Bound by passion, she was powerless to resist.

One dark evening in London, photographer Serena Folkes is indulging her impulsive side with a night-time shoot. But someone is watching her – mysterious entrepreneur Gustav Levi. Serena doesn’t know it yet, but this handsome stranger will change her life forever…

Serena is fascinated by Gustav, the enigmatic owner of the Levi Gallery, and she soon feels an irresistible pull of attraction. The interest is mutual, and Gustav promises to launch Serena’s photographic career at his gallery, but only if Serena agrees to become his exclusive companion.

To mark their agreement, Gustav gives Serena a bracelet to wear at all times. Attached to it is a silver chain of which he is the keeper. With the chain Gustav controls Serena physically and symbolically – a sign that she is under his power.

As their passionate relationship intensifies, Gustav’s hold on the silver chain grows stronger. But will Gustav’s dark past tear them apart?

An erotic romance novel perfect for fans of 50 Shades of Grey and Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series. The Silver Chain is the first in the sexy, passionate and addictive Unbreakable Trilogy by Primula Bond.

I will post my review as soon as I finish it! :D

A 2 Star Review

I’ve just seen I’ve got a 2 star review on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1K2HQT5C9ZFRA/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1K2HQT5C9ZFRA

Hmm…I guess it could have been longer and more detailed. Not sure about the typo’s though :/ I think I need to make sure people know I’m British and therefore don’t spell everything the same as Americans (this is a point that pees me off big style sometimes)

Requests…

So I’ve been scanning my reviews on Amazon and GoodReads and I’ve seen that someone wants to know what happened before Cat’s Wolf, i.e. why the cat’s and wolves are enemies, and someone wants more of Kaitlin and Rhys. So maybe I could do a 0.5 and a 1.5?

I have just written a little starter of what 0.5 could be and it’s from Paul Mahone’s viewpoint. This is what I’ve got so far (baring in mind I have literally just wrote it):

Paul Mahone bowed his head in deference to his leader, Jonah, but his jaguar rebelled against the movement. Both he and the cat knew he could take the older man if he wanted to. But no, he had another plan.

The other man was getting old and weak in his decision making. He was making the cat’s look soft. Something he and many of the other cat clan members despised.

As you may have gathered, we’re going to like him less now than we did before. We’re going to find out why the cat’s and the wolves are enemies and at who’s hand that happened. I’ve just remembered someone mentioned the mating bond too and how you know they are “the one”. I may even include a bit of little girl Kaitlin and her belief in her daddy. Still undecided on that yet but she will have been born. Therefore Cat’s Wolf will have place about twenty years later.

1.5 will take place between Cat’s Wolf and *Wolf Claimed*, which means it will answer questions as to which you might have had if not for it… Like house hunting (because Rhys’ pack move out of the Crescent Bay and into a huge mansion like house to house them all) and I’m sure more sex (because they’re a very passionate couple and cant resist each other) and more members joining from their old pack.

That’s got me thinking now for book 2. What about Rhys’ old pack leader–cant remember his name, considering I only mentioned him twice near the beginning of book 1–trying to get his old members back and in the process taking Misha thinking she was Kaitlin as a bargaining tool? Hmm…it’s a plot, which is more than I had before. Then Brent could go all domineering wolf trying to get her back. And then when he gets her back, he can claim her! Making *Wolf Claimed* a very suitable name.

Does my logic work? What do we reckon? YAY or NAY?
