Was a Mothman Captured in Quebec, Canada in the 1890s?

The following historical account is from my archives. Interesting article submitted by a friend in Australia:

By Jon Wyatt - Did a young farmer kill a Mothman near a Quebec village in about 1892? The evidence is intriguing.

The original 1890's press story was so sensational it couldn't be true, however it turns out the witnesses named in the story were real people from notable Quebec families; so if the people were real, was the cryptid real also? Here is the story 'A Remarkable Creature', with a commentary:

“A most extraordinary story comes from Joliette, Canada... It is an account of the killing at the little village of Ste Emelie de l'Energie of a monster half bird, half beast, whose classification will puzzle the most deeply-learned naturalist... the Enquirer correspondent has the story from the mouth of Mr. Medard Lassalle, a wealthy and reputable farmer of Ste Emelie de l'Energie, whose son, Joseph Lassalle, captured and killed it, and also from three well-known residents of Joliette, where the monster now is being prepared for exhibition to the scientists of McGill University of Montreal.”

Sainte-Emelie-de-l'Energie (pop. About 1600) is a French speaking village located 119 kms (74 mi) north of Montreal, Canada-- at the intersection of Routes 131 and 347. It's in a valley and the nearby hills - lair of the monster - are covered by a mixed forest of sugar maple, yellow birch and white birch trees. According to 1891 census records M. Medard Lassalle or Lasalle, 52, was married, residing in the district and the father of 10 children. Joseph Lasalle, the fifth child, was born in 1870 and was aged about 23 – not 35 - when he allegedly shot the flying monster. Joseph married Louise Gadourey at Sainte-Emelie-de-l'Energie in 1895 and the couple were raising three children in 1901.

“The story of the capture of the bird-beast and the description is as a follows. For two weeks past the farmers of Ste Emelie de l'Energie and neighbouring villages have suffered from the depredation of some beast of prey, who nightly visited their sheepfolds and carried off some of their finest lambs. It was generally supposed that a bear was in the neighbourhood, and the farmers have been on the alert for the capture of his bearship.

“On Wednesday of last week, Joseph Lassalle, a big young fellow of 35 years, went in search of the supposed bear, armed with a double-barrelled rifle. Some five miles [8 kms] back in the wood from the village named he was startled by hearing a loud croaking cry, and looking upward he saw, circling high up in the air, an immense creature that he at first to be a monster eagle.

“The bird, or whatever it was, was rapidly descending, and Lassalle, who is a crack marksman, took careful aim and fired. The monster was struck and badly wounded by the heavy rifle bullet, and, screaming with pain and rage, it came tumbling to the earth. As it landed he gave it the other barrel of the rifle, and still thinking it was an eagle, rushed on with his clubbed gun.


“A terrible battle ensued, lasting for several moments; then the victory was with the man, and the monster lay dead at this feet. He had now time for a closer inspection of his game, but the thing presented such an awful and unnatural appearance that he was terror-stricken and ran back to the village for help.

“He was accompanied [back to the scene] by this father and four other young farmers. The monster was then carefully examined by the farmers, who described it as as follows. It had two great wings measuring fifteen feet [4.8 metres] from tip to tip. The head, which was fifteen inches [38 cms] in circumference, resembled that of a large monkey. The body was five feet [152 cms] long, and, while the back part was covered with big black feathers, the under part was covered with a fur or coarse hair. The feet or claws resembled the legs of a wolf, and under the tail feathers was a long appendage with a tuft at the end that looked like the tail of a large calf. Lying with wings extended on the ground the monster looked as big as a horse, and when weighed was found to turn the scales at 300 pounds [136 kgs]. A team had to be sent for to bring it back to the village.”

Well, what was it? If it wasn't a giant bird perhaps it was a monstrous bat. Well mega bats aka fruit bats and flying foxes are not found in North or South America and the largest specimens, found in Australia and the Philippines, weigh-in at a few pounds. We may well ask, was it a Mothman?

“This was seen by Mr Alder Charland, a councillor of the town of Joliette, who was going through the country purchasing produce. He bought the monster probably for exhibition purposes from the Lassalles, and Friday evening last it was brought by train to his place of business in Joliette, where it in now in process of preparation to prevent decay, after which it will be shipped to Montreal for scientific examination.

Joliette (pop. 20,000 today) is located about 50 kms (31 mi) north east of Montreal. M. Alderie Charland appears in the 1892 and 1893 church interment records of Saint Paul's Cathedral in Joliette when he held the office of deputy chief of the district of Joliette. The story says he transported the decomposing carcass to Joliette by train; however, as there was no railway station in the village he probably carted it east by road, along what is today Route 347, to Berthier and from there to Joliette by train, a journey of about 65 kms (40 mi). The story ends with:

“Those who claim to have seen the monster say it is the most extraordinary sight they ever witnessed, and it is hardly possible that all the respectable men who tell this story about it can be lying, and, if not, what can the monster be that is at present causing such a sensation at the Joliette district of the province?” Source: Maitland Mercury, NSW, Australia, 14 February 1893.

So what happened to the alleged flying monster? well, that is the $64,000 question. If M. Charland took it to Montreal for examination it may well have disappeared into the vaults of the scientific establishment to be never seen again.

Young 'Eyeless' Girl Manifests Along Dark Back Road in the Poconos

A man and his girlfriend are traveling along a back road in the Poconos one night. They then encounter 2 young girls, both wearing early period clothing, who are standing on the edge of the road.

The recently came across the following account:

"I hope to have some insight, advice, or help on what happened about two weeks ago. I need some help to identify what exactly happened to help two family members who have not been right since the sighting.

In 2013, I moved with my family to a foreclosed 6 bedroom home on 14 acres straight up in the middle of nowhere in the Poconos. My father and I noticed very weird things going on the second we moved in, but my mother and sister seemed to not notice these things. Everyone besides me and my dad in my entire family are the, “Oh, it was the wind” type of people (if you get what I mean). Not going to go into everything that happened there as it would fall under different paranormal phenomenon. There is some evidence that the entire area of where this house is located is haunted (as in ghosts and Native American burial grounds, and other things). Now, historically speaking with actual evidence, people settled here around the Old Sciota Mill area (Sciota, PA) long ago and brutally killed many Iroquois Indians. This area is very spread out over miles of heavily wooded mountains.

Two weeks ago, my uncle on my mother’s side and his girlfriend came to visit my parent's home. They do this quite often as my parents always have people over for beer, games, bonfires, etc. I just want to start off by saying my uncle is a non-believer, a Harley rider to this day. I have never seen him really scared of anything or anyone (before this sighting).

My uncle and his girlfriend are playing foosball with my parents, when they realize it is 12:30 AM so they decide to head home. They take all back roads and once they turn onto Running Valley Road (6 minutes from the house), my uncle’s girlfriend sees two figures (they were pretty far away at this point). It was two small figures waiting to cross the road. Just to mention, there was nothing out here. No houses (besides one abandoned house that was still two miles up the road). Only thing in the vicinity is a cave. These figures were attempting to cross the road to go into the woods, which was very odd because of the time and location.

They are now approaching these figures (headlights start to shine directly on them). Both my uncle and his girlfriend see two young girls aged 9-11 approximately. One much bigger than the other, wearing what my uncle best describes as “early 1900’s church clothing.” Specifically, dresses to the knee, with white cotton shawls or cropped sweaters, and flats. Weird, right? WTF are two 10 year old girls doing at 12:30 AM in the middle of nowhere wearing church clothing? They also notice the bigger child had her arms wrapped around the smaller one. Like you would do if she was hurt, scared or cold.

At this point my uncle's girlfriend is like, “It’s children. We need to stop and help!” Now at this point, the truck is almost right next to the little girls. Both had their heads held down. Then the bigger of the two starts to pick her head up to look at the passing vehicle. Then both my uncle and his girlfriend notice the girl has no eyes. Just black holes, as if they were carved straight from her face. His girlfriend says, “WTF was that? You saw that, right? OMG, turn around and go back right now!” My uncle, who is scared shitless, takes off flying to get home.

They get home and get into an argument because she wants to drive back and see what was up. Grabs her own car keys and my uncle basically was like, “You're not going back there! We're never going on that road again!”

He calls my parents, in an extreme panic, tells them and they start bugging because they know he would never lie or be that freaked out if it wasn’t warranted. So, my mom starts to tell me everything (mind you, my fam knows NOTHING of black eye kids, never heard of it before). I send my mom an article to forward to my uncle with some of the very basic info (young kids, no eyes, dreadful feeling, sometimes outdated clothing, hitch-hiking or at your door, looking for help, etc).

Now my whole family is bugging. Sorry for this being so long. Wanted to give all the info." HG

NOTE: I don't believe that this was a BEK incident, per se. Most likely, these two girls were spirit manifestations from an earlier era. BEK do not have gouged-out eye sockets, which appears to be the case in this episode. The area where this occurred is well-known for hauntings and other unexplained phenomena (Monroe County - Hamilton Township, PA). I've worked several cases in the general area over the years. Lon

Ominous Toy Clown Causes Chaos For Family

A young girl feels discomfort from a toy clown that was given as a gift. Sleep problems and other unexplained incidents eventually prompted its removal. Was this object haunted / possessed?

This bizarre account was recently forwarded to me:

"This story happened to me when I was around 11, in early 2000s.

My mom’s friend gave us a gift on the Valentine’s Day. It was a wall decoration; a clown sitting on a wooden swing. The clown body was made of cloth and his head was ceramic. In general, he looked cute, so we didn’t mind putting it on a wall. In the end, it was a gift and we wouldn’t just throw it away. I wasn’t afraid of clowns (at that point of time).

Our apartment was basically a one room apartment with a separate kitchen. My parents just came together again, so we all slept in one room which was also a TV room. The clown was right above my bed.

Things started to get weird right away. I felt being observed in that room and in the whole apartment. I was uncomfortable. I started to have sleeping problems - a lot of nightmares, and they were violent. I was not a fan of horror movies and I did not consume scary content. This uncomfortable living continued, and once I woke up at night and immediately felt being watched. My dog was sleeping with me in a bed frequently, and I looked at her - she was looking up - at the clown. I freaked out. I started to pet her and she completely ignored me. I was poking her and got zero reaction - as if she was hypnotized. At some point she “came back,” I hugged her and couldn’t sleep rest of the night. I didn’t talk to my parents about the clown because it bothered only me, and I thought it’s in my head.

Next morning I decided I had enough and before school I talked to the clown. I said that I hate him and I will throw him away if he doesn’t stop. That was sort of a power moment, on the back of my mind I laughed at myself for believing in this bullshit.

That day my mom told me that she needs to go to the train station and meet her friend who will overnight at our place. My dad was on a business trip. So I had to stay home alone between after school until around 8pm.

I was, of course scared, but it was going well while it was a daylight. I watched cartoons and some teenage series. The sun started to go down...and I thought I need to turn on the light. I reached out to the lamp and it didn’t work. The switch did not work. I decided to turn on the light in a corridor then. Again, the switch didn’t work. I though I will die from my heart racing like crazy. I was scared to go to the kitchen, I was paralyzed by fear. I thought to myself - I will just sit on a sofa, watch TV and nothing will happen to me. Same second, I see with my peripheral vision, that one of the clown’s leg sort of moved and slightly bounced against the wall. I told myself I am just too scared and there was nothing wrong, it’s my imagination. It’s just a toy.

What happened next, I have no idea, It’s a complete blackout for me.

According to my mom, she came back home with her friend and called the doorbell (I had key inserted, so they couldn’t come in). I didn’t open. They called on the home phone and I didn’t pick up. They went down to ask the concierge if she saw something. The dog was barking like crazy and they could hear it through the 2 entrance doors. There was a light in the room which they could see from the balcony. They say it lasted for about 30 minutes before they called emergency to break into apartment and around 10 minutes for them to arrive and break into.

Lastly, I sort of woke up as my dog was poking me with her cold nose in my face and hands. All I remember is that there was light everywhere, dog was jumping on me and barking, the phone was ringing constantly and people were knocking on the door screaming my name. It was a chaos. Another thing, I was lying on a pillow under the blanket as if I went to sleep. When I opened the door my mom and her friend were hysterically crying. They thought I’m dead or something. I told that I was watching TV and I probably felt asleep so deep that I didn’t hear anything.

It was around 10 PM after we ate and prepared for bed. I slept in a bed with my mom and her friend. I didn’t tell them anything about the clown because I was just so stressed about the whole thing. In the morning her friend told us that she felt very uncomfortable and couldn’t fall asleep because she felt 'being observed,' then she pointed at the clown and said it was creepy. That’s when I told them that the last thing I remember is the clown’s leg moving before I passed out. I guess we all got horrible chills.

Next morning, I went to school, my mom threw away that clown far away from our area. It would have been great if she told me about this beforehand, because when I came from school and didn’t see the toy I started to spin around thinking this thing is standing behind me with a knife. When I realized it’s just not there anymore I sat near the open entrance doors and waited for adults to come back from work.

This is the story. Other weird things happened in that apartment too." K

4 separate accounts of possible upright canines, Bigfoot & mantis beings in New York, Florida, Texas & Pennsylvania. What did these eyewitnesses experience?

"Yes, they are real. Sasquatch, Dogmen live in an area near me (Orange County, New York). Their habitat consists of about 350 acres. I have over the years experienced a lot of things, including sightings. They frequent the trees and can see in the infrared spectrum. That is why they are rarely caught on trail cams. The juvenile’s will be the ones most likely to be seen. The Dogmen and Sasquatch either can come from the same family or the two clans intermingle. I have photographic proof of that.

I have been laughed at by some of the people I have told and I realized they will never be believers no matter what “proof” I show them. Their minds can’t accept it. I have some theories and ideas to be tried for more answers, but it gets expensive funding this journey myself. I was wondering if you know of anyone who would be interested in sharing my experience? I understand that most people in this area of “research” are not interested in answers because it will slow or stop their flow of income. But hopefully you know some that want the ultimate answer." "For a year and a half to two years now, I have had an off/on contact with a potential Dogman/Werewolf cryptid. I live in Lake Wales, Florida (Polk County).

It all started when, one night, I was watching TV in my room. I had my window blinds open so that the morning sun would wake me up. As I was watching TV I heard three soft taps on my windowpane. My mom was out in the living room, and my dad was in bed; it was about 8:30 - 9:00 at night. At first I was a little scared, so I didn't look out my window. But after my fear dissipated, I looked, but couldn't see anything as I had my bedside lamp on. I tried turning it off to see, but it was too dark outside to see anything.

After that night, nothing happened for a little while. But then, and this happened fairly recently, I was once again watching TV in my room and had begun to get sleepy, so I laid down and fell asleep for about an hour. I fell asleep around 9:30, and woke up at 10:30 to find that my mom and dad were both in bed asleep, so I went to bed as well.

The next morning when I was heading next door to feed my dogs, I noticed three long scratch mark looking indents in my window screen which had not been there the day before. Now, the odd thing is, there are no tears in the screen, it just looks like whatever it was, it wanted to get my attention that night for some reason. Its too bad I'm a heavy sleeper, I would have liked to see what it was that wanted me to see them. I know for a fact it was not a human, because the marks in the screen are too thin, unlike a human's nails would have done. Plus, my screen is made of extremely rough material, so it would have probably damaged the person's nails severely preventing them from making the marks as long as they are. There are also smaller marks toward the corners of the screen, probably from when I had the windowpane open for a few nights when the A/C went out, where it looks like it tried to get into my room as I was sleeping.

I do not feel threatened by this entity - I think it just wants to be noticed by me for some reason. I also leave my blinds open every night so it can see me because I feel like it becomes upset when it can't, but I keep my windowpane closed because my dad would be upset that I was letting the cold air out." “Saw mantis-like being when in a rural town in east Texas when I was around 8 years old. Basically, my brother and I were in the town with my dad while he was renovating a house. We were staying in the house while he was working on it. I don't have many memories from back then but this sticks out.

It was dark out, probably around 7 o'clock at night. My father was cooking dinner while my brother and I were playing and doing stuff kids do. The porch door was open with a fly screen door closed, there was a hallway running from the front of the house to the back. As we ran across the hallway we both noticed something peeking around the corner from the porch. It looked like a giant cockroach/mantis with massive black eyes just staring. It was nearly as tall as the doorway, slightly hunched over. Both my brother and I saw it and felt extremely terrified. 

We ran to the kitchen and tried to get dad to have a look but he just brushed it off. Peeking around the corner again we saw it still standing there, still staring. Our dad finally agreed to look but it had disappeared. I believe this is the only time we saw it.

'Crawler Humanoid' Observed Near Residence in Eastern Kentucky

A group of teen boys are planning to spend the night at one of their residences in eastern Kentucky. Later, 2 of the boys encounter a crawler humanoid in a group of trees along the yard.

The following account was posted on social media. The witness has verified the incident:

"Yesterday (Friday July 2nd) I spent the night at a friend's house. I will call them Sam and Bob for privacy reasons (everyone else's name will also be changed) It was Sam, Bob, Jeff, and I. Sam and Bob are brothers.

Anyways, Jeff and I had came over and brought our dirt bikes. So naturally we spent the day riding. We had also gone to a store and picked up some fireworks to let off that night. We had quit riding at around 7 PM (keep in mind this is eastern Kentucky, in the middle of the woods and farmland). Since we had finished riding, and it was getting pretty dark. We decided to light some fireworks. We had been lighting some smaller firecrackers and fountains and what not.

We had decided to sleep on the trampoline. But at around 10 PM, Jeff and I spotted some coyotes at a tree line across the road from us. We all went inside because I freaked out because I'm from a city and don't like wild animals. Also it stunk really bad. It smelled like dead rabbit or deer, so we all go inside.

After about an hour inside Sam tells us we forgot the bedding on the trampoline, and he wanted me and Jeff to go get it. I being terrified of the dark, beg Jeff to come with me. He agrees and we head out the back door onto the patio/porch. We go down the stairs and towards the trampoline. I am behind Jeff grabbing the back of his shirt and he has a flashlight pointing straight. I'm looking to the right towards past the road looking for the coyotes. But I hear a thud sound to our left. I look over there and there is a line of 4 trees parallel with us. They are shaped in a V starting  at the base. I don't see anything but I tell Jeff to point the flashlight over there and we don't see anything. So he swings it straight and keeps walking. I hear the thud, but this time Jeff also hears it. It is much louder and still to our left.

Jeff swings the flashlight in between the 2nd and 3rd tree in the row and its walking straight with us, Not at us, but towards the same direction we were going. As soon as the flashlights lands on it, its behind the 3rd tree now and it stands up in the middle of the V of the tree. It stood about 4 or 5 heads taller than me and I'm 5'9. It was incredibly skinny, as in I could see its ribs through its skin, which was a bright white. When the flashlight hit it, it definitely had a glow. Its eyes were the scariest part. 2 big reflective orbs that were dark grey/blackish. They were reflective in a sense, like the eyes illuminated the flashlight back at us. Also its hands were gigantic. The fingers wrapped around the tree trucks and were super long. Jeff looks over and I scream. He dropped the flashlight and we run. I still have his shirt in my hand and I yank him hard and he just takes off in front of me. I sprint past him and up the back porch stairs. He falls on the stairs. I run to the door and open it, waiting for him. As soon as he runs through, I slam it shut and lock the deadbolt. I shut the curtains and jumped back onto their couch. 

Sam and Bob had heard me scream my f*cking lungs out and were making their way outside. Jeff is standing on the couch and he starts babbling and tell them what he saw and I started hyperventilating. I have anxiety and asthma. I haven't had an attack in years and I stopped carrying my emergency inhaler a long time ago. Sam is bewildered and I started crying while I was having my fit. I cried for almost an hour and didn't fall asleep until almost 3 AM. I woke up and packed. My parents came and scooped me up so I am now writing this from my house." OE

'Mimic' Humanoid Encountered By Young Argentinian Man

A young Argentinian man is visiting his grandparents in Huachana. One night, he observes several people drumming and chanting in the field. The next night he encounters a 'mimic' of his grandfather.

I recently came across the following account:

"My family is from Santiago del Estero, Argentina (north of the country). From time to time we would go to see them. Once, when I was about 18 years old, we stayed to sleep in my grandfather's field. It was summer and there is very hot all year, unable to sleep and bored. I went out for a walk (there is no one in that area, it is a place called Huachana).

There are only a few neighbors with whom I have never dealt.

In one of those night walks, in a field of some neighbors, I saw people with some drums. There was no fire or anything, they were only illuminated by the light of the moon, without making more than some noises with their mouth. I did not give them much importance. My grandfather used to wake up to 4 AM to make cake on the grill and have “mates”, so I assimilated that in that case it was a similar situation. So, I kept walking. They stared at me. Not knowing what to do I nodded to greet them, They don't even flinch, they keep looking at me and stop with the drum and making those sounds with their mouths. The incident, which must have been about 5 minutes or so, really freaked me out. I started to get scared and decided to go back to my grandfather's house. But I did not want them to know that I am scared. So, I walked around the field, and when I got out of his sight, I started jogging.

I arrived at my grandfather's house and I could not sleep at all. My grandfather wakes up very early as usual, so I decide to tell him everything that happened (I want to clarify that my grandparents are devout Catholics). My grandfather told me never to pass that way again, and if I see that they are doing something, do not even look at them. Also, that if they ever offer me something, just reject it immediately,

Now comes the strong part of the story and that it will seem invented, but I swear it was like that and I cannot find an explanation. Also, I want to clarify, I was neither drugged or drunk.

The next night I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about the neighbors, and out of nowhere I hear noises outside the house. I thought it was the animals that were making a mess, so I'm going to see. When I walk outside I see a familiar human figure. It was my grandfather, telling me that he needs help, and he needed me to accompany him. He was going to my neighbors' field.

At that moment I felt a chill and enormous fear, I rejected him and went back to the house. Inside the house I felt safe and with more reason, I decide to go to my grandmother's bedroom to ask her what my grandfather wanted to do. But I found something that made me not be able to sleep almost at all in the next few nights that I was there. My grandfather was sleeping as quietly as possible. It was impossible that it was he who called me. Until today, I keep thinking about what happened." JM

Recognized By A 'Skinwalker'

A woman was spending the night at an RV park in a native reservation near Albuquerque, NM. The next morning, she noticed a coyote and followed it. It eventually transformed into a elder native man.

I recently came across the following account:

"A few years back, after a divorce I ended up homeless and living in an RV (caravan) for about a year. I was offered a job 3000 miles away from my ex, and it seemed like a good idea at the time, so my two small dogs and I started driving west.

In western New Mexico, outside Albuquerque, we stopped at a Native casino and RV park for the night. It was a very nice park, the bathhouse was huge and meticulously clean, the sort of place where tourists weren’t allowed to feel uncomfortable while camping next to miles of wilderness desert in the middle of the Reservation. I was just glad they didn’t turn us out for being in a 40 year old small RV - other parks had. Turns out RV living is only ok if it’s obviously a choice instead of a need.

The next morning, I checked outside my door before letting my two small dogs out. There are a lot of things that would be happy to snack on a toy poodle! Sure enough, a coyote was exploring the area.

I’m used to east coast coyotes that will take off as soon as they see you’re a full-sized human. So I hopped out, left my pups locked up, and made sure I didn’t make eye contact as I went towards the bathhouse. I nodded and greeted him politely as I went by.

He was still there when I came out.

I told him it would be appreciated if he gave us some space so my kids could come out for their bathroom breaks before we got back on the road. He huffed at me and started walking down the dirt road out into the bush. After a few steps he turned and looked back at me - so I followed behind him by about 30 feet or so.

Just for the record, following a coyote into the desert at dawn probably wasn’t the wisest decision to make. I was very careful not to leave the dirt road.

There was a natural clump of three boulders about 10 to 12 feet tall within easy eyeshot of the casino. The coyote calmly walked around the rocks. And then from the other side, moving at the same casual pace, came on older Native gentleman. His hair was in braids to his waist, he was wearing old jeans, blue gingham shirt and a woven hat. He tipped his hat at me and kept walking east out into the bush.

That was when a raven I hadn’t seen started laughing at me from the top of the tallest boulder. The bird took off, flying east, and in the light of sunrise seemed to shift from black to white to orangey-red in color.

I wished them both a kind day, hoofed it back to the park, and broke camp in record time.

Ravens and crows followed me for the entire time I lived on the west coast. Even when I would walk to work, there were three that paced me every day. Now that I’m back on the east coast I kind of miss them." MR

'Feral Wild Men' Stalk Unicoi County, Tennessee Couple

A couple in Unicoi County, Tennessee have been experiencing encounters with what they describe as 'feral wild men.' Are these actually humans, or possibly Bigfoot. Read and LMK what you think.

I came across the following account and update. Not sure what to make of it, so I'll leave it to you:

"I received a private message from a very nice gentleman over in Tennessee who shared his story with me about his experiences with the 'Hillbillies.' He did not want to share it from his profile publicly in a sub, but he did give me permission to share it. I’ll refer to him as “Mike.”

Mike lives near Erwin, Tennessee (Unicoi County) along with his wife and their dog. Mike and his wife have had two encounters with the feral wild men. One encounter as recent as last week (April 2021).

Mike said the first encounter was back in June of 2019 when he and his wife were both in their living room together watching TV around 8 PM. They both were startled when they saw a deformed man’s face appear in the window. Mike’s wife literally yelled out in fright. It stared at them and gave an evil smile and ran off into the woods. They did call the police. Police searched the yard and tree line but found nothing.

By 11 PM, while in bed, Mike and his wife (who couldn’t sleep and had the gun nearby) heard disturbing laughing from outside the window. The laugh was a lunatic type of laugh. Mike took his gun and went to the door and out to his porch where he yelled “GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE” and shot two rounds into the ground. Mike saw not one, but two wild men run from behind his shed and into the woods. Mike was so disturb at the sight of them that he shut and locked the door. He returned to bed with his wife but they both did not go to sleep.

The following morning Mike’s wife routinely lets their dog outside. The dog will do her business, then will always return to the front door and scratch to be let back in. The dog has not been seen again since his wife let her outside that morning.

Last week Mike’s wife had a sighting. She was returning home from the supermarket and was unloading groceries from her truck when something up in the trees grabs her attention. She saw a deformed man up in a tree staring at her and grinning widely. She got back in her truck and left and drove to her husband's office.

They both do not know what to do because the police are finding nothing and they feel like they are not being taken seriously by law enforcement. Mike did install several security cameras

Mike’s description of the wild men: Taller than 6ft. Thin but toned body. Long dark hair on their heads with patches of hair throughout their bodies. Pale gray skin. Long fingernails. Only one tooth it it’s mouth. Eyes are large and wide and are black. Looks like a man/Bigfoot/troll mix. Deformed features in the face and head.

Mike promises to keep us updated!" S

UPDATE: Mike did locate the dog about 8/10 of a mile into the woods...dead. The dog was not in a great condition and I will not go into those details here but the fur color was how he recognized the dog. To be conservative, there was not much left but fur and bones. The wife does believe a feral wild man is responsible.

Mike and his wife continue to have sightings, but mostly up in the trees. They have excluded the police because the police never find anything and have told Mike and his wife that they are most likely seeing campers throughout the woods. His wife stated that she is aware of times when the feral wild men are near because of an odor…a very distinct odor. The wife seems to be having more sightings than her husband. They believe the feral wild men are more interested in the wife. They have had one additional scare of something peeking through their window and describe the face looking like a very evil Sméagol from Lord of The Rings; describing the ‘hit and miss’ strings of long hair on it’s almost bare scalp. They have both heard the “lunatic type of laughing” in the woods at night.

It is not an every day occurrence, but they are afraid. They are mindful and careful. Mike says it’s one of those things where “you try to live with it but stay out of the woods and stay armed…just in case.” The wife is sure these are feral wild men and not Bigfoot and not campers just messing with them. They have some pictures and I am waiting for Mike to send those over. He has asked me if I am willing to make the trip his way to take a look and I am debating. This is the only ACTIVE case I am aware of now regarding the feral wild men so I want to stay on top of this! Waiting for Mike to send me more." S

NOTE: This is all that is currently available. I'm hoping for a follow-up. I have heard a bunch of feral mountain people stories over the years...mostly originating from the Smoky Mountain range on the Tennessee and North Carolina sides. I have family living throughout Mitchell County, North Carolina, just across the mountain from Unicoi County, TN. If you have any reports or sightings, I'd be glad to read and/or post. Lon

Afghan Goat Farmer Describes 'Upright Canine' to American Serviceman

A former American soldier describes an incident that occurred while serving in Afghanistan. A goat farmer tells him about a upright canine that would kill his livestock.

I recently came across the following account:

"When I was serving in Afghanistan I witnesses some strange stuff. First off, did not see any creature but encountered some weird stuff.

One of the roles I served was essentially a "hearts and minds" role in that we made an effort to get to know the locals and get them to look at us in a better light. Just simple things like giving out food, building things, bringing the kids footballs, etc.

One family we constantly met where a family of goat farmers. Over the weeks we got pretty friendly and would share stories through our translator.

One day I was talking to him about his goats and how hard life is out here. He said it was fine, but the only thing that bothered him was "bamuht." I thought initially it was the local Taliban strongman or something, but he said it was an animal. Now this next bit is said through a translator so bear that in mind he said "it's the running wolf." The translator and I didn't really know what he meant, but he just said again a wolf that runs like a man.

He then asked us to follow him. Initially I refused, but eventually relented as I felt he would not lead us to danger and it may offend him more not to.

He led us to a cave about 30 minutes away. In this cave we found what looked like crude drawings on the wall. Nothing you could make out well, but definitely something someone had drawn by scraping rock. But more disturbing was several gouged lines in the rocks. About a 3rd of an inch deep and about a foot long.

We had a joke about it, but I tried cutting a similar mark into the wall with my knife. I couldn't do it. Bear in mind I've been powerlifting since 16 so am pretty strong, but couldn't come close. The biggest red flag however was the remains of what I think was a goat carcass.

Now this cave was about 300 yards up about a 60% incline. I don't know how a fox, which is the only predator I saw out there, could A) kill a goat, B) drag it from the closet farm (1.5km away) up that slope into the mountains.

It freaked me out to be honest. For the remaining 3 months of that tour I heard noises that sounded like a woman wailing. Might be something or might just be a grown man being scared by a herders's story.

I'm not weighing in on if they are real or not but I did find this compelling." PN

Tall Crawling Humanoid Perceived In Garage While House Hunting

While a family is searching for a new home in Texas, the young son becomes aware of a tall humanoid entity crawling about in the garage. The parents and realtor didn't seem to notice it.

I found the following account on social media:

"When I was around 10 years old, my family was moving back to our hometown from El Paso where my dad was stationed on a base there. Our realtor (M) was showing us houses.

So, we pull up to this house and it’s overgrown with bushes and ugly crabgrass, the sidewalk is uneven and jagged, and even missing in some places. The white siding is pretty much brown by this point, with tree branches overhanging almost every inch of the roof so all you can see is this cave-like entrance into the front door. M informs us, “Oh yeah, it’s been on the market for years, and there is no electricity, so we will be seeing it in the dark.”

We go inside and the sight that hits us is remarkably depressing. There is broken picture frames and glass all over the floor, as well as red splotches of some sort of powder are covering everything. A very large chest is in the center of the living room about 5 feet in from the front door. The house smells like something old and wet, yet fresh and rotting at the same time. No one noticed the smell but me. We leave the living room and all I remember next is going to look into the garage.

Now remember, M told us there was no electricity and we would be seeing the house in the dark. The singular light bulb in the garage was glowing blue. Not a bright iridescent blue by any means but a sickly, dim blue that was just bright enough to illuminate the walls and floor and bathe the garage in the same shade of blue it was radiating. My parents and M both made a comment how that was weird, and maybe there was some sort of charge going to the light through the power lines. I couldn’t care less because what I was staring at was worse than any creepy light that was working when it shouldn’t have been.

There was something inside the garage. It looked like a human, or maybe what used to be a human, but it appeared wet. Its skin kind of looked like if you grabbed it, it would just slip right off. I could see veins through the skin, which was so pale it seemed almost see through. This thing was emaciated. I could see all its ribs, I could see hip bones. Its arms and legs consisted of just enough fat in the thighs and upper arms that you could tell that’s what they were and not just sticks slapped on a lump of flesh. The neck was just long enough to appear proportionately weird, and the head was turned to look straight at me. If you could even say it was looking because where normal eyes would be there were just holes. There was stringy clumps of hair hanging from the tops and sides of its head. And I got the sick sense that it was happy to see me, almost as if it was thinking finally I could tell if it stood up it would be tall. Almost ceiling height. So about 8 feet.

I watched this thing crawl on all fours (think hands, and very long feet; not hands and knees) from the center of the garage directly under the light bulb. It crossed in front of me and my family and M and disappear into the wall. It kept its head turned on me the whole time. And I followed it with my eyes the whole time.

I don’t remember even feeling scared in the traditional sense. I felt invited. I felt intrigued, and more than anything I felt like it had been waiting on me. Just me. I felt like it was telling me, “Come in, make yourself at home. Your welcome here.”

My parents decided they were thoroughly creeped out though and without seeing the rest of the house, we left. They told M that they weren’t interested and that was that. We fired her shortly after because she made a habit of showing us abandoned houses in the pitch dark. I was the only person who saw the “thing.” But my parents after thinking I was asleep in the car on the way home started talking about how once they opened the garage door they felt like they were trespassing, like someone was watching them. Also that it felt colder all of a sudden than the rest of the house, smelled like rotted meat, and something just wasn’t right about that blue light." OK

NOTE: This is an interesting account since it indicates that this was an incorporeal entity or that it was able to cloak its appearance to the adults. Lon
