She assessed the bump in his nose, the way his biceps bulged from the sleeves of his T-shirt, his air of absolute assurance. You have some nerve, you really do. I’ve never even met you before, and you’re trying to tell me who to sleep with.” He stopped dead. She kept her hand on his arm because it felt so good. His tendons tightened under her touch, and she saw his jaw flex. A quick flick of his wrist, and suddenly she was pressed against him, chest to chest, thighs to thighs. Sensation poured through her; it felt like standing next to a volcano. “I’m not telling you who to sleep with. I’m telling you who not to sleep with.”“Oh, really?” she snapped, furious. “Who should I notsleep with?” “Anyone but me.”

1. Where did the idea come from for the book?This book was inspired by two movies – It’s a Wonderful Life (okay, you might have guessed that one) and Ladder 49. Ladder 49 doesn’t end well – it’s about a fireman trapped in a building, reliving key moments of his life. But my version, of course, has a very happy ending. As a romance author, I wouldn’t write anything else! 2. What genre does your book fall under?It’s a Wonderful Fireman is a contemporary romance, fun, sexy and emotional.
3. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?For the hero, Dean Mulligan, I’ll go with Taylor Kinney from Chicago Fire. For Lizzie, the love of his life, Amy Adams would be amazing.
4. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?When a firefighter is trapped inside a collapsed holiday store, it’ll take a Christmas angel, the love of his life, and a holiday classic to save him. 5. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?This book is published by Avon Impulse. 6. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?I write my first drafts fairly quickly, so I’d say it took a couple of weeks. But I always go through several drafts so ultimately it probably took maybe five or six weeks until it was polished enough to send to my editor. 7. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?This is a Christmas novella, so anything with a holiday theme. (And that’s a long list of books!) In general, I’d say that if you like Jill Shalvis or Rachel Gibson, you might like this book, and the Bachelor Firemen series in general. 8. Who or What inspired you to write this book?I can honestly say that this book was inspired by the readers of the Bachelor Firemen series. When it came time to wrap the series up, I wanted to do something special, sort of a Christmas present to those who have followed and loved the series. This book has a life-and-death situation, it has a romance, it’s complete in and of itself – but it also has cameo appearances by every hero of all the previous fireman books. I wanted to give readers one last moment with the guys. 9. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?Readers will not only get a fireman romance, they will also meet the hero of my upcoming series, which is about a baseball team. My next series is called Love Between the Bases, and it’s about the Kilby Catfish, a Triple A team from Texas. The first book, ALL OF ME, will be out on May 26 of 2015, but you can meet the hero, Caleb Hart, in IT’S A WONDERFUL FIREMAN. Not only that, the first chapter of ALL OF ME is included at the end. A little bonus for my awesome readers!

He stopped me at the bottom of Bascom Hill and explained how it was a popular place for sledding in winter; I laughed at the idea of dining hall trays being used as makeshift sleds. “Just wait and see.” He replied, smirking, and we continued to stroll.
Sam stopped me again a few blocks later, and pointed toward a building just off University Avenue. “This is the Chazen Museum of Art, one of my favorite places on campus.” He tugged out his phone and checked the time. “It won't open for a while yet but I'd like to show it to you.”

It’s the holidays! Let’s celebrate with a delicious recipe. When you cook Caponata, your house will be filled with a wonderful onion, garlic, bacon aroma that will set off your salivary glands and have your family running for the dinner table. Can’t find perciatelli pasta? You can substitute fusilli, linguini, or plain spaghetti. Enjoy!
Carbonara
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 onions, chopped into 1/4 inch cubes
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 pound bacon slices, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 pound perciatelli pasta
1 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
3 egg yolks, beaten
Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Add onions and garlic and sauté over medium heat until translucent, about eight minutes. Add bacon and cook until bacon is to desired crispness. Whisk in the heavy cream until fully incorporated. This is your sauce. Keep warm. Meanwhile, cook pasta in a pot of boiling, salted water. Cook to al dente (as per package directions). Drain pasta well and return hot pasta to pot. Add Parmesan to pasta and toss to coat. Add the egg yolks slowly, tossing the hot pasta so that all strands are coated. Place pasta onto a large platter and spoon cream sauce over top.
Serve with a green salad and fresh bread for sopping up all that creamy, rich deliciousness!

He nods. “So tell me, did you look in the closet?”
The reminder of the seashells brings a smile to my face. I lean back against the doorframe and stretch my legs out in front of me, relaxing. “Who said you aren’t romantic?” I ask. Reaching into the box, I pick up one of the shells and hold it up for him to see. “You even went so far as to add little adjectives on them,” I croon. “You really think all these things about me?”
“That and so much more,” he says.
I stare at him on my screen and see the adoration he has for me. It shows in his eyes, in his smile, in everything he does for me, and I know deep down I am the luckiest woman in the world.
“How was your nig…” My words are cut off when a loud explosion sounds through the speaker of my phone.
Fear paralyzes me.
“Babe, I have to go,” Riley rushes, his attention no longer on me but on what’s happening over there. He turns back to the camera, his eyes wide, and I see the dread taking hold of him. “I love you, Kelsey. Always remember that,” he says before another loud bang sounds out and the call disconnects.
The phone slips from my hand but in my numbness, I don’t recognize it. My heart beating faster than a herd on the move drowns out any noises around me. The sound of blood rushing through my body pounds in my ears, and all I can think about is I didn’t get to tell him I love him back. How will he know? Oh. My. God. What just happened? Is he okay? Is he alive? I’m pulled from my depressing thoughts by an incessant ringing sound until I recognize it’s my phone. Detached from everything, I reach for it only for it to stop and start ringing all over again.
My eyes close for a second at the name on the screen and all I can do is pray it’s not as bad as what my mind is conjuring up right now.
“Hello?” I whisper.
“They’ve been attacked and it’s not good,” are the last words I hear before a world of darkness swallows my vision and takes me under.

In the amount of time it took me to get that out of my mouth Kyle had me pinned to the bed and was kissing me. He kissed my lips, then he nibbled on my ears and slid his tongue down my neck to my breasts. He was moving in slow motion and although it felt amazing I was getting impatient. Kyle loved to tease me and actually got a high off it.
Normally I can detain myself knowing the outcome was going to far outweigh the frustration, but tonight I didn’t know if I was going to be able to. I pulled at his underwear and he backed up so I couldn’t reach him.

He lifted his head and smiled as if he was just as satisfied as I was.

"Hell yes, but we aren’t done. I want you in me now!"
I got on my hands and knees and he got behind me. He guided himself in my opening and started to take me to heaven once again. He filled me completely as he began entering and exiting making sure to hit the spot he knew I loved. I couldn't get enough of him. It was as if every time he entered me he was erasing the hurt that we had been through. Kyle and I making love was making it all better.

Do you remember as a child, hoping and praying, wishing with all your might, that on Christmas morning that one present was under the tree? The one present you bugged your parents constantly for months about? The one present you obsessed over? Then, you found yourself standing in front of the tree, the one that loomed over you like a mountain, looking in vain for that one box, wrapped in pretty paper, with your name on it?
I do.
For me, it wasn't a Barbie, a board game or even an easy-bake oven. A few months before my tenth Christmas, my mother had taken me to an old second-hand store. Tucked into a corner was a book shelf. It was on that shelf that I saw it for the first time; The Black Stallion. I begged, pleaded and made promises with my mother if she would buy me that one book. Unfortunately, my mother, who survived on a welfare check, didn't even have the 35 cents to buy it for me. I was so angry that I didn't speak to her for a solid day. Of course, being a child I got over it fast, but I continued to obsess about the words that I knew were written on those pages.
Christmas morning, still believing in Santa Claus, I raced to the tree, searching for a small gift from him. There it was, a small present with green wrapping and a red bow taped to it. My thrill was quickly squashed when I tore the paper off the book and found a copy of Little Women. My disappointment quickly turned to joy as I sat down and began reading about the March sisters.
My mother, as I learned years later, wanted me to be challenged, to push myself against convention, and she believed that Little Women was the book to do it. I have since read The Black Stallion, but its love has been lost to me now. My mother had given me a present I never knew I wanted, and could never be replaced.
This Christmas, I ask you, a reader and lover of books, to give your children, your nieces and nephews, your grandchildren or even your friends' children, a gift they don't even realize they want. The love for the written word can be a powerful tool to shaping who these children will be.
I ask you to support these selfless authors whose love for children comes before fame or fortune. They write because of the joy they can bring to a child's world. By day I work in Marketing, which involves a fair amount of writing. Therefore, I never really had an interest to write for pleasure. When you do it all day, the last thing you want to do when you get home, is more writing. All the while, as my career progressed, so did my involvement in the BDSM lifestyle.
This interest in kinky sex started in my University years. Like most men, I loved meeting women, and especially the occasional one who didn't mind being tied up, or blindfolded, or spanked. All sex was great, but kinky sex was more exciting, more exhilarating, and more fulfilling.
Over the years I was lucky enough to meet my fair share of submissive women. And don't for a minute think these women were weak. Outside the bedroom they were confident, opinionated, gregarious and self-assured. However, inside the bedroom (so to speak) they wanted to feel the strong firm hand of a dominant man taking complete control.
Eventually I found the perfect partner, and am happily in a relationship.One day, I flipped my laptop open, and to my surprise - I had an urge to write a BDSM story. Soon I had 20 pages, then 40, then 60. The novel that resulted was 'Testing the Submissive'. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and the reviews excellent - all of which motivated me to continue writing. 1. Are you famous is the general question I get when family and friends introduces me to their friends. It always left me with a pause as quick comebacks filters through my mind but ending up saying something like ….”Oh gee thanks” and give a shy smile, silly I know but the idea unsettles me. (a)Does this happen to you and (b) what do you say? I don’t ever remember being asked if I’m famous. I’m always floored and delighted when people know who I am and what I do. 2. In general do you like to talk about you writing and published books or are you very close-lip about it? If no why? I’m not a very good self-promoter. I like to discuss the stories and answer questions readers have. I enjoy discussing the craft of writing with other authors.3. What book/s are you currently writing and what is it about? I’m pretty closed lip about my next project, especially early on. So many things can change. 4. Why this particular genre? I enjoy reading all genres, but NA/Contemporary is the one I read the most. I also feel there is a wide variety of topics you can cover in this genre.5. What inspire or motivate you to write? I’ve always loved creating/writing scenes or rewriting scenes from TV shows or movies the way I wanted to see them play out. My inspiration, I want to tell unique stories about subjects that aren’t always touched on. There has to be a purpose to my stories.6. What is the writing process like for you? Once I get the main idea of the story I start working on scenes. I usually do a rough outline to guild me from point A to point B. I don’t always follow the outline completely but it’s a start. I listen to lots of music and visualize scenes and dialogue. Once I get to the computer I try to just get the scene out and then go back an edit and tweak. I have to force myself not to edit while I’m working on the first draft of the story. One day while writing Presently Perfect, I spent 45 minutes on one sentence before I got it right.7. How did/do you teach yourself to write? I had a good educational foundation and then minored in English in college. I majored in theater and wrote several one act plays. Also, taking refresher courses. Also, from my first book to my 3rd, I learned a lot from my editor and agent. There is always room for improvement no matter how long you’ve been at this.
8. What aspect of the craft do you think is most difficult to learn? Telling a story that draws the reader in and makes them feel all the emotions. You can teach a person how to write a well crafted sentence, but I’m not sure you can teach a person how to tell a story. Hope that makes sense. 9. What has been the most encouraging comment someone has made about your writing? I’ve had so much support from readers. I love when a reader tells me they’ve read my books more than once and still feel the emotion. I get a kick out of a bad review, when the reviewer still says they are a fan of my writing style. 10. What is the best and/ or worst part of being a writer? Best part of writing is when my stories touch a reader’s heart and mind. The worst part of being a writer for me is probably the marketing aspect. 11. Any advice for struggling writers? Keep writing and learning the craft. Also, stay true to who you are and what you want your stories to be about. Don’t latch on to the latest trend or fad, those disappear as soon as they appear. Know if you want it to be a career, it will take time to build a solid readership. Respect yourself, readers, other authors, and colleagues in the industry. Be professional.12. What is your favorite genre to read or write? I like different genres, as long as the story is well written. 13. Favorite author? I have a handful of different authors I like to read on a regular basis and the list grows.14. Do you have a favorite spot to read and write? Favorite spot to read is in my overstuffed chair in my family room. Favorite spot to write would be in my office.15. What did you do before you became a writer? I worked as a stage manager in regional theater, then a medical transcriptionist, and right before becoming an author I managed the custom cake business I owned with my husband.16. Was it a life long dream or triggered recently? I always loved to write but never thought of making it a career until about 2 years ago.17. What do you like to do when not writing? I like to listen to music, watch TV and movies, spend time with my friends, family, and 2 dogs, and read. 18. Do you have a bucket/ to-do list and would you share at least two things on it? I don’t really have a bucket list. I’d love to go to England, Scotland, and Venice some day. 19. Most daring thing or experience you have done you would like to share? I published a book. J20. I was standing one step below Tweet when she broke free from Brad, twisting her body in my direction. I let go of her other wrist and caught her as she fell toward me. Her arms wrapped around my neck as I grabbed hold of her hips, trying to keep her steady.Tweet’s head tilted back as she clung to me. “Look, Brad! It’s Noah! My Noah!” Her voice was ear-splittingly high. “He’s so sweet and sexy. He’s swexy.
