Experience endangered species up close and personal with Jim Kavanagh from Tiger World.
Please tell us about yourself?
I'm a passionate conservationist who's biggest dream is that the world wakes up and realizes what's it's doing to the planets resources and wildlife. My particular focus is the Plight of the Big Cats and genocide that is happening to every species right now, as we talk.
What is it that you do?
I have owned a small construction firm in NYC for the last 30 years.I have used this influence to educate people and raise money on a corporate level for a number of my conservation efforts.
Wow. I am impressed. How did you get started?
As a young Boy I was touched by the movie "Born Free". I always knew that my life will include making an effort to slow down this extinction level annihilation of the Big Cats. It's a passion and a love.. I cry everyday over the cruelty ....These animals have no voice... I want to be a voice for them.
I do love your passion Jim. What do you want people to learn from you?
That even a little effort or contribution makes a difference. To do something is better then to do nothing. Educate people and bring awareness.
I’ve really wanted to ask you this…how are you able to get so close to all those big cats?
Good judgement, safety first, and I adore them... They feel that.. They feel pure sincerity.. Trust me they know..
Every culture throughout history, all over the globe have idolized every Big Cat species. Although they are the worlds largest land predators they have incredible abilities.. That are magical.
They heal me as I try to heal them.. I can't really put into words.. You are doing a pretty good job of it here. What is your secret to warming up to the animals?
It takes time... They really have to warm up to me... I just keep throwing love at them.. Some hard cases we have saved .. I just sit and read out loud to them.. Form a bond .. A trust.
Have you ever had a close call?
I have learned a few lessons and carry a number of scars to remind me.
Please tell us about a couple of your favorite animals?
I always grew up loving Tigers.
As I settled down and raised 4 boys I got really into the Pride structure of Lions and how loving they are and how dedicated they are to the pride.
In the last year we brought over from South Africa a four year old white Male. His Name is Michael and I've known him since he was a Cub. A true recessive gene carrier. Both of his parents are Brown. I mention this because there is unethical breeding practices that produce these animals for Canned hunting. Another sick and barbaric hunting method that all too many people engage in.
Makes me so sad to hear about that. Though it needs to get out in the open. Thank you for educating us.
Do you have a funny stories?
Just recently I put in some time at a local animal shelter. Domestic animals. And this wonderful woman who runs the place kept reminding me to be careful around the cats. "They have Claws Jim"... Hehehehe.
I humbly listened to her all day constantly remind me. At the end of the day she thanked me and said, "Your a natural. Thank you for the help, you must have done this before"... Well then I broke out a few pictures and left her with her mouth open and Jaw on the floor.. She was amazed. Hehehe.
I love that! What is one thing you would like see changed?
Global protection, harsher laws.
So much... Pain... If we could all see this pain, changes would be made... Few care.... Economic development is more important to our world. The animals and all wildlife and resources are a small sacrifice for greed.
Do you think you get along with the animals more than people?
Yes and No... We need people to make changes so I need to be the voice for the animals... But I never met a Cat I don't love... I can't say the same for people.
I get that! What is one thing that you learned from the animals?
You can't believe how loving they are. That these magnificent massive cats can be as loving as a house cat.
They are magical... Honestly!
I have not truly found the right words to describe them.
I have learned that I can't give up! That I need to do more!
And yet, I give you so much credit for what you are doing. Thank goodness for people like you! Please tell us about Tiger world.
Tiger World Endangered Wildlife preserve promotes conservation through education. Tiger World saves animals. Check us out tigerworld.us
How can people get involved?
Volunteer. We have "onsite" and "offsite" volunteer opportunities.Get involved. Donate, it doesn't cost much to help.Stay committed.
Any parting words?
I searched when I was a kid to figure how to get involved and in 1985 an idol of mine was killed for what she believed in. Dian Fossey. She was my inspiration for commitment to wildlife.
Dian was called one of the foremost primatologists in the world while she was alive. A true conservationist.
She gave her life for what she believed in.
I would like to part with the final words she wrote in her journal.
"When you realize the value of all life, you dwell less on what is past and concentrate more on the preservation of the future.”
Thank you.

My Review
Another great collection of stories by Mary Ann Bernel that are full of mystery, suspense and explosive drama. Scribbler Tales is a series that stays with you long after you have picked up the books. One treasure after another!
In The Ritual there is an intensity to that had me both curious and a bit terrified at the same time. Still, my curiosity had the best of me and I read with great emergency. A captivating story that is both smart and alluring.
Wasn’t sure what to expect but it has a great reward. A little fear never hurt anyone! Love the mystique.
Quote ~
The group encircled a stone coffin that had been placed in the center of the small building that was being used for an altar that was covered with flaming candles. Incense burned in a bronze offering bowl, the billowing smoke filtering through the air. The assistants kept their heads covered, their black garments blending well in the darkened room, their piercing eyes glaring menacingly at Ashley, or so she thought.
Betrayal is another dramatic story that is full of mystery and intrigue. Fun to escape into someone else’s drama for a change. A betrayal is something most of us can relate to. This rings true and I could feel the pain along with the deception.
Quote ~
Amidst the pain came denial, how could he? He had loved her, truly loved her, and he would never betray her, unless he had no choice. That was it, it had to be. He was cornered, his enemies threatening torture and death. He had been given a choice, and he chose to live. Why should they both perish? She understood, or did she?
Murder in the First, there is corruption and murder, no mystery but there is a lingering question that floats in the air. How can Bethal be so cold? But then, she might not be the worst. There is darkness and then there is murder. Will there be forgiveness? Questions remain.
Quote ~
Bethel stepped away quickly as Michael flapped his arms to steady himself while the earth crumbled beneath him. She looked away, closing her eyes and covering her ears as he fell off the cliff and into the sea, the roaring surf obscuring his screams. A salty mist caressed Bethel’s face as she peered at the rocks below through the lifting fog. Minutes seemed like hours as she searched for Michael’s body, which was nowhere to be seen.
Escape from Berlin is a story where Mark’s cover has been broken and he must meet his fate. He has been betrayed but by whom? A chilling story that makes you look over your shoulder. There are spies but they don’t they don’t belong in this town.
Quote ~
Mark wondered whether or not he was being paranoid about these latest developments. Perhaps there was another reason for closing the border, and if that was the case, then there was still a chance that he could get out of the country alive, but he could not leave without knowing what happened to Tatiana. There were many things that could have delayed her, why did he think the worst? He was a spy, that’s why. There was never an innocent explanation when one played this game, and he knew the rules well. There was no such thing as a coincidence, not in his field.
Deadly Secrets is another rapturing story that had my heart thumping at a feverish pace. As a reader, this tale blurred me right in. There is no lack of lust and deceit. Not everything is as it seems, but is it ever really?
Quote ~
He would do whatever was necessary to keep her from destroying his world; her threats had sealed her fate. His face was contorted by a malevolent grin as his plan took shape. He would play her game for now; in fact, he would enjoy it.
BioHistorical fiction author, Mary Ann Bernal, fell in love with medieval England after reading Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. Then came the great Hollywood epics such as Knights of the Round Table, Prince Valiant, The Black Shield of Falworth and The Vikings, to name a few. The Mage: Awakeningby ERIN MCGOWAN
Choice—not fate—defines your destiny.
Katrina has never been normal, but she always assumed she was alone in her abnormality. When she runs away from her awful home life, she finds an entire society of people who are different. Different…like her. Mages…like her. Katrina decides to attend an academy in the Faerie realm to learn more about magic. While she struggles with classes, her talent, family, and new friends, accidents happen to the faeries at her school. But are they really accidents, or does someone have it in for the Fae?
Bio
Erin McGowan lives in Galveston, Texas, where she spends as much time as possible writing or walking in the surf. She also travels with her roommate and partner-in-crime, L.B. Clark, whenever she can.
While pursuing her master's degree in accounting from Stephen F. Austin, Erin discovered that writing during and after class was a great way to relieve stress and focus. Changing jobs and moving all over Texas fueled her desire to write and gave her some great story ideas, and deciding to partner with her roommate in a publishing company gave her every reason to share said stories with the world.
Erin finds that story ideas come from everywhere. Watching the ocean, picking figs in the morning, even walking down the street to get coffee can lead to an idea for a book or a short story. She also finds that her natural empathy and love of music lends itself to writing about musicians and the music industry.
For Erin, writing is like laughing; you can get through life without it, but what would be the point?

What's in it for bloggers?
The topic of why BLOG piqued my curiosity recently when blogger Misty Rayburn asked the question on an Independent authors Facebook group Master Koda, "Why are authors afraid to talk to bloggers? Seems to me they always act like we're gonna bite or something.”
This sparked an interesting conversation. Misty thought that authors are afraid to approach bloggers.
"There's a question bouncing around in my mind right now. "Why are authors afraid to talk to bloggers?
Bloggers don’t get paid, for the most part, and if anyone benefits more from the author/blogger relationship it’s the author. So, “sharing content is imperative. This is a partnership. We bloggers expect to get new views from an author’s readers just as they expect to get new readers from our postings.”
Talking with Misty, got me thinking. There are so many blogs out there that it seems the Internet will explode at any minute and yet there are still new blogs being born every minute. The desire to blog is not going out of style anytime soon.
I appreciate people who are spreading a positive message. I like to look for the good and all those bloggers who are out there supporting authors are really doing us a favor. Her blog is The Top Shelf.
Hi Misty. Can you please tell us a bit about yourself.
I always feel like there’s not much to tell about me. I’m 32 years old and graduated from Capital University here in Columbus in 2005 with a degree in English Lit. Before my back went bad on me, I used to do photography for bands.
What inspired you to start a blog?
Mainly, the fact my back went south. I couldn’t stand for long periods of time so I had to give up photography. I went to a spine surgeon and did 6 months of physical therapy. As a gift, my fiancé and a friend got me a Barnes and Noble Nook. Some friends of mine on the Nook page realized that when I talked about books that people listened. They suggested I start a blog and so I did.
Why do you keep the blog going?
Because I love it. Simple as that.
Does your blog have a general theme?
If it had one overall theme, it’d be my interests. If I’m interested in it, people tend to wanna hear about it. My back flared up again over the last two years and I’ve been lying to myself so it kinda turned away from what I liked and enjoyed to just get some interesting content up there. I’m changing that back now that I’m better. I want to blog more and talk books, not just say “HERE look at this!”
What are the rewards?
On the lowest level, the free reads. We get to read stuff before everyone else! On the other hand, we have to wait longer. On the highest, making a difference.
How much time do you spend keep up a blog?
I’m always working on the blog in some way shape or form. Plugin updates, design tweaks, content, graphics, database and site backups.
What are your goals with having a blog?
I don’t have any large term goals. I’d like to make some money doing it because this is pretty much all I can do. Other than that the overall goal has just been to read and talk about books!
What has been your worst experience as a blogger.
I set a very high bar with The Top Shelf. When my back started acting up again, I kept telling myself keep going, you’ll be okay. You can’t let these people down. It just kept getting worse and worse and it got to the point where I wasn’t reading as fast as I normally did because the pain was distracting. I was missing blog tour deadlines, review deadlines that I had agreed to and I didn’t want to tell anyone the truth because I thought I could handle it. When I finally did tell people I was taking a break to go back to the doctor, they were so supportive! I think I did a lot of damage to myself with that whole deal. There’s no shame in not being able to handle it all.
Why do you think authors are afraid to ask you questions?
Probably the same reason we bloggers are afraid to request books from publicists. We’re afraid of rejection. We’re afraid that someone is going to look down on us for whatever reason.
Sounds like you just answered your own question. Ha ha. What has been your best blogging experience?
Getting to interview Jeff Lindsay! I haven’t posted it yet though! Amazing interview and not about the Dexter series.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your blog?
The fact that it took off so quickly. I’m proud of what I’ve done and what I see in the future for it. I just hope I hold up!
Can you list some blogs that you like and follow? What do you think makes a blog a good one?
Honestly, I check random blogs people share on FB so I can’t really list any that I read regularly. Too busy reading, reviewing, interviewing, scheduling and up-keeping. Plus I’m trying to get back into photography so that takes up some time too.
What would you like authors to do different?
I think a little more understanding would be great. I got a lot of people who said okay you go get yourself sorted but you could kinda tell that they were disappointed. We don’t get paid for this and if anyone benefits more from the author / blogger relationship it’s the author. I think also sharing content is imperative. This is a partnership. We bloggers expect to get new views from an author’s readers just as they expect to get new readers from our postings. Always try to offer up new content. I’ve had some authors send the same content to like 20 different bloggers. Try to limit it to 10. If you need help coming up with new content, ask the blogger. We take the time to post your content, you should take the time to give us new things that will bring readers. Let me also say this: Even if it’s cut and paste, don’t think we can just cut and paste it. My Wordpress blog is a little temperamental when it comes to pre-formatted posts. I take your content and format it myself every single time and yes that’s time consuming. Do you see your blog evolving into something else in the future?I foresee a lot of things. Periscope has me very interested and I might be playing around with that. If I can’t get that to work the way I want to, I may start a youtube channel. I’m also seeing a podcast down the road. I’m already toying around with Instagram and posting pics from signings and stuff. So yeah definitely a lot of great things in the works.
After talking with Misty, it got me thinking. There are so many blogs out there that it seems the Internet will explode at any minute and yet there are still new blogs coming to light and the desire to blog is not going out of style anytime soon. My girlfriend Anna Salvatore, together with her friends just recently started a food blog called Great Eight Friends. They might not consider themselves ‘authors’ but they are writing and not only that but they have learned about editing and coming up with entertaining subjects. These girls are doing it and with finesse but still, my question is Why? Why invest so much into something that may never get noticed? As I write this, I couldn’t help asking myself the same question and my answer comes quick. PASSION! I am pretty sure this is a big reason why most people do this but still, I need to know more. I mean, blogging takes time, energy and often money. Is passion enough to keep it going? I asked Anna this and here is what she had to say.
Great Eight FriendsGREAT FOOD ~ GREAT FRIENDS ~ GREAT FUN
Hi Anna. I have so many questions for you about your Great Eight Friends.
Let’s get right to the point, why are you doing it? What inspired Great Eight Friends? I understand you are passionate about cooking but why invest so much time and energy into doing a blog?
Great Eight Friends began as a dinner group 17 (seventeen) years ago. Four couples decided to get together just four times per year with each couple hosting at their house...simple, once a year dinner party, anyone can do that, right? And we called ourselves The Great Eight.
For several years now our friends and kids have been encouraging us to do a blog. When I quit my job at the beginning of the year I decided it was time. I love writing and we each love to entertain and mostly just have fun. We are really doing it for ourselves and our kids. It is a Gr8 way to document family recipes, parties, and fun times. If others enjoy it and get something from it, then all the better!
I love that! What has been the hardest thing thus far?
The hardest thing with having a blog is having to learn it all from scratch. None of us are tech savvy and none of us are well versed in social media, so every day is learning something new... Which is also kind of fun!
What has been the most rewarding aspect.
The most rewarding part is the feedback and support from friends and family. One of my friends, who is young enough to be my daughter, asked the other day if we would do cooking lessons so she can learn to cook for her family. This is gratifying; not only does it expand our repertoire, but it feels good to help people!
You are not an author but you write. Do you or any of the eight have writing experience?
None of us are professional writers, other than what we did in school.
Who is doing the editing?
I do most of the editing and Kyle backs me up.
Who decides your material?
Kyle, Debbie, Jurga and I get together about every two months to create the editorial calendar. We consider the season, holidays, any trips or events that may be occurring in each of our lives.
What has received the most attention?
We are still trying to figure out what works best. Right now it looks like the Sunday posts get a lot of attention and any time we post something about comfort type foods we get a bit of a spike.
Where do you find your images?
We take all our own photos, which has been another learning curve for each of us. But we are having fun doing it! Now, when I look back at old photos I see how dark and shadowy they are. It’s rewarding to see marked improvement. And we each still have a long way to go!
Is there anything you find especially hard?
The only “hard” thing I think is that I wish I were younger and was raised with all the social media. We are still trying to figure out what really works.
What would you like to see happen with GEF? What is the goal?
Our first goal is to reach out to friends and family to share all the fun we’ve had and share some of our secrets. And I would like to grow our Gr8 Friends base to reach even more people. We have such fun together no matter what we do, that we want our friends to join us in all of our Gr8 Fun!
I am inspired by Anna and her friends and I appreciate people who are spreading a positive message. I like to look for the good and more than anything I like to laugh. And no one makes me laugh more than Carol E. Wyer. author of humorous articles and books. She also writes for the Huffington Post and has an uplifting blog called Facing 50 With Humour.
Hi Carol, please tell us a little about your blog. Facing 50 With Humour is sure an attention grabber. What inspired you?
It started way back in 2010 when I had a kernel of an idea for a book. I wanted to write about a woman facing 50 and all that that entails and who was stuck at home with a recently retired grumpy old man. Problem though; I knew nothing about blogging. I was going to do it in a diary format but that had been done too often so I decided to write it in the form of a blog. I wondered if you wrote a blog if anyone would read it and given I always research properly, I started the blog Facing 50 With Humour using a blogspot free format. The blog had two followers for a month and I posted what was to be the first few chapters for Mini Skirts and Laughter Lines. Then, surprise, surprise the blog took off. Word got out it was a funny blog and by the end of a few months I had over a 1000 followers and requests to guest post. I got cracking on the book and blogged about my life with Hubby (a grumpy old bloke who got up to all sorts of mischief) as well as the daft things that happen to me. I changed blogging platforms a couple of years ago, and now the blog is aimed at keeping people laughing or occasionally providing useful and amusing information for them. All the original posts were removed but if you want to read some of the earlier chatty posts take a look at my old blog www.facing50withhumour.blogspot.com (see below)
Is this your first blog?
Yes but I have since written FortifyingYourFifties which I had to abandon due to time constraints. I now also have the blog www.grumpyoldmenopause.com and write posts for the Huffington Post and Silver Travel Advisor.
What is the hardest part of blogging for you?
Time! There are never enough hours in a day for me now I have so many other writing commitments. Also, I never have time to visit other people's blogs. I used to always head straight over to a blog if someone commented and read their blog. Now, I can only do it when I have a spare five minutes.
How much time would you say you spend on Facing 50 With Humour?
These days I work on the blog one entire morning each week preparing and scheduling posts for the rest of the week. Fridays are hugely popular with my Feel Good Friday jokes and I have to make sure I have plenty of material for those or I'd get lynched. I once didn't post for two weeks and I got so many emails it was untrue. One came from a vicar who was distraught as he used my Friday joke day for material for his Sunday sermon each week.
I love that Carol! How do you keep it fresh and interesting? Is there a downside to blogging? How do you come up with your material?
It comes to me in the night when I am awake. I have never been short of ideas. There is so much out there for anyone who wants a laugh or who is facing 50 themselves.
What is the best part of blogging for you?
I always say blogging is like being at a huge virtual party. You get to meet some incredible people and I try to stay in touch with everyone. It is thanks to the encouragement of all my followers and friends online that I have enjoyed the success I have had with my writing. I shall never forget that. The blogging community is so supportive and consists of the friendliest people.
Maybe that has something to do with your amazingly positive attitude. You know, you attractive what you give kind of thing. What would you like to achieve with blogging?
I think I've achieved almost everything I set out to. I didn't expect to still be blogging five years later and still loving it. My biggest goal in life is to make as many people as possible smile and I hope in some small way I achieve that through my posts. As long as I can type, I'll still blog!
Well, there you have it. Three great blogs, all with different purposes but not without lofty goals. We might have different reasons for blogging but the rewards for many seem to make it worth the big time investment.
There’s a ton of information floating around the world wide web. It’s so nice to know there are people putting their hearts into their work and lending their voice for the betterment of us all. When you have a chance please check out these fabulous blogs.
Misty Rayburn is a graduate from Capital University with a BA in English Literature. She was a live event photographer, covering a lot of Columbus’ local scene but a back injury kept her out of the scene for two years. While recovering, she created The Top Shelf.
Carol E Wyer is a writer, blogger and stand up comic who writes humorous fiction and nonfiction and attempts to encourage others to age disgracefully with Facing 50 with Humour.
Anna Salvatore is a fly by the seat of her pants wife and mom who tries to make life for her family as fun as possible. She has had many chapters in her life and the latest is Great Eight Friends blog.

~ This novel is dedicated to Mrs. Patricia Barry, who lived life to the max and never took much notice of authority in all its forms. Just like the characters herein.
My Review
Once Upon A Time In The City Of Criminals left me speechless, numb, shocked. Just about blew my mind. Kind of a quirky one sided love story. Mixed with a perfect combination of sex and violence.
The guy writes like no other. He takes you to the scene and delivers. I was in the thick of it all and the hair on my arms stood towards the sky. Mark Barry has a way of telling you a chilling story that is not only original but intoxicating. I couldn't get enough. Most books lose some of their flair as the story progresses but not the case with this powerful story. The ending of this book gave me goosebumps, righteously so. Gripping, satisfying, realistic, and dynamic. Once Upon A Time In The City Of Criminals has big guns all the way through.
The author's use of language is brilliant. Hand picked gems that caught me by surprise. The rich plot line kept me guessing as I read as though I was running out of time, needing to know where this story would lead me. Savoring the eloquent lines as they rushed past me. I am in awe.
Once Upon A Time In The City Of Criminals is hardcore and plays out like a Hollywood gangster film. Can see this on the big screen like Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Stellar scenes and realistic in your face dialog.
Quote ~
"There's serious money here. I can smell it, and it temporarily makes my guts turn over. The whole place stinks of cash, of decisions, of self-interest, of colossal hypocrisy and narcissism. I'll never get my hands on a tiny percentage of what these people are worth. I have always hated the rich for precisely the reasons they love themselves. If I had been a little bit luckier, it could have been me, but I doubt it. Too much integrity. Never met anyone rich who had integrity."

My Review
"One of my friends went to Argentina on a flamenco dancing holiday and never returned. She ran off with the bare-chested dance instructor, who taught her how to play castanets. I rest my case. Book now."
Grumpies On Board by Carol E Wyer is a travel book that is well-researched, well-detailed and full of great information. A fun, entertaining little gem that had me laughing my middle-aged butt off. The author has a smart quirky sense of humor that I found exhilarating and laugh-out-loud funny.
The author makes the idea of traveling as an older adult empowering and even a little (I mean, a lot) exciting. So informational and motivating. Even with all the chuckles!
This is an enjoyable ride that I read for pure pleasure and I was not at all disappointed as it inspired me to open my eyes to some far off destinations I have never considered before. And let's not forget the Indian head massage and a visit to the picturesque town, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val. :-) oh yes! Grumpies, no more!
Extreme Active Aging is downright hilarious. It was a pleasure to relax, sit back and enjoy the adventure while Mr. Grumpy rates some of the trip options. Too cute for words, so I will leave it at that! From his rate scale I will give Grumpies On Board a solid A.

Travel uphill from the town towards the direction of Montauban and you will have some of the most spectacular views of the river and gorges. It is this route that is commandeered by the Course de la Cote when for two days in August, cars race to get the fastest time.
This is a great spectator sport. Sunshine, ambience, and then a gentle meander back down to the town for wine and foie gras. Have I temped you?

Thicker Than Water by Georgia Rose. The Third Book in the Grayson Trilogy is Here!
Emma Grayson faces new challenges in the final part of these mysterious and romantic adventure stories as she struggles to move on from her old life.
‘Vaguely aware of the tremor in my hand I ran my fingers up through the thick locks of his dark hair. Fear clutched at my heart as I sensed the icy tendrils of grief reaching for me once more.’
As the overseas action steps up a gear for Trent, Emma has her own challenges to face. Loyalties are tested and vengeance sought when she attracts interest from an unwelcome source.
Because someone is coming. Someone who has Emma in their sights.
Someone who will turn her life upside down... forever.
I am very pleased to have talented Georgia Rose here today. She is all the way from the United Kingdom. Instead of tea and scones because it’s so warm and sunny we’re having ice cream sundaes with all the trimmings. We can diet later but this is a special occasion.
The Grayson Trilogy is now complete with brand new beautiful eye-catching covers and the release of the last book in the series, Thicker Than Water! Let’s welcome lovely Georgia!
Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hi Brenda, many thanks for inviting me on to your lovely blog. So what to tell you about myself? Well, I was privately educated at an all girls school in England though looking back I wasn’t a particularly diligent student and couldn’t wait to leave. I rather wish now that I’d appreciated the opportunity a bit more but it’s taken me a long time to realise that.
I’ve had a settled adult life, one husband, two children and two dogs. The children are now grown-up; my daughter has just left home and my son is on a gap year before going to university.
I run my own business from home and now writing is my hobby.
Wow! You have a very full life. Sounds great to me. It’s hard to think of writing as a hobby but I give you credit. It’s a ton of work but then, I don’t need to tell you.
So what is your book about Georgia?
The book I’m just releasing, Thicker than Water, is the third in the Grayson Trilogy. This is a series of mysterious and romantic adventure stories that started with A Single Step and Before the Dawn.
Written in the first person the protagonist is Emma Grayson who having come through a terrible time starts a new job on the Melton Estate, home of Lord and Lady Cavendish. She is there to look after the horses and soon comes into contact with others who work on the estate and in particular Trent who has had his own issues to deal with.
They do not get on at first and as life continues for Emma she comes to realise that there is more to the estate and the lives of those on it than she originally thought. There are revelations about Trent’s past, dangers that threaten all those on the estate and in the final book more intrigue that challenges everything Emma ever thought about herself.
It’s a fabulous series. How did you first come up with the idea?
I’ve had several parts of stories come to me over the years and I thought in 2012 that I’d give some serious consideration to coming up with a complete story. I started with one idea I’d had then threaded in another, and another and before I knew it I had the whole thing mapped out - and all while lying on a sun bed! I think it was being on holiday that freed up my mind enough to put it together.
Good for you. I know what you mean. Sometimes getting away allows you to think clearer than you would at home in your everyday life. Did you know when you started writing, A Single Step, the first book in the series that it would become a trilogy?
Yes I did. When I planned it out it felt really huge and while at one time it might have been released as a blockbuster shorter novels are the way to go now. The story naturally divided into three parts so I went with the trilogy idea instead.
Really nice. I am so happy for you. I give you credit for having such a good imagination. Your story truly comes to life on the pages. You should be proud of yourself. What are some writing goals for the future?
I’m so new to this writing life that mainly it’s just to get better! However I would really like to manage to write a decent short story - that is a major skill that so far I’ve not managed to achieve.
Well, I look forward to what you come up with. I am curious as to what you will do next. What do you think makes a good romance?
For me it is something that is not too clichéd or soppy. I like my women, as well as my men, to be strong and my romance always comes with intrigue, action and hopefully a little adventure!
Or in your case, a lot of adventure! Haha. What was the most difficult thing you’ve learned being a writer?
Patience! I didn’t realise how impatient I was until I started writing but this is a long game and nothing comes quickly. I have masses of ideas of things I want to do but hampered by having to work for a living am constantly having to make do with what I can fit in in the limited time available and I find that very frustrating.
Most of us complain about there not being enough hours the day but you are surely Wonder Woman. I give you credit. You are a great multi-tasker.Okay, a generic question but I’m curious to learn what books have influenced your life the most?
Crikey, so many and for very different reasons. But I have written an additional section at the end of Thicker than Water that I was always intending on writing but if I hadn’t read Once Upon A Time In The City Of Criminals by Mark Barry it would have been something very different. Now that is some influence!
Now I might have to ask you in private about this. That is a huge influence. I think we would all like to have a little Mark Barry in our writing. He’s got a gift. That is for sure. Do you listen to music while you write? If so what is your favorite.
No I don’t as I can’t deal with the distraction. But, I sometimes listen to it before I start writing to get me in the mood and I have several tracks that are closely linked to chapters that I write and I will never be able to listen to them again without seeing the scenes unfolding in front of me.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Read and write as much as you can and get someone else, in fact several people (that you trust to tell you the truth) to read your work before you publish it. Then go about this business as professionally as you can but above all enjoy it.
Thank you for that. Very good advice!
And for a little fun…
What is your most guilty pleasure?
I’m not sure if it’s a guilty pleasure because I’m quite open about it if asked but it would be Elvis Presley. He was my first love when I was aged four and listening to his gorgeous voice melts me every time.
Billy Idol happens to be big Elvis fan. Sorry, can't help myself. I have too much Billy Idol on the brain. I was fortunate to see Elvis in Las Vegas. Sadly he was the heavy Elvis and not even close to what he had been. Still, he was the king!
If you could meet one author, who would it be?
Sue Grafton, as I’d love to talk to her about her character Kinsey Millhone and how she’s managed to keep coming up with story after story for the alphabet series - she’s up to X, astonishing!
And to think I have not read one of her books. Shame on me!If you could meet a movie star or musician, who would it be?
Oooh you’re killing me here Brenda!! Choices, choices… okay I’m going to choose movie star and it would be Richard Gere… it’s been a lifelong thing ☺ what can I say!
I like that choice! Pretty Woman is still a great fantasy to me!
Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate every time - no contest!
I’m seriously with you there! Cake or cookies?
Cake - preferable chocolate!
Coffee or tea?
Tricky one because it depends on the time of day - but probably on balance…coffee.
I always thought you Brits were not coffee drinkers. Go figure! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us today. I do think everyone should pick up this series and plan to start at the beginning. It’s a real treat.
I hope I’ve done justice to these terrific questions Brenda and thank you once again it’s been lovely to meet you ☺
The pleasure is all mine. You are a great supporter of us Indies and an inspiring writer. Plus, you are so sweet.
I hope you all enjoyed this interview. I’m fortunate to have met some wildly talented people along this journey. Thanks for taking the time to visit and please check out where to find you more about Georgia below.

My Review
Thicker Than Water, the third book in The Grayson Trilogy by Georgia Rose is an epic mysterious ride that began to feel like a Bond movie. James Bond, of course. Yet this not only shook me up, it stirred my curiosity at all turns.
Well worth the wait for this final installment. Full of surprises that had me in great anticipation. My imagination ran wild. The author takes you on an empowering thriller that is approachable, heart-wrenching and impactful. I love her inviting writing style as it is easy to get absorbed into the drama. And yes, there is plenty of drama.
Returning to Emma Grayson's story was something I was so looking forward to. She is familiar and her vulnerabilities and insecurities are what makes her so relatable. She is human. Her love story with Trent grows as does the murderous stakes. Now there is even more to lose.
This was a fulfilling read that was both entertaining and satisfying. A perfect escape from my everyday life. A great book to bring on vacation to read by the pool or at night before falling to sleep. For me, the finale to The Grayson Series was everything I was hoping it to be although I will miss the characters and the adventurous twists.

“He pulled into the courtyard. Although I could hear activity coming from the gym when we entered through the kitchens, they were eerily quiet considering it was only early evening. Carlton led the way towards Cavendish’s large office and my nervousness increased the closer we got. I was feeling pretty much the same as I’d done the day I arrived for my interview, and if there had been room for them in my overcrowded insides I would have sworn butterflies had taken flight. I hated not knowing what I was about to face.”
‘…he moved closer and slowly ran the point of his blade along my jaw line as he spoke softly, intimately, to me.“So, you are Trent’s woman. Now that is very…appealing.” I glared back at him silently.’ There are testing times ahead for Grayson and Trent as trouble threatens Melton Manor. When an attack is made against those on the estate, Grayson gets caught in the middle finding herself and those around her in terrible danger. Terrified when she thinks tragedy has struck again she fights to protect those she now views as family and, suffering bloodshed and pain, confronts her fears – both brought by the enemy and by the one she loves.I think that tells you all you need to know doesn’t it?? Have I forgotten anything? Probably, you usually do I hear you say…but if you fancy a peek at the wonderful reviews this book has gathered then here is the universal link for Amazon, and just as soon as I have a moment (or two!) I shall be putting this up on Smashwords, Kobo etc as well.

My Review
A Single Step by Georgia Rose is a powerful story that I took an interest to right away. Poignant and filled with depth. I was moved and touched. Emotion filled me and I couldn't turn away. This book easy to get absorbed into, making me want to know more.
This story opens with a job interview with the prospects of being offered the opportunity to look after the family horses for the Melton Manor estate. This is her very first job interview and she approaches it with apprehension.
The main character, Emma has been damaged from loss and life experience. Her pain and self-doubt is notable, yet her strength is empowering and her vulnerability is understandable. She is a life-like character that is relatable and likable. She wears her pain on her sleeve. I loved seeing her evolve and come to terms with her life and shortcomings.
There is great feeling in the telling of the story making it difficult not to get swept away into this realistic story about a woman who experiences loss but then begins to heal and comes into her own. This is an inspiring story that is filled with humanity and intriguing twists.

Before The Dawn, the second book in the Grayson Trilogy by Georgia Rose is a energizing, momentum filled read. A gripping addition to the previous book, A Single Step, which I devoured on a rainy afternoon.
The author has the ability to transport her reader right into the surroundings and get attached to the characters as if they are familiar. These books are both compelling and full of drama and unexpected suspense. The twists kept coming making this an adventurous escape.
With Before The Dawn behind me, I am ready for more. I feel there are many more surprises headed in Emma Greyson’s direction. Can’t wait!

"I had to do this one thing, this one last thing, and it would be all over and I could sleep forever, I thought. My exhausted mind started to wander, bringing thoughts of my angel. I imagined her with me, sitting with me. I could picture her as clearly as if she'd never left me, smiling and warm and waiting for me..."
