3 Deaths in 3 Months

In 1993... My Grandfather died, followed by my mother, and then my father died unexpectedly 2 months later.

I found myself orphaned and homeless at 17 years old, and I was already struggling with severe psychological issues from surviving years of child abuse and social isolation.

I had an eighth grade education, no substantial work experience, no adults left in my life, and I had alienated myself f Read more of this blog post »

“I lay on my floor crying again… shaking. Searching for inner strength and coming up empty. My eyes burned and my mouth was dry as I sucked on air that seemed to keep getting thicker and harder to breathe. I tried to leave again, but ended up leaning my forehead against the door, feeling defeated and wishing the Grim Reaper would come for me in all his silky, black glory.”

WACKY READING CHA...: 15X15 Challenge 264 184 Sep 06, 2016 05:03PM
“Bipolar disorder is about buying a dozen bottles of Heinz ketchup and all eight bottles of Windex in stock at the Food Emporium on Broadway at 4:00 a.m., flying from Zurich to the Bahamas and back to Zurich in three days to balance the hot and cold weather (my sweet and sour theory of bipolar disorder), carrying $20,000 in $100 bills in your shoes into the country on your way back from Tokyo, and picking out the person sitting six seats away at the bar to have sex with only because he or she happens to be sitting there. It's about blips and burps of madness, moments of absolute delusion, bliss, and irrational and dangerous choices made in order to heighten pleasure and excitement and to ensure a sense of control. The symptoms of bipolar disorder come in different strengths and sizes. Most days I need to be as manic as possible to come as close as I can to destruction, to get a real good high -- a $25,000 shopping spree, a four-day drug binge, or a trip around the world.”
Andy Behrman, Electroboy: A Memoir of Mania

“I don't suffer from my insanity -- I enjoy every minute of it.”
Sherrilyn Kenyon, Dance with the Devil

“No matter what -- Don't Quit! Follow Your Dreams...”
Sue Julsen

“I tried, I really tried, to stick with it. I planned to grow old with this man and possibly die in his arms.”
Brenda Perlin

“She'd been trained as a child no to trust anyone, but he'd just saved her life, and she was freezing. He could be a yeti for all she cared.”
Krystal Shannan, A Very Russian Christmas
