From the Backlist: Servant of the Crown
Looking for more Powder Mage stories? Check out Servant of the Crown!
This is the first Powder Mage Universe prequel novella focusing on Tamas, and it picks up right after the end (but before the epilogue) of Forsworn. Set thirty-five years before the events of Promise of Blood, this story shows the point of view of a young Captain Tamas, struggling with the Adran royal cabal, his superiors within the army, and the nobility of Adro.
It also explores his early relationship with the old Iron King and a certain half-Adran powder mage by the name of Erika…
Here’s the official blurb:

Tamas is soon drawn into a conflict that goes to the very highest office in the land, and his only ally is the most unlikely of people; a young noblewoman named Erika, who needs Tamas to teach her how to wield her powers as a powder mage.
Captain Tamas is an ambitious young officer in the Adran army. As a commoner, he is one of very few without noble blood to hold a rank. When he challenges the son of a duke over an insult, the subsequent duel lands him in hot water with the nobility and the royal cabal of Privileged sorcerers.

From the Backlist: Powder Mage RPG
Did you know there’s an official roleplaying game for the Powder Mage universe? And it’s on sale for the holidays through December 15th!
This was a Kickstarter project back in 2018 that blew past its initial goal. In this tabletop RPG, players can immerse themselves in a world of muskets, intrigue, sorcery, and revolution set against the backdrop of an industrializing fantasy world.
The book contains details about the Powder Mage Universe—the Nine, and the lands beyond, and sorcery—with rules for playing your very own Powder Mage, Magebreaker, Privileged, Knacked, and all the wonderful characters you can imagine; fantastic art of popular characters in the series; pregenerated adventures; and more. There’s also an add-on set available which includes a Powder Mage action card deck!
Here’s the official blurb:

Set four years after the end of the Adran-Kez War as recounted in The Autumn Republic, the Powder Mage RPG outlines a world in the upheaval of political, social, and technological revolution. It makes use of the Savage Worlds game system to allow for a versatile and easy-to- learn rule set, fast character creation, and the ability to set out on an adventure within minutes. It also includes previously unprinted information about the countries, people, and history of the Powder Mage Universe.
Players can throw themselves into conflicts throughout the Nine Nations, from the power struggles within the budding republic of Adro to the unstable intrigue of the migrating courts of the baron-kings of Unice. To do so, they can take on any number of roles: a humble Knacked trying to create a family fortune, a Privileged sorcerer out to change the world, or even a powder mage bent on revenge for past slights.

From the Backlist: Forsworn
Want to read the first story in the Powder Mage Universe? Check out my backlist!
Forsworn is a novella set about thirty-five years before the events in Promise of Blood—in fact, just before Erika ja Leora’s first meeting with Field Marshal Tamas.
This is the first of the prequel stories, so it’s also a great entry point to the Powder Mage Universe for readers looking to try it out for the first time! It’s available in both ebook and audiobook, and a hardcover version is also available as part of the Powder Mage Novella Bundle.
Here’s a little more about it:

Erika ja Leora is a powder mage in northern Kez, a place where that particular sorcery is punishable by death. She is only protected by her family name and her position as heir to a duchy.
When she decides to help a young commoner—a powder mage marked for death, fugitive from the law—she puts her life and family reputation at risk and sets off to deliver her new ward to the safety of Adro while playing cat and mouse with the king’s own mage hunters and their captain, Duke Nikslaus.

As war rages, both sides are in a race to find the one thing that could turn the tides to their favor--a stone with the power to turn humans into gods--in the second book of Brian McClellan's epic fantasy tale of magic and gunpowder.
The country is in turmoil. With the capital city occupied, half a million refugees are on the march, looking for safety on the frontier, accompanied by Lady Flint's soldiers. But escaping war is never easy, and soon the battle may find them, whether they are prepared or not.
Back in the capital, Michel Bravis smuggles even more refugees out of the city. But internal forces are working against him. With enemies on all sides, Michel may be forced to find help with the very occupiers he's trying to undermine.
Meanwhile, Ben Styke is building his own army. He and his mad lancers are gathering every able body they can find and searching for an ancient artifact that may have the power to turn the tides of war in their favor. But what they find may not be what they're looking for.

From the Backlist: War Cry
Will you join or will you die? The third option includes monsters.
If you’re looking to try my books outside the Powder Mage Universe, did you know I wrote an original, stand-alone novella for Tor.com? Check out War Cry!
I describe this one as “a fantasy world with WWII-type technology in which army rangers fight an endless war against shapeshifters and illusionists on the high plains.“ So you’re still getting hard-hitting, action-focused military fantasy, but in a totally new world with different technology and especially different magic.
Here’s a little more about it:

The war has been going on since long before I was born.
Teado is a Changer, a shape-shifting military asset trained to win wars. His platoon has been stationed in the Bavares high plains for years, stranded. As they ration supplies and scan the airwaves for news, any news, their numbers dwindle. He's not sure how much time they have left.
Desperate and starving, armed with aging, faulting equipment, the team jumps at the chance for a risky resupply mission, even if it means not all of them might come. What they discover could change the course of the war.

More About Blood of Empire
As the final battle approaches a sellsword, a spy, and a general must find unlikely and dangerous allies in order to turn the tides of war in the last book of Brian McClellan's epic fantasy trilogy of magic and gunpowder.
The Dynize have unlocked the Landfall Godstone, and Michel Bravis is tasked with returning to Greenfire Depths to do whatever he can to prevent them from using its power; from sewing dissension among the enemy ranks to rallying the Palo population.
Ben Styke's invasion of Dynize is curtailed when a storm scatters his fleet. Coming ashore with just twenty lancers, he is forced to rely on brains rather than brawn - gaining new allies in a strange land on the cusp of its own internal violence.
Bereft of her sorcery and physically and emotionally broken, Lady Vlora Flint now marches on Landfall at the head of an Adran army seeking vengeance against those who have conspired against her. While allied politicians seek to undo her from within, she faces insurmountable odds and Dynize's greatest general.
