Southport Flower Show 2018: more images

Southport Flower Show 2018

Thursday 16th  to 19th August from 10am - 6pm (5pm Sunday).

Venue: Victoria Park

One high-flyer at the show, who was not deterred by the threat of August rain showers...

Even dull weather could not stop the magic of the show...
The second day of the show drifted into the third and for a while the sun showed its face.

NB. Thanks to Kyle Regan for additional images.

Southport Flower Show is the largest independent flower show in the country, attracting over...

In Pictures: Southport Flower Show 2018

The day was dull and the crowds seemed thinner than last year.

Regardless of the weather the show is always a magical experience.

Time for a quick brew...
Lord Fearn OBE appeared to be enjoying the ice cream...
Wigan's ukulele crew were, as usual, having a good time...

Floral blooms galore of course stole the show.

One way to beat gridlock

Getting around town with increased gridlock and ticket-hungry traffic wardens ready to pounce on every corner can be frustrating. However, this high-flyer seems to have sorted out the problem.

Sefton's finest - always ready for action...
Meanwhile, down at Ainsdale beach some unfortunate drivers have fallen victims to the deep, car-grabbing, sands. Of course it's an ongoing problem as well...
Wrecked cars moved from Formby/Ainsdale shore
Cars and sand are a bad mix at times, as we have seen in the past...

Angry organist on Lord Street: Police called in

Several police vehicles arrived this afternoon in Lord Street to deal with a problem involving an angry organist.

The man, who was attempting to play gloomy church music, squared up to police and community support officers for some time.

A great deal of shouting and gesturing went on for some time.

Although not yet confirmed, it appeared that the officers were attempting to move the organist on after local complaints.

The unusual fiasco attracted curious onlookers to the scene.

Crop circle creators - studying Lancashire fields?

Strange things over the Lancashire farmlands

The origin of crop (corn) circles remains a divisive issue. Are they created by strange phenomena or simply manmade?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crop_circle

Above: the golden ripening fields of Lancashire with the ancient town of Ormskirk in the distance.

We hear many claims about what causes crop circles but very little about what is seen around these sites.

One particular photo I took later revealed some rather inexplicable o...

UK: Christianity is ‘not’ our customary spiritual tradition

Anyone who cannot appreciate this historical fact is pure evidence of the highly successful indoctrination process of the Church.

Christianity is ‘not’ our customary spiritual tradition. Britain was meticulously missionised by that all-encompassing and manipulative eastern, one-god, cult. Christianity was compelled upon us in exactly the same way that missionaries invaded Africa and shattered all the native religions therein. Just in the same way that they did it in Australia to the Aborigines...

Formby Ghost Ship Wreck

The Northwest coast is littered with old shipwrecks. This is one off Formby that I photographed from a good distance, with a superzoom camera, a while ago.

I am not certain but I 'think' this is the ghostly remains of the Iconic Star.

If it is indeed the Iconic Star, this ship went down in October 1939.
The ship sank close to the end of its journey from Rio de Janeiro to Liverpool. It usually can only at seen at extreme low tide.
When the water ebbs away one can see this ghostly shipw...

Lughnasadh (Lugh's Commemoration)

We may learn much about where we are going today by studying our ancient spiritual heritage. The following gives us one small example.

So, how many curious individuals in contemporary society have ever pondered over the spiritual legacy left behind for us by our pre-Christian ancestors; who once dwelt in the fair green isles of Britain, etc?

Vital clues to this mysterious quest can be found in the craggy landscape and also in dusty works of mythological expression. The answers are here fo...

Magnificent Seven Parachuting To Support Teenage Cancer Trust

A Teenage Cancer Trust supporter said.

“I'm so very proud of these guys who are willing to parachute out of a plane at 10,000 feet to help raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust - North West & Cumbria on the 9th of September in Lancaster."

Teenager Cancer Trust helps teenagers, young adults and their families who are possibly going through the worst time in their lives. Not only supporting the patient but also the family and supporting them afterwards too…
