Unexpected Tour Off / Oh Canada

If you’re worried about Canada – all I can say is it’s going to get bumpy, but I know it’s going to be okay.  I know Who has us. I’ll leave it at that; just keep loving each other, even if you don’t agree with them. I’m crying watching live footage of the police going after peaceful protestors.

On Sunday I twisted my ankle. I didn’t think it was that bad, but I cut my workout short and decided to rest it. Let’s just say I can walk on it and I’ve definitely blown it worse, but I...

Freedom Convoy 2022 and… vacation update/goals

Of course I support the convoy. I shouldn’t have to be working my shift, picking up an extra shift or two (at 12 hrs a pop) to keep ambulances running, and rallying to defend the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and protesting the Nuremberg Code.

This is actually the second one; a group left from Alberta in the fall and was there for weeks. It’s non-violent protests, and while I don’t doubt some people who are violently inclined will try to attach themselves, I suspect more spin and bu...

Fall From Grace (Trope)

So I haven’t blogged much about Witchslayer’s Scion, so I thought I’d do something different: Talking about tropes. Although it’s the latest of my titles through Champagne Books, it’s an earlier novel that I had sitting on my hard drive. It’s a spin-off of a series I developed waaay back in high school, and now that I’m a better writer I hope to fix the main series. In Witchslayer’s Scion, there’s only a handful of hints we’re in future north America, most of it reads like a sword and sorcery. T...

2021 Year End Wind Up

Well, so far the 20’s have been… interesting. Yes, I know there’s no year 0.

Fitness: My goal was to do a pull up.

Lame Duck: Shoulder’s a little off so I haven’t been weight training in a few weeks. My parents gave me their bowflex when they moved, and I’m noticing a huge difference in my grip strength. A pull up? Not risking my shoulder right now. I remember a few years ago I recovered from plantar fasciitis and then immediately tried jumping rope and bringing it right back, so not t...

Thoughts on Wheel of Time Season 1

So I’m just as surprised as you are to have watched the show; I’m currently listening to the Audiobook version of Knife of Dreams, and I’ll be honest this is not my most favorite series, but I see why it has the following it has. If I were to surmise the premise, author Jordan takes the idea of Wheel of Time where these things have all happened, and will happen again, and this interpretation takes us to a vaguely Tolkien-like World, at least superficially, where the chosen one must defeat the da...

Merry Christmas!

I’m off to work soon, so this is just a quick post. I’ll do a year end update probably on my block of days off or even early January.

I know it’s been a challenging year for just about everyone, and I know many of you can’t get together like we used to. The last two years have put into perspective all the things I used to take for granted. Somehow, personally it’s cultivated more gratitude.

I hope you have a blessed week and are able to celebrate with people you care about. If you cele...

Wheel of Time (Not the Show), Writing

My mental health’s taken a heavy hit for the past few months. I think if you’re paying attention to what’s going on in the world, it’s hard not to feel something ain’t right. I wish there was more I can do. I’ve been on the front lines and I don’t feel like a hero so much as someone watching The Enemy slowly advance on the gate, and no one wants to hear about it. I’m a Christian, and I know that God has us. What’s frustrating is that people are so divided, and seeing what I have for the past yea...

I Self-Published. But mostly about the state of the world

I had an unexpected block of holidays off in August. I was going to blog about how excited I was, mostly because I self published this:

I finished edits in the spring and then I let my sister and aunt have a go at it. If you’ve been following along at all on Facebook, you’ll know I had print copies and the newer version of the covers will not have those pretty inserts in the corners (It’s a formatting issue) so you can find them online or hit me up at a show or whatever.

Not that ...

Back at Work

This is just a quick update based on what I proposed my goals were on the previous post, vs. How Much I actually got Done

If you’ve been paying attention to FB you know I have been kayaking/floating on a tube in the Pinawa Channel, but let’s just say while I’ve been working, I haven’t been that accomplished. The good news, is that I am watching my sister’s dogs while her family is off, so I will not be philandering too far this coming week.

Let’s compare How Much I Planned vs. How Much...
