 Today has been a good day... and it's my birthday. 

Finished up my edits on my next release with Whispers of a Legend. Time of the Nuxvenom should go out as schedule in November. Now my attention will turn to the next book in the Secret Lives series...

Promise next book out after Time of the Nuxvenom will be a release of Colleen Connally's.

I's so excited. I've never been on Pixel of Ink! I'm like a little kid. I can have my badge now!

Not a bad week...not at all. Another Night Falls was released with Whiskey Creek Press, too. So all in all don't have a thing to complain about.

For anyone that doesn't know, I have a couple of pen names...long story, but Another Night Falls is the third book in the Tides of Charleston Series.

Giving Seductive Secrets away has killed me. I love this book. Saying that I just wanted to acknowledge a milestone for Seductive Secrets...including when it was Daughter of Deceit and now as Seductive Secrets it has gone over 100,000 downloads!

100,000! Wow! Thanks to everyone. This journey with Seductive Secrets has been a long one. Ups and downs, but isn't that what life is? If we don't have the downs, we wouldn't enjoy the good times. Perhaps, though, the good times wouldn't mean as much as they do if I hadn't had to go through this experience.

Oh! Don't get me wrong. The attacks upon me and my writings haven't stop or will they in the near future. But my focus now is back with my writing. My husband has always told me to focus of the things I can control and not the things I can't. So writing it is!Have a good one! Keep reading!

Dawg gone it! I forgot insect repellent. The mosquitoes are huge and swarming around me, but what did I expect when I volunteered for this assignment to interview alpha males in romance novels? So, I bet you guys are wondering where I'm at. I know...I know I thought I was supposed to be going on an assignment to a contemporary romance...but no. The new girl, Arabella, took that assignment. She's flying off to her assignment in someone's private jet!!! She's getting to cover those Billionaire series and living the life of luxury. Where am I? I’ll tell you. In the midst of mosquito heaven somewhere in the backwoods of the Carolinas! Okay, okay, I confess I overslept...again. Yes, Frank, my boss, warned me. I didn’t listen. So now I've got to go find this doctor. I ask you who is going to be interested in an army doctor back in 1780?

“Where the hell did you come from?”

Abruptly, I turned and came face to face with my objective…maybe my day wasn’t going to be as bad as I first thought. No, not bad at all. Tall, unquestionably handsome, and those eyes, those mesmerizing blue eyes… Deep breath. You’re here for a reason. Remember your cover story. Questions.

“Dr. Corbett?” I asked. “Dr. Jonathan Corbett?”

“Depends on whose asking.”

His response was short and to the point. I nodded. No nonsense. Not bad…a challenge, but not bad. I gave him a small smile.

“My name is Missy Elliot. I heard you served with the Continental Army up north. Saratoga. Served under General Washington. My father runs a small paper in Charleston…I mean, Charles Town.” Okay, slow down. Frank’s gonna kill you if you screw this up. Keep your facts straight. Charleston wasn’t called Charleston until after the war. After the war! I paused for a moment to compose myself. These time changes were gonna be the death of me. “He’s sick at the moment. Gout.”

“Not uncommon,” Dr. Corbett answered me. “But it doesn’t tell me why you’re here. It’s not safe for an unescorted woman. To be honest with all the raiders around this area it’s not safe for anybody.”

“I assure you I will be as brief as I can. My father wanted to interview you. A person of interest in these parts, Dr. Corbett. Something of a legend. It’s not often you hear of a fighin’ doctor.”

“I’m a doctor first. The fighting part just happened. Sometimes you don’t have a choice.”

“From the way I heard it you gave no thought to yourself, but grabbed a rifle and led a group of…”

“That was in Saratoga.” Jonathan Corbett cut me off.

Doesn’t like to talk about himself. Brave, courageous and humble. Nice, but it’s my job to get him to talk. “Patience, Dr. Corbett. The good people of the Carolinas want to understand you, the Virginian doctor. Is there any truth to the rumor that you came down here for a woman? A Rebekah Morse?”

No answer, just a stare that would have killed me if it had been a bullet. Asked and answered. “I apologize if you think I’m being noisy, but you have to admit you are an intriguing person. It would be quite understandable your first wife died…”

“I don’t talk about Catherine. Now you will have to excuse me. I have to get back to a patient.”

I glanced around. What patient? I timed this interview in-between battles. Where was I anyway? We weren’t close to his unit’s camp. Wait. There was a small cabin up the road a piece. Was someone coming out of the door? A broad muscular man ducked down to step outside… he wore no shirt which gave me a full view of his firm abs; his sweat glistened in the sunlight. Oh, yeah. My day was getting better and better.

“Who's this, Doc?” the man asked from the porch.

Dr. Corbett...Jonathan...looked back at me. He shrugged, “Not quite sure, but she’ll be leaving. Won’t ca, ma’am? I’m doing a favor for a friend that needed a doctor. Not interesting I’m sure to anyone.”

“I think the readers...for my...father's paper, would love it if I included...your friend…”

“Where are my manners? Sumner Meador, this is…”

My heart fluttered.  Sumner Meador  clicked in my head....Tides of Charleston Series...Hero in book three,  Another Night Falls , soon to be released. Oh...oh...oh...can we say exclusive? Then Sumner's next statement  sent shivers down my spine.


"Doc, don't have time for this. Jake's seems to be doing better, but we need to get him out of here and back to the British before you know who discovers him."


I almost shouted for glee! I knew it! I just knew that Jonathan Corbett had to have been the doctor that saved Jake!  Jake Penington , alpha hero of Books One and Two of the Tides of Charleston series. Headlines for sure!


"Looks as though we'll have to put this interview on hold at the moment, ma'am," Doctor Corbett said. 


But I won't be that easily dismissed. Oh, no! I won't leave this jackpot...three leading heroes converged into one spot....to be continued....

TOP CHOICE AWARDI've made it no secret that SEDUCTIVE SECRETS was once published as Daughter of Deceit under my pen name Carrie James Haynes. What I haven't talked about is why. Believe me I have my reasons and they are extremely good reasons. I also have extremely good reasons I have to remain quiet. I am being told to be patient and all will come together soon.

So...why mention that Seductive Secrets was once Daughter of Deceit. I want to put up some of the reviews from Book Blog sites...I was so extremely proud of these awards. I'm extremely proud of Seductive Secrets. When it was under the title of Daughter of Deceit, it was in the Amazon Select program. On its free days it had just under 29,000 downloads. Under Seductive Secrets, I don't have the exact count because I can't see the all the numbers from Smashwords because they haven't been reported...but the numbers I have puts the downloads to around 45,000. In total that would add up to around 74,000 + downloads.

This has been far above any expectations I had when I put Seductive Secrets free. I believe this fact is even more amazing because Seductive Secrets has not been on one major free site...It hasn't been on Pixtel of Ink, Ereaders News Today...basically I believe it has done this well because of the Coffee Time Romance CTRR Award and Risque Reviews Top Choice Award.

One more thing...thank you. Thank you for taking the time to download Seductive Secrets. I truly hope you enjoy the read...

Give Away a Book FREE...Good or Bad Idea?

Amazon, Barnes and Noble, SmashwordsSEDUCTIVE SECRETS is FREE! It doesn't have specific days its free...no, it's free. When I first made the decision to go Indie, I realized that giving away a book was a must. When you're an author, your major challenge is getting readers to read your work. There is an ocean of books out there...you have do something to call attention to yourself.

Last October, I released my first Indie venture. It was free. I thought I had done my due, but here I am again giving away a book. Why would I do it again? Especially since I'm not the fastest writer which may be attributed to my networking or my full time job or family...

But let's look at Seductive Secrets. It took me a year to write. A year and here I am giving it away. A second free book...the question why? What possible benefit do I gather from this move?

First, I really didn't have a choice...which I'm not going to go into at the moment. What is important to me at this time is that readers have the opportunity to read my works. I do so appreciate the response I'm receiving from Seductive Secrets. It has done my confidence a world of good and I really hope you enjoy Seductive Secrets...that is extremely important to me.

Just a few fun facts...since it went free on Amazon it has climbed the rankings. It has gone as high as #31 on Free Kindle; #3 historical romance; # 6 in romantic suspense...not bad for a book that hasn't appeared on any of the top free sites, not yet anyway. It has done well on Barnes and Noble also.

Now if this had been a strategic move, I would have another book releasing right after it. Seductive Secrets is historical romance/romantic suspense with a tad of paranormal thrown in. I do have the next book in this series in the works. Broken Legacy will be ready either late 2012 or early 2013.

Its been a while since I've settled into a historical romance this good. Between the gripping mystery surrounding the scandal of Alyce Hythe's name and her passionate romance with Julian Casvelyn, Seductive Secrets had me hooked. Unpredictable catastrophe and suspicion followed Alyce throughout the novel, at every new page there seemed to be a new development to the scandal surrounding her and I absolutely loved it! Unlike so many other novels I was refreshed by the fact that Seductive Secrets was not predictable; I had no idea where the story was going to go next, every clue to the mystery was a surprise! As to the romance surrounding Alice Hythe and Julian Casvelyn... well lets just sa,y it was very steamy... in a good way. Overall I would definitley recommend Seductive Secrets to anyone who likes a novel where romance and scandalous mystery have a starring role.

NEW COVER FOR SEDUCTIVE SECRETS

Yesterday, I got my new cover for Seductive Secrets. Love it! Went to Jimmy Thomas' sight. It was so easy and I believe the cover looks awesome. Been waiting for a while for Seductive Secrets to come up on Barnes and Noble. Smashwords said to give it time, but it been over two weeks since its been sent out. Patience is a virtue!

Seductive Secrets has been released before under another title and another pen name.There are reasons for my move. It was first published as Daughter of Deceit under my other pen name. I hope there isn't too much confusion. I'm trying to get it up on Amazon as I write.

But for right now...don't you love the new cover?



I'm also working diligently on the next book in the Secret Lives Series, Broken Legacy . Hope to have it out this fall.
