Ambivert Navigates Spotlight
Growing up, when I wanted to be in the spotlight, I was. Through dance, music, theater, and more, I put myself square in the middle of the stage and relished it. Attention was the nature of the “job” if you will, especially when I was first chair trumpet, section leader in choir, starring in the musical, and the team captain of danceline. It was expected, and I loved it when I chose it.
How very extroverted of me.
When I didn’t want to be in the middle of it all, I hung back. A lot! I was ha...

The Store is Open
If you build it, they will come.
Field of Dreams
Or so I told myself as I spent hours building an e-commerce store earlier this month. I built it, but until today, I’ve not let anyone know about it aside from three people, two of those being family members. Because I’m scared! I have no clue what to expect.
For years I’ve had readers requesting signed paperbacks, especially since I live in the middle of nowhere and don’t get to many signings. Parenting obligations win out most of the time, bu...

Writer’s Block & Trust
This week, I’m trusting the process.
[image error]The writing process, that is.
Doubt has been my white noise for a few years. Always there, even if I wasn’t cognizant of it. Grating. Grinding. Stopping me in my tracks before I had a chance to get started. And I’ve been dangling from the ledge for far too long. Something had to change.
On Sunday night as I flipped to a new week in my planner, I wrote words I needed to be reminded of.
Trust the process. All of it.
My goal this week was to just give in a...

Allergic to Fluff
I have two WIPs. The first is the follow-up to Farm Fresh and Picked Fresh. Fresh Earth focuses on Charlie & Leo. You met them in the first two Naked Organics books, but this book really dives into Charlie’s psyche. It’s been a hard book to write, mostly because Charlie has a hellish past that comes to bite back.
My second WIP is Extra Ordinary. This story started out as the short story, something along the lines of 5,000 words. It was written entirely from August’s (Gus) POV, but I always wa...

Quill & Brush
At times, targeted ads really work. Like really, really work. This January, I fell hook, line, and sinker. I blame a metal caddy and bamboo brushes.
See, I’m trying to set up systems and routines to make my work and home life run smoother. Since I work where I live, if one area is running like clockwork, the other is often in disarray. Add in the hyperfocus of an author on a creative tear, and it might be days before I come up for air to realize the bathroom needs a scrub or finally notice th...

Map to North Star
In September of 2018, one of my beta readers was coming to Minneapolis for work. She wanted to see some of the sites from the North Star trilogy, so I created a Google Map for her so she could find her way.
I went a bit overboard when making the map, putting in not only locations but also linking photos and info about each spot on the map as they related to my trilogy.
Rather than keeping this to myself, I figured I’d share it with you. Zoom in, click on pins, and info about each locale will...

North Star – The Complete Trilogy
Coming January 22nd
Love came too early for Hugo and Kevin. College, other relationships, kids for Kevin, and years got in the way. But a chance meeting at a lake in the middle of nowhere proves that spark remains. Now, life is a lot more complex, but falling in love again is easy.
A romance with a seventeen-year intermission. Love that’s worth the wait, and now a family to fight for.
Hugo and Kevin were best friends and secret lovers back in high school, but love came too early for them to...
A Simple, Organized Life
My overarching goal this year is to simplify my life so I have time and energy to focus on what I want rather than having my attention pulled in fifty other directions. It’s been my goal for a lot of years, and I have an inkling this might be one of your goals too. So today, let’s talk about some areas where life always seems to trip people up and a few resources to help us conquer these perpetual battles.
The world is complex and noisy and demanding, and nothin...

Planner Plans
In so many ways, I’m ready to say “Good Riddance” to 2018. It was a trying year, at best. At worst, it was a hellish landscape filled with trigger upon trigger for anyone who’s been sexually assaulted. And on top of that, time seemed to both creep by and go at the speed of lightning.
I’m ready for a new start, and nothing says new start to me than a new planner.
I’m actually a little behind on the planner, considering tomorrow is the new year, but that’s the beauty of undated planners. You c...

Loungewear
If you follow me on Facebook, you’ll know I despise pants, aka leg prisons. I’m a skirt person or a dress person or anything-that-doesn’t-bind-at-the-waist-and-knees person. And since I work at home, I get to wear whatever I want. No dress code to follow. No one to impress.
None of this has gone unnoticed by my husband, and for Christmas, he delivered. He bought me nightgowns that can double as a dress, and the fabric is so soft, it’s like wearing butter.
Then yesterday I found another outfit...
