An interview about Dag, with Gary Vanucci

Apparently I'm very behind in linking interviews here. And I was so chatty at the beginning of the month, too! Here's a fun interview with Gary Vanucci.

Why do you write? That is an excellent question. I could be flip and say, “Because real work is hard,” but that would be disingenuous, since I've always had to have a day job. I think it's because I'm compelled. Part of it is that I'm a shy person, in person, so I don't express myself often, and even when I do, I do it inarticulately.

Also, there's potatoes, superpowers, mentions of new projects I haven't disclosed yet, and a look at some of the entertainment that inspires me.

Guest Post- I Love Writing Pulp.

Since I forgot to share these links sooner, we'll be continuing a deluge of my rambles, from last month. Today we have a fun guest post discussing the fun of writing pulp.

Pulp, to me has this feeling of disposability to it, like the writers and artists were aware that there was a decent chance their story would be read once then reused as kindling. And that extends to the characters, as well- they’re completely disposable, because there’s not going to be a sequel, out two summers from now- so the body counts are just about always higher...
The reason I’m so enamored with that pulpy effect is that life is boring. Mine certainly is. And the whole point of writing is to have fun, and reading, too. We don’t read to visit normal people doing normal things. We read to see the fantasy and the unlikely in the world.
