2015
So it's unavoidable. 2015 is here. No hoverboards. No flying cars. No "Mr. Fusion". Personally, I blame The Illuminati.
But all that aside, I've decided I need to take a crack at sharing some of my plans and goals for 2015, this year of years. So here goes.
WRITING
Obviously up front and center for me is the worldwide release of IMPULSE on February 3rd. And I do mean worldwide. US/Canada (Hardback), UK, Australia (yay!) Europe, and even India (all mmpb). Couldn't be more excited about this and I'm extremely pleased that University Book Store in Seattle will be hosting my kickoff event. There may be more events coming, but for now, that's what's on the docket. Later on in the year there will be a mass market edition of IMPULSE, which will feature an excerpt from STARBOUND, book II in the series.
STARBOUND has been delivered to my editor Sheila in New York and I'm sure she is diligently reading it now. There will be revisions to that manuscript (I'm sure), but hopefully they won't be too daunting. At 99,000 words it's the largest draft I've ever turned in. I imagine that number will grow during the year. STARBOUND will be released in January, 2016. Also, Stephon Martiniere is doing the cover right now, so I may be posting some cover art on that one sooner rather than later.
Finally, we have book III, otherwise known as DEFIANT. Yes, I have been dabbling in a book that isn't due out for 2 years, but it's tons of fun. One of the problems though is that until Sheila and I nail down the final story for STARBOUND, the story in DEFIANT may change. A lot. Right now though she's at 15,000 words, most of which I may throw out if I have to in the end. But we'll see.
EVENTS
My schedule is light for the moment but filling up quickly. The book launch of IMPULSE is due up in February, but there are other places you may be able to find me this year:
RUSTYCON - Sea-Tac Hilton, Seattle, WA, January 16-18 - Most likely I will just be prowling this con, making connections and checking out the lay of the land.
IMPULSE Book Launch - Tuesday February 3rd, 7:00PM, University Bookstore, Seattle
RADCON - February 13-15, Pasco, WA, Red Lion Inn. I will be paneling and partying all weekend.
*NORWESCON 38 - April 2-5, Sea-Tac Red Lion Inn. I will likely be barconning it. I will probably pay for a membership, but probably only for Saturday.
*MISCON 29 - May 22-25. Plans aren't firm on attending this one yet, but it's on my list.
WORLDCON - August 19-23, Spokane. Will be attending in some capacity.
*ORYCON 37 - Nov. 20-22, Portland, OR. New hotel this year but I should be paneling and partying there as well.
*Attendance unconfirmed at this time.
PERSONAL GOALS
Bluntly, I'd like to lose some weight in 2015, but that's tough when your ass is stuck to a chair 12 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Health, I have a variety of minor health issues that I would like to get past this year. We'll see.
Personal - And finally, it would be nice to have a girlfriend this year. Local, long distance, or automated would be fine at this point.
