Champion by Marie Lu | GG Book Review
My latest book review on Gliterary Girl. Champion, the final book in the Legend series by Marie Lu. THE GIST: Marie Lu rounded off her series with a solid conclusion. What began as an exhilarating, exciting, and youthful book one, transformed into the intense, heart-wrenching book two, and finished with an unexpected and quite mature end to the series in book three. I struggled a bit with engagement in this one, and that might be entirely because of bad timing on my part, but I felt a little bored in places. Despite that, this book delivered beautiful character development, incredible world building, and painstaking despair that continued to keep me invested in the lead characters Day and June. Raising A Reader - Fingers Crossed! | Gliterary Girl
Hey all, check out my latest post on GliteraryGirl.com where I discuss my childhood struggles with reading!
As an author and reader, books are obviously a big deal in my home. Clearly, I love to read. But I wasn’t always this way.
Do you ever remember being in class reading from the text-book together and the teacher would call on different students to read the next paragraph aloud? Yeah, I dreaded that. Even more, I dreaded when she would say, “Everyone read page forty-two,” and then she’d sit there and wait. Watching us. Of course, everyone finished but me. So when the discussion began over what everyone else had just read, I was still reading as quickly as I could trying to catch up and never did. Once they started talking, I couldn’t focus on what I was reading... (keep reading...)

Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi | GG Book Review
What to see what I thought of the latest installment of my favorite series, Shatter Me? Check out my latest review at Gliterary Girl!Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi.
Rating: 4 out of 5
THE GIST: I love this series so much! BUT I struggled with this installment, and it had everything to do with the character himself. I flew through this short novella... (keep reading...)

We had a great time getting to know author David Estes in his interview with Gliterary Girl last week. So much, we decided to have him back! This time, we’ve given him the reigns, and he’s here to share some insight on one of my favorite topics. In fact, what he’s going to share with you is precisely why I couldn’t click “buy now” fast enough for his YA novel Fire Country after reading only the first paragraph. I’ll let David take it from here.
Do All People Sound the Same?
That’s a stupid question, right? Of course they don’t. In real life everyone is different, everyone has their little nuances, ways of speaking, and unique mannerisms. That’s what makes life interesting and fun. If everyone sounded the same, we’d all die of boredom. There are funny people, serious people, angry people, kind people, and every combination of those qualities and a million other qualities. (...Keep reading on Gliterary Girl)

What a great time of year!
I don't know what things are like in your neck of woods around the holidays but here in Oklahoma, it's cold! And in the Arroyo household, things are busy.
But this year, for the first time, I get to celebrate the holidays as a mom! So what in the world could I possibly wish for? I get to enjoy my little family of three (four if you count the horrible cat that lives here...whom I love/hate).
Nevertheless, here's my list!
1 - It would be a Christmas miracle if my almost 6 month old will sleep through the night
2 - Baby needs books! Enough clothes already, just get us the books! He loves when we read to him. His sweet little hands touch the pages, and his eyes grow wide with wonder as he's lulled by our soothing voices. Yeah, we need more of that. So if any of our family are reading this... BOOKS! (please)
3 - I don't think it'll happen, but it would be awesome if the boots I ordered online would arrive before Christmas.
I know it's short and it's not really a true wish list, but I got a new Kindle for my birthday last month, so there's not much else I could ask for. Christmas with my sweet family, maybe some time to read, even though I'll probably be doing a great deal of editing. Oh, did I mention I finished the sequel to Sovereign? I did :) It's being edited and will be ready to publish in March!
Giveaway What about you? What's on your list? A signed copy of Sovereign perhaps? Well, I just happen to have one. Enter the giveaway here, and then hop on over to the other blogs involved in the hop and see what awesome prizes they're giving away.

PAWN by Aimee Carter | Gliterary Girl Book Review
Check out my latest book review for GliteraryGirl.com ...
THE GIST: This concept was quite clever, and while I was put off by certain aspects, it was interesting and I enjoyed most of the characters. Carter’s best quality was her world-building, as I found it very easy to picture. Some characters may have fallen a tiny bit short of the mark, but I liked them, and that goes a long way with me. ...
