Rejection Hurts
So, about a month ago, I decided to try my luck in getting published in a magazine and an anthology under my real name. I figured it was time to take a risk and put myself out there, looking for acceptance, and devoted time and effort into these short stories that I had rarely done before.
So, naturally, when they rejected my submissions, I felt like I was hit by a brick being hurled my way by a professional baseball pitcher. I mean, it's like someone took out my heart and stamped on it a few times. They said the stories simply weren't a good fit, but was that really the case?
Or did I simply write a bad story?
For all those interested in seeing them, I've posted them on my Fiction Press page.
The Responsibilities of a Witch is a coming of age story about a young girl chosen to become the next Witch of the Woods. She has to adapt to the responsibilities thrust upon her, whether she wanted them or not.
Flash & Shadows is a superhero story about a young man who has powers more suited for villains that heroes, and in a world where superpowers are slowly becoming a thing, he's faced with that burden in knowing his powers would label him as a villain despite how much he'd wish otherwise.
