Coletrane by Rie Warren. Series finale from the summer MC hit!

Blurb:
Coletrane:Her name is Sinclair Chatham. Sin. That’s exactly what she is—walking, talking, in the flesh sin. She’s haughty, privileged, so goddamn starlet sexy, with an ass I want to grab and spank raw.
I want her to give herself over to me. I want her to lose that polished princess veneer. I want to strip away the money, the manicures, the maids, the immaculate façade.
I need her to be mine. But I’m a grunt. A biker. A tattoo artist. I’m blue collar all the way, and her family will probably shit bricks if they ever meet me.
Not to mention, I’m running from a bad past that’s about to catch up with me.
Sinclair:I would never go for Cole in a million years. He’s gruff, rough around the edges—and covered in ink. He’s unapologetic, demanding, and sometimes scary as hell. He tells me what he wants, how he wants it, and why he’s going to ruin me for all other men.
Coletrane destroys my vanity, gets inside my head while he gets into my bed, and I can’t say no to him. He’s not what I expected—tender at times, taking no prisoners at others. He breaks me down, builds me up.
He is not my type.
They say opposites attract, and they’re right. I just didn’t expect him to turn my cushy life upside down and inside out. But it’s too late, and someone’s going to get hurt.
Warning: Graphic sex, graphic action, graphic language. Triple X caution.

EXCERPT:

I got out and loped around to Sin’s side. I liked the way she waited for me to open the door and help her out—she was a woman who knew she was quality. With a flash of those long bare legs, she slid up against me. Her body felt incredible, curves in all the right places the perfect counterpoint to the hard muscles of mine. Brushing the hair back from her temples, my fingers lingered at her neck where her pulse drummed against my skin. I leaned down and tasted her lips, quickly delving into her mouth before retreating with a smile. “I hope you’re ready for this, precious, because I’m gonna eat you up.”“Out here?” Her pale green eyes twinkled. I pulled her away from the car and guided her up the steps that created an open breezeway in the apartment building. My place was at the top and overlooked a tennis court. “You play?” she asked. I unlocked my door and ushered her inside. “Hardly.”Flicking the light switch, the tidy, tiny living room shifted into brightness, and just then a calico fur ball darted into the kitchen with screeching yeowl. “What was that?” Sin pointed after the fleeing feline. “I dunno. I think it’s a cat.” I rubbed a hand over my chin. “Could be a cross between a porcupine and an overgrown chipmunk? I call it Pincushion.”As she giggled I waved vaguely around the four-room place. “So this is it. It’s not luxurious but—”“It’s so clean.” She left my side to walk around the living room, her fingers occasionally coasting along the coffee table and the sound system set-up.“Right? And I don’t even have a maid.” Lounging against the doorway opposite her, I winked. “Shut up.” She rolled her eyes.In just five long steps, I caged her against the wall. “Oh, I don’t think you want me to do that.” I twisted her head up and crashed my lips to hers. My tongue lunged into her mouth, stroking hers. Brutal. Hard. Wet. I swallowed the whimper that escaped the back of her throat, and her hands flew to my ass to pull me all the way against her. With a grunt, I tore my lips free, licking them to taste more of her. A sneer of lust crossed my face, and my voice came out in a low deep rumble. “The things I’m gonna say to you tonight will make you so hot you’ll be begging me to fuck you harder, faster.” I nipped and licked the neck she arched for my tongue and teeth.“Cole!” she gasped.“Make your body ache for my cock.” I pressed my hips against her just once so she’d know what she was getting. Then I stepped back, watching her as she panted. Her hair disheveled. Her tits jutting. Her eyes heavy. “But we gotta talk about how this is gonna go down first,” I said. “We do?” She slowly regained her composure. “This about the control thing again?”“Mm hmm.” I dropped onto the couch and patted the cushion beside me. She approached slowly and perched next to me. “I want to push you to the limit. Find out what your limits are.”“Is this about the power struggle,” she asked. “Does that get you off?”“Not as much as you completely giving yourself over to me would.”She hissed a sharp breath, her back arching unintentionally.Damn. She might not like giving away control, but her body sure seemed interested in the idea. Her voice a little shaky, she asked, “So is this a BDSM thing?”I laughed, a long low sound. “Why, precious? Are you into the scene?”“Of course not,” she snapped. “Nothing wrong with that, you know?”She narrowed her eyes on me. “I didn’t mean to imply that there was. Just—”“You’re a good girl?”Biting her lip, she gave a hesitant nod. She had no idea how hot she made me, just that little shot of insecurity in an otherwise totally impressive babe. I scooted closer, dragging my fingers up her bare arm to the soft skin of her shoulder. “Wanna be my good girl?”Again with the hesitant nod. Jesus.I withdrew my hand before I could be tempted to run it all over her smokin’ body. “It’s not a BDSM thing with me. I don’t call it that. Don’t call it anything. It’s just how I like to fuck.”She made a small noise, and her thighs parted just a little bit. She was so ripe for this, right for me.My voice lowered. “I don’t want to be your Dom or your Master or your Daddy. It’s not about pain. It’s about letting go. Finding out what gives you pleasure, and sometimes that’s not always orthodox.”Her breath stuttered in an out as she shifted her gaze to me, her eyes sweeping over my face, my shoulders, my chest. “Do you ever just have sex?”“Vanilla sex?”Sin nodded, her cheeks turning a delicious shade of pink.“I like all kinds of sex. Kinky. Straightforward fucking. Fast. Hard.” I turned toward her and kissed her lips between each subsequent word. “Long.” Kiss.“Slow.” A lingering touch of my tongue on hers. “ . . . anal.”Her body snapped against mine, and her lips opened, her tongue rolling into my mouth. After the soul scorching kiss that set my balls on edge, I eased my lips to her ear. “But if I’m really into a woman—and I’m really into you”—goddamn understatement—“I need to know it’s okay if I fuck you the way I want to.”I leaned back. “So what do you say, Sin. Are you in?”
“I’m in.”

Interview with author Christine Edwards: Savannah Past Midnight.

Author’s Interview Questions-Savannah Past Midnight Tour      1.       Where did the idea come from for the book? Since childhood I have regularly frequented the mysterious coastal city of Savannah, Georgia. Last year I began to conceptualize a book with Savannah as its alluring backdrop.     2.       What genre does your book fall under?Paranormal Erotic Romance     3.       Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?Excellent question. Tom Hardy would make an outstanding Colton and possibly either Megan Fox or Nina Dobrev as Cosette.
4.       What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?“He’s a lover and a fighter, and he just might have what it takes to satisfy her hunger.”5.       Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? All of my books are represented by the Seattle based publisher Fanny Press.6.       How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?Five months.7.       What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? N/A I’m really not certain.8.       Who or What inspired you to write this book?I’ve always longed to write a book with a fighter as the hero but I knew that the heroine had to be equally as fierce in her own right. Savannah definitely has a unique edginess about it that lines up perfectly with the theme of vampires vying for control of a coastal city. Savannah Past Midnight was written for my brother, Matthew, so I continually had him in mind during the entire process.
9.       What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? The book is quite geographic in nature, within this book the readers are transported to: Savannah, Charleston, Montana and Spain. Also, the book has mild BDSM elements to it.
10.   In general do you like to talk about your writing and published books or are you very close-lip about it? If no why?I’m quite shy by nature, therefore I rarely discuss my work, however, if someone is curious I’m happy to chat.11.   What book/s are you currently writing and what is it about?I am currently working on ‘NORDIC BOUND’ which is book number three in the ‘Nordic Lights’ series. It is an MC themed series that is set in Norway. The book will revolve around a very firm dominant named Aksel and a fiery, unique heroine named Ingvild. Along with being a scorching, BDSM romance, the book will also have strong aspects of danger running through it.12.   What is the writing process like for you?I find that (fortunately) it is very fluid. Nearly always I’ll sit down, get into gear, and in the blink of an eye four to five hours have completely disappeared.

13.   How did/do you teach yourself to write?I have always had a strong love of literature, particularly the Russians such as Tolstoy and Pushkin, so being a prolific reader certainly helps out when you’re beginning the journey. Also, I started small, writing two novellas, just to see if I could do it.  With each book I’ll catch things that I need to re-work and/or avoid. It’s an ongoing, evolving process for sure.
14.   What aspect of the craft do you think is the most difficult to learn? For me, it is the use of repetitive words or phrases along with far too many adjectives! My wonderful editor always keeps me in check!
15.   What has been the most encouraging comment someone has made about your writing? When a reader leaves a review regarding how they really felt that they were dropped into the setting and could really ‘feel’ that they were in that particular foreign country, such as Croatia or Norway, that is very rewarding. Also, when they mention how ‘emotional’ the read was for them. That also really makes me glow inside.
16.   What is the best and/ or worst part of being a writer? For me the best part is crafting a new tale, bringing forth a new romance involving strong, seemingly unyielding characters. There is such an intricate, delicate balance to relationships, each being unlike any other. It’s that give and take that deeply draws me into the process. The hardest part is a tie between finding the time to write and also I seem to struggle with coming to the realization that it is actually finished. If given the chance, I could edit a manuscript for a year straight, always honing and refining.
17.     Any advice for struggling writers? Only write something that is absolutely clawing to get out of you. That way the drive will always be there after you begin.
18.   What is your favorite genre to read or write? Erotica for writing and nearly every other genre for reading.19.   Favorite author?JR Ward
20.   Do you have a favorite spot to read and write? Yes, it’s a small library located on the lower level of my home. I sit in a cozy leather chair by a window with my white leather Yamaha headphones blasting Florence & The Machine Radio.
21.   What did you do before you became a writer? For several years I was the director of a contemporary art gallery in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
22.   Was it a life long dream or triggered recently?A lifelong dream, most definitely.
23.   What do you like to do when not writing?I love both the sea along with the mountains. When I’m not writing I’m happiest gliding down a steep slope or boating.  24.   Do you have a bucket/ to-do list and would you share at least two things on it?I would love to see a Formula One race in Monaco and also spend time in Venice, Italy during Carnival.
25.   Most daring thing or experience you have done you would like to share?I love tackling black diamond slopes which is a pretty heavy adrenaline rush. In parts of Germany and Austria there are few markers compared to the states, so you really have to keep your wits about you or you can fly off an edge.26.   This or that questions: ·        Coffee or Tea – Tea, black. Harney & Sons, ‘Paris.’·        Sweet or savory – Sweet.·        Home make meal or takeouts – An equal combination. ·        Winter or summer –  Summer, I love flowers and dresses!·        Night-owl or Early-Bird – Night owl, hoot, hoot!·        Telephone or visits – In person visits. I loathe the phone and never stay on it longer than two minutes. ·        Which social network do you prefer? Twitter because of the fast pace.·        Blogger or website? Website. ·        What does your family say about your career? Supportive or Clueless. 100% supportive.
And FinallyMoto/wisdom in life you live by. “Project positivity and drive yourself hard in all aspects of your life.”Thank you for the very engaging interview. It was both a pleasure and a lot of fun. About the author: Savannah Past Midnight is her seventh novel and the second book in the Past Midnight series. Within the vein of BDSM romance, her main focus is on loving, multi-faceted relationships involving intense alpha males and feisty heroines. She adores snow skiing, traveling the world, and spending time with her amazing family. Christine resides in the deep south.

It’s been ten days too long staying in this empty town, but I don’t have much of a choice. I had to get my shit together before I up and left. I think if I would have driven out of town right after the funeral, they’d have called the cops on me. I have to act normal, pretend I’m okay, to convince them I’ve moved on.My black bag sits in the middle of the empty room, regurgitating piles of dark clothing. It’s the only bag I’ve allowed myself to pack. Secretly, I’ve been emptying the house. My parents know it’s on the market, I’ve left it up to them to finish the sale and deal with it. It’s about the only thing they’ve ever been supportive of—my leaving for good. After the funeral, everyone refused to leave me at home alone. Despite the fact that this is my home, the one place that still has signs of Nat in it, they infiltrated it with their presence and hovered.Today’s the first day I’ve woken up alone. Oddly enough it’s also the last day I’ll be here. I get up off the bed I used to share with Nat and shove the clothes into my bag and zip it up. This little duffle bag is going to be my one possession until I get wherever I’m heading.I still haven’t figured that out. The downstairs kitchen smells like burnt chicken and lemon-scented candles. Nathalie had been making dinner before she came to pick me up. I refuse to remove the food or change anything in the house. The movers or my parents can do it. I don’t need to.On the kitchen counter sits a brown paper bag that the hospital gave me. Well, they didn’t give it to me. I hadn’t been allowed to leave my room yet, the night it all went to shit. They wanted to make sure that I didn’t have bleeding on my brain so they were forcing me to spend the night.Even after my rehab stint, I’d never felt so helpless, so confined. Petey and Sarah refused to leave my side despite the fact that I kept lashing out at them. I had just fixed my relationship with Petey after our falling out from high school. He was able to move past the tragedy with his sister, Sarah and let me back in his life. Sarah always forgave me for the accident, but things were looking up. All my relationships were moving in a positive manner. I remember in the hospital telling Petey what a terrible person he was, and jabbing Sarah with my words of how she’d be settling with her fiancé.Like me pushing them away would make things better. I hate that I felt the need to assault them with my words. I hate that I made the already tragic situation worse. But at that moment, I was in shock and hated everything around me, mostly myself. But it kept getting worse and worse. Her parents showed up in about an hour flat. I wasn’t allowed to leave my room, but I recognized her mom’s voice from what I had heard through the phone numerous times. The second I heard it, I almost thought it was Nat; my brain playing tricks on me, teasing me, torturing me. I’d never hear Nat’s voice again. The orderly’s packed Nat’s belongings in a small Ziploc bag. I pick it up off the ground, knowing there’s only one small item inside. I won’t part ways with it. The last chip of my soul refuses to let it go. I shove it into the side compartment of my bag and zip it up tight, double checking to make sure there’s no way it could fall out. After deciding to leave the East Coast and place as much mileage between me, and my friends, and family, as possible, I knew I couldn't ditch the truck. Despite needing the fucking thing gone from my life forever, I can’t afford to get a new car and have enough left over from what I’ve saved to live off of.But first chance I get, it’s gone. It smells like her. Sugar and flowers.I’ve been meeting with Karen every day since the night Nat was stolen from me. I’m not supposed to call it anything other than an accident, but in my eyes, it could have been prevented. This was no accident. This was a life-changing moment that will forever affect me.I pull my truck into the office parking lot and cut the ignition. Karen doesn’t work in town—I met her while in rehab two hours away—but she’s been using one of her colleague’s offices to meet with me. She said it was important that I had support. She’d met my parents numerous times and deemed them not responsible to care for me. I can’t blame her. I’d been in recovery twice and both times, they weren’t around. There’s always this nagging pulling in my stomach before I meet with Karen. I know it’s nerves like she’s going to uncover a deeply-rooted, hidden secret I’m not ready to hear. Not that I think I have secrets because I don’t. I’m a recovering drug addict who’s followed by a curse where I hurt those I love. That’s pretty much the bottom line, although if I said any of that out loud, Karen would scold me for days. Maybe I will say it today since it’s my last day to meet with her before I leave.I don’t bother knocking or ringing the bell. Ten days of the same thing over and over, I’ve become used to the routine. I walk past the staircase and knock on the door of the office. Karen yells for me to come in, so I do.“Hi, Sam!” She smiles at me, flashing her teeth as she stands behind the desk and reaches over. I take her hand and shake it. She picks up her green-rimmed glasses and crumbled note pad and walks around the desk. She sits in an identical chair to mine beside me.“How are you?” I ask her, crossing my arms over my chest.“Fine, how are you today?”“I’m good.”“Is that because you’re leaving or because you genuinely feel good?” She narrows her eyes. That’s the problem with meeting someone frequently and having them know you; you can’t trick them.I shrug in response.“Instead of talking about you today, I wanted to leave you with some knowledge to help you in the future. I know hashing out your insecurities is good, and I love seeing you have a break through. But since you’re leaving, I’m worried you won’t understand the feelings you are going to experience. So, I’ll give you some information to help along the steps today. Sound good?” She flips the page of her notebook, making a crinkling sound as it flies over.“Whatever you want to do,” I tell her, because honestly, I couldn’t care less. An hour or two more and I’ll be out of here. And an hour or two more after that, and I’ll be free from all of this pressure to be okay.“I know we touched on the stages of grief before and I had you guess where you were, so I want to start there. Have you given it anymore thought?”“Yeah, I still think it’s stupid. That chart, those seven feelings don’t really define what I’m feeling. I’ve accepted that she’s gone, but that doesn’t mean I’m over it. I’m not in shock…I know she’s gone. I feel her absence on a daily basis. So, I don’t fucking know where I am.”“The stages are just a guideline, Sam. I’ve told you this.”“I know…and it still doesn’t make it any easier.”“Well, I want to go over them again so you relate to what you’re feeling. I agree that you’re not in the first stage anymore. The first stage you experienced in the hospital. You refused to see people, wouldn’t admit she was gone.” I squeeze my fist so tight my knuckles bloom white. Don’t remember her, I chant to myself, stop thinking of the hospital. No more memories today.“The second stage is pain, sometimes guilt. Your life is going to be chaotic, a little crazy. You’ll feel guilty, kind of like your curse belief. But it hurts, a lot. The third stage is bargaining. Here is when you’re going to ask questions like, ‘Why me? Why her?’. You’ll probably lash out at people, get frustrated. If you begin to feel this way, try to tamp it down, find something that will calm you down. You don’t want to push away those around you.“Let’s see…” She flips another page in her notebook and shoves the end of the pen in her mouth, chewing the plastic part. “The next is depression. With your added history of substance abuse, this is definitely a pronounced concern. It is not a question of if you will experience depression from this life-changing event, it’s a question of when. And honestly, Sam, you will need to seek help. Wherever you end up, find a therapist, give them my number, and have them call me. Depression is a legitimate disease and you, nobody, should have to live through the loneliness, despair, emptiness, and unworthiness alone. You understand? You find someone to help you.” I nod. “Say it.”“I understand. I’ll get help.”“Swear it to me. When you end up where you think you’ll stay, if you feel the signs of depression, you’ll talk to someone. Please, Sam. You know I care about you. I would hate to see you in the condition we met in. Okay?”“Okay, Karen.” I widen my eyes at her pushiness. “I get it. I can’t do it alone.”“It’s not that you can’t, Sam. You shouldn’t have to. You deserve better.” She shakes her head, blinking away tears. “Okay, after that…you’ll hit the upward spiral. You’ll start feeling just a little better every day. Then you’ll start to reconstruct your life, fix things, change things, and move forward. The last stage is acceptance. It’s pretty self-explanatory. But once you’re here, you’ll see hope in the future, understanding, and crave the normal.”“And what? Nathalie’ll just be a distant memory?”“Of course not. You’re stages of grief have nothing to do with her memory. And just because you accept that she’s gone doesn’t mean you forget her. In fact, I urge you to remember her, remember the good things. In a healthy way of course.”“Of course.” I nod, mocking her.“I also want to mention something. The chances of you relapsing at a time like this are astronomical. I think the rates are at about fifty percent during times of stress and within the first year of sobriety. However, I need to explain what will happen if you were to relapse and go back to cocaine.“Because your body has no cocaine systemically any longer, your chances of dying during a relapse skyrocket. I’m sure you were used to injesting large amounts at a time. If you were to take what you were taking at your peak using time, you’d most likely die, right?”I nod. My heart spikes and my palms sweat. It’s too real. But even talking about it makes me want to try it just to remember the feels. I miss the high. I’ve been low for so long now.“Odds are, someone you will meet uses cocaine. It’s the second most used drug in the country. But you’re a strong man, Sam. I believe you won’t go back to using. And I hope you’ll find what you’re looking for.” Heavy tears slide down her reddened cheeks.“Why are you crying?” I ask her in a voice that can only be described as emotionless. I clear my throat, holding it in.“I’m going to miss you,” she blurts out. “I know you’ve been through hell and back. But I’ve enjoyed getting to know you, Sam. I hope I’ve helped you in even the slightest way possible.” She places her notepad beside her and leans forward. Her arms circle my neck and she tugs me against her. She squeezes and then pushes me back.“You’ve helped me,” I say. “You’ve helped me a lot, Karen.”“You have my number, right? You have everything? Money?”“I don’t need your money, Karen. I have enough to get me across the country and be fine. Don’t worry about me, okay?”“Of course I’ll worry about you!” She slaps my knee. “You’re a great man, Sam. You’ll make someone happy. First, you have to find your own way. And stop worrying about this curse. You aren’t cursed, I swear. You have your new therapist, so call. That’s an order.”“Got it.” My throat swells a little bit, tastes salty. Truth is, I’ll miss Karen. I’ll miss all of them. But this is for the best. I have to separate myself. This is for their own good. Damn, I’m doing this for them!I slam my lips together, blink once to stop my emotions, stand, and leave the office for good. I won’t be coming back here. And I won’t see these people again. Off Kilter: A Buffalo Steampunk Book by Laura Strickland.

Off Kilter: a Buffalo Steampunk AdventureAuthor: Laura StricklandCover designer: Diana CarlileEditor: Nan Swanson

James Kilter has few illusions about himself. Maimed in a boiler accident when young and routinely reviled by those he encounters, he’s no prize for any woman. He’s content working security for a good friend until he sees Catherine Delaney disembark from an airship one May afternoon. Her fragile beauty calls up all his protective instincts. But will she accept a monster as her defender?
Having traded her own safety to save her young sister, Cat Delaney has landed in the hands of a ruthless, wealthy man who intends to use her as a pawn to his avarice. Alone in a strange city, she has nowhere to turn except to the very man hired to keep her from running. Can she trust James, with his ruined face and crusader’s spirit? Dare she give him her heart?

James switched his gaze to the three people who had just disembarked, two men and a woman, and promptly lost all the breath in his body.
They made an unlikely enough trio—one of the men willowy and slender, clad in a splendid suit that screamed wealth, the other broad and squat if also well-dressed. James dismissed both of them almost immediately, for the third of the group gathered all his attention and focused it the way a mirror gathers light.
"That his doxy?" Latham persisted.
She wore one of the new tailored gowns of some thin fabric that fluttered around her slender body in the breeze off the water. Strawberry-blonde hair clustered round her head in a woven crown of curls and even from fifty paces away James could see the delicate perfection of her features. She stood between the two men like a doe trapped by wolves, and something about her demeanor bespoke the fact that she longed to flee. Suddenly James wanted to tear the two men apart with his bare hands, rescue her, change her world. He knew he could do it too; at that moment he could best anyone.
"Nice piece," Latham muttered. "Wouldn't mind the job of guarding that."
And just as abruptly, James wanted to tear Latham apart also, a visceral reaction that flowed from the core of his being outward to his fists.
"Button it," Tate snapped before James could. "That's our client, Mr. Sebastian Boyd—one of the wealthiest men you'll ever meet."
And with him, James amended in his head, the most beautiful woman he'd ever hoped to behold.

Born in Buffalo and raised on the Niagara Frontier, Laura Strickland has been an avid reader and writer since childhood. To her the spunky, tenacious, undefeatable ethnic mix that is Buffalo spells the perfect setting for a little Steampunk, so she created her own Victorian world there. She knows the people of Buffalo are stronger, tougher and smarter than those who haven’t survived the muggy summers and blizzard blasts found on the shores of the mighty Niagara. Tough enough to survive a squad of automatons? Well, just maybe.
