BIG week here at the Fireball Pad in the Bu. Lots of fun and wacky projects building that should add to this year’s Official Cool Factor (OCF). So, let’s get to it…
• KCL… has secure the contract for the 2015 ARIZONA SUPERBOWL. That means that Kathie is building the Superbowl Mascot to premiere in Arizona. I’ve been designing him for the last couple months and it looks pretty fun. If you recall, she did the Superbowl a few years back with SPIKE. And although his name will be the same, the design is completely different. New KCL Episodes coming also.
• TOYS… Because of my writings in the PATCH, an interesting opportunity has come for toys. Just signed a licensing deal with a great new client to design toys for Christmas 2014. On shelves. Now, although I can’t say who or what it is, I can say that the toys are gonna be awesome. And yes, cars. But, if you know the kind of stuff I like to do, then you’ll know they won’t be normal. Cha.
• 5MINUTE DRIVE… episode was supposed to go live this morning but due to Youtube tech difficulties (Thank you very much), it borked. So, expect that episode tomorrow… but here’s an image for ya until then.
• CARS… be comin’ to the Fireball Pad this year and this week is the aggregation. I’ll be driving cars from CHEVROLET, CADILLAC, HYUNDAI, KIA, VOLVO, MITSUBISHI, PORSCHE, BMW & MINI. Looking to secure others, too but there WILL be some surprises.
• COMICS… will continue @ the MALIBU SURFSIDE NEWS, but we’ve expanded to RIDE OF THE WEEK. New articles about cool people in Malibu with their Cool Rides. Be sure to subscribe or peruse the site for the latest. This is a year of advancement and serious growth and I’m stoked about that. • BOOKS… are still in the works. WACKY STATES is looking for a Publisher and Book 3 will be on its way (conceptually) soon. Yes, it’s LETTERS and kids are gonna love this one.

Well, I guess the invasion surprised most of us. We were pretty much involved in our own pointless wars. Couldn’t even imagine somebody coming from another world and trying to take over ours. I mean, we understood why they came. We had our problems with global warming and climate change, and we knew how bad it could get. But there might have been some kind of peaceful or diplomatic solution. They didn’t have to shoot first and ask questions later. But I suppose they couldn’t take any chances, not knowing us and figuring maybe we just wouldn’t want strangers with different customs, religions and ideas taking over. And they were right. We fought back like crazy.
But they won and we ended up with our tails between our legs, licking our wounds and stuck with their customs, religions and ideas. Sure, I survived and all that, even though I lost my arms and legs. The prosthetics they gave me work okay, but I feel like some kind of cyborg with all the sensors and biodegradable circuits they stuck in me. My scars have pretty much healed but I still scare the crap out of little kids. Biggest problem, I guess, is what they’re working on here in the hospital. Post-traumatic stress disorder gives me a lot of trouble, especially at night when it’s dark and quiet and I’m trying to sleep but I can’t because pain and the memories of the battles still haunt me.
Mostly, it’s remembering the friends who got wasted around me and feeling guilty that I survived. I grew up with some of those guys and watching them die like that, well it just stays with you and all you want to do is somehow blot it out of your mind. You kind of look forward to the “electroceuticals” they give you that deaden the memories for a while.
The invaders were pretty brutal, but so were we. Funny, because the biggest surprise was how much alike we were. They looked a lot like us, humanoid and all that, different colors and languages but really the same in lots of ways. They were male and female, and some were both, just like us. And when they talk about their own world, you can see how much they loved it and how sad they were to lose it. I even believe a lot of them really regret having to invade us and kill so many of our people. I guess it’s been a tragedy for both of us.
Wish I could have seen their world. Sounds a lot like ours, maybe a little warmer because they were closer to their sun than we are. They were the Third Planet from their star, while we’re the fifth.

A day or two ago, I grabbed the fam and we headed up to the mountains for a zoom in this week’s 2014 Caddy CTS. Although there was no snow and it was a 70 degree January day, we had an absolute blast. Yes, winter in Cali is a challenge…
First off, lunch was at the famous LA CASITA restaurant where they sell one of the best salsas I’ve ever had. A spicy creamy jalapeno mix that kicks just about anything, Mexican to Burgers. Get some if you like salsas and give a big wave to Roberto. They were awesome and tell ‘em the Fireball sent ya….
A short skirt into town revealed a host of cool shops too, from gifts to chocolatey goodness.
It’s easy to forget what a day like this can bring. We get caught up in our day-to-day and taking time off with the family to go somewhere unique is so important. Anywhere. In fact, it’s better if you DO go somewhere you’ve never been as it’s more of an adventure of discovery. We call them Hat-Trick-Trips. 3 places in one day, although in the case of Idyllwild, it was lunch, chocolate and a playground.
