A TORMENTED WARRIOR WHO HAS LOST EVERYTHING...

Plagued by the memories and guilt over his family’s demise, Raven lives for the sole reason of restoring his younger brother. And kidnapping a witch is only the beginning—for he intends to right the wrongs of his past by any means necessary.

While the gods might have planned for her to be captured, surrender is not something that comes easy to Amira. Yet one glance into her captor’s eyes, and she is swept away by emotions long ago denied to her. She decides to play along. For a while.

Despite the hatred Raven harbors for their kind, he is intrigued by the witch. One taste of her lips, and she becomes his obsession. Soon, he discovers that fighting against the passion they ignite in one another is futile. But as they strip each other’s secrets, a powerful force threatens to destroy them both.

For in this game of gods nothing is simple—the whole universe seems to conspire against them. And no matter how fiercely they fight, or what they are willing to endure to save each other ... the path they travel is paved with loss.

Will they survive the ultimate test, if even their determination—to fight till death—might not be enough?

For two years, Clover has been at a goblin's beck and call. Two years of no orgasms. Until she heard a rumor the sage witch could help her break the goblin's curse. There's only a few minor details, like how would she find love on short notice and how deadly are nightshade berries?

Reed's life was simple, own a bar, walk to work, fight a little. He didn't expect to tangle with a wanton elfess who disappeared on him not once but twice. Let alone save her from a depraved goblin. He'd sworn off women like her for good, so why did he feel the need to protect her?

Excerpt~

Clover watched his chest widen as he inhaled. He owned the bar and did the tending? Impressive. One little thing to settle. "My savior..." she purred and reached for him, sliding her body up against his. "What do you want for your heroic deed, sir?" Her voice took on a note of sarcasm. "Perhaps I should repay you with a nice, long fuck. Is that what you want?" She brushed a hand along his chest and walked a circle around him. It's what all men wanted, and if she could oblige, she would. Despite her hurt pride, she found his masculinity, his strength penetrating every part of the bar, captivating.

"I want nothing from you. I only did what any gentleman would have done, Elfess."

Her heart skipped. He'd already nicknamed her. Anger flared. "I can handle myself. You had no reason to interfere." It didn't matter that she liked the nickname and how it rolled off his tongue in that smooth low voice. She didn't need a protector.

People began to stare.

"And what could you have done as his fist collided with your pretty face? I couldn't have that now, could I?" His eyebrow arched.

"It wouldn't have hit me. I would have moved out of the way. He was slow. I had everything under control. You men are all the same—only looking to fulfill your own pride, make sure you're seen in a good light. I'm no distressed elfling." Clover stepped back.

Anger permeated him. His nostrils flared out and his face turned the cutest shade of red. Clover resisted the urge to smile.

"Next time, I will oblige your pride." He advanced on her, taking away the distance between them. His jaw clenched when he reached her. Clover moved backwards, wary of his intentions. His green eyes glared. "Are you worried now, Elfess?"

Blurb ~
The last thing eighteen-year-old Ann Leigh remembers is running from her boyfriend in a thick Nebraska cornfield. This morning she’s staring down a cool Italian sunrise, an entire continent from the life she once knew. The events of the eighteen months in between have inexplicably gone missing from her memory.
All at once she’s living with Tommy, an attractive, young foreigner asking for her continued love. Though he’s vaguely familiar, she recalls a boy named Shane in America who she reluctantly agreed to marry. Juggling a new world while her old one is still M.I.A is difficult enough without the terrifying movie scenes spinning a dizzy loop in her mind: glimpses of a devastating house fire, a romance gone wrong, an unplanned pregnancy, and a fractured family – each claiming to be part of who she once was – a girl and a past somehow discarded.
Ann Leigh must collect the pieces of herself to become whole again, but she doesn’t know who to trust especially when Tommy’s lies become too obvious to ignore. And above all, her heart aches to discover what became of the child she may or may not have given birth to.
The Making of Nebraska Brown tells the story of one girl’s coming apart from the inside and the great lengths she’ll go to reclaim herself and find her way home.

Book Links ~ Barnes and Noble / Kobo /Amazon   Excerpt ~  “Where am I, exactly? I mean . . . what is this place?” He smiled. “The Palace of Portici.” “A palace?” I squinted, then flipped the hair off of my face. I was Ann Leigh, wasn’t I? Ann Leigh, strawberry blonde, five-foot-four, dreadfully allergic to cats. I grabbed the ends of my hair again and looked down at it. It wasn’t yellow-red at all but more like brown butter pecan. My head hummed. Martino was still grinning, as if he was more amused by me now that he was sure I wasn’t dead. He spoke again. “Orto Botanico.” “Botanical garden?” “Si, yes. Ana, ora andiamo? La Pasticceria Tartoni?” “Yes. We’ll go to the pastry shop now.” And I went with him. Even though, for all I knew, he could have been one of those freaks who got his jollies from attacking innocent young girls. But then, for all I knew, I wasn’t an innocent young girl. The sky in Campania, Italy, looked familiar; the clouds were funny cotton ball shapes that could be giant sheep— pecore? If I were Ann Leigh from Nebraska, then how did I know those clouds, those words?   About The Author ~ clip_image004 As a young girl who spent her allowance on Nancy Drew mysteries, Louise realized that one day, she might have a story of her own to tell. Excerpt-

Patience continued in a fierce whisper. “Rejection? I think not, your lordship. That man should rejoice in the knowledge that he is loved, truly loved with a burning passion that the lady might be too shy to reveal.”

He caught her by one hand. “Too shy to reveal? Oh, Miss Cherwell, you have given me such hope. Do you think she fears this passion might not be reciprocated? Does she fear rejection?”

“Oh, yes,” she breathed. “Just think what it means if a woman displays emotion to a man, sentiments that others might consider unseemly. They would judge her harshly.”

“But she must not care what others think,” he said in a voice that sounded strangely hoarse, as if he struggled with some repressed emotion. “If only she knew that he reciprocates her ardour with a consuming love that he would give anything to reveal. He burns inside for her touch, her approval, her consent, and for the slightest indication that he may proceed without fear.”

Patience gazed deep into his eyes. “He may proceed, my lord, without the slightest fear and secure in the knowledge that he is loved beyond all bounds of propriety, that the lady would give anything to find herself at one with him, joined to him irrevocably in life and love!”

“And what about an age difference?” he whispered. “What if the man is more than a few years older than the woman he loves? Will their love endure?”

Something squeezed her heart as his words meant the final confirmation of his adoration for young, beautiful, vivacious Lorna. Twenty years was a big gap between Lorna and Lord Blackwood. However, an age difference was not so important, not when two people loved each other. She owed it to her friend to encourage him. She had to press on, no matter if the task broke her heart.

“What is age,” she whispered back to him, “when two minds think as one, two hearts beat as one, and two bodies are joined as one. The union of mind, body, and spirit transcends age.”

Patience breathed hard as she spoke, and he continued to stare at her. He did not speak, and his face, already so dear to her, was as familiar to her as her own. Every detail of his features burned into her consciousness. She was floating, uplifted by a thrilling throbbing of blood in her veins, by an intense feeling that overwhelmed her. She leaned towards him in an alarmingly intimate fashion. A mere hair’s-breadth separated their faces. The tiniest movement from either of them would bring their lips together. She sat back and he released her hand.

“Pardon me,” he said. “I was captivated by the fervour, the strength contained in your reply.”

Patience, flustered, looked around for the charcoal she had dropped. “Oh, my apologies, your lordship. I am not sure what came over me to speak so freely about…er…matters of love. I am sure you consider me forward or impudent.”

Excerpt-

She ran lightly to the other side, lifted the covers, and slipped into bed, winding her arms and legs around his body. Oh, his hard, muscular body felt so good; the sensation of his skin on hers made her gasp with desire. She’d forgotten how appealing, how irresistible he was. In all their passion, she had never touched his naked flesh. His prudish sense of discretion had made him impervious to the temptation of anything more than long sucking kisses and much fondling, albeit clothed.

Letitia enjoyed only seconds of the pleasure before he leaped out of the bed like a scalded cat, grabbed the poker from the fireplace, and held it out in front of him.

“In God’s name, what is this? Who are you?”

Letitia reached for the candle and lit it. His body was magnificent, like a statue of those Greek athletes she’d seen in galleries. Not an ounce of spare flesh, only rippling muscles… She had waited so long for this and just the sight of him meant it would be worth it. Her body tingled as a thrill of arousal flared.

He stared at her in total horror. She stared back, her smile fading as she realised he was not at all pleased to see her. His conservative ways had clearly come to dominate his thinking while she had been absent.

“Letitia? What on earth are you doing here? Naked? In my bed?”

She sat up, pulling the sheets around her breasts. She pouted in a provocative way. “If I’d known you’d be so displeased to see me I wouldn’t have bothered.”

“Displeased?” He laid down the poker and shrugged on his dressing gown. “I’m stupefied.” He fastened the cord of his gown securely. “You must leave at once.”

She reached out to him. “Don’t be silly, Charles, I’m here for you tonight. We can consummate our love now. We can be together. Let’s forget the nonsense about the portrait. We can make passionate love, and then we can marry. It’s what you always wanted.”

She fluttered her eyelashes as she looked up at him. “It’s what I’ve always wanted…”

His face was grim. His eyebrows drew together in a harsh line.

“I wanted it once, Letitia, but no longer. I have seen a side to you I find hideous, even shocking. I will not marry you, and this cheap ploy will get you nowhere.”

He grabbed the covers and yanked them off the bed. She laughed, and made no effort to cover her body, but he averted his eyes. “I suggest you get dressed right now, and I will take you back home where you belong.”

Excerpt:

When I entered the dining room I feel a moment of despair as he isn’t there. Then he appears from the opposite door and my heart skips a beat. He has taken the time to change into black slacks, a white button down shirt and a black tie. He looks like an ad from a magazine that is selling elegant sex. As he approaches me it’s like watching a Black Panther move towards its prey, so beautiful and yet so dangerous but I can’t walk away. He holds two glasses of wine and offers one to me. I take it and immediately drink it down, trying to find the courage to play his game. I’m relieved when he takes my arm and leads me to the table because I’m too distracted by my own thoughts to worry about food. He pulls the chair out for me and slides me in. Taking the seat beside me he somehow makes the large dining table more intimate.

Maria enters with several dishes and looks at me with a knowing smiling. She has went all out and prepared a full Italian dinner for us. There’s enough food for a small army. Our first course, called L’antipasto was an assortment of meats, cheeses, olives and bread. I take a bite of cheese and find Valentino watching me with a hungry look on his face. He takes an olive from the tray and places it against my lips. “Let me feed you”. I opened my mouth and take the olive in, gently running my tongue along his fingers as I do. I feel his intake of breath more than hear it and it’s like an aphrodisiac. I reciprocate by taking cheese and placing it in his mouth. As he chews I have the overwhelming need to run my fingers along his lip line. His eyes are hot and all for me. I can’t believe this magnificent creature wants me this much.

Before long the second course, la prima piatta is delivered. Maria has made pici pasta with pork sauce paired with a Chainti wine. I sip my wine and feel the familiar warming in my stomach. It’s a heady combination the wine and his sent, but I make sure not to drink too much. As we eat our pasta he comments, “You eat with gusto just like you do everything else, I love that about you”.

I feel a little embarrassment by his words, I have always loved food the different textures and tastes. I know I’m not a petite woman and at times I have felt too voluptuous for American men. He seems to read my mind as he places his hand on my thigh and whispered, “I love your curves, you are a real woman and I intend to explore each curve tonight”. His words make me instantly wet and wanting. I am no longer focused on the food as I look into his eyes and know that he is thinking about fucking me. I reach my hand under the table and begin to draw circles on his inner thigh. He shifts in his seat and I smile.

At that moment Maria brings out the main course or la seconda piatta which is braised beef with vegetables. It is paired with Barolo, a deep strong red wine. As we eat I continued to inch up his thigh and run my finger along his growing erection. His hand which has been resting on my thigh begins inching down. When he reaches the hem of my dress, he slowly slides up my leg until he reaches the top of my lace stockings where his hand bites into my thigh. I can no longer eat as his hand gently slides up to the junction of my thighs and his finger skims my wanting lips through my lace panties. He slides his finger beneath my thong and finds me wet. I see him smile from the corner of my eye, “I love that you are always wet for me. Let’s skip dessert you are all the sweetness I need”. I am up in a second practically coming from his words and the flick of his finger against my clit.

We practically ran up the stairs to my suite. As the door closes behind us he kneels before me and commands “lift your foot”. I do as he demands as he removes one shoe and then the other. “You're so perfect. I wish you could see you through my eyes”, he pants as he runs his hands up my legs. When he reaches the bottom of my dress he grabs the hem and slowly slips it over my head. He reaches out and runs his hands through my thick black hair, following it down to my waste. His hands don’t stop there, but continue to glide over my hips.

Wrapping his hands around my waste he pulls me against him for a passionate kiss. He seems intent on being in control and keeping the pace slow and seductive. “Let me lead you, I want to make you come over and over again”, he says in a controlled voice.

Yes, my mind screams but I just look into his intense green eyes. “Your eyes have bewitched me, there like amber and gold swirled together”, he says in a whispered voice.

“Me, you fill all my waking thoughts. You look like a Roman God that’s come to life”, I say between gasps of pleasure.

For a moment he looks angry, “It’s just looks”. Then the moment has passed and he’s touching me again. He reaches out and traces my lips, along my chin and down my neck. He gently circles my breasts and then pulls the lace down to pull my nipples with his fingers. My back arches in response as he encircles my left nipple with his mouth and sucks. I’m so turned on and ready for more. I try to press my body against his to create more friction but he holds me back, “slow” he growls “I’m in charge tonight”.

I still immediately and wait for him to continue. He torments each breast and then slides lower, licking across my stomach and down to the tops of my panties. He presses his palm against my mound and I can’t help but push back I’m so turned on. No one has ever tormented me this way. He keeps my thong on and licks between my folds through the fabric. The feeling is sensual and instantly has we dripping. He pulls my panties to the side and licks my wetness. I’m panting and grab him by the hair as I push against his mouth. He pushes back against the wall for support as my knees become weak. He flicks my clit with his tongue and I almost come. But then he moves down my wet pussy to suck and pull at my entrance inserting his tongue inside my wanting cunt. I push against him and my hips move of their own accord. He runs a finger through my folds to gather my wetness and then inserts two fingers into my hungry opening. His tongue returns to my clit and circles it. I pull his hair and pump against his beautiful mouth as I scream my release. I collapse against him and realize he’s still fully clothed.

Shannon Casey was born in Turlock, California, the second oldest of eight children. Being the only girl she had to use her imagination to entertain herself. She was also a tom boy who never let the fact that she was a girl slow her down. She learned to ride horses better than the boys and practiced her hand at roping and barrel racing.

She married her high school sweet heart during her senior year and became a mother at seventeen, but she didn’t let that slow her down. Her daughter became her motivation to obtain her college degree and create a better life for them. Shannon graduated from CSU Stanislaus in 1997 and soon after had her second daughter. She went on to obtain two master degrees in psychology, two credentials and a private license.

During her career as a psychologist she never gave up her dream of becoming an author, but as the years passed she never found the time to actually write. Like most people, the daily grind and spending time with her children took precedence over her desire to create.

Then she met her second husband, Corey Casey, through her older brother Anthony. They married in March 2008. When her son was born in July 2009 it was the perfect time for her to cut her hours to part time. Corey inspired her to pick up her pen and write, telling her that she would never know unless she tried. Since that time, she has written her first novel, traveled and found her creative outlet.

Author Interview with Arabella Sheraton

Tourbanner

Today on the blog we have Arabella Sheraton, author of today’s Series Blast, Regency Romance. We would like to thank Arabella for stopping by and sharing with us. So sit back and lets go.

Author Interview

Did you always want to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

I entertained my younger siblings with wonderful stories when I was younger, but serious writing only came later. I studied in London and Paris for a stage career, but just drifted into publishing, then into writing.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

When my first book was published.

How long did it take to get your first book published?

It was incredibly easy. I sent my manuscript to a romance publisher I read about in a writing newsletter. They loved it; then said they wanted more books. So more books it was!

Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

I do all writing-related work like teaching novel writing, proof reading book reviews for a big book review site in the USA, reviewing books, blogging, writing…

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

My latest book is The Reluctant Bridegroom. “The Earl of Wenham has no intention of marrying the woman his father chose for him.”

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

MUSA Publishing is my (traditional) publisher. They do a variety of books.

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?

I find practice makes perfect. My first book took a year to write; the second took three months. I did NaNoWriMo in 2012 and got a book out in a month. But I prefer three months.

What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

I am thinking about YA paranormal fantasy, but only thinking about it right now.

What genre would you place your books into?

Definitely Regency romance – not too sexually explicit, with more focus on great plots, sparkling and witty repartee, and good characterization.

What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I wrote them for my mother. She adored Regency and historical romance and kept saying she wanted to read something new. So, I wrote my first romance for her and, since she passed away, I have dedicated all my books to her memory.

Do you have a favorite character from your books? And why are they your favorite?

I just love the two main characters from The Reluctant Bridegroom. A lot of sparks fly between them because they do NOT want to marry each other. Then they form a pact to pretend to get to know each other better, just to shut their families up. However, things don’t go according to plan … do they ever?

How long have you been writing?, and who or what inspired you to write?

I have always scribbled stuff down; from entertaining my siblings, to short stories for kids that I wrote while in France as a student, to editing in a publishing house, it seems I was destined to write.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

I have this charming little wooden cottage at the bottom of the garden (no kidding!) and once I am in there I have my desk, computer, books, CDs, all my notes, and ‘stuff.’ I tell the housekeeper that she must only disturb me if the house is on fire…

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

Oh, yes, because I am so grateful for reviews.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

I think of a title and then the story materializes.

How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?

I have absolutely no idea. It’s kind of like osmosis – the ideas and names and places just seep into my brain.

Are character names and place names decided after their creation? Or do you pick a character/place name and then invent them?

Everything sort of merges together because once I start writing, the whole story gells.

Do you decide on character traits (ie shy, quiet, tomboy girl) before writing the whole book or as you go along?

The characters do take over, so if you ever heard anyone say this … it is all true. It develops as I go along. Sometimes the characters surprise me, especially when they don’t do what I had planned for them.

Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesops Fables type of "The moral of this story is..")

I think basically one should be honorable about everything, including love. Don’t cheat, don’t wreck someone’s happiness, don’t have unrealistic expectations. Do your best, and love as much as you can. “Unto thine own self be true”—Shakespeare.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

I am traditional and prefer print books – either hardback or paperback. I have loads of real books and lots of bookshelves.

What is your favorite book and Why? Have you read it more than once?

The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. It has it all: love, passion, obsession, murder, theft, mystery, intrigue, secret diaries, suicide… I have read it many times.

Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favorite/worst book to movie transfer?

Best: Lord of the Rings. Worst: not sure because I tend to choose my movies carefully.

Your favorite food is?

Seafood. Ice-cream. Chocolate.

Your favorite singer/group is?

I listen to such a wide variety. I kind of have favourites for a while and move onto something else.

Your favorite color is?

I go through stages. My house is shades of cheerful yellows; my bedroom is pale green and soothing.

Your favorite Author is?

Again, I have favourites for a while. I recently bought and read all the Terry Pratchett books.

Check out todays Series Blast to find out more about this fabulous author.

Excerpt-

“Then what is the point?” Fenella was exasperated. “It is none of your business who I speak to and with whom I associate.”

“Oh, yes it is!” Devlin snapped. “I am your employer.”

“No, you are not.” Fenella’s gaze was unflinching. “Her Grace is my employer and you have no right to criticize what I do when I am not on duty. You are not the judge of my conduct.”

“Hear me, Madam,” said Devlin, a dangerous note creeping into his voice. He tightened his lips. “I am the only judge of the conduct of those who reside under my roof. Sir Marcus Solesby is a known seducer of young women.”

Memories flooded into Fenella’s mind of how Devlin’s presence played daily havoc with her. The feeling of his lips against hers plagued her constantly. Worst of all was reliving the night when he had slid his hand under her nightdress and fondled her body—without considering the consequences. Yes, she had failed to stop him until liberties were taken and his unbridled lust and her blossoming sensuality exposed. She had stopped them both in the end.

Not him. He should never have begun this dangerous game and now he had the effrontery to monitor her every move and decide with whom she should associate?

“Oh, really? And what do you call yourself then?” Fenella’s whole body shook with suppressed fury.

Her barb hit home. Devlin went white with shock and rage—shock at hearing his conduct described as that of a roué and anger that this chit of a girl whom he could not control was daring to defy him in his own home.

“I forbid you to speak to that man!”

“Forbid? Fiddlesticks!” Fenella tossed her head.

“You are the most stubborn, insubordinate and aggravating female it has been my misfortune to meet.”

“And you are the most ill-mannered, domineering, selfish brute it has been my misfortune to meet.” Fenella stamped her foot, her cheeks red with rage. A strength she did not know she possessed rose from within; strength and a fierce sense of independence. She would not be bullied by this man, not after all that had happened between them. She saw in Devlin’s expression his struggle with some kind of gigantic force, the towering emotions that consumed him.

Is it rage? she wondered, almost faltering in her decision to stand firm. Have I gone too far?

Perhaps her upbringing had failed her in the end: one certainly did not defy a member of the nobility. As Devlin opened his mouth; Fenella decided that discretion was possibly the better part of valor. She turned on her heel and flung open the library door to find an astonished Freddie standing in front of her, his hand raised.

“I was about to knock,” he stammered.

“Don’t bother." Fenella ground the word through gritted teeth. “We’re quite finished here.”

Edgar sat next to her, his face at a slight angle so that anyone observing them could not see his expression.

"What do you want?" she murmured though stiff lips.

Edgar snorted. “Want? I want what’s due to me, that’s what I want."

Roxanne avoided looking directly at him. She knew his hypnotic stare would wear her down again. She watched the happy throng of guests twirling around the room, laughing and enjoying themselves. A terrible sense of suffocation began to overwhelm her. Fighting to retain her self-control, Roxanne unfurled her fan and waved it in front of her face. The regular movement helped calm her and provided a flimsy shield against Edgar’s dreadful gaze.

"I have no money, if that’s what you’re looking for," she said with calm hauteur.

Another derisive snort. "D’ye expect me to believe that? What with you engaged to the wealthy young Earl of Pennington?"

"He is not wealthy."

Edgar sniggered as he leered at her in triumph. He lifted her hand and pressed his mouth on the inside of her wrist. Roxanne squirmed at the feel of those loose wet lips against her skin. She snatched her hand from his grasp.

"Not yet, me darlin’, not yet. I hear he’ll be inheriting soon, once he’s married. Something about an old uncle or aunt?"

"His great-uncle Oswald," Roxanne said, without thinking.

Edgar’s reaction made her wish she’d bitten her tongue instead.

"So you do know there’s money coming then?"

Roxanne tossed her head, affecting nonchalance. "The whole of London knows he had a wealthy old relative. His great-uncle wanted to see him married."

Edgar leaned closer. The smell of stale sweat mixed with cheap cologne wafted towards her. She wrinkled her nose. Julian always smelled so clean, so masculine.

He sat back, an angry look in his eyes.

"Don’t put on airs and graces with me. You were grateful enough to have me, weren’t you? When you thought you’d be all alone in the world. Pity you didn’t stay long enough to let me show you what you’ve been missing."

Roxanne felt as if she could explode with rage as she turned to face him. "Let me explain something to you, Mr. Doyle."

Her voice was low and hard, without a shred of fear. Her eyes blazed an intense green. Anger had burned away all her previous terrors. Edgar recoiled in his seat just a fraction. It was enough to tell Roxanne that he was taken aback by her sudden courage.

"I despise you in every possible way. I knew from the start you were not my father’s cousin. You are a fraud. You intimidated my father into thinking marriage with you would protect me in society. Then you forced me into marrying you and tried to rape me. But I won’t have it, Edgar Doyle, I won’t stand for it."

Edgar narrowed his eyes. His lips pinched in anger.

"Now you look here, my girl," he blustered.

"No, you look here," Roxanne retorted. "How dare you think you can bully me in the Duke of Silverton’s house? Who do you think you are?"

She waved a hand at the crowd of guests. "This is the cream of London society. You are nothing but a fraud, a poseur and a charlatan."

Edgar curled his lip as he grasped her wrist, squeezing hard.

"Don’t forget something, me darlin’. You and me—we’re married. So if you get hitched to your high and mighty Earl of Pennington, won’t he get a nasty shock when it comes out his new bride is already wed."

Excerpt-

As she made her way back to her room, there was a shadowy figure standing in the passage. Her candle cast a faint glow in the gloom, so she could not see clearly until she came closer where a man leaned against the wall. She hurried up to him. It could only be…

“Your—I mean, Cousin Vernon,” she whispered. “Is anything the matter?”

He looked dazed, as if he had just woken up, and he wore his brocade dressing gown and slippers. He pressed a hand to his forehead.

“Have you been sleepwalking?” she whispered.

He smiled a lazy, drowsy smile she had never seen before. “Oh, Helena, my love, it seems as if I have been sleepwalking.”

His words startled her. Had he said “my love?”

She took him by the elbow and tried to steer him in the direction of his room. What would people think if they knew he wandered around the place half-naked? Some might say that, as the owner of the title and the property, the Duke of Rotherham could walk around Rotherham Park, any time of day, dressed or undressed.

“Helena, I have been blind,” he said in a loud voice.

“Shhh. Yes, I’m sure you have,” she whispered, trying to speed up their pace.

“No, I mean it. I never saw you before, and once I had, I tried to forget you. But it’s impossible. You changed my life. I want you and I need you so very much, my darling.”

Helena was even more confused. Rotherham must be rambling. Possibly, he had consumed too much wine and his jumbled thoughts of Emily were rising to the surface of a brain fuddled with alcohol.

“What time is it?” he asked.

“Oh, it’s late, very late,” she whispered. “Tine for you to get back to bed.”

He stopped. “Is it too late?”

Helena placed the candlestick down on a small decorative table. “Too late for what?”

He smiled in a way that made her giddy, and he clasped her face in both hands. His robe fell open. Helena glanced down, and then quickly away, face flaming. He was naked under the robe. Where he had been?

“Is it too late for us?” He leaned closer, until their lips almost touched.

“I…I don’t know what you mean,” she said, trying to ease out of his grasp.

“I know what I mean,” he said firmly. “This is what I mean.”

Excerpt-

“Oh!” Rage surged in her breast as she sat up in the chaise lounge. It was impossible to express indignation while lying supine. The effrontery, the gall of the man. She raised her voice. “So now I am stupid because I deliberately strained my ankle?”

His voice became louder as well. “I did not say that—”

“But you meant it,” Diana said through clenched teeth.

“How dare you just announce that we are engaged because of some antiquated idea of saving my virtue? I don’t need you to protect my reputation.”

His jaw dropped. “Oh, really? I suppose you are thinking along the same lines as when you abandoned me just a day before our wedding. You did not do your reputation any good then.”

“It was two days,” she retorted. “Does it matter how many days it was?”

This time his voice was quiet. “It amounts to the same thing.”

Humiliation stung her. “So now you are calling me a jilt?”

The chair scraped on the floor as he stood. “I had no need to do so. The whole of London did it for me.” Then he strode to the door.

Diana’s breath caught in her throat. Shame burned her from head to toe. “You are the most...horrible, cruel, callous, nasty, ill-mannered man I have ever had the misfortune to meet.” She pulled off the ring and clenched her fist, ready to throw it in his face. “I will not be engaged to you. I will not marry you.”

In two strides, he was by her side, and gripping her hand. His fingers tightened painfully on hers. He knelt and stared right at her with a grim, unforgiving expression. “You will remain engaged to me, Miss Dashwood, and for as long as I choose. Do not trifle with public opinion, my dear, or you will be sadly the loser. I tried to protect you and you have flung my best efforts in my face. Have you thought about my reputation? Or that of my aunt and uncle, and your mother, who would also be embarrassed by your petulant behaviour? Have you given any thought to anyone else but yourself in this fiasco?”

She drew in a trembling breath. “No,” she said in a low voice. She dropped her gaze, fuming that he was treating her like a naughty child.

“I will not force you to marry me. I am not such an ogre and I do not want to punish you for what you did. But cooperating with me in this regard will be to your benefit.” He put one hand under her chin and tilted her face upward. “Will you cooperate?” His face was so close to hers. His eyes were like the sky after rain, his mouth so firm...he bent his head closer. Diana thought she might faint. The most ridiculous feeling of dizziness overcame her.

Excerpt:
One thing was certain. Fallen angels were hot. And not the ninety-eight-point-six kind of warmth, either. Oh, no. These Fallen fit every corny pick up line she’d ever heard. Because they were exactly what they claimed to be. Created by the hands of God and in His own image.
How would she ever choose one to feed and then… They were all beautifully gorgeous. She tilted her head to the side.
Except for him.
Dried blood marred the side of his temple and stained his sharp cheekbones. A gash sliced across his left eyebrow ending at the corner of his blackened eye. His swollen lower lip also sported a crack with still-fresh blood threatening to trickle down to the divot in his chin. Naked as the day he was born – or created – his torso and thighs held an interesting pattern of scars that haphazardly healed.
He rubbed his chest with one hand, his golden eyes widening in alarm, and in that moment, Lucy knew she absolutely had to be the one to serve him. His entire demeanor differed from the others. He hesitated to join the others at the banquet table, almost like he didn’t want to partake in the feast, even though she knew he had to be starving by now. Still, he reminded her of… her. A reluctant guest.

An unfamiliar weight settled over Sawyer, and he recognized that for the first time in two thousand years he knew sin. How had Azas done that to him? Slapped Original Sin over his shoulders like a thousand pound straight jacket, trapping him to the mortal realm. Born into the angelic dimension of the divine, he’d heard about sin, but he’d never actually experienced it. Now, healed as one of the Fallen on earth, he knew nakedness, and hunger pains gripped his stomach so completely that he didn’t hesitate to join the others at the manifested banquet table.
Woodenly scraping a chair back from the table, he collapsed against the cushioned fabric as it scratched the back of his thighs and bare ass. While the Fallen indulged in the delicacies from every region of the earth, a parade of nude women served and danced around them. Sawyer’s body tightened in response to the naked flesh, and he groaned at his own lack of control. He shut his eyes to the visual feast. He might be a Fallen angel now, but that didn’t mean he had to indulge in whatever the demon offered. Especially if he hoped to have words with his Maker and return to the right side of the Pearly Gates.
