Mississippi Cousins Encounter UPRIGHT 'WEREWOLF' on Dark Rural Road

A young Mississippi man and his cousin were on a dark, rural road looking for deer when they came across a 7-foot-tall upright cryptid canine that boldly approached them.

I received the following account:

“In the mid-1980s, my cousin and I saw this, I’d call it a werewolf. We saw it on a gravel road but I was raised as a Christian so seeing something like this, it looked like it was beautiful but it was evil and it bothered me for a long time.

I came back from Dallas, Texas to my little town of Winona, Mississippi where I was raised. My cousin said, 'They’re having this Christmas party' and I said, 'Look, I want to see a deer. Because I hadn’t seen a deer in a long time so I’d been in the city. She said, 'We’ll take this poor house road, this little gravel road between these two main highways.' And, so, we’re riding in a little Toyota pick-up, and the headlights hit what I thought was a deer, it was kinda hunched over in the road and she said, 'There’s one!' And she took off real fast with the bright lights on and we stopped maybe 25 feet from it, just thinking, it’s gonna run off into the woods and everything but it stayed there and it raised up and it was like, maybe, 7 feet tall but it had its back to us. And a little like rabbit or something, took off. I remember seeing it going off to the right and just for, maybe a second, it blurred. It kinda moved back and forth. You can’t see the pattern on the top because it becomes like a blur when it starts spinning. That’s why I think maybe it was from another dimension because it spun like that, I mean it kinda like blurred, then it stopped and then it turned around and it walked straight, not like a regular animal running in the woods to the left and the right to get away.

Then it came straight for the driver’s side of the Toyota. I was in the passenger side and it was really, I mean it had fur, it had mud on the rump of it and it was wider in the middle, like you said, it was kind of leaning over toward the front, walking. The legs were, like, big, like a donkey or a mule or a horse but they were like a wolf, they had that backward look. It was an animal but I don’t know. I thought about it for years. I didn’t know. Did I see a spirit? I don’t know. It had mud on it and it wasn’t afraid of us.

I think back now and, you know, it could have killed us if it wanted to. It walked right by. When it got to the front of the Toyota, it was a two-wheel drive, I was on the passenger side, it was so tall that I couldn’t see when it got close to the front. And it started walking right down her side of the truck and she looked up at this thing. She looked straight up at it. I couldn’t see what was going on, all I could see was the fur and the rump and all that as it came by her driver’s side window and she made this weird sound like she was sucking air. Like she just looked straight. And I turned around and looked and as it walked by the back window of the truck and it just kind of, it walked funny like a dog’s legs on the back, you know, there are many different when it (a dog) stands up, it looks like its almost crippled when it walks. Its knees were backward.

And as it went on by, I thought, my God, you know, what is that? And it jumped up on a little sage grass bank and it kinda cocked its head and looked at me just with his right eye. It never looked me right in the eyes, like straight over. I think I would have passed out. My cousin, when it jumped off in the woods, she said, 'That didn’t look right.' And we’re still sitting there idling. It was so bold, it came along her truck and walked real slow. It wasn’t running or anything like an animal, it just walked. It wasn’t afraid and I said, 'It looked like a wolf' and she looked at me and she said, 'So you saw the same thing I saw?'

She later went to the preacher, and she asked him, 'What was it?' He said some people see demons, and some people see angels. But for years, it bothered me so badly until I started seeing sketches of it. I thought, okay, that’s exactly what we saw and it really helped me.” C

BIZARRE, UNKNOWN CREATURE Encountered Outside My Home!

A Modesto, California witness observes a bizarre creature outside of their home. The description is unlike anything that I have ever read before. What are your thoughts?

I received the following account:

"Now, what I saw is kind of hard to describe so I will do my best. So, I was in my house in Modesta, California. It was late one night, and I got up to get some water. I heard this weird noise and brushed it off as it might have been a car driving by. However as time went on, I had this weird unshakable urge to go outside with my flashlight. I'd say about 20 minutes at least I waited outside while looking at a magazine. I had nothing better to do, so I sat outside on the deck for maybe 10 more minutes. I heard this noise. I got scared and jumped. I didn't see it right away but when I did I almost soiled myself.

I proceeded to shine my flashlight all around. What I saw was burnt orange in color, its ribs were showing but it also looked very bloated. It had nubs where its arms would be. It had long skinny legs. Now the next part I will never get out of my head. What I thought to be teeth at first glance turned out to be several long single strands of white hair sticking out from its mouth. Inside its mouth was a very pale purple color, no tongue, no teeth, just looked hollow, its mouth was big and wide. It had its mouth open the whole time. It also looked like it had no saliva. It did not make any noise. It had some kind of goiter on its neck. I forgot to add it had lighter speckles throughout its whole body and on the back of its head was a big black patch with a few small white dots.

Now before you think anything I don't drink and I don't do drugs. I wasn't that tired when I saw this thing. I'm still confused to this day. I just stared at it for a few quick seconds as it approached me. I was too scared to move and then it ran off when I got up from where I was sitting. Ironically, It ran so fast like it was scared of me." JW

NOTE: At first, I thought that the witness had encountered a crawler humanoid. But as I continued reading, I had no idea what this being was. Was it corporeal or an energy manifestation? Really weird account! Lon

The Devil's Bloody Hoof Prints... 'HE'S REAL & TERRIFYING!'

Here are two accounts from Catholic readers regarding demonic encounters that they claim to have experienced at some point in their lives.

I received the following accounts:

“When I was 17, it was a really hard time as my family members all had different awful experiences clustered at once and I cried myself to sleep one night. I woke up in the dark to see the silhouette of my mum sitting on the end of my bed in the pitch black. I’ve obviously flipped out. Was she playing and turned the lamp on? She was visibly upset and shaking and said, “I thought you were dead” not “I dreamt” or anything. And I was freaked out, told her I was fine, and sent her back to bed.

The next morning when I woke up and went to the bathroom. There were what can only be described as bloody hoof prints. We have no pets, they weren’t footprints and no one was on their period in my house. It couldn’t have been a stray animal because there was no way of it getting in and I checked CCTV (we only have exterior though) and nothing. They were literal cloven hoofprints and they started on my bathroom tile facing the mirror. They then go out of the bathroom onto the hall carpet and there are only two other doors on that floor on the same left side. The bloody prints go directly towards the far door (my bedroom) like they knew I was there. The prints stop facing my door. My floor is laminate and there was no blood or any print whatsoever within my room. I can only say that whatever negative energy I was putting out that night was like an antenna and something thought it would be able to feast on me. But clearly, God or Jesus Christ or my angel(s) protected me and for that, it genuinely brings tears to my eyes.

I’m a Christian Catholic but the truth of their corruption is so profound it’s only by the devil's work their true exposure has been quelled thus far. My mum however is an atheist but strange how her maternal instincts kicked in because she sensed a danger like never before to her only child. I had at least two other experiences with things that weren’t from this plane/frequency. These ones I actually saw.” RE95

“When I was 10 years old in the 4th grade, I had a horrible encounter of paranormal proportions. I was not on any meds of any kind or any drugs. I was a little kid, and at 3:00 AM the devil came to me. He woke me by levitating as a big black cat outside my window and even though I was sound asleep, he made me aware of his presence. He appeared through my window into my bedroom. I was terrified. This big black cat was lying on top of my chest, staring into my eyes, and even though I had them closed tight, he made me see his eyes right through my eyelids. I could not talk or scream. My older brother was sleeping in his bed in the same room, and was sleeping and not aware of what was happening to me.

The devil hurts you psychologically. He makes you see and hear things. He made the bodies of the dead float around my room. I saw pain and misery and when I saw him, the devil, in his own form, he was dancing on the stove in our kitchen, with the fire on high. My bedroom was right next to the kitchen. I was shown all this horrible stuff and at that very minute, before I saw the devil on the stove, I was able to scream, 'God help me! My brother heard me, flicked the lights on and everything disappeared. When I ran out into the kitchen, the Devil was laughing on the stove, then vanished. I told my parents everything.

We were Roman Catholic. We had our house exorcized and blessed by the church and our own family priest. I talked to my family priest to please ask God to heal my mind and to heal me from those horrific aberrations that transpired in my bedroom when I was 10. After a few months, I was able to sleep back in my own bed. I slept with my parents for months. As I was scared that IT would happen to me again but it never did. Thank you, Lord, I know you are there.' I have seen the other one, the mean nasty red one with horns. He is evil and pissed off. Other than my immediate family, I only told my best friend from the 4th grade and my priest. He asked me 30 years later remember the cat in your room. I sure the heck do. The most important thing I learned from having that experience was, the Devil wants people to think he is not real. LET ME TELL YOU. He is real and terrifying. I grew up in a little town called South Plainfield, New Jersey.” JW

Witness Stared Down by TALL, CLAWED CRAWLER HUMANOID in Rural Lancashire, UK

A British witness was driving late at night in rural Lancashire, UK when he observed 'eyeshine' on the roadway ahead of him. Slowing down, he soon encounters a tall crawler humanoid.

The following account was forwarded to me:

"In 2015, I was driving back from an ex-partner's house at about 11 pm, in rural Lancashire in the north of England. It was late November from what I remember so it was a clear night, with a big bright moon and very cold out (for England at least). To get to my home, you have to cut off the motorway and take a slightly rural route up a wooded road! It's not a large or dense wood, you can probably walk from one end to the other in 15-20 minutes, it's roughly a 5-minute drive through the trees!

As I was driving along, the road twisted and turned as it always had the hundreds of other times I had used it, so I had to drive very slowly ( about 20 KPH) in case a car came around a bend too fast (there's always accidents there) and so I was raising and dipping my headlights and full beam as you do. As I turned a corner, about 30 feet in front of my car was a large, scrawny, grey figure. At first, I thought it was a large branch that had fallen from the tree, so I crept toward it and put on my full beam. When I got within about 10 feet of it, the creature (or whatever it was) moved as though it was doing a press-up, pushing itself up with its arms, and my headlights caught its eyes which glowed like a cat do when you shine a light at them at night!

I stopped the car, half expecting it to just be a deer, and ran out of the way, but the creature didn't move, it just stayed stationary, staring at me, giving me a good 10-15 seconds to look at it. It then slowly stood up on two legs, still looking at me in the car. It was BIG, the top of my car probably only reached the lower rib cage region, so I'd estimate it was probably 9-10 feet tall. It was pale grey, hairless and gaunt. I could see its rib cage and spine. It had LONG bony arms, probably each about 4 feet long, and large claw-like hands. (The closest comparative description I could give is the grey, bony werewolf in the third Harry Potter movie).

Once I had taken all this in and realised the situation, I began to panic, putting my car in reverse, but the creature than just turned and walked calmly, and silently, off into the woods next to the road. It did not run, it didn't seem scared or intimidated, it almost seemed disinterested. I didn't hang about to investigate the area, I went straight home and locked the door! I spoke to all my friends, and all but one of them thought I was joking, but she seemed to take it very, very seriously, having had a similar experience in a similar area a few years ago! She said it was a bad omen, and after doing some research I can understand why!

As I said, I don't really believe in anything, and I've never seen anything before, I travel that road at least once or twice a week and have never seen anything since! Does anyone have any idea what it could have been? We don't have large animals over here in the UK, the biggest we get in my area are Badgers and small and medium-sized deer! Certainly, not that size, and surely deer would startle in the headlights and run?" O

ROCK-THROWING BIGFOOT Cuts Canoeing Trip Short in Baltimore County, Maryland

A high school Biology Club takes a weekend canoeing trip to Muddy Creek in northern Baltimore County, Maryland. The trip is cut short after a terrifying encounter with a rock-throwing Bigfoot.

"Back in the Winter of 1974 in January, I lived in northern Maryland near the Pennsylvania border (Mason-Dixon Line). I was 18 and my wife was then 17. She belonged to our school's Bology Club which was then something brand new. The club and the teacher went on the trip for the weekend to Muddy Creek but came home a day early. They were visibly in shock and barely talking, including the teacher.

They told us they had been canoeing downstream when they heard roaring from the bank. When they looked up they saw a huge hairy man who began throwing boulders and logs at them, almost swamping the canoes. They paddled like hell and eventually got out of range and were hysterical when they came home. All of them gave the same story and one girl, a friend of ours, had started the weekend with brown hair, but it changed to gray hair! It was not dyed.

At the time, the British Museum had a standing offer of 1 million Pounds Sterling for the body of a Sasquatch. I was poor, from a broken home, and saw dollar signs in my head. So, I loaded my .35 caliber Marlin with 180 Winchester silver tips and headed north to the creek. I hiked about a mile in the woods and began looking for signs along the riverbed and sand bars. It was about 15 degrees F that day and the sand was frozen hard. Almost right away I found a bare footprint pressed into the frozen sand about 2 inches deep. It was 18 inches long and about 5 to 6 inches wide with five toes and looked human. I hiked up the rocks in the hillside with my head on a swivel and one in the chamber with the hammer back and the safety on.

I found a rock perch and settled down to wait for my money to arrive. After a few minutes, the feeling that something was watching me got pretty strong but I disregarded it thinking that I was just paranoid. I sat there freezing for hours but the feeling never stopped. By late afternoon it dawned on me that I had not heard any wood sounds all day. No birds, no squirrel chatter, nothing but the water down below.

I finally hiked back to my truck and drove home, promising myself that there would be other days. The further that I got from the hillside the better I felt. I went back several times afterward but never felt that same weird feeling again."

The headwaters originate in southeastern York County, PA, and extend south into Maryland, eventually emptying into the Gunpowder Falls, north of Prettyboy Reservoir. Wisconsin Driver Wonders, "What Hit My Car?"

Abby in Wisconsin called into Midnight in The Desert with Art Bell to tell of the time she hit an unidentified creature on the road between Minneapolis, MN, and Madison, WI.

“I had a really weird experience about three months ago while driving home. I had to move my mom from Minneapolis to Madison (Wisconsin) and I was driving home on one of my trips, moving her stuff alone. It was about 1 AM and I was in the middle of nowhere. I wasn't in a town or anything and I was really tired because I had been driving all day and all of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I distinctly saw a person running out of the woods straight towards the side of my car. I was going about 65 and I thought okay, I've been driving too long and now I’m seeing things. All of a sudden 'SMACK' into the side of my car.

I was terrified. It was pitch black out there, there was no traffic. There's nobody around and there's nothing near me. I was just in the middle of nowhere. This came out of the woods. It ran into the side of my car. My car was dented. It hit me so hard. Out of the corner of my eye – I was really tired so I don't know what it was I saw but I could have sworn it was on two legs and it was probably about 6 feet tall or taller. In the corner of my eye what I thought I saw was a man wearing a grey sweatshirt and a hood. (Art asked if she stopped her car) I was too scared. I was in the middle of nowhere. I didn't understand why someone would come out of the woods and run straight into my car when there's no traffic or anything. If they needed to cross the street, why would they wait until there was car coming? So I thought, I should call the police. Then I thought, what did I just see? What was that? What do I say to the police, that somebody darted out of the woods and ran into my car?

So I drove home. I was probably about 30 or 40 minutes away and I was shaking, I was scared. I don’t know what had just happened to me. I got out to see if there was damage to my car. I thought about calling the police and I decided it had to be an animal because there was nothing around there. 

So the next day I looked in the papers and I looked through everything to see if there were any dead bodies in the road because that would have made the news and there wasn't – nothing. So I don't know if it was an animal or what it was. Another thing that was terrifying was that it was running very fast – very fast! That's why I thought it couldn't have been a person. I knew not to stop. I was going about 65. No blood. No hair. I checked for blood because I thought maybe I hit somebody. No blood but you can see the dent. It's on the driver's side of the car, that's where it smacked into me. You can definitely see the dent but it wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be. You can see it but it wasn't like serious damage to the car or anything.”

Campers Confront UPRIGHT CANINES After Observing UFOs in Broome County, NY

Three friends were camping in a Broome County, New York forest when they started to witness a series of lights throughout the woods. Soon, they were confronted by upright canines.

The following account was forwarded by the investigator:

"It was early June of 2016 in Broome County, New York, and three friends, Jamie, Dan, and an unnamed witness, decided to go camping in a local forested area. Apparently, they did not know if they were technically allowed to do this, but there are a lot of fire pits in the area, so they did it anyway. They set up their tent, got their fire going, and just sat there talking. All of a sudden, the woods became completely silent. "You couldn’t even hear crickets’ and it apparently felt like there was a lightning storm because static electricity could be felt in the air. The hairs on the back of the unnamed witness’ neck stood up. According to Jamie, "The air was humming.’

Immediately after this, there was a deep bass noise and a light flashed up in the distance and illuminated the whole forest. "It looked like when a real big firework explodes for the first few seconds, but it lasted for about a minute before it split up into 3 or 4 other lights and shot back down into the trees. We could see the lights glowing out in the woods and then there was a big gust of wind and it was gone. Everything smelled like it had just rained but it never did."

The witnesses didn’t know what to do but decided that it was likely just a meteor and so went back to talking amongst themselves. At about 02:00, they decided to go to sleep. The unnamed witness and Jamie slept in a tent but Dan decided to sleep by the fire. Roughly an hour later, the witnesses are woken up by Dan shaking them and saying that there was ‘something big’ watching the camp. The creature was about 50 feet away from the fire according to Dan, and he apparently thought that it might have been a bear, but it was standing on two legs and bobbing backwards and forwards as if trying to get a better look at him. While Dan was talking to the witnesses about this, all three of them heard a loud scream that apparently sounded like a pig being slaughtered but was deeper and made the witnesses’ ears ring. Apparently, three or four more creatures came running towards the campsite, as the embers from the fire kicked up and landed on the tent. The upright canines kept running up to the tent and then promptly ran back into the woods.

"Every once in a while one of them would scream again and pull on one of the tent poles, dragging the whole tent a foot or two." By now the whole tent was collapsing on one side and the witnesses were screaming as loud as they could. Suddenly everything went quiet again and the witnesses ran towards their truck as fast as they could and hit the gas. When they were just about to leave, they saw one of the upright canines illuminated in the road by the truck headlights. At this point, the witnesses attempted to ‘gun it’ and drive the vehicle straight past the creature, but it then straightened up and puffed up its chest. The witness estimates that the creature was around 8 feet tall and had dark grey all over its body except for the front, where the hair was white or yellow. The face looked like that of a dog ‘but not really’. Apparently, the witness knows what bigfoot looks like and this was different.

The upright canine didn’t even move when the witnesses drove at it, and they had to swerve the truck around it to avoid running it over. They drove back down the mountain, parked the truck in a gas company parking lot, and considered telling the local police but were discouraged because they didn’t know if they were camping somewhere that they shouldn’t have been. In the morning, after the witnesses had sobered up, they drove back to the campsite to find that their property had vanished, including the tent and the cooler."

Camper Terrorized By BIGFOOT GROUP in Bankhead National Forest, Alabama

An Alabama man is camping in Bankhead National Forest. He soon realizes that he is not alone, and later discovers that he is surrounded by a group of Bigfoot that want him to leave.

"I lived in the Southeastern United States for most of my life and I've had several encounters with things I could not explain. Some terrifying and some just bizarre, but the one that sticks with me the most is from Northwest Alabama. This happened in the winter of 2006. I moved back to Alabama after living and working in Atlanta, Georgia for a couple of years. The time I spent in the big city was very stressful so when I moved back I spent weekends camping and hiking just to enjoy nature and decompress. Be it rain or shine, cold or hot, I'd be in the woods every chance I got.

The area in which the encounter happened was very familiar to me. I had hiked and camped there many times off and on for nearly 10 years. On one camping trip in late December or early January I decided to hike and camp in Bankhead National Forest. I was going it alone like I always did. That day was unseasonably cold and I did not expect many, if any, other campers there. Just as I had thought I reached the trailhead and there was not a soul in sight. There were no cars, nothing. Perfect. I hiked to a good camp spot about a mile or so down the trail that was next to a running creek.

It was late in the evening and nearly dusk by the time I'd finished setting up my tent and collecting firewood for the night. It was just after I got a small campfire going when I heard two very loud tree knocks coming from the other side of the creek. It sounded like a Louisville Slugger being swung against a tree at full force. A very distinct sound. My camp was about 60 feet or so from the creek and the sound was from quite far away across the creek. I didn't think much of it at first.

After maybe an hour had passed I heard the same knocks again, this time much closer. Keep in mind this was a time when all the Bigfoot shows were popular and you had fanatics out in the woods all over the country trying to call up a Sasquatch, so I ignored it and I figured someone was out there trying to have fun. To each their own. Anyway, if it was someone I doubt they would even know I was there. Again, I was alone and I didn't play music or anything when I camped. The only way you would know I was there is if someone saw the light from my small campfire.

Some more time passed when then I started hearing very large tree branches snapping, now even closer than the last knocks that I heard. This got my attention. But I thought about it for a while and said to myself it is possible that a few people together could break a large enough branch to make that sound. But I was beginning to get somewhat annoyed that they might be directing it at me. I always traveled armed with a handgun and was comfortable dealing with confrontation. I thought if it was a group of people out there targeting me they must not be brilliant. It's not very wise to mess with a stranger while he is alone in the middle of nowhere.

I continued to mind my business, stayed quiet, and hoped that if I didn't respond, they would just go away. After more time had passed I was still sitting by the fire relaxing when out of nowhere a feeling of dread came over me. A sense of danger washed over me and I began to feel my pulse increase rapidly. I've had this feeling before from previous outings in the forest. But this felt much more serious and alarming. I decided that if there was a crazy person or people out there I was not going to give up my position. So I decided to douse my campfire and quickly retreat to my tent. Those were my intentions, anyway. As soon as I stood up I heard the loudest scream I've ever heard. It was very deep, short, and like a shout or a roar at the same time. It was very close, perhaps just from the other side of the creek. The sound removed all doubt that I might be dealing with a human. Whatever or whoever made that noise had to have been huge.

I did not bother putting the fire out. I quickly got in my tent, zipped it up, and sat there remaining quiet while holding my pistol and training my ears to listen for any outside noises. This area is mainly huge oak trees and everywhere on the ground was a thick layer of dried leaves so I was confident that whatever this thing was I would at least be able to hear it coming. The leaves on the ground made it sound like even if a squirrel was hopping around it would sound like an elephant walking.

For the next half hour or so I would hear deep grunts and what sounded like gibberish coming from the other side of the creek. But the sound was coming from the same spot, not moving, which was a small relief for me. I'm still in my tent not making a sound and still clenching the pistol in my now trembling hand. Then I heard what I knew to be a large rock hit the water in the middle of the creek. It was not a muskrat splashing around nor a beaver slapping its tail. It was a loud 'kerplunk!' There were some more grunts than another rock hitting the water. This time it splashed closer to the bank on my side of the creek bank. At this point, things were getting serious.

I was just about to yell out for this thing to stop when I heard another rock being thrown. It did not hit the water. It hit the soft sandy ground and rolled between my fire and my tent. I did not see it but judging by the sound it had to be a bowling ball-sized stone. I wondered what kind of strength it would take to hurl a large rock nearly 100 feet. It was then that I shouted out, "Okay. I understand you don't want me here. Just please leave me alone and I'll leave as soon as the sun comes up!"

A couple minutes passed and then I started hearing footsteps from across the creek moving through the leaves away from me. I let out a sigh of relief that only lasted for a moment. Next, I heard footsteps from all around my tent steadily walking away. I was horrified to realize that while this thing on the other side of the creek had my utmost attention, its buddies were closing in on me and had me surrounded. I sat there scared to death and listened as to what I guessed to have been four or five of these things walking away from my tent. They were no longer bothering to be quiet. I sat and listened until I could barely make out the last footstep in the thick leaves.

I sat up the rest of the night and in the blue of the morning, well before sunrise, I gathered my stuff, packed my tent, and briskly walked the mile back to my parked truck. During the long drive home, I thought about what happened and came to the conclusion that if one of these beings wanted to kill me they could have easily. They might not have meant any harm to me but they damn sure know how to scare the hell out of a fella."

Curious CARCASSES/BONEYARDS Discovered in Victoria, Australia State Park

A Canadian researcher in Victoria, Australia recently contacted me about carcasses/boneyards found in the wilderness at Mount Buangor State Park. He referred to one of my previous posts.

I received the following account:

"Hello, Lon. Hope you are well. I found your contact email from the Phantoms and Monsters webpage. I came across it from being mentioned in a YouTube video by Thinker Thunker labeled "Bigfoot Body Dump, NM." (Possible Bigfoot 'Kill Dump' Discovered). I feel compelled to share my experience along with some photographic evidence, taken on Dec.28/29, 2023. Not expecting anything in return, just wanted to share and make people aware. 

This occurred on the stated dates, in Victoria, Australia. I am from Canada, and I have been here for a year to perform unrelated research. My partner and I went camping in Mount Buangor State Park, at Middle Creek Campground. On December 28th, we hiked up Mt. Buangor to the Buckertillible Cave. Buckertillible means "cave" in Aboriginal Australian. It took approximately 1h 45m to reach the granite cave under an outcrop that measures approximately 100m long and 15m tall. It is a shallow cave, you can see the back wall across the entirety of the cave/outcrop. We had hiked about 2km up switchbacks through the bush to reach the destination.

Once we found the cave, my partner was unable to scale the boulders that would be required to progress further toward the cave due to physical fitness limitations. She was able to view a section of about 20m or so. I took my Nokia cellphone as I proceeded forward to the main section of the cave to get some pictures. I came up to a few large boulders measuring an estimated 5-7ft high, and about 10-12ft wide. I was able to climb one and get a view of the main section of the cave. I intended to continue further which would require me to jump down into a small "pit" and then scale another boulder of similar dimensions. The dimensions of the enclosed area or "pit" were about 40ft in diameter. Before I jumped down, I scanned the ground of the small enclosed area, surrounded by rocks. I did not want to land on or near a snake. I observed a wallaby carcass in the middle of the pit. It was lying on its left side, its head towards me. It appeared deflated, like a balloon. The limbs were all intact and present, and the head was still attached. The pelt was undisturbed, with no evidence of predation, all the fur was intact and not torn, with no pieces of fur or flesh around it. The full tail was still attached. I observed that it appeared to be soaking wet as if someone had just dunked it into a pool. It had not rained in the area at least for a few days. There was no smell other than Eucalyptus trees and brush and foliage. My first thought was that a hunter had shot it and placed it there. Wallabies and Kangaroos dwell on flat plains and low hills, they are grazing animals and are not known to inhabit cliffsides and caves and boulder piles on the sides of mountains.

I took pictures from the rock I was on of the carcass, and I then proceeded to jump down into the pit, my second thought was that it would be highly improbable as to be nearly impossible that a wallaby could climb up the same path we did, and then climb up a boulder 3 times its height, and then jump into an enclosed space with no way to climb back out, where it would then starve to death. As I landed, I looked at my feet, and immediately to my right was a pile of bones. Only a few, but they appeared to be larger than what could be accounted for with another wallaby, so I figured it must be a kangaroo. What I identified as being a femur or thigh bone was similar in length and size to a human femur, so I assumed it was a kangaroo. The bone pile was about 20 feet from the wallaby. I took pictures of the bone pile. I then moved closer to the intact wallaby body to look for some other way into the pit, and as I did my partner yelled to me from below that she "had a bad feeling, and she was leaving". We have hiked and camped in all sorts of terrain and environments. We hiked landslide passes in alpine terrain in the mountains of British Columbia in Grizzly Bear territory (saw 5 in 6 months, had a close encounter on a vegetable farm), we've hiked deep thick forest in Northern Ontario, we have hiked tight and unforgiving desert valleys in California, and we've trekked Australian bush since we arrived here. She has never left me behind, nor have I ever left her, never been more than 20 feet from each other at any point. And yet, she was leaving me to head back to the trail right then and there. I yelled back to her to wait for me, and she said something I could not make out, her voice was already further away.

I turned back and looked at the wallaby body again, and noticed another pile of bones just past it and to the right, against the furthest rock of the pit. I made the decision to try to photograph the 3rd pile of bones. I moved closer to the wallaby, also intending to get a close-up photograph. This is subjective and may mean nothing, but when you are out in the wilderness you learn to trust your feelings and instincts. Before I came closer than 10 feet to the intact carcass, I had the feeling that I was familiar with living in bear territory in the Pemberton Valley of BC. If you find a carcass in bear country, you get far away as fast as you can, because that bear will be close by and it will kill you to protect its food. I stopped mid-step when I was overcome with the feeling that I was coming too close to an animal's food. At the same moment, I heard some brush along the cave wall being shaken, like something was moving through it. I could not tell if it was coming closer or moving away. I recognized that I was in a bad place to be, especially now apparently alone. I made the decision to climb back up the rock I had jumped off of and proceeded back down the boulders I had entered through. I clapped my hands loudly about 6 or 7 times, out of habit from being near bears. It is advised that you make yourself known to them, and I thought to do the same at the cave. When I stopped clapping I heard what I interpreted to be some rocks near the mouth of the cave moving or being moved. I spotted my partner down about 75 feet away and quickly but carefully made my way back to her. 

She described the bad feeling as though she could have been crushed by a large falling rock that would have come off the outcrop above the cave above her. I reported to her what I had seen and felt, and she agreed that we should head back to camp. On the way down, we had multiple equipment failures. One of her hiking poles collapsed as she descended a big step, nearly sending her down the side of the mountain. I noticed my medical kit that was braided onto my belt had come undone and had nearly fallen off. My shoelaces also came undone multiple times even after double knotting them. We've never had any of that happen before, and we expected that if we had geared up improperly the failures would have occurred on the way up, not the way down. 

That evening, back at camp, I had a nap in the tent and my partner read her book in the hammock. She woke me up to tell me that she had gotten up to get a snack from the car. When she retrieved the snack, she closed the car door and came around to the driver's side of the vehicle to find the door open. She had not seen it or heard it open, and she claimed she was sure she had not opened it. That night, before bed, I walked about 40ft from our campsite into the bush. It was dark, and I had no headlamp or flashlight as the moonlight was bright enough that I could make out details and see the ground. We were at the last campsite in the park, the furthest from the entrance. Nothing behind the site but bush and plains leading up to Mt. Buangor. My intention was to be still and to listen for gliders, possums, or koalas. I could hear running water from a stream or creek about 30 feet further into dense trees. After about 2 minutes of quiet and a few crested cockatoos calling out, I heard what sounded like something crossing the stream headed in my direction. It sounded like water splashing and being tread through by a person or biped. I maintained my position and made no noise but looked in the direction of the noise. I could not see anything moving. I then felt that I was being observed. I heard a large stick snapping from behind, near our tent and assumed it was my partner. I headed back and asked her if she had broken a stick. She told me she thought I had made the noise.

We went to bed, but I did not fall asleep for at least 30 minutes. I started dozing and heard what sounded like our car door handle being pulled on. The car was locked, but I climbed out of the tent with a headlamp and retrieved my valuables anyway. I did not hear anything approach or leave the site, and I did not see anything when I came out of the tent to look for the sound. We recreated the noise by pulling on and letting go of the car door handle the next morning, and it matched the sound I had heard in the night. Possibly unrelated to the Buckertillible Cave experience but it all happened within 24 hours so I figured I would include the campsite events anyway. 

After considering everything critically with my partner, I cannot completely conclude that at least 3 wallabies/kangaroos had climbed up the mountain and all accidentally died in the same enclosed space surrounded by boulders and then just decomposed on the inside and not the outside. It would seem more likely to me that it was a predation spot, but I am not sure what would remove organs and leave the carcass soaking wet, as it would also have to be able to make the same hike while carrying those animals. The cave itself did not seem like a likely habitat for any predatory animal. No birds big enough to carry them up there and drop them in. No hunting is allowed in Victoria State Parks, and unlikely that if someone DID hunt there they'd bring multiple bodies over months to the same spot along a local hiking trail that people hike every day. It appeared to me as if I had jumped down into a feeding pit or body dump. 

I apologize for the picture quality, the camera is on a cheap Nokia smartphone, it was the cheapest one on display and I just needed something that could call or text. I added saturation and cropped the wallaby carcass photo in hopes it would be more clear but I included the original as well. I appreciate your effort to maintain a website that publishes the personal accounts of regular people, and I appreciate your efforts to raise awareness of strange events and the like. I do not expect a reply or to have my account posted, I am simply sharing this with anyone to create awareness of possible dangers in the wilderness."

Pennsylvania Turkey Hunter Hears HEAVY BIPEDAL FOOTFALLS Near Appalachian Trail

A Spring turkey hunter in Northampton County, Pennsylvania hears heavy bipedal footfalls and thuds while in State Game Lands #168 near the Appalachian Trail.

I received the following account:

“I live in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. I was walking on the opening day of spring turkey season in 2015, 3:30 AM, and bumped some deer bedding down off the main trail across from a field. I saw 4 to 5 white tails jumping away and snorting/wheezing about 25 yards in front of me, off to my left. I was a little startled. I wasn’t expecting to bump deer bedding down so close to the trail, and only a few hundred feet from the Appalachian Trail.

Well, as I was standing, watching the deer go off, I heard distinct heavy foot bi-pedal footfalls in the field off to my right going away from me towards the wood line. I can’t remember how many, maybe 5 or 6, but they were heavy and I could hear the thudding as they went. It was like a truck was going through the trees and it sounded like it turned diagonally, to its left while going up the mountain.

I have encountered big bears up close before, in the Catskills, not in Pennsylvania yet, although I’ve seen plenty of bear signs, and they never made heavy bipedal footfalls nor do they make so much loud noise crashing through the woods. Bears can get big and make some noise but not like this. Anyway, the crashing through the woods went on for under a minute but I was frozen with fear for about 5 to 10 minutes. I only had my .12 gauge with 3 turkey loads and no other firearm. I had rushed out of the house because I wanted to get to my spot early. Well, finally I was able to walk to my spot and nothing else happened.

I don’t know what it was but it had to be really big. No smells, no vocalizations, and no visuals. Just a little freaky. Maybe it could have been a very large bear that was creeping up on those deer. I don't know but I did hear of a hunter seeing a Bigfoot during the 2017 deer season near the same public game lands (SGL #168) I had my experience.” AK
