Being an Indie author, one has to keep up with the growing trends in online publishing. Keeping up with these trends can be tricky at times. One of the challenges is knowing when to put your books into Kindleunlimited on Amazon and when to leave them on all the other sites.

Personally, I would love to have my books on all the sites at all times. One of my favorite things during Christmas shopping is to sneak into Barnes&Noble, get a cup of Starbucks, and browse through the books.

Not to mention, I think there should be a The Read show like The Voice, where you can download your book from iTunes and watch it go up the charts.

Then there is GooglePlay...Kobo... Basically, I would love to be a New York Times bestselling author and not have to worry about whether or not to have my books exclusively on Amazon in Kindleunlimited.

But the reality of the situation for me is that most of my readers come from Amazon. When I promote, the places where I promote mainly aim at Amazon readers. So, I go where I can find the most readers...which at the moment seems to be Amazon.

For the avid reader, Kindleunlimited is a wonderful program. You can have my books for FREE if your in the program. For an Indie author, Kindleunlimited can be a great tool in growing your readership.

Under my penname, Colleen Connally, I have all my books in Kindleunlimited, but that is going to change soon. I'm going to mix things up in the coming months and take on the challenge of growing my readership. For the time being, Secret Lives Series will continue under Kindleunlimited, but I'm going to be making a few changes.

Good Morning! Beautiful day...somewhere I'm sure. It's a rainy day here.

For the last few months, I have been dealing with a hand issue, my right hand. I had surgery the first of April. Finally, I got my cast off...but I have discovered its still going to be a while before my typing is back to normal.

So, I'm just a little slower getting anything done.

With the release of Set Fire to the Rain, Winds of Betrayal comes to a close. I feel it closes a chapter on my life. This series has been a part of my life for fifteen years. I have always had a deep fascination with the American Revolution. I hope my love for this country is reflected in my writings.

Writing historicals is my comfort zone. I love immersing myself in the past...an escape perhaps.

There are a couple of things I realize. I write different than most historical romance writers. It's my voice.

For the last couple of years, I have focused on my writing name, Jerri Hines. Now, I'm turning my attention back to Colleen Connally.

I did release the second book in Boston's Crimes of Passion Series, Framed, last September to little fanfare. My mother was ill last fall.

No excuses...just the reason.

I'm coming back...taking on the challenge of breaking into the world of suspense and thrillers! I'm working a new series...new book under Colleen Connally—Scream for the Camera! Don't have a release date, but will let you know as soon as I do.

Set Fire to the Rain has been one of the hardest books I have ever written, but I have finally completed the conclusion of my Winds of Betrayal series. Winds of Betrayal has been my baby for such a long time and has gone through many changes over the years, especially the titles to the books. The first book alone has been titled Patriot Secrets, The Cry For Freedom, Embrace of the Enemy, Winds of Betrayal 1&2 to simply—Winds of Betrayal.
I don’t believe it will be surprising to know that the Culper Spy Ring has been my inspiration for Winds of Betrayal. But my story is purely fiction. The history, though, I have tried my best to stay true to the facts as well as I could. The time line may have been stretched in places to fit my story.
I have spent so much time with these characters. I feel as though they are family. I started writing this series almost fifteen years ago when all that could be found on the internet about the Culper Spy ring was a single page with only a couple of paragraphs dedicated to these brave men and women. In my research, I discovered just how important spying was to General Washington, but, also, how deadly to those that laid their lives on the line if they were caught—on either side. The Americans were not the only ones to spy. The British had their own spies, but I told this story from the American point of view.
When I began this series, I was going to stop at Benedict Arnold’s betrayal. I wanted readers to feel the sting of Arnold’s betrayal. Arnold went from being the beloved American hero at Saratoga to the most hated man in the colonies. Had his treachery been successful, Arnold’s betrayal could have handed victory to the British. But after I finished The Heavens Shall Fall , I realized there was too many loose ends. So, I finished my series with the last major battle at Yorktown. 
I am not a historian, but a lover of history. I feel that the sacrifices of those before us should never be forgotten. The American Revolution has always fascinated me. Our Founding Fathers surely need to be admired for laying the foundation for such a great country. I hope I have done justice to their memories.

I positively enjoyed Seductive Secrets. Colleen Connally spins a tale that scoops up the reader and transports them into action, romance and intrigue. There is so much more that makes this story spectacular. It is filled with deception, treachery, romance, intense drama, and detailed characters that pull in the reader from the beginning until the end. The secondary players add great finesse to the storyline. I have to admit it was completely hard to put this book down. This story kept me on the edge of my seat as Alyce goes through the days trying to learn the truth. The suspense kept my heart racing as Alyce meets someone that knows something about her father. It turns out to be an attempt on her life. I literally held my breath until I knew she was alright.
Later in the story, Haynes takes Alyce through a journey of sensual feelings for Lord Julian. Alyce discovers that she is falling in love. And through the description Haynes uses throughout her story, I experience the same feelings Alyce felt. Haynes was able to make me place myself in this story to feel as if all the action that took place happened to me. I especially like when I read a book and can feel that way.
There is one scene toward the end of the book that made me not able to put the story down--when Alyce is led to old ruins at Colonel Tolworthy's estate by someone trying to cause her harm. I stayed up late reading the last section of the book because I simply could not quit reading until I knew the outcome.
