Friends - There’s a lot of misinformation, fearmongering and hysteria out there about this virus, so we’ll try to set out some facts.
Nicholas Christakis, Sterling Professor of Social and Natural Science at Yale notes “both the attack rate and the death rate among the young is indeed very low with COVID19, unlike most prior pandemics . . . So, a sophisticated summary of COVID19 fatality in both symptomatic & asymptomatic patients is: Age 0-9: 0.0094%, 10-19: 0.022%, 20-29: 0.091%, 30-39: 0.18%, 40-49: 0.4%, 50-59: 1.3%, 60-69: 4.6%, 70-79: 9.8%, 80+: 18%.

Friends - There’s a lot of misinformation, fearmongering and hysteria out there about this virus, so we’ll try to set out some facts.
If you’re elderly, have asthma or another underlying condition you should be very concerned. Otherwise, let’s clear up the urban media’s disinformation.
“That (the media is trying to drive a wedge between Trump and his advisors on the Wuhan Flu) is really unfortunate. I would wish that that would stop, because we have a much bigger problem here than trying to point out differences. There really fundamentally at the core, when you look at things, there are not differences. The president has listened to what I have said and what the other people on the task force have said. When I’ve made recommendations he’s taken them. He’s never countered or overridden me. The idea of just pitting one against the other is just not helpful. I wish that would stop, and we’d look ahead at the challenge we have to pull together, to get over this thing.”

March 24, 2020 - The “Wuhan Flu”
Friends - There’s a lot of misinformation, fearmongering and hysteria out there about this virus, so we’ll try to set out some facts.
This is from UPI regarding seasonal Flu this year - “In all, the CDC estimates that at least 38 million Americans have had the flu so far this season, with roughly 390,000 requiring hospitalization. An estimated 23,000 deaths have been linked with the virus. The percentage of deaths across the country attributed to pneumonia and influenza -- 7.1 percent -- remains below the agency's epidemic threshold of 7.3 percent.
As most Americans worry about the new coronavirus pandemic, the percentage of visits to healthcare providers attributed to "influenza-like illness" increased from 5.2 percent to 5.8 percent during the week ending March 14. That coincides with the rise in new cases of COVID-19 across the country.”
Compare those numbers to the Wuhan Flu cases:
United States cases
Updated Mar 21 at 7:39 AM ET
Confirmed Cases 19,843 +5456 Deaths 276 +59 Recovered 147 +22

Friends - There’s a lot of misinformation, fearmongering and hysteria out there about this virus, so we’ll try to set out some facts.
If you’re elderly, have asthma or another underlying condition you should be very concerned. Otherwise, let’s clear up the urban media’s disinformation.
Elizabeth Schneider is a 37year old Seattle woman who described her experience coming down with the Wuhan Flu to Agence France-Presse. After attending a party, she woke up feeling tired and started experiencing flu-like symptoms three days later. Within hours she developed a headache, a 103 degree fever and body aches. “At that point, I started to shiver uncontrollably, and I was getting the chills and getting tingling in my extremities, so that was a little concerning,” she said. Her Doctor told her to rest and drink lots of fluids which she did, along with taking over-the-counter flu medicine. Her fever started going down over the next few days and she recovered. Her conclusion?
“The message is don’t panic. If you think that you have it, you probably do; you should probably get tested. If your symptoms aren’t life-threatening, simply stay at home, medicate with over-the-counter medicines, drink lots of water, get a lot of rest and check out the shows you want to binge-watch.”
On Tuesday we’ll take a look at how it affects healthy older people. Keep an eye out for my next novel, “Final Warning,” its in the editing stage now.

Today, know that this virus hits the elderly the hardest. As if March 15, 2020 - The average age of those who have died from the Wuhan virus in the United States is 81 years old, and 25 of the nearly 50 deaths in the United States reported so far have been linked to a single nursing home.
On Thursday we’ll take a look at how it affects younger people. Keep an eye out for my next novel, “Final Warning,” its in the editing stage now.

March 10, 2020 - All about Westminster
Friends - For the next few weeks we’re taking a look at the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show:
The Westminster competition didn’t always award the Best in Show distinction. Although 2017 was the 141st year of the competition, this marked only the 110th Best in Show award. All of the canine entries are whittled down within seven distinct groups, including hound, toy, non-sporting, herding, sporting, working, and terrier. The winner from each of those groups then competes for the overall Best in Show. In 2017, a German Shepherd named Rumor won the title, only the second German Shepherd to do so in history.

Friends - For the next few weeks we’re taking a look at the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show:
All dogs are celebrated at the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, but some breeds are more favored than others. The event is one of America’s longtime traditions, dating back to the first show in 1877. (The only older sporting event in the United States is the Kentucky Derby, running for one year longer.) The most prestigious award given at the multi-day event is arguably the honor of Best in Show, given to the dog that passes a litany of tests for obedience, appearance, and more.
