Romance video essays on TikTok!
So one of the things I have struggled with as an author who reviews books is how to carve up my platforms. It's more fun for me to talk about other people's books than it is about my own, but talking about my own gets me that bag. WHAT A CONUNDRUM LOL. I only joined TikTok a few months ago but I feel like it offers a lot of tools that Goodreads doesn't.
One of the things I've started doing now that I've FINALLY figured out how to use the app (#millennial) is little video essays about romance novels and tropes. I did one about Fabio today. I feel like the comment-response tool allows a sort of discourse that's hard to do on Goodreads, where I might want to respond with thoughts or personalized book recommendations, but can't because it gets lost in a comment thread.
So if you have questions or want recommendations based on tropes or settings-- especially in historical romance or dark romance-- please leave a comment on one of my videos on TikTok (I'm @neniacampbell).
I would really enjoy boosting the authors whose works I enjoy and it would be fun to discuss romance novels with you in greater depth than GR currently allows. ♥

Day 3 of STUFF YOUR KINDLE DAY: Get QUID PRO QUO for FREE!
Hi book besties!
This is the LAST DAY of the Stuff Your Kindle promotion! That's right... it's THREE days this time!
My interracial stepbrother romance (w/ Daddy kink and reverse age-gap!), QUID PRO QUO, is available for FREE download. It's one of my favorite books I've written, even though authoring books is like a creative version of Why Choose?, and I would absolutely love for you to read it.
If you haven't already, make sure you do a final sweep of the romancebookworms DOT com website. Lots of pretty well known romance authors participated, like Zoey Ellis and Tiffany Robert. I am not kidding when I tell you that I've probably spent six cumulative hours parsing the offerings line by line.
Anyway, thank you so much for supporting me! I hope this event puts a new fave into your hands. I've certainly got some major contenders.
Peace.

Day 2 of STUFF YOUR KINDLE DAY: Get QUID PRO QUO free!
Hi all!
It's day two of Stuff Your Kindle Day! And I'm offering up my spicy interracial stepbrother romance with a reverse age-gap for FREE. (It's called QUID PRO QUO.)

In case you're curious about the promotion, here's how it works:
-2000+ books from participating authors are available for download on romancebookworms DOT com
-TikTokers are telling people to browse by the "free" category on Amazon, but that includes a lot of books that aren't included in the official promotion AND it only shows you the most popular/highly rated in the category. This is a ROMANCE only promotion so people talking about non-romance SYKD promos are actually picking up books that are free for different reasons.
-The website organizes the free romance books into subgenres, a lot of them with tags or keywords, to help you find what you're looking for and there's a special section for LGBT+ books and romances by people of color
-It's my understanding that in previous years, this was a one-day event. This year, it's a three-day event! MORE TIME TO BROWSE AND DOWNLOAD YAAASS
-Don't forget to tell your friends about this freebie opportunity and to promote and boost your faves who are donating. It's a great way to get authors fresh attention and, of course, to get free books. ♥

STUFF YOUR EREADER DAY: QUID PRO QUO is FREE!
Hi everyone!

I am SO pleased and honored to be able to announce that I will be participating in this round of Stuff Your Kindle Day at romancebookworms.com. QUID PRO QUO will be free during this window, along with thousands more from participating authors!
There's a TON of misinformation floating around so here's the actual tea:
1. The official event is run by Zoe York and her assistant (bless! ♥)
2. It will be going on from 9/20-9/22
3. ONLY ROMANCE BOOKS are part of this event. Other authors might be doing freebies at the same time, during the same window, which is great-- but if they're not listed on the website, they are not part of this official event.
4. Despite what people are saying on TikTok, Amazon is actually not the best place to search for and browse for these books, because Amazon only shows you the top 100 free books per each category. The best place to search for these books is on Zoe's website because THOUSANDS of authors are participating. You're missing out! #FOMO
5. Please boost, share, and download to your heart's content. And if you read a book and LOVE it, nothing would help out that author more than leaving them a little review (even if it's as simple as "loved it!") wherever books are sold.
6. If you saw this too late to make your Kindle stfuattdlagg, now is a great time to subscribe to your fave's newsletter or follow them on sosh meads, because that's where future updates for these kinds of events will happen. It's a thing!

Want some spooky fall reads?
Hi! My name is Nenia and I write dark romance and EVERY year I forget to advertise myself and my books during spooky season because promoting myself is, like, so hard. NOT THIS TIME, SUCKERS. I REMEMBERED.
Oh, and by the way, all of these books are free to read with a Kindle Unlimited subscription. ♥
LITTLE DEATHS - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B...
Reverse age-gap romance between a stepmom and her stepson. No creepy underage shenanigans because I'm not about that life. He's 28 and she's 40 (also HE'S A VIRGIN). This book is LITERALLY set during the month of Halloween and the heroine is a retired horror movie actress who lost her career because her director was a creep. Then her husband mysteriously died after poisoning people in their town with tainted wine and THEN people start dying the way people died in her horror movies. This book also features a mixed media format, with blogs and "movie reviews." I had so much fun writing this.
-
THROUGH A GLASS, DARKLY - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...
Vampire romance with dual timelines set in 1997 and 2007. The hero and the heroine are both pansexual and have on-page relationships with people of the same sex (though not when they're with each other). What if you met a guy and it turns out he was a vampire, and also had an addictive personality, and his vampire bestie decides to host an intervention because he considers you a dangerous drug?? Also the hero is French-Algerian and was turned in the '50s, so he makes the heroine wear pin-up clothes for him when he gets his hands on her. Hot.
-
RAISE THE BLOOD - https://www.amazon.com/Raise-Blood-da...
Possibly the book I had the most fun writing after QUID PRO QUO. This is basically a '90s Point Horror novel with lots of smut thrown in. When the heroine's sister goes AWOL shortly after her wedding, the heroine goes to this creepy little mining town in the woods to find out what happened to her. Which is where she discovers that her brother in law's family is SUPER creepy and weird and he has a hot younger brother who definitely seems to be hiding something from her. This is a gothic romance that is absolutely batshit insane, steeped in obsession and vibes, and it might be my current favorite.
-
Happy spooky season everyone! Every single one of my books is heaped with some of my favorite tropes and pays homage to something I love or feel nostalgic about. I hope one of these appeals to the spooky little nostalgia goblin that's inside of you, too! :)

Writing update + what's next
I haven't posted a writing update since May, so I thought it would be nice to do another one to keep you all updated on my current projects now that I am back in my writing groove and have had some time to breathe after finishing Raise the Blood.
I am currently serializing TWO books, Detraction and Wildscape. Both of these books have been chilling on my backlist, unworked on for years, so it feels great to be finally making some progress with them. In the case of DETRACTION, some people have been waiting almost ten years. WHOOPS. These are being posted to Kindle Vella, which IS US-only at the moment, but both of these will be moving to Kindle Unlimited shortly after in revised and expanded form.
DETRACTION is a fractured retelling of the ballads of Reynardine and Tam Lin. It starts in the 1970s and ends in the late 90s, and takes place in both our world and the world of faerie. I already like what I have, but I'm planning some significant additions and changes for when it's moved to Kindle. This hero is probably one of my nicer ones. He's not quite evil, just damaged and chronically misunderstood. The story is about 33% complete.
If you're interested in this book, you can read it here: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/e...
WILDSCAPE is the fifth (fifth?? really?) book in my Horrorscape series, but this book focuses on Gavin's younger brother, Luca. His love interest is a true crime podcaster who is kind of gloomy and morbid and a little naive. They meet on a cruise to Mexico, which she has gone on to research a (fictional) murder committed by a girl avenging her dead best friend. Chaos ensues. And yes, there are cameos of characters from previous books. The story is about 15% complete.
If you are interested in this book, you can read it here: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/e...
I've added some new books to my author list that I want to work on, the newest being Love Every Thorn and Sine Qua Non. LOVE EVERY THORN is going to be a gothic romance with a villainous hero and I already have a little bit plotted. I actually have about 10,000 words written of SQN and a little bit of a plot outline. SQN is a sequel to Quid Pro Quo, as looking at the reviews made me realize I forgot to tie up a few loose ends. It probably isn't going to be as long as the original but I said that about Escape, and it ended up being the longest book in the series, so you clearly can't trust me. I'm an unreliable narrator.
Other books I intend to work on soon-ish are Adeane and Ravina and Evergloom. I have most of the outlines done for these but they ended up having some issues with their storylines that are going to require major overhauls and plot fixes. I also want to work on The Flesh Pavilion but I don't have the time to sit down and really work on a high fantasy novel at the moment.
Do I know what I'm going to work on next? No. Am I excited for whatever it's going to be? Most definitely. I basically write based entirely on vibes and tears at the moment, so whatever is causing me the most panic is the book that gets written. And by the way, if you're still reading at this point, thanks so much for checking out my work. It makes my day every time to hear from readers. When I first started publishing for profit over ten years ago, it felt mind-blowing that I could actually have an audience who would pay to read me. The shine of that still hasn't chipped away, even now.
So thank you for being here and for reading my books. ♥

RAISE THE BLOOD hit 50 ratings on Goodreads!
Raise the Blood was such a fun book for me to write. I was kind of obsessed with it, and while I was working on it, it was all I could think about. It makes me so happy that you're all enjoying it too. RtB is basically a throwback to all of the retro gothics I have read and loved (but secretly wished had more smut). It's been compared to Twin Peaks, the Invitation, Twilight, and Bluebeard, and after each one of those comparisons, I'm just like YES YES YES.
After being out for about two months, it has just surpassed 50 ratings. So if you picked up a copy and read it, THANK YOU so much for that. I'm not the best at hyping up my own work and sometimes I feel really awkward talking about it, so I'm not always the best at expressing my heartfelt gratitude, but I absolutely love it when people reach out to me to tell me their thoughts about my books and I really am so endlessly thankful that you picked my books out of the millions and millions out there.
If you haven't read it and would like to, you can pick up a copy here: https://www.amazon.com/Raise-Blood-da...
