Vegan Nacho Cheese on the Cheap
From BakeandDestroy.net:
I love nachos. So much. Here is a picture of me being insanely happy about a plate of nachos:
Everyone who isn’t crazy knows that the best part about nachos is the nacho cheese – you know, the melted orange crayon-looking stuff that gets pumped out of a metal box? Mmm…orange. My go-to vegan nacho cheese recipe is great, but it calls for cashews, which I am almost always out of because I make so much vegan nacho cheese. So today I nacho’d up a “potato cheese” recipe t...

Daiya #SayCheezecake Review + Giveaway
From BakeandDestroy.net:

Starting with a quesadilla because I am an adult.
Daiya (pronounced “day-ah”) is well-known in the vegan world for their dairy-free cheese shreds. If you’ve had vegan pizza in any restaurant or Whole Foods store there’s a good chance you’ve tried it. More recently, their block cheeses, cheese slices and cream cheese spreads have been wowing vegans and maybe even converting some omnivores who used “I could never give up cheese” as their excuse for not joining the dark...

A Date with Cookie Dough Bites
From BakeandDestroy.net:
The other night at the Daiya Cheezecake launch party, Marla Rose from Vegan Street went on a rant about raw vegan desserts that made me pee my pants laughing. It’s not that they can’t taste really good – they do, for the most part. It’s just that they tend to be the same couple ingredients over and over again presented in different shapes:

One thing we can all agree on: dates are weird looking.

How to Take Better Food Photos
From BakeandDestroy.net:
*Update* Dang, you guys had a LOT to say about this on social media. Apparently you prefer the photo on the left, and that’s your opinion, no worries! This post was never about these two photographs, it was meant to be easy advice from professionals that any of us can use, so my apologies if it came off as something other that. It was not.
I learned a lot of lessons while writing my book. 1) Cookbook editors do not approve of phrases such as “F cookbooks” and “cock b...

The Plantpower Way: Strawberry Mint Cacao Cheesecake
From BakeandDestroy.net:

Here’s a photo of me with the book because I don’t know how to not make everything about me.
Rich Roll and Julie Piatt are pretty cool. He’s an entertainment attorney-turned vegan endurance athlete, motivational speaker and plant-based nutrition advocate, and she’s a plant-based chef, healer, musician and yogi. Together, they are two people who remind me that I am generally a lazy turd – but that’s OK, because if Rich can change his life at 40 years old, there’s still...

#VeganVortex Spring Charity Raffle
From BakeandDestroy.net:
There are about a zillion good reasons to come to the #VeganVortex Spring Market, most of which I wrote about here. But if you can’t make it, there are still a lot of good reasons why you should buy a raffle ticket! First of all, if you buy them online, they’re only $1.50 each. Second, if you live near Chicago, visit often, or were planning on visiting soon – this pretty much covers you for things to do and places to eat!
Our non-profit partner this time around it the...

Crave Eat Heal Blog Tour: Butternut Squash Queso
From BakeandDestroy.net:
I am a very big fan of Annie Oliverioand what she does at An Unrefined Vegan. She makes the kind of food – healthy, delicious, satisfying and nutrient-rich – that I actually eat day to day that enables me to dream up things likeDoritos-Crusted Tofu and Green Bean Casserole Pizza without catching the diabeetus. So of course I jumped at the chance to take part in her blog tour and to share a recipe from her soon-to-be-released book Crave, Eat, Heal: Plant-based, Whole-f...
