Sometimes, the past isn’t supposed to be forgotten.
Sam is convinced he’s cursed. Everything he touches dies. He leaves his past behind and travels across the country, hoping the distance will save the loved ones he’s left. When his car breaks down, he becomes stranded, finding comfort in a stray dog.
Despite the fact that he refuses to build any relationships, the people of Sterling, Colorado wiggle their way into his heart. His adopted dog, Lucky, shows him he can handle responsibility. His new boss, Lenny, shows him he has purpose. His neighbor, Izzy, shows him he’s capable of love again. But can Sam find happiness after he’s lost it all?
Finding Sam, the sequel to the bestselling novel of addiction and attraction, A Reliant Love, is a tale of redemption, acceptance, and finding yourself.
A college student in her small town in Connecticut, Taylor loves everything having to do with literature. She is an avid reader, a blogger, a writer- obviously, and a reviewer. Her favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, young adult, and romance.
Despite the fact the emotional backstory to Finding Sam is quite heartbreaking, the majority of this story made me smile and filled me with hope for Sam, the main character! After the devastation of losing his fiancee Nathalie in a freak car accident, Sam blames himself. He thinks he is cursed and that everyone around him will be hurt because of it. He is harbouring a lot of guilty feelings. Therefore Sam feels he has no choice but to leave, get as far away from everyone he cares about as he can, to save them. As soon as Nathalie’s funeral is over, Sam ups and leaves, without telling a soul, taking just one bag of belongings with him, Nathalie’s engagement ring and a picture of them together. He just hops in his car and off he goes, without having any real destination or plans in mind. After days of travelling, Sam has a blowout on his tyre, he stops to fix it. He feels something wet on his arm, looks from under the car and there is a dog. Right in the middle of the highway. No one around that she could belong to. Sam can’t leave her there alone so she joins him on his journey. His wheel doesn’t look right so Sam decides to stop at the next garage he see’s to have it checked. Turns out he needs some pretty pricey work done on his car that could take a few weeks. He’s recommended a place to try for a room at the general store of a very small town in Colorado. Trying to find the general store, Sam enters a small bakery to ask where to find it, it’s here that Sam meets Izzy. Immediately Sam thinks she is beautiful, but wow can she talk, she never stops. Izzy shows Sam over to the general store, which just happens to be run by her Grandpa, Lenny. Lenny offers the room to Sam in exchange for him doing some work around the shop. Sam agrees, as along with paying for the car repairs, he cant really afford to pay for some where to stay. Sam still has the dog he came across, who he names Lucky, tagging along with him. He becomes attached to Lucky, she somehow calms him. Sam struggles daily, trying to suppress the urge to score some cocaine, waking up every night after nightmares of Nathalie telling him he killed her, and fighting an attraction to Izzy. It’s obvious Izzy wants Sam, but he feels he is betraying Nathalie and he just cant do that. So he jumps into the list of jobs Lenny gives him to do around the store to keep his mind occupied. The longer Sam stays in the small, very quiet town, he soon discovers that both Izzy and Lenny have their own heartbreaking secrets. Can Sam stick around, forgive himself for his past sins and try to move on? Will he ever be able to forget that he thinks he is cursed? Will Sam allow himself another chance at love or is he destined to be alone forever? After a heart wrenching ending to A Reliant Love, I was curious as to where Taylor would take Finding Sam. I knew this would be another emotional rollercoaster of a book. All the way through I was rooting for Sam. I wanted him to be able to heal and move forward. Sam is so full of self loathing and guilt, and all he is really thinking about underneath is about no more people getting hurt that are around him. You will, without a doubt fall in love with Sam in this story, if you hadn’t already. Izzy has her own secrets but she doesn’t let them bring her down. She is bubbly, out-going and in your face and chatty. Her secrets make her want to live her life, not as a downer who lets her past rule her. I love that the dog, Lucky, actually has a huge role in this story. She’s a healer. She can sense Sam’s different emotions. I loved her! Taylor Lavati is a super talented author, this story is so totally beautifully written. This series as a whole is, in my opinion amazing! Taylor sure knows how to write. Her words don’t make you feel as if you are just reading a book, you are made to feel the emotion in these stories, you are along for the ride, joining the journeys the characters take as if you are right there with them. All I want to do is gush about how amazingly brilliant this series is. The true to life feelings it invokes, the imagery the descriptive writing creates, it all gripped me. Such create writing. Safe to say I am totally fan girling over Taylor Lavati right now! This story needed to be written. After reading it and feeling such intense feelings after A Reliant Love, we needed to read Sam’s story. We needed to see his journey of self discovery, restraint, forgiveness. To put your mind at ease. Get me…… Talking about this book like its real life. That is just what this story brings out in you, I feel. Passionate. This is definitely a story, that I say everyone has to read. Just be prepared for some up and down emotions and keep a box of tissues close by!

You can’t stay. You need to run. If you leave you can’t hurt them any-more. Your friends will be safe. Their lives are better without you. Your toxic. Your dangerous. Your cursed to forever hurt the ones that mean the most to you. Alone is all you can ever be.
This is Sams story. This is Sams voice.
We met Sam in A Reliant Love. An addict who hurt those around him. Leaving his best friends sister in a wheel chair. Losing the love of his life, his fiancé Nathalie to a car accident.
With nothing now keeping him to stay Sam makes the decision to leave, to get as far away as possible from all who love him just so they can be safe and free from the curse that continually haunts Sam.
Sam drives, and drives and drives. His destination? No place in particular, but it needs three things. To be as far away as possible from home, seclusion and water. Three things he must have. He needs to be alone. And the water, he needs the tranquillity of it.
But his journey is stopped short when his truck breaks down in a small town and needs to be fixed. With his plans now on hold and with little money Sam needs a place to stay just until he can get on the road again.
But destiny has other ideas for Sam. The small town his now stuck in has other plans for Sam. A dog, Lucky has other plans for Sam. And two people, Lenny and Izzy have plans for Sam.
Sam just doesn’t know it yet.
Taylor Lavati has yet again produced another brilliant read. Again we laughed, we cried, we held our breath. We were taken on Sam’s journey. A journey of heart-ache and pain, a journey of self discovery, a journey of forgiveness, a journey of hope, a journey of love.
We were yet again drawn to every page turned, never once putting it down until we were finished. The depth and descriptive detail was executed so beautifully that we could feel Sam and his struggles, his pain, his hope, his love.
An absolute MUST read that should not be missed.
Again we cannot thank Taylor Lavati enough for giving us the opportunity to read and review Finding Sam. Another phenomenal novel in this amazing two novel series. Such a beautiful ending to such a haunting, heartbreaking and dark story.
Well. I did it. Everyone begged me to create a sequel after the ending of A Reliant Love and here it is. I have to admit, I was hesitant at first because Sam's story was so fragile. But I am so glad I wrote this because I think I love Finding Sam even more than A Reliant Love.
The book picks up right after where A Reliant Love ends. It has the same elements as the first so if you don't like dark stories, this probably isn't for you. Depression, drug-abuse, denial, death, it all affects us in a very real way and we tag along on Sam's journey as he navigates his feelings and tries to stay sober.
The characters in this book are beautiful. I don't know how else to describe them other than they're real to me. Readers like Sam probably 50% of the time, but in this book I honestly think you'll love him 100%. What he goes through is something we can all relate to. Izzy, Lenny, and Lucky are complex secondary characters who act as guides to lead Sam to a promising life.
I will say, this book has a much happier ending. I wouldn't kill you all twice. I don't want to give much away but I think EVERYONE will love it. Be taken on an emotional ride through a man's journey of finding himself after he's lost it all.
I wasn't sure when I started this book if I was ready for yet another dark, gritty, heart wrenching book. Since I'd just finished A Reliant love by Lavati, I was still licking my wounded heart and very tentative to start this book. I was so glad that I trudged on and read more about Sam.
Sam is one of those characters that just reside deeply in your heart. A wounded person who has been to hell and back you want to help bury his demons and save him from his pain, self loathing, and heal his heart. Lavati does an amazing job with developing this character who angers and frustrates you to no end, but at the same time appeals to your heart making you love him no matter what his actions have been in the past.
I am so glad that Lavati chose to continue Sam's story. She has taken us an unbelievable journey of self discovery, peace, love and forgiveness. She managed to yet again capture the right amount of story telling, well written characters and interest to keep you turning pages until the very end. She has an exceptional talent that should not go unnoticed. She is an author to follow and read. Finding Sam is a must read that I will highly recommend.
Where to start? After reading book one in the series I wondered if Sam's book would be as (I'm struggling for a word like dark, harrowing, full of angst...) This book was well writen and I really wanted to find out how Sam recovered. It was a tad bit soon after the tragedy, but life goes on. I was gripped and wanted to hold his hand through his life. This is a story of the struggle Sam has after losing Nathalie. His grief and mental state after relapsing and blaming himself for the consequences of losing her . It was a heartwarming story of his recovery. The struggle with his self esteem and his need for oblivion and to escape any relationships, friends or lovers, that he could cause them to be hurt or killed made me feel sad for him. It was inspirational to read of his recovery and I was willing him to get well. Physically and mentally. The story continues from book one, A Reliant Love, and finds Sam determined to stay off of drugs as this is what Nathalie would want. He hangs around for a funeral before he finally gets to make his plan happen. He needs to run as far away as he can. In his mind he thinks that he is cursed. Anyone who is close to him dies or is badly hurt. He plans to just drive for as long as he can and never stop long enough to get attached. Therefore not able to affect anyone with his 'curse'. After several days of driving with little to eat, drink or sleep he has a blow out on his truck. He meets a stray dog, replaces his tyre and takes his truck to be fixed properly in the nearest town. This is a one horse town. One of everything and as remote as you can get. The generosity and kindness of the few people he comes into contact with worries Sam. He just wants to get out and not get attached to anyone, but his truck will take most of his money and 2 weeks to fix. Can this place help him or will his curse strike again? You'll have to read to find out
4 stars even with the editing issues, the story is that good.
This is a complex story about a young man who blames himself for the deaths of those around him. At first, it was the deaths of people close to him; however this morphed to his feeling responsible for any death that occurred in his near vicinity. He is extremely neurotic, anxious, depressed, and I suspect, suicidal. It does not help that he is lacking in parental support- the rents you love to hate. You just KNOW it's going to take a very special girl to reach him. It won't be easy. Sam's thoughts jump a little all over the place, his mind is racing. He's anxious and desperate. Sometimes it's difficult for me to follow, other times I hope they are going to do a very thorough final reedit for this book. Sam is not an Alpha. This is not that kind of story. This is a wounded bird who needs love to restore his faith in life and his ability to soar free and live free without fear of living under a curse. Sam's not completely lost. There are so many hopeful signs that Sam will find himself and his heart again. In particular, Sam finds and abandoned dog he names Lucky on his travels and takes responsibility for him. The curative powers of therapy dogs and emotional support animals. Izzy, the love interest, also has a dog killer, who's not really a killer. Lucky, Killer, and Izzy provide a great deal of comedic relief for the story and Sam's broken heart. This story is further proof that love can heal all wounds-even the ones caused by loves misadventures. Reviewed for HeadTripping Books by A. Bookhooker
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book.
I don't even know where to start! The first book left me in a crying, snot bubble mess, and although this book was so different, there were still the reminders there. I couldn't help feeling my heart rip for Sam, he's so full of self-hate, so much that he can't see a future for himself, can't see himself deserving of one. I loved seeing the gradual change in him in this book, the title is very aptly named!
I'm not even going to pretend that I didn't still cry, because I totally did! But there were moments where I caught myself smiling like an idiot, too! Taylor Lavati has the ability to make you feel every emotion the character is feeling, her words capture you, and make it impossible for you not to care and be completely engrossed in the story.
We get to meet some amazing new characters in this book, both fur babies and humans. All of them help Sam in his accidental self-discovery, and you kind of have to love them all! Lenny and Izzy. Well damn, what's not to love about them?! Lenny is the kind of man that you just want to be your Grandfather! He's so full of knowledge and empathy, you can tell that Izzy gets that from him. Izzy is this crazy, amazing girl. She sees life in a totally different perspective to Sam, and she helps him see things her way a little bit more.
I absolutely loved this sequel, and I will definitely be reading more from this author! I seriously recommend this book, but make sure you've read A Reliant Love first!
In this sequel to A Reliant Love we see the continuation of Sam's story and the aftermath of the heartbreak he endured at the end of Book 1. He starts this journey by deciding that it's best for everyone if he just takes off, he can't face what happened so he just packs up and poof! Along the way he is further convinced that he is somehow cursed and his being anywhere for too long is a bad omen.
Fate decides to switch things up for him, after a blowout he finds a dog on the side of the highway who is in need of a home. He pulls up to this garage in a small town and then the journey really begins! Not so much one of miles seen but a journey of healing. And he meets this incredible cast of characters who are the most warm, welcoming group of people you could ever hope to meet.
After Lenny gives him a list of chores to do around the shop in exchange for living in the room above the store Sam begins to feel his life turn around and he begins to actually experience life. The ending of the book was so beautiful and we see his story come full circle and everything that we hoped for him is coming true. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Nicholas Sparks books because like his books this book deals with the redemption of a character that hasn't had the easiest road in life. Sam has been through the ups and downs of addiction and has battled it and came out on the other side, a testament to the strength of love and the want to be better for that person.
I read two of Taylor's books back to back. I swear I thought the last one was my favorite but after binge reading this one and dying to get to the end to see if Sam was ever happy, THIS is my favorite. (I have to admit that the entire time I kept waiting for the ball to drop. I was praying that the book didn't end like the last one, a reliant love. That one killed me.)
Anyway, I loved it. I don't really know what else to say other than it was inspiring almost. It made me want to me a better person in a weird way a book never has before. I felt Sam's struggles, related to the doubt he had inside of him, and really wanted him (as if he was a real person) to get happy again. And that says a lot since at the end of the last book I wanted to kill him myself.
It was beautifully written. I can tell the author, who's become on of my favorites, has really grown as a writer. She took her time with it and I never felt rushed. I don't know. I just really loved this book and it took my favorite spot for the month. I'm still thinking abut it even though I finished it a few days ago. It's stayed with me a long time.
I received a copy of this book from the author and I loved it so much that I had to write a review!
Sometimes there are stories that make you feel so much that even when they hurt, you still can’t put them down. These stories suck you in and make you feel a part of them – you become the main character, the protagonist, even the narrator. You’re no longer just reading a story, you’re living an experience.
And that’s when you know that you’re reading a truly amazing story.
This is what happened when I read A RELIANT LOVE and then FINDING SAM by Taylor Lavati. Two books that are intrinsically connected, these are two stories that need to be read together and need to be read in order. Individually both are great stories that will reach inside and grab on tight. Together these stories leave you gutted, heartbroken and then mended, healed. Whole.
I emphatically recommend both A RELIANT LOVE and FINDING SAM to everybody!
Taylor Lavati Can write every genre in a beautiful way. Finding Sam is the Sequel of Reliant Love. I Loved both the Books.
In Finding Sam wants to leave his Past, his addictions behind and wants to start over. He thinks he has lost the most beautiful thing in his life because of his mistake so now he wants to keep everyone in arm's length and go far away from love and cut all connections. But Life always has other plans for you.
In his Journey he meets some people who cares for him and brings Love back. Izzy makes him realize that he has to let go of his past and move on. Her Love for him gives him Strength and find his true self.
If you love great book and amazing stories with lots of twists then Read Taylor Lavati's book. Her books will make you happy and cry and make you fall in love with the Characters <3

Fabulous book. You definitely need to read this after Reliant Love. It's a emotional journey this story.
This book starts where A Reliant Love finishes and its all from Sam's POV. Sam is struggling and thinks he is cursed seeing no other option Sam packs just one duffel bag gets in his truck and drives away from his home. Sam's car blows a tyre, so he takes the next exit and ends up in a little town called Sterling. Now Sam's life is about to change.
This is such a heart rendering story. I really didn't like Sam all that much he is someone you love but hated, this book changes your view of him.
I really did enjoy this book and look forward to reading more of Taylor's work.
After reading A Reliant Love, I was heartbroken for Sam and mad at Taylor for ending the novel the way she did. I am so glad she chose to write the sequel. Is it all love and happiness? No, it's not. It's a beautifully written story of one man's struggle to escape the darkness of his life. Every obstacle placed before Sam is genuine, and there is no way you can't not fall in love with his character. Finding Sam is truly a journey of heartache, redemption, and ultimately, love.
Thanks, Taylor, for listening to those who demanded closure for this amazingly heartbroken character who deserves happiness.

Sam is running away from his past. From the death of Nathalie. He will go far away, never looking back, but fate has a way of making herself know.
When Sam's truck messes up, he will find himself in a small town. Those around him will help him, but he doesnt want it. It doesn't want to curse them. Those who he touch's always end up hurt. He can't have that happening with Izzy or Lenny, those who took him in.
He's still reeling from the death of Nat, misses her, blames himself. Will these new strangers help him heal, along with Lucky.
You'll just have to read and see. It's all about finding Sam.
Finding Sam, book two of A Reliant Love, by Taylor Lavati left me breathless. And just like ARL, this book reached into me & jerked on my emotions. In this tale, however, there isn't as much losing yourself as there is finding it (great title, Taylor!). However, the confusion & pain, grief & loss are still in play. As is the love and personal growth. This story captures your attention, pouring more real life scenarios into fiction to create a book that will stay with you through the test of time. The journey, combined with the final destination, will fill the hole in your soul you didn't know existed, leaving you more complete than you were at the start.
First off, this book is just awesome. at first I was doubtful, I mean the first book is so sad and so good and dont need more to it but after reading this book, I must say I am so in love with Sam that it really hurts.
The book is really really good written and keeps the reader captured from first to last word. The feelings are so real, the story is so real. its a bit scary to think about it. I will read Finding Sam more than once due to how well written the book is and how real the feelings are. I mean wow, I dont think it can be any better than this
I absolutely adored A Reliant Love, and must admit that I was left in such devestating heartbreak that it took me a bit of time and healing to be ready for Finding Sam. Sam is one of those characters that you just cannot help but love. His self hatred and guilt that he lets consume him will leave you looking for ways to heal him. While the beginning of the book has the same dark vibe as book 1 it quickly turns into a wonderfully written, beautiful story of love and growth. I loved it and cannot wait to dive into my next Taylor Lavati read!!!
We expect men to be strong, to be able to handle anything thrown their way... But this books gives a all too real reality of what any man can face, has faced and will face at some point in their life. This is a story of one who seems to lose everything he touches... But can he pull it together... is there anyone who can help... Guess you'll have to read for yourself to find out!
This Was Another Dark Book For Me But It Was Different From A Reliant Love As It Gets Lighter The Further In You Go.
Sam Finally Gets To Battle His Curse And Demons In This Beautiful Book In The End.
I Really Don't Want To Say A Lot As It Will Ruin This Story And That Would Be Unfair And I Would Never Do That. Does It End Like The Last Book, Hell No!!! Is All I Will Say, Just Read It And Don't Wait Too Long.
Finding Sam starts right were Reliant Love ended. It starts of dark , but as you get into it , the light starts to shine more. It is a very emotional , heartbreaking , deep book. And I am so glad I was able to get a copy from the author to R/R for her. This is a wonderful written book. Get your tissues ready your going to need them, either from crying being sad or the crying for being happy. Reviewed by JustaBooklovinJunkie
What do you do when you're cursed? When everything you touch is screwed up? You run. Sam packed up everything and took off after the death of his fiance Nathalie. He believed everything was his fault. The car accident that took Nats life wouldn't have happened if he hasn't relapsed back into drugs. Didn't matter that the accident had nothing to do with him. He still believed the curse. His truck breaks down in this little podunk town. He's told it will be minimum 2 wks before it's fixed. He is welcomed with open arms to a tiny little room above the general store in exchange for fixing up the store. The owner Lenny takes him under his wing. In comes Izzy. Lenny's granddaughter. Oh man.. Everything about her reminds Sam of Nat. He refuses to acknowledge the feelings that get awoken. But when he finally does, something tragic happens. Is it the curse? Can Sam ever get his HEA?
Since I read both Reliant Love and Finding Sam, my thoughts and feelings are fresh in my heart and mind. I want to say that if you have not read Reliant Love, I suggest that you might not want to read this review.
In the first book I automatically assumed that Nathalie was the main character in this series. But it seems I was wrong, Sam is the main character and he is lost. Especially when he loses Nat. So he ruins everything and everyone.
This book is another chance for Sam, even if he doesn't want it. Everyone deserves another chance right? At least I think so. I am so happy that he was able to be happy in the end. Even if he got hurt along the way. Nothing in life is easier, whether it's in a book are in real life. Nothing is simple and we have to fight for the right to our happiness.
I loved these books. Thank you, Taylor, you have reminded that sometimes you just have to keep fighting.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I read A Reliant Love and was like OMG it can't end like that. I was so excited to see we would get more Sam in Finding Sam. You should read A Reliant Love before jumping into Finding Sam.
I absolutely love Sam. He's a tortured soul type of character. He weaved his way into my heart and I couldn't help but hope he got a happy ending. If there was one character I could jump through the pages and give a hug too, it would be Sam. Sam is in pain from lost and feels that he is cursed. He leaves and that's where his journey begins. It's a great story. It had me hooked from the first page. If you read the first one you are definitely goign to want to read this one.
