Sorry all!

Hi all:
This is just to say sorry to everybody who experienced difficulties trying to access my posts yesterday. It seems that the problem was not everywhere or for everybody, but it affected many people who tried to open them using Google Chrome. For some reason they decided my blog wasn’t mine or was pretending to be something else. I have no idea if it had to do with the updates of plugins, WordPress, or with anything individual (although I hadn’t changed anything). I had the hosting company check and they couldn’t find anything wrong. Then I removed everything I had (including all the affiliated ads).
I also tried to send several messages to Google telling them this was my website. Then I found a post suggesting a method to verify your blog or site, and that resulted in you probably receiving a mysterious post with nothing much on it.
I have no idea what it was all about, but let’s say my Friday wasn’t very good.
Today it’s sunny, and at least for me the blog seems to be working, so I hope things are back in working order. Please, do be reassured that the blog is OK, I’m a bit stressed but OK, and if you can, check the posts from yesterday, a wonderful feature about Wendy Janes’s new book WHAT TIM KNOWS (here) and a surprise post from me about Misty Pink (yes, it’s me too, only me being young and silly) and her book WE ARE FAMILY that was FREE yesterday and today (so don’t miss the chance if you know anybody who likes YA and check here).
What Tim Knows by Wendy Janes

Thanks to you all for reading, for your patience, and for just being there. And let’s hope today it’s a peaceful and worry free day for all. Be well!

#FREE #YA story for only two days (29th and 30th) WE ARE FAMILY. Neighbours, prejudice, friendships, small-town and love.
Hi all:
Sorry to crowd you all with so many posts but I’ve been having a few funny days, with travelling, trying to sort out the house, and a job offer that might mean (if it comes to pass) that I’ll have to take a bit of time off, at least initially from being everywhere. In the middle of this maelstrom and because one has to try everything, I suddenly decided to publish one of my stories that had done well in Wattpad but I never seriously thought about publishing it anywhere else. As I didn’t have a lot of time and I wanted to do a bit of a test, at the moment it’s only available in Amazon and will be available in Unlimited too, at least for 90 days (I’ve never had any luck with that, but). I decided to try a different persona too, and to offer it free for a couple of days (29th and 30th of July, although you know Amazon days are West Coast days, so do check later if not free when you try). So if you know somebody who might be interested in a YA story with quirky characters, friendship, romance and some emotional ups and downs…

Description:
Meet the Waltons. They arrive to Leamington, a sleepy town, and cause chaos and outrage. They are ‘weird’. According to some they are scandalous and indecent. But if you let them, they might steal your heart.
We Are Family. A Young Adult story of friendship, families and how you don’t always have to go far to find love.
Kim, a young girl, sees her quiet existence shaken by the arrival of the new neighbours, the Waltons, a family of hippy travellers whose lifestyle creates conflict and tensions in Leamington. Accusations of rape, teenage pregnancy, adultery, suicide…the newcomers pay a heavy price for daring to intrude in the ordered lives of the inhabitants of Leamington. But not all is bad, and Kim’s life is transformed for the better. Forever. Oh, yes, and she finds romance and love.

Thanks to all of you for reading, and don’t feel obliged to download and read, but if you know of anybody who might enjoy it, especially readers who like YA stories or YA readers, I’d be grateful for any shares, comments and CLICKS! I’ll keep you posted on my news and also on this experiment.

#Newrelease WHAT TIM KNOWS by Wendy Janes (@wendyproof) Short stories with a huge heart. Don’t miss the special feature!
Hi all:
You’ll remember Wendy Janes, proofreader extraordinaire, visited us not long ago and shared a masterful post on the differences between UK and US English (check here if you missed it). You might remember I mentioned that Wendy was working on her next book and she had promised to come and bring us news and more details about it. Well, she’s kept her promise and not only that, but she’s brought us a special feature about one of her characters, Sue, that I know she feels very close too (for reasons she has kindly decided to share with us. Wendy is a very brave woman and I’m proud she chose my blog to explain the circumstances of her character. I only know the condition from a professional point of view, but it’s still now quite misunderstood).
And here it is:

What Tim Knows, and other stories by Wendy Janes
A gallery-owner’s quest for beauty; a dancer in danger; a new mother struggling to cope with her baby; a sculptor’s search for inspiration; a teenager longing to live in the perfect family; a young boy lost and confused by the rules of life that everyone else seems to understand.
Six stand-alone short stories, spanning five decades. Each capturing a significant moment in the life of a different character.
Separate lives linked in subtle ways.
Special feature about one of the characters in the book, who, as Wendy explains, are characters from her beloved novel What Jennifer Knows.
Sue
In What Tim Knows, and other stories, six supporting characters from my novel What Jennifer Knows share their tales. Jennifer appears as a minor character in each, aging gracefully from student to grandmother.
Through the life experiences of Rollo, Cynthia, Sue, Gerald, Blythe and Tim, I explore a variety of themes, including, creativity, relationships, motherhood, marriage, adolescence and childhood.
While I feel very close to all my characters and the situations they find themselves in, there is one aspect of Sue’s story that is the most autobiographical piece that I have ever written.
We initially meet Sue just moments after she has given birth to her first child, and as the story develops we follow her through the first six weeks of her baby’s life. Unlike Sue, I had a loving husband. However, her experience of post-natal depression (PND) is my own.
An objective description of PND runs as follows: PND affects more than one in ten women, and is usually experienced within a year of giving birth. Symptoms can include, feeling tearful, sad, tired, irritable, apathetic and guilty. Mothers may also have problems concentrating and bonding with their child. It can have a big impact on families, but with the right support, symptoms can be reduced and most mothers make a full recovery.
My subjective description of my own PND runs more like this: I genuinely felt shell-shocked after the birth of my first son. I lived in a perpetual state of crippling anxiety, my mind churning day and night with potential calamities. Brief snatches of sleep were filled with nightmare images. Persistent feelings of deep sadness, bone-weary, mind-numbing exhaustion, loneliness, and overwhelming guilt continued for many months. How dare I feel so bad? I had a perfectly healthy child, we had no housing or money worries, my family all loved me and cared for me, but I couldn’t cope. I loved my child, but I was scared of him too.
For me, an infinitely patient husband and self-help gradually brought me back to normal. During my recovery I set up a local support group, which meant that when I had PND again with my second son, things weren’t as bad. I had a network of support, and many of those women are still my closest friends.
It’s vitally important that a mother with PND tells someone how she’s feeling – a partner, a friend, a health professional. Asking for help, admitting there’s a problem, can be the first steps to recovery.
I felt compelled to write Sue’s story to reach out and say that even if a mother and her baby get off to a rocky start like Sue and I did, it won’t always be that way. Soon, negative memories will be outweighed by positive ones.

#Nuevolibro EL RUBÍ TIMUR: LA LEYENDA DE UNA JOYA MÍTICA de Paloma Caral (@palomacaraball) Y recordando VIAJE A LA FELICIDAD con #reseña
Hola amigos:

#ReviewBlitz THE DEVIL’S BEAUTY by Airicka Phoenix (@AirickaPhoenix) #TuesdayBookBlog

Title: The Devil’s Beauty
Author: Airicka Phoenix
Genre: Dark Contemporary Romance
Expected Release Date: July 19, 2016
Cover Designer: Airicka’s Mystical Creations
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Blurb:
Dimitri Tasarov has never had a choice in what he was. From infancy, he had been raised with the knowledge that he was a monster, an unlovable creature without a soul, until a single act of kindness threw his entire world into a tailspin.
Ava Emerson had always led a reluctantly sheltered existence. Friendship was a luxury that came with questions she couldn’t afford to answer.
They were an unlikely pair. He lived behind his mask and his roses, and she lived behind her secrets, yet they shared a bond that could get them killed if anyone ever found out.
Times were changing. The city was in turmoil. The weak were unprotected and someone needed to make a stand. But Dimitri wasn’t the only one with eyes on the north, or Ava, and they will stop at nothing to claim them both.
Can Dimitri keep Ava safe, or will the devil fall?

I must clarify a few things before I share this review. First, due to problems with the system I did get the book much later than I expected so I read it at quite a pace and didn’t have time to savour it. I’m also aware that I read an ARC copy and there were some issues I found with the book (that I won’t mention here as I’m sure they won’t be a problem with the definite version published) that might have affected my full enjoyment of the novel. The other thing I wanted to mention is that the novel, described as an NA book, is very sexually explicit (I’d say to the level of erotica, although I’m not a big fan of the genre and don’t read many books on it, so others might not agree). There are between five and six sex scenes (one is divided in two so I’m not sure if I should count is as one or two) some quite long and as I said very explicit, and one that is ‘rough’ although even the protagonist makes the point of saying that she does not enjoy S&M. The book is fairly long so the sex scenes are not a major part of the book, but for me they distracted me from the plot (and that together with my lack of interest for this type of writing and with what I felt was the uneasy combination of such scenes with the nature of some of the themes of the book didn’t work for me). In what I think it’s a standard of the genre those scenes stretched the suspension of disbelief for me personally, but I suspect nobody is too worried about what is biologically possible when reading an erotic fantasy. Putting all of that together I’m convinced I’m not the intended audience of this book, but I hope the review might reach the right people.
I was intrigued by the book because of the suggestion that it might have a link to Beauty and the Beast (one of my favourite fairy tales), and in a way it does, although a much darker version (well, not that a monster is not dark), that involves crime families, stormy and highly conflictive family relationships, danger, violence, murder (and murder attempts), sex trafficking, drugs, kidnappings, blackmail…
The story is told in the third person from the point of view of two different characters, Ava, a young woman whose mother, Charlie, is worse than most fairy tale evil stepmothers (although we only get a few scenes with her), and whose adopted dad (but not her official stepfather for reasons we learn later), Jean Paul, loves her dearly and is very rich. We later also learn that he is a big crime boss. The city where the action takes place is divided in five sectors and Jean Paul is one of the bosses. Dimitri, the man Ava loves, who’s been keeping away from her for eight years for reasons we learn later, is the son of one of the other crime bosses, a Russian woman called Elena. (And if Ava’s mother is a cold and horrible human being, Elena fits into a category of her own. I can’t think of many women who could compete.) He also happens to be the biological son of Jean Paul, but his father wants nothing to do with him and insist he’s a monster. Jean Paul is also determined to keep Ava and Dimitri apart, and theirs is a very extreme version of the star-crossed lovers.
Things don’t work according to Jean-Paul’s plans and once Ava and Dimitri come together again, nothing can separate them, even if Dimitri’s reasons to go back to her are suspect to begin with (he kidnaps her to blackmail Jean-Paul into agreeing to his becoming the boss of the North sector). Everybody around Dimitri and Ava seem destined to get into trouble, as if their coupling created an eye-of-the-hurricane effect, and Ava gets stolen away from Dimitri and sent on a shipment with other women who are being sold away, ending up in Puerto Rico. The subject of sex trafficking is horrific and those chapters make for harrowing reading, even if we’re quite convinced that Ava will survive, because this is her story. She doesn’t get much of a break because she’s shot at, and the subject of many more attacks (that I won’t discuss as I don’t want to give any spoilers).
The action is fairly fast, and we are kept guessing as to who is doing what and even more as to their possible reasons, as there are those who unwittingly might help the bad characters, but also very devious evil people, and the cast of people involved is long indeed. The book flows along at good pace although at some points there are things that seem to be left hanging on to be eventually revisited and solved later. This is not a realistic and gritty book (there is violence, wounds, and fights, although the level of description of the violence is not as detailed as that of the sex scenes, but I think it might be too violent for those who don’t like any such subjects) although as mentioned some of the themes are raw and dark, and the way in which these criminals can buy their way out of all their troubles and sort out any difficulties stretches credibility, as it does the seeming indestructibility of the protagonists, but that’s only to be expected from the genre.
With regards to the characters I really liked some of the secondary characters like Penny, Frank or Sayeed, which deserve full books. I liked some aspects of Ava’s character (like her attachment and loyalty to her friends), and enjoyed the couple of times when she took control of the situation, but although no human being could go through her experiences unscathed, I wondered about her sense of morals and the easy way she accepts the situation, especially considering what she has lived through. She is always being rescued by the men in her life (not a plot device I like) and I wondered if the ending (that I enjoyed) quite makes up for the rest. Dimitri, in my opinion, although a bit one-dimensional is a more consistent character, even though his style of possessiveness is not to my taste, but I know I might not be in the majority in that respect. His stunts as ‘the Devil’, when he steals from the baddies to give to good causes, make him more sympathetic, and he’s an exciting individual, the forbidden bad-boy who is not quite as bad as he appears to be, although he’s darker than the beast of the fairy tale.
I didn’t realise until I started reading it that this book is part of a series, although it is not necessary to have read the first book to enjoy it, as the stories are completely independent.
In summary this is a thrilling book, that treats serious themes, although its focus is on the romance between the two main characters whose relationship brings chaos and danger to everybody around them (and to both of them). It has sex and violence and it’s not my ideal kind of book (but that’s not the book or the author’s fault) and I’m sure many will enjoy it.

Robby broke the silence that followed. “What just happened?”
The buzz had regained through the room. Curiosity punctuated with questions and glances at Ava that she ignored.
“I need to go,” she whispered to no one in particular.
But she grabbed Robby’s hand and dragged him along with her through the maze of rooms, down the seemingly endless corridors. Her heels clacked in sync with the tempo of her pounding heart. It was his turn to run to keep up.
“Ava, what—?”
“Don’t ask questions,” she warned him. “Promise me.”
Robby frowned. “But what—?”
She skidded to a halt and faced him, her chest rising and falling rapidly against the front of her dress. “I’m about to trust you with the most important thing in my life, the biggest secret I have ever kept, and I am trusting you because you are my best friend and I need your help.”
The crease between his brows deepened. More lines appeared at the corners of his mouth. His gaze shot past her to the hallway leading to John Paul’s office, then back down to her.
“Tell me who that was first.”
His hand slipped from her grasp. She took a step back and his eyes narrowed.
“I can’t. I can’t tell you anything.”
“But you want me to trust you.” It wasn’t a question.
Ava nodded. “Yes.”

#Booklaunch DESTINY’S FAVOR. ORLOSIANS WARRIORS Book 2 by Dariel Raye (@Pendarielraye) Excerpt, giveaway and wings!
Hi all:
You’ll remember I shared the cover of Dariel Raye’s new book a while back and she promised to bring us the news when the book was out. And she’s delivered. Here it is!
Destiny’s Favor (Orlosian Warriors Bk. 2)
Destiny’s Favor synopsis
His world shifted the moment she was born. Now, nothing can stop him from making her his.
Imagine meeting a man who looks like an angel, wings and all? What would you do if this man told you he existed with only one purpose – to claim you and only you?
Destiny Carter is a feisty, take charge, Rubinesque beauty with a tough façade, who finds herself in that age old quandary, “always a bridesmaid, never a bride.” A string of lackluster relationships leave her hopeless and ready to settle…Until she meets Japheth, the man her fiancé claims is his best friend! Japheth’s arrival is heralded by an attack on Destiny’s life, and instinctively, she knows this is just the beginning.
Born more than 200 years ago, Japheth looks like an angel but he’s far from it. In his world, the ratio of men to women is 500 to 1, and although he’s a superior being, he’s willing to break the most sacred law of his brothers, even drink human blood, to have one meant for him alone.
When he meets Destiny, he knows she’s the one he’s been searching for. To claim her, he will have to betray a friend, risk his life, and hardest of all, humble himself enough to win her love.

I Hop
J mowed-down the second of the biggest, rarest T-bones Destiny had ever seen. He ate as if he hadn’t eaten in days. Destiny noticed that J didn’t miss a beat in the conversation, yet his plate got emptier and emptier. She found herself staring at his throat, the muscles moving up and down as he chewed and swallowed.
She wondered absently whether it was wrong to be drawn to his beauty when her inner voice kept telling her something about him wasn’t quite as it seemed, but oh, he was beautiful. No other word described him. In fact, he was unnaturally so. No man should have his looks. It just wasn’t fair.
“…don’t you think so, Baby?”
“W-what?” Lost in her own thoughts, she had missed her cue in the conversation. She glanced up, shifting her gaze too slowly from J’s throat to his eyes. His lips were tilted into a smile, and his eyes held a gleam of mischief. He had seen her watching him. Bastard.
Robert offered her a tolerant smile. “I was telling J he’s staying with us. All the hotel rooms in this area are gonna be taken because of the convention.”
Destiny could see the pleading in Robert’s eyes as he awaited her answer. The apartment was his, and while she stayed over with him at times, she had not felt convinced enough to agree to move in with him.
She appreciated him at least giving the impression that her opinion mattered. The keyword there was impression, because he certainly should have discussed this idea with her before they reached the terminal, and certainly not with J’s unsettling gray eyes boring into her. Again, she thought, it wasn’t her place so she didn’t really have a say. She didn’t even have to be here, let alone at Robert’s apartment, and she could always go back to her place if she felt too uncomfortable.
She glanced at him, then back at J. “Sure. Robert and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” She showed them a few teeth to seal the deal, then tried to focus her attention on the menu again. Well, there goes steering clear of him.
“Don’t you guys want shakes? It’s a rhetorical question.” Destiny raised her hand to get the waitress’s attention. She still felt J’s gaze on her, but avoided looking in his direction.
“No chocolate for you, Baby. Remember? You’re staying with me tonight, and caffeine keeps you awake.” Robert took a paternal tone, showing off. She wanted to slap the back of his head.
As soon as the waitress came over, Destiny addressed her, drawing the woman’s attention away from J. The woman’s big blue eyed gaze seemed to have lit on him without her notice – like a pin to a strong magnet. Destiny had to raise her voice. “I’ll also have a chocolate shake, please.” She put emphasis on the word “chocolate.”
J laughed and turned toward the waitress, who appeared to be enjoying the exchange. “I’ll have chocolate, too. Do you have chocolate cake also, miss?”
The waitress blushed maroon, her hand going to her chest as she laughed, obviously affected by him. “Lily. My name is Lily.” She pointed to her name tag.
J nodded and smiled before breaking the woman’s apparent trance. “Thank you, Lily. Do you have chocolate cake? I’d like to OD on chocolate. Can you help me do that, Lily?”
“Oh!” She covered her mouth like a giddy teen. “Yes. Yes, I’ll bring your chocolate shake and chocolate cake over. We also have hot fudge and chocolate syrup, if you’d like to add one of those. On the house.”
Destiny’s jaw nearly dropped. What the hell did he do to deserve his on the house?
After Lily took J’s order for chocolate cake and a chocolate shake, she turned to Robert. By then, Destiny couldn’t help sharing a conspiratorial smile with J. His eyes seemed to dance, watching the exchange he’d instigated. She had to admit it. The man had charisma to burn.
“Nothing for me.” Robert frowned, patting his slim middle with his palm as he silently judged them with his eyes. “I’m watching my weight, and I don’t have anywhere else to put it, anyway.”
Destiny glared at him. He was already too thin for his height as far as she was concerned. Her weight topped his by at least 30 pounds. Hearing his comment about watching his weight grated like having lunch with a picky, pretentious size zero model. J, on the other hand, probably shopped in the Big and Tall shops. He was muscular and solid without being bulky, and he couldn’t seem to get enough to eat. Something about a man who liked to eat made her toes tingle, not to mention what it did to her other parts.

#ConcursodenovelasAmazon2016.

SINOPSIS
¿Estás dispuesto a combatir contra tus propios miedos?
¿A iniciar esta arriesgada lectura?
Él lo hizo, y ahora está muerto…
Da rienda suelta a tu curiosidad, sé valiente, pasa y,
«¿Voy a morir?», te preguntas. «Voy a morir».
