Attention: Tony Awards: Here he comes: The Other Man is now a Play!
Hi, Everyone. Bet you thought I got lost. Nope, I've just been busy writing. Mainly the final installment in the Lovers and Liars gay historical series: Kindred Spirit. The book comes out in August from JMS Books, and I'll be letting you know when it happens.
Today's short post is especially appropriate since very soon we'll be watching the annual Tony Awards. Here's the news: All of the terrific writers connected with the anthology, The Other Man: 21 Writers Speak Candidly About Sex, Love, Infidelity, & Moving On,
have something to shout about.
A play adaptation of The Other Man is now in the works by a wonderful playwright, Bernard Rice, in Chicago. As I have more news, I'll be sending it your way. The three essays chosen to be dramatized are:
"A Brief History of the Divorce Party"--Rob Byrnes
"Last Tango in Cambridge"--Lewis DeSimone
"And Then There Was One"--Rodney Ross
I couldn't be happier for the authors whose work was chosen for the adaptation as well as the 17 other wonderful contributors in The Other Man. If you want to read about real life, then this is the book for you.
Till we meet again,
The Best is Yet to Come,

Your Favorite LGBT books--Then and Now
Hi, Readers and Writers and Welcome to today's very short Goodreads post. I have a question I want to ask you about LGBT lit.
Q: What is one of your favorite LGBT-themed books from the past? What is a current favorite within the last decade or so?
I think I'd have to say Maurice
by E. M. Foster for a great classic read. For something new, I really loved the very romantic Almost Like Being in Love
by Steve Kluger for it's undeniable sweetness.
Let's find out now about your own favorites.
Glad to be back here. Hope I haven't worn out my welcome.
The best is yet to come,
Paul

The Mysterious Ways of Hollywood
Hi and Welcome to my Goodreads blog. For a Good Man's Love
, my gay romantic mystery, came out this week, and I wanted to give you some background information on the genesis of the story.
Think it must have been in the late 1980s when I heard on the news that one of my favorite actors had died. No details other than he had passed on.
He wasn't a huge film star, mainly Broadway, but someone you'd know if I mentioned his name.
I rushed to the video store and bought several of his films for my collection. Most were black and white oldies from the 1950s.
Then sometime later, I saw his name again in the Entertainment section of our local paper. He was starring in a big budget film. I couldn't believe it at first, but "That was Hollywood," I thought.
Years later I'd remember this weird happening, expand on the idea, and develop it into a story.
Hope you'll give "For a Good Man's Love" a look. Here's a short blurb and a link to JMS Books should you want to read an excerpt or explore the story further.
"Actor Harry Anders’ movie career is in full swing. His fans are legion, and his talent attracts first-rate directors and producers. With an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe under his belt, it seems he can do no wrong.
He also has a more than satisfying personal life. He marries Alec Walker -- the love of his life -- and romances his agent, Jake Navarro, on the side. Branching out, Harry turns to TV and nabs an iconic role in a hit detective series destined to run for years. The gods are indeed good to him.
But gods can be fickle. Without warning, the network cancels his series. Leading roles become scarce, and Harry’s marriage crumbles under the pressure. In desperation, he agrees to a plan of lies, deceit, and double-crosses that ultimately leads to murder. How far will Harry go for a good man’s love?"
Until next time.

Paul

Taking a Short Break
Hi, and thank you for checking back with me. I've decided to take a short break from posting. At least till I finish the writing projects I've got going. I've been reading a ton of books over the holidaze and I can recommend a few to you.
One of the best LGBT books I read this year is The River Within
by Baxter Clare Trautman. This is a terrific story of a battle fatigued journalist who returns to the States for some R and R. The characters literally leap off the page and you won't be able to put this book down. I guarantee it. River was a runner up in this year's Rainbow Awards and I can see why. Don't miss it.
Another book, The Girl with a Clock for a Heart
is a mystery thriller and a fun ride I recommend you take if you loved the film Body Heat from the 1980's. The book features a central female character who will grab you in her clutches and won't let go. And an everyman central character, ala the quintessential Hitchcock protagonist, who gets in way over his head. Loved it. A fast read and a good way to spend a few hours. Very entertaining.
Okay, I couldn't resist chatting with you. I miss this and will return soon as I can.
The best is yet to come,
Paul

ENDINGS
Welcome and Happy New Year to all my followers and your families.
Since we’ve come to the end of another year, we’re mainly talking endings today. Specifically book endings and series endings. Here’s what a few writers have to say on the subject:
“It is always important to know when something has reached its end. Closing circles, shutting doors, finishing chapters, it doesn't matter what we call it; what matters is to leave in the past those moments in life that are over.”
Paulo Coehlo, The Alchemist
“The feeling is less like an ending than just another starting point.”
Chuck Palahniuk, Choke
“Every ending is a beginning. We just don't know it at the time.”
Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie
Q: Do you have a favorite quote on endings? If so I’d love to hear it.
I’m doing a guest post today, Tuesday, December 30, at All Romance Café talking about ending my Lovers and Liars
gay historical romance series. Also offering two e book giveaways. Hope you’ll drop by and chat. Just leave a comment and you’re entered automatically in the giveaways. See you there.

E Book Giveaway: A CHRISTMAS IN KENT
Welcome to my Tuesday short blog. Today I’m doing another holiday e book giveaway. A Christmas in Kent
is a short novella in my Lovers and Liars
gay historical romance series.
I know you’re busy shopping and preparing for the holidays, but sure hope you’ll take time to participate in the giveaway that deadlines this Saturday, 12:00 AM EST.
Here’s what Lisa Horan at The Novel Approach had to say about the book:
“Paul Alan Fahey has followed up his latest novella in the Lovers and Liars wartime series with Christmas in Kent a delightful little holiday coda that’s as cozy as a fire in the hearth and as merry as the holidays could possibly be in World War II England. Glad tidings of great joy have befallen the little family that will continue to grow through the loving ties that bind them all together, not only by biology but by the unconditional acceptance of Leslie and Edward and the love they must hide from the rest of the world...If you’ve followed this series from the beginning, be sure to add this Christmas treat to the mix, but beware—it may warm the cockles of your heart and bring a smile to your face.”
So do take a chance on Christmas in Kent.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season.
The best is yet to come!
Warmly,
Paul

Everything’s Comin’ Up Rainbows!
Today we’re celebrating rainbows. If you haven’t already heard, the 2014 Rainbow Awards are out! I’ve been blessed in the past with two Rainbow Awards: one for my lesbian historical, The View from 16 Podwale Street
and The Other Man: 21 Writers Speak Candidly About Love, Sex, Infidelity, & Moving On
, an anthology of personal essays. This year, Lovers and Liars,
my gay historical romance series, received an Honorable Mention. I’m thrilled to be included with all the other literary luminaries.
My heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and runners up!
The driving force behind this annual event is Ms. Elisa Rolle. Elisa has almost single-handedly changed the literary landscape for LGBT writers everywhere—and she’s done it in grand style. Thank you, Elisa, from all of us.
This year’s competition raised almost $11,500 for LGBT charities. An unbelievable accomplishment! (I’m using lots of exclamations and I mean every one!)
2014 was a banner year for Elisa. In addition to helming the annual contest, she is the author of the much acclaimed Days of Love: Celebrating LGBT History One Story at a Time.
Elisa’s book is an immensely ambitious and validating work of gay history that chronicles more than 700 LGBT couples down through the ages. Another achievement of immense proportions. How does she do it?
Elisa, what would we do without you? I hope we never have to find out.
You can read the full list of the 2014 Rainbow Award winners and runners up below. Be sure to keep a pen handy. You’ll want to jot down a ton of titles for future reading. (I know I did.)

Until next week for a giveaway of my holiday novella, A Christmas In Kent
, I want to thank all of you for following my little blog this year. If you haven’t already guessed I’m a newbie at this. Proving once again you really can teach a very old dog a new trick.
See you next week.
The best is yet to come,
Paul

FIRST HOLIDAY E BOOK GIVEAWAY AND MORE
Hi, I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. I sure did.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be giving away copies of two of my e books.
The first is my latest lesbian fiction: Getting Gertie Out
and the second, later in the month, is a short novella part of my Lovers and Liars gay historical romance series, A Christmas in Kent
.
First, let me say that the giveaway does not in any way require you to comment on this blog, or stand on your head and twirl, or any other gimmick. All you do is click on the Rafflecopter icon and sign up for your chance to win one of the e books.
This week we’re starting with a GIVEAWAY of Getting Gertie Out
.
About three months ago, I read a beautiful, heartfelt article by Marie Cartier about her ageing lesbian friend, Rae. The story truly opened my eyes about LGBT eldercare. And after more research, I knew I had to write Getting Gertie Out .
Gertie’s story, though fictional, isn’t so different from the personal stories I read online: accounts by lesbians, gays, and transgender individuals, who after losing life partners, husbands or wives, often found themselves ill, alone, and at the mercy of an insensitive healthcare system, not to mention the wrath of other elderly residents and facility staff members.
As a married senior gay man, my purpose in writing Gertie’s story was twofold: I wanted to shed light on a subject you might not be aware of—as I was in the beginning—and to offer support to those LGBT communities working toward the goal of providing safe havens for their elderly seniors.
Okay, I hope you’ll take a chance on winning a copy of Gertie. Since it’s the holiday season, I’m feeling especially generous, and may give away more than one copy. What can you lose? Besides I’d like to know what you, my readers, think of this new book.
Just click the Rafflecopter icon and you're ready to enter. Deadline is Saturday December 6th 12 AM PST.
Until next week…
