Do what's right for you
So lately, you may have noticed i haven't been myself.
If you haven't, then don't be alarmed. I am okay. Just.
I'll fill you in on what's been going on in my life.
You may or may not know that i've had a few losses in my life lately. My furbaby, my kitty cat Smokey passed away in July, and less than a month later, my Nanna went to heaven too. Both had very long lives and were lucky they reached the ages they did. (Smokey was almost 14, and Nanna was 90 years.) They both did amazingly well to get to where they were.
But old age caught up with them.
Anyway i won't bore you with my sappy story.
During this time i had been writing the fifth Legend of the Archangel book.
As any artist would know, a creative outlet is the best way of dealing with the pain of loss or any emotional event in one's life.
I tried. I wasn't dealing.
I was drowning.
There's also the matter of finanicial stresses that caused me to reach breaking point.
Book sales were slow and i was paying off a trip to Europe i wasn't sure was going to happen. (World Youth Day.)
Anyway, long story short, on Sunday after many tears i made a decison to cut the things that were making me upset and stressed, out of my life.
I pulled out of World Youth Day and separated myself from all situations which were causing me distress. (Let's not get started on bullies.) Bullies are real, people. As a good friend told me. They are real even in adulthood. But the good thing about adulthood, is that you have a bit more life experience to pull from to deal with these situations. (Sometimes it fails in the case of me, the most socially awkward person ever!) And let's not get started on the reasons why adulthood is bad. Sometimes adulting is hard. That's why i hide in my writing cave and play with my funko figurines.
But right now, today, i feel good.
My health is improving (something that has also been getting me down.) I've always been self conscious about my body, body odour and all that. TMI. Sorry.
But have you ever gotten a whiff of another girl or guy and had body odour envy, in a good way? Like, they're wearing the yummiest perfume or they just naturally smell amazing?
I can't be the only one!
I have body odour envy all the time. How on earth do you girls stay smelling amazing all day? Is it your shampoo? Your perfume? Your body lotion? Do you just sweat candy or something?
Anyway, I've changed shampoo and now i have the most amazing smelling hair the first time in my life. I smell like a pina colada!
There was something else i was going to talk about…. what was it? Oh, yeah!
Stop listing to negative people telling you what you should do with your own life. YOU should do what is right for YOU! i've stopped listening to these people and my life is better for it. Don't let judgemental bitches rule your life! You own your body and life, not them.
In other news, book sales have also picked up. Yay! October has been amazing so far and i hope this momentum stays. Oh, and i am still going to Europe, but with my parents. I can't wait!

His Lullaby Baby by Airicka Phoenix - Blog Tour + review
Title: His Lullaby Baby Author: Airicka Phoenix Genre: Contemporary RomanceHosted by: Lady Amber's Tours
Blurb: Nothing ever happens by accident.Ex-combat search and rescue officer Toby McClain had seen all aspects of humanity in his ten years of service until friendly fire took him out of action. But bitterness was something Toby could never do. He was alive. He had his family and, after being ambushed by a door, he had his eyes on the sexy new innkeeper.
Adelaide Nixon had felt the burn of love once already. It was a mistake that cost her six years of her life. It was a punishment she never wanted to feel again, especially when there were two little people who depended on her to keep them safe. The last thing she wanted or needed was the attention of a guy whose family kept the gossip mills turning.
But no secret ever stays hidden in a place like Willow Creek. Even as Toby breaks through Addy’s walls, a new threat comes to town, leaving her no choice but to put more than her heart in Toby’s hands and trust him not to destroy her.

My Review:
This is the final instalment of the Baby Saga, and i think it's the best one yet! Toby and Addy are so cute. I like learning about Addy's past, which was just horrible. But the thing I know about these books is there is always a happy ending. I'm sad to say goodbye to one my favourite literary families. If you haven't checked out these books, I urge you to right now! 5/5 stars!

Excerpt: “I’m sorry,” she whispered, not sure why. It wasn’t like it was her fault. His chin tilted in her direction. Shadows played chase across that beautifully defined lines of his face from the kitchen lights breaking through the windows. They glimmered off the velvety surface of his breathtaking eyes and collected in dark pools in the hollows of his cheeks and temples. She stared hypnotized as he studied her. “What are you doing, Addy?”Having not been doing anything, Addy gave a start at the gruff demand. Her thought scattered as she tried to think. “I’m not—”Surprisingly warm fingers cut through the space between them and ghosted lightly along the side of her cheek. The feather light caress rocked her all the way to her toes. “Toby…”The light shifted and she could just make out the slow curl of his lips. “You just can’t seem to make up your mind which one to call me, can you?” The fingers drifted back and curled around the nape of her neck. She was dragged to him and positioned with her hips cradled between hard thighs. “If it makes any difference, the way you breathe my name, the way you say it with just a hint of pleading, makes me all kinds of crazy with the need to devour you.”Shit.His fingers tightened in her hair, locking her in place, helpless to do anything more than allow it when he pulled her closer. Her hands flew to his shoulders.“Kiss me, Addy.”She should have said no. Commonsense demanded it. Logic and rationality insisted. But his mouth was right there, a delicious, taunting sin begging her for just one taste. Her fingers curled into the material of his sweater, gripping him like a life preserver even as he was the one pulling her under. Her body dipped into his, no longer under her control. His heady scent of man, soap, and cheesecake consumed what little sense she had remaining. She kissed him.

He stood looking out the window at nothing. Not turning toward her, he spoke. “You were never in any real danger. You know that, right?”“I get that, but that’s not what I’m having issues with… that’s not what scares me.”“What is it then?” “You.” His body stiffened as he heard the fear in her voice. His head turned slightly in her direction. “You scared me before, but I’m absolutely terrified of you now. You bit me when you said you wouldn’t, and I’ve never seen someone be as violent as you were. I’ve never seen someone die right in front of me, let alone witnessing such a violent death.” “I didn’t bite you.” He continued looking out the window again, and his body relaxed. “I saw my blood dripping off your teeth and running down your chin. Now you’re going to lie about it?”“It wasn’t your blood. It was mine. I meant it when I said I wouldn’t feed on you in front of all them.”“Oh… I saw the blood, and I thought,” she trailed off in mid-sentence. “I guess that’s why it didn’t hurt. I thought maybe you just made it so I didn’t feel it.” “I wanted them to believe I was feeding from you, so I bit the inside of my lip. That’s why I kept my mouth on your neck for so long. I knew some of them were watching us. If I hadn’t pretended to feed on you, things could have turned sour fast, and it’s not like I could tell you my intentions without alerting everyone else.” He turned to face her just as she reached up and placed her hand on the spot his mouth had been focused on. He saw lust flash briefly in her eyes. Though he would never admit it to her, he enjoyed being close to her. He planned to tease her about kissing her and sucking on her neck, and he was going to act like he was the pig she thought he was, but he would never tell her how much he enjoyed being so close to her. His lips ached to kiss her again. “Then what was with killing that guy? All for a necklace?” Sabine shook her head and looked at him incredulously. “You could just buy another.”He looked down at the floor. He couldn’t stand making eye contact with her while he revealed the story so close to his heart. “It isn’t just a necklace. It’s my mother’s, and later belonged to my wife. That necklace is the only item I possessed that belonged to either of them, and he stole it from me.”“I didn’t realize you still had feelings like that. You made it seem like you don’t care about anything,” she said, moving to the side of the bed closest to him and sat down.“I do care about a few things. I may put on a tough exterior, but some feelings linger.”“So, it has sentimental value... couldn’t you just take it back? Did you have to kill him?”“Yes, I did. Everything I owned as a human was stripped from me by my father when I refused him. I managed to hide the necklace in a place he never suspected, and I retrieved it later. So, you see, it wasn’t just that it was theirs, but it was the only thing I had left from my mortal life. The necklace was the last bit of myself that I could still hold on to.”

I remember excruciating pain. I remember unimaginable heat. I remember an undeniably beautiful young woman. But I’m not sure whether these things are real.
One year ago, Ash Brandon was framed and sent to an unknown realm where he learnt his fate. A fate where he held the blood of an ancient line of Dragon shifters called Dragon Hearts. The thing is, he can no longer remember. All he knows is that he is a nineteen-year-old guy who wants to study architecture and one day, take over the family business.
Then two beautiful girls show up in his life — one who is sexy as hell and could be the woman of his dreams, while the other claims to have known him from a past he cannot remember. Only there is one thing he can’t wrap his mind around — Why does he crave each of the girls?
A now eighteen-year-old Eva, a powerful Dragon Heart Keeper from the Dragon Realm, is punished by her parents and sent to the earthly realm by her witch maiden. Her memories have all been wiped clean, but why can she still remember Ash, and the undeniable bond they once shared?
Emily is a Siren princess, and she always gets what she wants. When she sets her sights on Ash, all bets are off. She will make him hers — if only his Keeper weren’t in the way.

My Reviews
Book 1: If at First
What can I say about this? This book totally blew my expectations out of the water. It has suspense and humour and just when you think you know who the killer is, Watson twists it up and shocks you. I can't wait to start the next one. If you like Pretty Little Liars you'll love this series!
Book 2: Second Nature
These books get better and better with each instalment. The author really knows how to write suspense, humour and teen drama. And again the mystery had me guessing until the very end. I thought I knew who the killer was once again but Watson is far too good at eluding the reader and keeping us guessing. I need book 3 now!
Author Bio:
I am the mother of two beautiful girls who are growing up so fast, the wife of a cute guy in a uniform (my own personal hero), and a writer. My family will tell you it doesn't exactly fall into that order. Especially around dinner time when I "Cook" from a takeout menu with my face plastered to my computer.
I also have two cats who I adore more than I should, like more than people I know, and a dog. He is a beagle who is naughty but just so darned cute. He gives you that little beagle face and then steals your slice of pizza.
I have a busy mind and even busier fingers. I can write fast and keep track of a large cast, but I can't remember why I'm at the grocery store. I try to write lists but they always end up being notes for books or indie bands. I LOVE INDIE MUSIC!
I talk to myself in the car and sing too loud for my skill level. The invention of Bluetooth has made talking in the car less awkward but if you hear me singing, run.
I love writing. I love my characters like they are my friends and I am telling their version of the truth.
My worst flaw is the horrid English accent which I read everything with. If I read aloud it comes too. I'm not English, so I can't even do the accent which makes it awkward for anyone who is nearby.
My favourite authors are Robert Jordan and Jane Austen and Robert Mccammon and Jim Crace. I think Stephen King and Dean Koontz have the most unique imaginations. I have the hardest time not LOVING Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger. I know all the serial killers have a copy but I adored that novel. It made me feel a thousand different things and one of them was more alive. (And not in the least bit serial killer-ish)
When I grow up I want to be James Patterson or Nora Roberts. I aspire to be like them, always trying to hone my skills and work harder.
My genres are all over the map. I have Paranormal Romance, Contemporary Romance, Science Fiction, Erotica (under Sophie Starr my porn name so my mom doesn't know), Thrillers, and even some Romantic Comedies.
If you would like to reach me for whatever reason, please visit me at my facebook page -facebook.com/TaraBrownAuthor. You can also email me at tarabrownauthor@hotmail.com
Thanks for checking me out and I hope you got lost in something I wrote or it made you so HAPPY/SAD/BLISSFUL/TURNED ON/ANGRY/EXCITED/FRIGHTENED/HORRIFIED/MAD that you couldn't believe it.
The list of what is coming out this year is not completed. I will keep my Facebook page as up to date as I can.
Here is a short breakdown of my genres and pen names.
TARA BROWN- My main page and essentially my brand. Books published under Tara Brown will be adult and mostly suspense and romance. The Lonely and Single Lady Spy Series are among those. Not intended for young readers, at all. 18 and over.
AE WATSON - My pen name for Young Adult books. Born, HERE, The Seventh Day, White Girl Problems, etc. This is my page that is safe for YA readers of a mature reading level.
ERIN LEIGH - Adult Romance and Chick Lit. 18 and over recommended reading level.
TL BROWN - Adult Paranormal, Science Fiction, and Fantasy. NOT FOR YOUNG READERS AT ALL!!
SOPHIE STARR - Adult Only Erotica. NOT FOR YOUNG READERS AT ALL!!!!!!!!
Hope you have a great day and of course, happy reading! Remember to read at your comfort level. Not all books published by me, Tara Brown, are suited for everyone.

Halloween Scream
October 31, 2015
Sierra
The noise of the creaking stairs, the ones I had just crept up, sounded like it echoed in my ears. Someone had followed us here.
“Jake,” I whispered, hoping he was messing around. If he was, I would be angry. I lifted one leg after the other and slipped my high heels off, holding them both so I could tiptoe through the half-constructed mansion without making noise.
Jake didn't answer, but the footsteps had stopped from the moment I whispered.
The scary movie marathon we’d had before Rachel died flashed through my head, bringing ideas and memories with it. I tiptoed around the corner, brushing my Frankenstein’s bride dress on the rough edge where the unfinished walls met. The drywall scraped against me, making me wince as I hurried along the corridor to the back deck. Whoever was in the house with me was either moving silently too or they were standing still, listening.
Either way, I had a terrible feeling this wasn't a game.
That meant one thing: Jake was injured or hiding.
And I was alone.
My heart raced, my eyes burned from not blinking—fearful I would miss something—and my mouth was as dry as a mouthful of popcorn.
The floor creaked.
I froze.
“Sierra,” someone whispered into the dark.
My skin crawled when I realized it wasn't Jake. It wasn't his whisper. I’d heard that enough times, always in the dark, to know it wasn't him.
“Sierra, don't be scared.” It sounded like something it couldn't be, but I didn't believe. I stayed perfectly still, waiting for the moment I needed to run to the back deck and jump down onto the sandy beach.
What had the girls in the horror movies done wrong? What could I avoid? My mind raced, remembering the runners always got caught. They always got stabbed. Usually in the back. The thought of it made my skin burn where I imagined the knife would slice.
The hiders always got caught. They were the ones breathing too loudly or hiding in stupid places.
“Sierra, I won’t hurt you if you come to me.”
I squeezed my eyes shut for half a second and waited for the answer, the right choice, to pop into my head.
A dog barked, making me jump and open my eyes. The sound was joined by the creaking of the floorboards again.
With gentle breaths and controlled movements I crept along the hallway, entering the spot where the kitchen or master bedroom would likely go. The house was freshly sealed with windows and doors, but it was still in the drywall stage with plywood floors.
The massive back deck was through the white French doors, facing the beach and open ocean. The moon offered light, enough to make shadows move with me.
I hurried to an alcove I assumed would one day be a nook for a breakfast bar or maybe the ensuite soaker tub. I pressed my back against the wall and stared at the bright white French doors. If I could make it to them, I was free.
If only I had my cell phone, I could call the police or Jake or Vincent. Someone would come and help me. Even Ashton might answer.
But that wasn't an option. I scolded myself for my weakness in me and forced my focus to be on the doors. They were my answer. They were my hope.
As I exhaled and plotted my moment to run and everything I would do from that point on, the floor creaked in the hallway behind me.
It was now or never.
Live or die.
I took one more breath and pushed off from the wall…

Soulless by Jacinta Maree - Blog Tour + Review
Title: Soulless: The Immortal Gene, Book 1Author: Jacinta MareeGenre: Dystopian / Supernatural New AdultHosted by: Lady Amber's Tours
Blurb: Welcome to Soulless.
We are the generation that laughs at death.
Reincarnation; what was once considered a gift of immortality has become an eternity of nightmares.
Nadia Richards lives in a world plagued by reincarnation, a system of recycling souls where all past memories, personalities and traumatic events are relived daily in disjointed sequences. Trapped within their own warped realities, not even the richest and most powerful are saved from their own minds unraveling. Madness is the new human nature, and civilizations are crumpling beneath themselves trying to outrun it.
Within a society that ignores death, Nadia appears to be the one exception to the reincarnation trap. Born without any reincarnated memories and with printless eyes, the hot tempered 19 year old quickly becomes the ultimate prize to all those wishing to end the vicious cycle, or for some, to ensure they could evade death forever.
Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26127014-soulless
My reviewSoulless is a fresh take on the dystopian genre. It is exciting and full of action. If you like Divergent or Taherah Mafi's Juliette Chronicles, then you'll enjoy Soulless! Some parts really grossed me out but I think that's an estimate of Jacinta's talent as a writer. Jacinta is a fantastic writer with an amazing imagination and I cannot wait to read more from her. 5/5 stars!
Author Bio: Born in Melbourne Australia, Jacinta Maree considers herself a chocoholic with an obsession with dragons, video gaming and Japan. She writes a variety of genres including YA paranormal, steampunk, horror, new adult, dystopian and fantasy. Excerpt:
The world had turned to waste; immortality was never meant for man and it drove humanity to the edge of destruction. There had been plenty of stories about how the human race would end. Unlike the movies from Hollywood, there was no big bang like a sun exploding; there was no catastrophic moment where our world was flipped upside down like in a nuclear war or zombie virus outbreak. It was gradual, like a seeping virus that withered everything within its path until it ground us down into brittle, hollowed cores. It wasn’t out to destroy our bodies; it destroyed everything we once treasured. Hope, love, compassion, joy… even our mortality. It was all gone. And now it mocked us with a peace we could never achieve, death.

Their Mortal Sin by Airicka Phoenix - Cover Reveal
Title: Their Mortal Sin (Their Mortal Trilogy #1)Author: Airicka Phoenix Genre: Dark Paranormal RomanceHosted by: Lady Amber's Tours
Blurb: It started with a drink and ended with an earth shattering climax... Tori McCallister didn’t have time for fun or men. Her five year plan allowed for neither and that suited her just fine. Who needed hot, primal f*cking anyway? The man, the one who slipped up behind her at the bar, hiked up her skirt and made her come hard and fast right where she stood, was an animal. Wild and dangerous, and not human. His touch was sexual euphoria, his lips were the key to all the O’s she could possibly desire and, oh, he has a friend. But when passions run out of control and rules are broken, it’s up to them to protect the woman that doesn’t belong in their world. If they can keep their hands—and other body parts—off and out of her. Their Mortal: (Adult Paranormal Romance Trilogy)

Everything was white.Everything was black. How could something be two things at once?Dyston didn’t remember the bullet. Was it a bullet? He only remembered leaping on top of his brother. And then the pain. The pain was unlike anything he had ever felt.“Lakyn?” He gasped. “Lakyn!” He eased himself off his brother’s body and slumped down on the palace’s cracked stone steps next to him. “Lake, look at me, buddy.”He looked up into the ice blue eyes of his older brother and saw a kind of blissful expression on his unshaven face. That look shot him right through the heart all over again. It hurt worse than the actual bullet.“It’s all right, little brother. It’s just a flesh wound. I should be worried about you. You’re hurt worse.” Lakyn reached out and touched Dyston’s chest. He brushed his fingertips over his brother’s skin sending some of his healing trait towards the affected area. There was a gaping hole in the middle of Dyston’s chest. The edges of the wound looked charred and blackened. What would cause a wound like this? It definitely wasn’t an arrow. No matter how many times Lakyn tried healing Dyston, it just wasn’t working.“I’m… so… sorry,” he gasped, before falling unconscious against the steps.“Lakyn? No. Don’t close your eyes. Lakyn? Lakyn!” He wasn’t answering him. Why wasn’t he answering him? He was about to shout for help when pain seized him and he fell onto the steps beside his brother.
***Scarlett checked her phone and the oak bedroom door. Dyston should have been here by now. Beth had probably wanted to spend more time with her youngest son before going back to her presidential duties. The door burst open and Scarlett shot up in her bed. She pulled the sheet up to her chin to cover herself. She’d dressed in the sexiest sleepwear she could find, a black lace nightgown, ready for the long awaited reunion with Dyston. But it was not Dyston who rushed into her room.“Em?”“Turn on the TV. Quick!” Scarlett blinked, barely registering what Emer was telling her to do. Thankfully she didn’t have to move off the bed. Emer found the remote control and switched on the wall-mounted flatscreen before joining her on the bed. Emer sat on the end and Scarlett moved to sit beside her. Emer nervously twirled her blonde ponytail around her finger.A new program was on the screen with the words ‘breaking news’ slashed across it. Emer turned up the volume. What they witnessed made their blood freeze.“We’re coming to you live from St Peter’s square in Vatican City, where it appears there has been a shooting,” the news reporter said. An unsteady helicopter camera shot filled the screen showing an aerial view of the square. The Palace could easily be seen on the left. When it zoomed in to focus on something on the steps of the palace, Scarlett’s breath caught in her throat.“No!” she whispered. It couldn’t be. She would know those two figures anywhere.“Now, it is not clear who was actually shot at this point, but it appears there were possibly two victims, both related.” A female reporter appeared on the screen, standing in front of the palace steps. She put her hand to her ear. “We’ve just got confirmation from the Nephilim Palace, home to the President of Nephilim society, that the victims are none other than The President’s own sons, Lakyn and Dyston Blackbell.”“Oh my God!” Emer exclaimed, her hand flew to her mouth. Scarlett couldn’t breathe.Scarlett swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. She could still feel the familiar sting in her eyes as if she still had tears, but no liquid pooled there. She couldn’t speak. What words could convey how she felt?“The Blackbell brothers have been taken to the private Nephilim hospital where they’ll be undergoing emergency procedures in order to save them.” A montage of Lakyn filled the screen. It showed him leaving the palace and walking to a waiting car, at the airport walking to the Blackbell Inc private plane, always dressed in a well-cut suit. It also showed him shaking hands with powerful world leaders and Nephilim dignitaries – people whom he had done business with. Scarlett tuned out.“Lakyn Blackbell has become a public figure in recent years, heading his family business Blackbell Incorperated, which as you all you, created the angelic weapons most of you use today. The Blackbells also used to run an Academy in Melbourne Australia, until it was destroyed last year in a suspicious fire.”The last few words gave Scarlett pause.“Suspicious fire?” Emer questioned. “That was you. It was destroyed by you when you fell.”“I know,” Scarlett croaked. “It seems as though someone covered it up.”“That’s weird. I wonder who?”“Probably Beth or Zachariah… I’ve heard enough.” Scarlett turned off the TV when the reporter started to go on about how Lakyn became the head of the Lucifites with his father. Scarlett was glad there was no gossip about Dyston. She slipped off the bed and went to her closet.“You’re going to see him, aren’t you?” Emer asked, studying her best friend from the end of the bed. Scarlett nodded. “I have to. Something isn’t right about this. Lakyn has the ability to heal. He could heal Dyston and himself. There’s no way they could be mortally wounded.”“But the reporter said the news had come from the Palace, from Beth herself.” Scarlett finished dressing in jeans and a long sleeved black top, her boots and a leather jacket. She tied her long unruly red hair into a ponytail atop her head and strapped her dagger at her hip. “Something doesn’t feel right.” With one last glance at Emer, Scarlett left the room.***
