Firefighters douse blaze by Caravan Club Birkdale

A fire crew extinguished a dune fire today in Weld Road Birkdale. It is believed this was created by natural causes, due to the recent intensely hot weather.

The fire finally put in its place.

Then the road was opened again, much to the delight of both man and beast …

This week’s confirmation by the government that they will not back the controversial Swansea Tidal Lagoon has brought in mixed emotions.

Southport's Libdems are not happy about the news.

“Disappointing, but certainly not surprising” stated  Southport’s Liberal Democrats, who have been suggesting a similar scheme for Southport.

The Southport/Blackpool Lifeboat Disaster and Birkdale Palace Hotel

Fourteen heroic Southport lifeboatmen were provisionally laid to rest at the site of the Palace Hotel after being drowned, trying to save lives on December 9, 1886.

A German vessel called the Mexico was driven aground off Southport in the famous Southport and Blackpool lifeboats disaster.

Eliza Fernley, the Southport crew’s lifeboat, had been launched from Southport in response to distress signals from the Mexico’s crew.  At eleven o’clock that  night  the Eliza Fernley mana...

Hopefully no one was under this branch when it fell from some height last night.
Councils are forever eager to destr...

Southport lads venture forth to the 2CV GB Registers Day

Southport pals, Dave Elsby (Motor Engineer) and Jason Regan (Founder of Citroen 2CV Appreciation group) attended the 2CV GB Registers Day in Birkenhead.

Jason remembers that his parents had 2CVs when he was just a small boy and has loved the French cars with a great passion since then. Therefore, attending the Registers Day was to him a dream come true…
