Wider Ebook Availability for Some Stories
Hey everyone! Hope you’re all hanging in there during this strange and difficult time.
I have a quick update for you for May: Uncanny Collateral, the first book of the Valkyrie Chronicles, and Murder at the Kinnen Hotel, a Powder Mage novella, are both available at all the usual bookstores again (not just Amazon)! Powder Mage Modern Cover Remake Entries
The Powder Mage Modern Cover Remake Contest was a whole ton of fun, and we ended up with some awesome entries! I believe that we scraped social media for everything tagged with #powdermage. You can see all the entries below - each is linked to the account they came from.

Powder Mage Cover Modern Remake Contest!
Hey everyone! I know there’s a whole bunch of us stuck inside right now; hanging out, going stir crazy, and in some cases without a whole lot to do. To make the best of the situation, I’m staging a new contest. It’s going to be very simple: stage your own modern remake of one of the Powder Mage covers! If you don’t know what that means, you can check out a whole bunch of them here. Jump below for the rules:
To enter, simply stage your own modern remake of one of the Powder Mage book covers. This can be for any of the books, including the sequel trilogy or the novellas. Post your new cover on social media and make sure you tag me (twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and use #powdermage and #brianmcclellan. You don’t need to include the text (though you’ll get bonus points for doing the whole package). The contest will end on April 30th, with the winner announced the following week.
The winner will take home a full signed paperback set of the Powder Mage Trilogy and Gods of Blood and Powder. The contest is open internationally.

Blood of Empire Audiobook!
The Blood of Empire audiobook is finally here! Huzzah! You can pick it up on Audible and iTunes right now!
For those of you wondering why the narrator is different, Christian Rodska was not able to recover enough from his illness in time to record for the revised deadline. Here is a note from him: “Christian has cancer, he’s been battling it for 14 years and has just undergone his latest course of chemotherapy treatment. He’s recovering well but, regrettably, didn’t feel well enough to do Blood of Empire justice. Christian was instrumental in casting and then preparing John Telfer to take the reigns for the final installment of the series.”
I know this is a big blow to those of you waiting to cap off the Powder Mage books. We’re all very sad about this, but please have your best thoughts for Christian that he continues to recover and can record more books in the future.

A Small Distraction
Hey all. There’s a lot going on in the world right now with Covid-19 and the US presidential race creating an over-sized shadow of uncertainty. I’ve found myself glued to the internet all week, getting very little done, and it occurred to me that we could all take this time to step away from social media and the barrage of often conflicting information. So I’m just here to encourage you to rediscover your hobbies - work on the yard, dust off that knitting, re-examine your Steam game list. Maybe even read a book!
Unfortunately, a huge number of people are in for a double wallop as their income has been cut off due to the safety-oriented shut downs sweeping the world. There’s not a lot I can do for them aside from provide a little distraction. To that end, I’ve put my Powder Mage novella collection and short story collection both up for free on my website store for a short time. I am asking that you only grab it if you’ve been adversely affected by Covid-19. I’m not going to police this in any way, and I certainly include those with sick family members or those being forced to work long shifts at hospitals and grocery stores. The rest of you can still get both from your favorite ebook stores.
