I'm curious as to why Milo isn't jumping all over the rules for magic in Unearthed Arcana, It seems like they would solve a lot of his problems with limited spells per day.

They require DM permission, and are therefore something he avoids unless absolutely necessary.

Yay! I almost jumped for joy when Mordenkainen started "squeaking". Another great chapter and I'm hyped for Milo meeting up with the others soon.

Thanks! I’d been looking forward to writing that scene since before I started on Confirmed Critical.

It looks to me like Rainbow Servant doesn’t advance familiars. I was expecting Mordy to, around now, try to convince Milo to please take more Wizard levels so he can talk to other rats. Since that doesn’t look likely, will Mordy ever advance more?

I can’t imagine what rat you would want Mordy to talk to…

There are some tricks to advance familiars despite being in a PrC, but the easiest one takes a feat. Milo’s most recent feat choice was made in a moment of panic, and not with foresight as to what would be most useful, or keep him from getting bit by Mordy.

Would a druid planning on becoming a planar shepherd be smited instantly for their intention, or would the gods wait and see what plane they attune to? It's just a druid with a cute gimmick if they're not taking a plane with an altered flow of time (e.g. D

Most likely the gods would wait and watch to see if the Druid steps close to the line. It’s a dangerous game, though, because that Druid can get out of hand really fast, to the point where the gods might not be able to stop her anymore. Even the evil gods don’t want to see that kind of thing. Mostly. You never know with some of the more tentacle-y ones, though.
