It’s a choice no one should have to make.
Goodreads ||  Amazon || B&N

The crowd thins, eventually leaving Annemarie and me alone in the hallway. She gathers her books and turns, quicker than I expect. I can’t maneuver out of her way. Our collision is mild, but jarring enough to dislodge the books from her hands.“I’m so sorry,” she says as she kneels to pick up her scattered books.I should be helping her, but my eyes are fixed on her graceful movements. Her long brown hair has fallen to the side, exposing the back of her softly curved neck, and every reach for a stray book lengthens her back and shoulders, inviting my touch. From the lowest point, just above the waist of her jeans, the tip of my finger would snake upward, navigating the gentle ridge of her spine until my hand laces through the richness of her flowing hair. She tilts her head upward and grins at me. “Are you okay?”Her voice snaps me from my fantasy. “Me? Yeah, I’m…fine. Oh, god. I’m so sorry. I should be picking up your books. You’re…you know.” I point feeble-mindedly at her extended stomach.“Pregnant,” she says as she stands and straightens her blouse. “It’s all right to say it. I already know.”The tip of her tongue unknowingly caresses her lower lip and the gentle arc of her full upper lip stretches, the smallest amount, as a smile slowly radiates across her flushed cheeks. These emotions, human, raw and…hormonal, forgotten for so long, now my only hope for clear thought is to suppress them. This has to be one of Satan’s sadistic jokes.I laugh from embarrassment, but it’s the first time, in too long, that the sound of untempered, unrestrained joy bubbles from my heart. How can she have this warming effect on me? I want to say something cute and funny, but my mind is a hornet’s nest of scrambled thoughts.“You look familiar,” she says. “Do we have a class together?”I gaze into her hazel eyes. I must appear flustered because she tilts her head and grins. “No. I mean, I don’t know. Today is my first day at this school.”“Great. Welcome to Roosevelt High School. My name is Annemarie.”“I’m Wake.”“Wake? That’s an interesting name.”“Yeah, I know. It sounds like a funeral.”“I like it. But I have to go. My little guy keeps pushing on my bladder. Lately, I have to use the restroom between every class.” She covers her mouth as if she gave too much information to someone she just met, but her joyful eyes can’t hide the smile hidden behind her hand.“I can’t believe I just told you that.” She starts to hurry away, but looks over her shoulder. “See you later, Wake.”I wave like an embarrassed adolescent. What a lousy first impression. I sounded like a bumbling, immature little boy.I watch as she continues down the hall. I’ve seen other pregnant women before. They were clumsy, out of balance from carrying extra weight in front. But not Annemarie. Her steps are graceful and refined, like she’s gliding on a frozen pond. The gentle curves of her hips have remained slender, and sway hypnotically side-to-side in a rhythm that matches the drumming of my heart. What am I thinking? Mooning about like a lovesick teenager. I can’t let my physical attraction for Annemarie erode the resolve I’ll need to complete this assignment. Yet, she’s the most beautiful… Does she even know how she makes me feel…how human? I’m stuck in a moment reserved for young love. There’s nothing merciful about denying the uninhibited excitement coursing through every inch of my body, but my plan is already in motion. The fate of my mother’s soul is in my hands. As much as I hate myself for thinking it, Annemarie’s beauty has to be extinguished. I have to collect her. I know Satan is convinced these human emotions will help, but right now, I wish I was a stone-cold demon. It would make it a lot easier to incinerate her goodness from the earth.

New Beginnings #Review @BrandyLRivers

New Beginnings By Brandy RiversReviewed by Jedi Christy

Jess knew her life would never move forward if she remained a part of Gregory’s pack. Some Alpha’s just don’t know how to take care of their wolves. She had managed Gregory’s bar for years but she knew he would never sell it to her.

After one giant mistake, he went from bad to worse. As a psychic, she knew it was a downward spiral.
Taking her future in her own hands, she contacts the Alpha in Edenton. He is happy to sell the empty bar no one has the time, nor desire to renovate, much less run.
Their attraction is unexpected and the last thing either want, but they find the only thing they need in each other.
There is just one problem. Slater’s second in command is plotting against him. Liam will use anything to take over as Alpha.
Plenty of werewolves, an old vampire flame, plus a paranoid second, and don’t forget the psychic with a whole lot of attitude.
To read their first chapter, you can here.

Wow, Ms. Rivers, you know how to give me characters I just love. Jess is fearless and a great female lead. Once again, I am drawn into this small town filled with the supernatural. I love the glimpse you give of what I hope are further books with Jess' visions. Especially in regard to Hayden. This book has also entered my reread list. 5 stars, as you delivered on everything I love in a book.
I am looking forward to more works by this author. Check out the series! And trust me, you won’t be let down as it covers love, steamy scenes, and of course lots of action and sneaking around.

Jump #Review @Cindy_Paterson

Jumpby Cindy PatersonReviewed by Annie the Bookworm
His code of honor was respected without question, until he consumed the blood of an enemy in exchange for a mortal woman to be set free from certain slavery.
He can’t forget her
Despite knowing, he will be imprisoned and put to death if caught, Balen, a fierce Senses Tracker, returns to Toronto to find the mortal woman, Danielle, he left behind two years ago. Haunted with memories of the torture they endured in the hands of a Senses enemy, Balen’s determination to see her again, drives him to risk everything. But when he does, a new enemy comes into play, one he can’t defeat.
To conquer the wrath of fear
Determined to find some sort of peace after her abduction, Danielle finds solace in painting a man from her nocturnal unconsciousness. When he comes knocking on her door, her world is shattered and Danielle must face her worst fears in order to survive what is coming after them. It won’t stop. It can’t. For the ancient spell has no compassion.
A journey of tenacious desire that refuses to fade even though that is what will destroy them. Because—in order for Danielle to live, first she must die.

Fellow book-lovers everywhere: If you are looking for something different to read, I highly recommend "Jump" by Cindy Paterson. This well written book is full of suspence, romance and new characters. The cast of this fantastic work is not the usual vampire, werewolf, or witch. Yes there is a vampire and there is a witch or two but they are supporting characters. The main characters are Senses. It is an original thought. I found it very refreshing. Don't get me wrong I love vampires as much as the next girl. It was nice to be introduced to a new 'species' so to speak.
I am giving "Jump" by Cindy Paterson four stars. It is also the first book in the series and you can bet that I'm going to read the rest of them. "Step" here I come! Thank you Cindy for this wonderful, enthralling book. I can't wait to see what happens to Balen, Danielle and the rest of the characters.

The Last Kiss #Review @M_R_Murphy

The Last Kiss by M. R. Murphy
Reviewed by LainnieBug
Oh man this book was amazing! I loved the wording M.R. used to make each scene that much more memorable and inticing! The characters were amazing as well, loved Aiden, he was so sexy and just...damn...*sighs*! Raeve was a strong willed and fiercly independent woman who I enjoyed from start to finish. Aiden and her are perfect for one another and are a wonderful pair. I really enjoyed reading their story and getting to know them! This story is now the third book that I have read that made me cry, oh but it was well worth the tears. If you have not read this book you really should it is an emotionally sweet read that is sexy as sin and will hit home to anyone who serves in the military or has a loved one who serves in the military. This is a book that I will read over again and continously recommend to others. Absolutly wonderful read! "Always until eternity"~Raeve and Aiden

From the Edge of Darkness short #Review @Kevin_Saito

From the Edge of Darkness Review - 5 StarsBy Kevin SaitoReviewed by Book Goblin
You are cordially invited to take a trip to the Edge of Darkness. In his first collection of short stories, Kevin Saito presents you with thirteen terrifying and macabre tales that will make the shadows around you seem much darker and the movement in the corner of your eye infinitely more sinister. In "Tending the Flock," you will see the lengths that faith and devotion will drive a man to. "Tiebreaker" shows what happens when your family turns out to not be who - or what - you thought they were. Logic and reason only takes you so far in "Proof Positive" while in "One Shot Deal," you'll discover what desperation really looks like. Terrifying legends, paranormal horrors and the dark depths of human depravity... All of this and more awaits you within the pages of "From the Edge of Darkness." So step up, gaze into the abyss and see if the abyss truly does gaze back at you.  Kevin Saito's "From The Edge of Darkness" is an amazing book, if you like chills and goosebumps! His stories flowed so smoothly that I couldn't stop reading until I finished the whole book. I had shivers run down my spine and goosebumps erupt several times in broad daylight! Keep up the great work!

Dracian Legacy #Review @pkanaparti

Dracian Legacy - 4.5 Stars By Priya Kanaparti Reviewed  by Jedi Christy

I cannot begin to name the ways I loved this book.  I felt drawn into this world with the first couple sentences and at no point did it like me go. After the last 2 books that have been A+B=C, this book was perfect for me to fall into. Thank you, Priya, for the chance to review the book for you.

Now onto the meat of the review. So to speak, this book feeds you just enough information at a time. Often times, where I thought the author was taking the book ended up totally different. I love the main female character and her no-nonsense Buffy fighting style of things, while still being totally insecure in herself and full of female doubt. Even at the end of what I hope is just book one, I am still not a 100% sure of which 1 of 2 people is the true hero in all this, which I personally find very refreshing.  I would put my money on Alexander but this author has surprised me in this series already, so who knows?  I would say if you are into the YA fantasy and action world, this is a must check-out book. I would give her 4.5 stars and look forward to book 2. Please let there be a book 2!

Darron was on the roof of a large building, elevated dizzyingly high over the road below. Other skyscrapers bordered it, but it was by far the largest building in the general area, standing several stories higher than it's neighbors. The few cars that dotted the street below looked like insects. Above him, the moon shone full, round, and red in the night sky. It was an autumn moon, a blood moon. By the light of that moon, Darron was able to see the practiced movements of six black-cloaked figures, who swayed to the steady beat of an invisible drum. Their shapes were obscure in the pale light, and it was impossible to determine if they were men or women because the dark, hooded robes they wore hid their features from view.
There was an altar erected in the center of a circle that was outlined in black charcoal. On that altar sat the normal tools of ritual: a black tipped dagger, a silver chalice, an incense burner, and multiple black candles. Darron owned similar items. They weren't frightening in themselves. But the altar, like the people who lingered around it, was outlined by a shimmering black aura. The vibrations they relayed were no less than evil. Their presence made Darron shudder. He watched in horror, as a silent and unwelcome spectator to the forbidden rights.
Four of the cloaked figures took up the elemental corners, preparing to call the Guardians. The Guardians answered their call, unable to ignore the summons because magick can't be divided into good and evil. It's both because nature is both, harsh and devastating yet beautiful and gentle as the need arises. It was just as easy for the dark witches to harness the destructive forces of nature as it was for Darron and his coven to call upon its life giving magick. Good or evil was in the heart of its master, not in the magick that was wielded.
A fifth cloaked figure, the apparent leader of the group, stood in the center of the circle with the dagger raised high above his head. The sixth and final coven member groveled at the feet of the leader, his head lowered in acquiescence. The hood of his cloak hid his face though he was no more than a few feet away from Darron.
"Brother and sisters," the leader proclaimed, his accented voice heavy with his foreboding presence. "Tonight in the wake of the blood moon, we come together to bring a new brother into our fold. He has completed the required tasks and proven himself worthy to join us in our work."
"So mote it be!"
The four other cloaked figures cried out in perfect unison. Their hands were raised to the sky in honor of the blood moon.
The leader picked up the chalice from the altar. He followed the path of the circle to all of the elemental corners, stopping at each of the robed coven members in turn. Each offered their willing hands to their leader, palm outward. Each welcomed the point of the black edged dagger as it dug into their open palms without so much as a gasp of pain. The high priest cut a clean line down the centers of the palms of his disciples, and they all squeezed their fingers against the open wound to allow the blood to drip into the waiting chalice.
After collecting the offering from his followers, the leader returned to the center of the circle and the waiting initiate. With one quick motion, he sliced open his own palm. He held his hand over the cup, letting his blood drip slowly into the chalice, until the wound miraculously healed before Darron's startled eyes. When the chalice was full, he carried it to the eager initiate who took the cup firmly into his hands and tilted it towards his lips.
"As this blood makes you one with our flesh, so your soul follows to become one with the darkness," the English voice intoned.
As the initiate drained the last of the liquid in the chalice, his hood fell away, revealing a blonde ponytail pulled back over a pale white face, made even paler by the outline of bright red blood around his lips. Darron watched in stunned, horrified silence as his own face turned to meet his gaze. Eyes turned as black as coals stared back at Darron with a grim smile of satisfaction.
"Rise Darron," the leader commanded. And as he spoke, he lifted the hood from his head. Rise brother of the Dark Coven."

Eve of Samhain Review - 3.5 Starsby Lisa SanchezReviewed by Jedi Christy
If you are looking for a book that is a little more than YA but not the full Monty, then this book is for you. The main character is an interesting cross of naive and experienced. She really knows how to stand up for herself, which is one thing I loved about her. She is more than a little bullheaded and at times I yelled (at the book) OH GEEZ! Just listen to the man or her friends! Her friends I would call a small Scooby gang, and remember, don’t judge a book by its cover, as this applies to her friends more than ever. I would give this book 3.5 stars and look forward to seeing how this author develops her brand, and hoping for a book to follow up on the weird roommate in the mean time.

Undeniable attraction and the promise of pleasures untold draw the two lovers into a frustrating dance of one step forward, two steps back. When Lucian throws down a deadly ultimatum, Martha is forced to choose between relying on her own mystical woo woo to save the lives of her stolen friends or succumbing to the lure of dark, voodoo magic. Running through a strange forest with a bloodthirsty demon hot on her heels wasn't Taylor's idea of a rockin' evening. Then again, neither was soaring backward through time and space. Time travel chafed and left a rank, nasty aftertaste. Too bad she can't remember who she is or where she came from. And if that wasn't bad enough, Taylor has to fall for the mysterious Latin warlock living on the edge of Salem Village and who comes to her rescue, Gabriel Castillo. Battling an identity crisis and lost in a time that's not her own, Taylor is determined to find her way back to twenty-first century Hanaford Park. But first, she and Gabriel must work together to uncover the dark scourge lurking in Salem's shadows, and in doing so, save their own lives, and the lives of countless innocents from a lethal date with the hangman's noose.

Excerpt #1 – Eve of Samhain
“How much do you know about Irish mythology? Faeries, their queen?” He pursed his lips and waited for my response. I shook my head. “Nothing. I don’t know a thing.” “I see,” he said, and he sat back in his chair. “I suppose I should begin with a bit of history then. The Fae were an ancient race of beings that came from the great islands of the North. After being defeated in a series of battles with numerous otherworldly beings, as well as the ancestors of those who currently inhabit Ireland, the Fae retreated to the Isle of Apples, or Avalon, as you may have heard it referred to.” My eyes narrowed in confusion. I’d never heard jack about the Fae, which I assumed were faeries. “Avalon? Like from the Arthurian legend?” “Yes,” he said with a nod. Huh … you learn something new every day. “So, uh … where’s that located?” “Avalon? In the Otherworld, of course.” I felt like smacking myself on the forehead. Oh, of course. The Otherworld. I should have known! I squelched my sarcasm and let him continue. “The Fae queen, Morgana, was eternally young and beautiful, and desired by many, including one young and foolish courtier. Exceedingly handsome and gifted with the ability to charm those around him, the young libertine ravished his way through Morgana’s female courtiers, wooing them into his bed one by one. Narcissistic in the extreme, the young faerie cared not for the feelings of the women he took advantage of, and he boasted openly about his conquests to all who would listen. “He was, in fact, so sure of himself, the vainglorious idiot attempted to beguile the beautiful queen, claiming she would be his greatest conquest. Upon hearing his plan, the queen became enraged, cursing the young faerie. For five hundred years he would walk the earth, seducing women, a slave to their passion, driving them to insanity with lust and the illusion of love. His touch brought about a euphoric reaction to the women he courted, filling them with desire and longing.” He stared at his hands as he spoke, as though they were the spawn of the devil, and hastily placed them in his lap, out of his line of sight. Hot and dizzy, I inhaled sharply, unaware I’d been holding my breath. I stared at Quinn, willing him with my eyes to continue, as my breath came in shallow pants. “Nothing he did was real; it was all an illusion. Every touch, a lie. Never would he know true love or passion, as every woman he came across fell prey to the magic of the curse.” He paused for a moment and stared off into space as if he were remembering the story firsthand. Darkness flashed in his eyes. “For a time, he became angry, indifferent to the plight of the women. After ravishing them, he left, letting them pine away for his touch. There were a few women who became deadly, killing any other that dared to cross their unrequited love’s path.” He stopped talking when he heard me gasp, and looked down, refusing to meet my eyes. “What … what happened?” I asked, my voice barely registering above a whisper. His story was riveting. “The faerie was unable to live with the destruction that lay in his wake. He discovered he had a few other talents that enabled him to strip the memories of those he seduced, saving them from their inevitable spiral into madness.” “So he sleeps with his prey, and then erases their memories?” My hand shot up to my mouth. “Yes,” Quinn replied quietly, his voice filled with shame. His head hung low, and he refused to meet my eyes as he spoke. I reached out to him, wondering why he was so worked up over a work of fiction. “Quinn, it’s all right. It’s just a myth. Th—” “No.” He shot up out of his seat, jaw clenched in anger. “It’s not all right. It’s torture.” His voice broke. His whole body shook, throwing off waves of anger, frustration, and sorrow. “To know every moment of your existence is a lie, a farce. To live each day knowing the women you touch will either have no memory of you when it’s all said and done, or suffer mindless insanity is pure, unadulterated agony!” He threw back his chair and stormed off, leaving me shocked and speechless. My mind reeled. No way, Ryann. Don’t even go there. You like to reside in a little place called reality, where there are no such things as faeries. His story was so compelling, though. The tale he wove seemed to meet all my unanswered questions about him. Not to mention, he spoke with such conviction, as though he lived it himself. Could it be?
Excerpt #2 – Pleasures Untold
Reaching into my bag, I pulled out Chuck and crept forward, my senses on high alert. I lifted my hand slowly toward the door and received a nasty shock that singed the tips of my fingers, causing me to howl in pain."Ow…crap!" The ward on the door was strong. Even stronger than the ones outside had been. This cemented my belief that Deanna was in the room."I wouldn't try that again if I were you."I froze. My senses were magnified, on high alert. If a pin dropped on the opposite side of the club, I'd have heard it.Adrenaline rushed through my veins. I hadn't heard anyone approach, which meant only one thing. There was a vampire or demon behind me.Gripping Chuck tight in my hand, I whirled around and stabbed my silent enemy, driving the wooden stake deep into his…shoulder. Oh, God. No. No. No.I missed the chest area altogether. Not good. If I don't move fast, I'm a goner. I fought to hold onto the weapon as my arm trembled and shook. Using my body as leverage. I stepped back, preparing to yank the stake from its body by brute force.A strong hand came to rest over mine that still gripped the end of the stake, and I looked up, gasping in shock. Him. I'd stabbed him. Holy Mary, Mother of…"Wha…but…I…" The ability to form a coherent sentence left me as I stood open-mouthed in front of the handsome creature who had saved my life the week before. I was no expert with regard to etiquette, but was fairly certain it wasn't good form to repay the person who previously saved your life by stabbing them. With feet glued to the floor, I stared up at him in horror, waiting for him to end my life. With a slight grimace, he tugged on my hand, which still held the stake, and slowly, pulled the offending piece of wood from his shoulder with a frown. "Your aim could use a little work, carino." He swiped Chuck across the leg of his pants, cleaning off the blood and handed me the weapon with a smirk.
Excerpt #3 – Faythe Reclaimed
A gust of wind whipped through the nearby window, a hint of pine floating on the cool breeze. The small room, the bed, time itself—fell away in fragmented layers, the heady scent of pine and rich spices triggering a vivid fantasy.Rough bark cut through the layers of wool and cotton, the unforgiving surface chafing at the tender skin on my back. I twined my fingers through the thick layers of hair at the back of his neck and held him to me, his glorious lips a perfect balm to the nagging irritation at my back. The scent of rich spices, fresh air and pine swirled around him like some kind of erotic love drug, luring me in. It was intoxicating. He was intoxicating, and the only thing I cared about at that moment.Goosebumps spattered across my skin, my heart fluttering like a hummingbird's wings inside my ribs as he pulled his lips from my mouth, trailing soft, whisper-light kisses down my jaw.He groaned, a deep masculine sound that sent my blood boiling and my nether regions screaming for attention. There wasn't an inch of skin covering my body that didn't ache for his touch, cry out for his kiss. He was a master in the art of sexual warfare, a damn guerilla fighter—lethal, proficient and fucking sexy as hell. The buttons holding the top portion of my dress closed exploded from the annoying fabric keeping us apart, and it was all I could do to breathe, to keep my wits about me, when he laid siege to my chest with his mouth.Strong, capable hands tugged at the layers of fabric covering my legs, the hideous skirt and unwanted barrier between my ready and willing girlie bits and the salvation that was him. Warm, rough fingers grasped both sides of my ass, lifting me off the ground. My legs snaked around his waist, and I cried out in exquisite relief as he ground his swollen cock against my aching core. Oh, God. I was so ready. I wanted him. No! I needed him…like air. Without him I'd asphyxiate, I'd cease to live…I'd die. I sucked in a ragged breath. "Please, Gabriel…"
