Interview with author Jacob Rundle
Jacob, tell me a little bit about yourself and how long you’ve been a writer.
Well, I’ve always had this urge to tell stories. My imagination has always been a vivid vessel. Stories come in and out of my brain constantly. I also have to say that being a lover of art and the written word since I was a child also motivated me tell the stories that I wanted to see. I feel as though the industry goes through patches of pumping out the same material because it’s “hot” at the moment. So, I strove t...

Caught short.
Last year I was employed by one of the biggest home improvement stores in the country, working ridiculous hours and being pushed to the limits by management who tried to convince us that the pay was great and that it was a prestigious job. It wasn’t, but I was damn good at it and I enjoyed it, rolling around southern England in 12-18 tonne lorries through streets and roads the vehicles weren’t fit for, but we were reminded that the goods had to be delivered no matter what. We dealt with shit...

I need an artist for my book!
I won’t go into the long and boring tale of how my zombie novel Isle of The Dead came about, as it’s been documented before, and I’ll probably do so again once it’s secured film rights and made me a millionaire, but until then, just know that the book was finished over a year ago, and edited by my late friend Rob M. Miller, and that it’s ready for publication.
I sent it out to all of the horror publishing houses I could think of, knowing full well that many of them are tired of the zombie gen...

Truck Driver: ‘Silly Stuff…’
It’s hard moving away from a place you called home for three decades, leaving behind friends, family, and familiarity. But sometimes you’ve got to leave, to move on to better times, to get away from the holes you’d dug yourself into. It didn’t stop me missing the Isle of Wight and the silly things in life, though. Things like a loo-roll train my youngest son, Bam, made me when he was even younger to keep my pens in. Things like a picture of my girlfriend and of my kids. Stuff I’d stupidly le...

Truck Driver #1: February 2018
(Alright, let’s get you all caught up, whether you know who I am, or have just stumbled across me.)
Up until last November I was a taxi driver on the Isle of Wight. A good one. But with a self-destruct button couldn’t stop hitting.. Suddenly, after 11 years of service, and through my own stupidity, I found myself without a job. It was quite a shite/surreal feeling.
I fell back on my HGV licence, one I’d obtained a decade before (yes, while I was a taxi driver, maths fans), and I started looki...

The Power Rangers @ Isle of Wight Comic Con!
The first annual Isle of Wight Comic Con held here on our own very sunny, beautiful island, run by Ben Belton, was a total success. The capacity was full to bursting with cosplayers, stall-holders, celebrities, and other like-minded folk. I managed to use my writery-ability to snag myself a press pass so I could interview the many and famous who attended. But there was one condition… Bam, my ten year-old son, got to ask the questions as well!
And so, to our first panel… The Power Rangers!

Ryde Around Town – The Duck
If you’re looking for a high quality breakfast this half-term (or for the rest of the year round depending on when you read this!) then look no further than The Duck here in my home-town of Ryde.

Run By Charlie (Chaz) Bartlett and his wife Helen, they are also helped by their daughters Molly and Amy, the latter who runs the media and advertising side of the business. Add this to Charlie’s many years on the island (he attended Swanmore middle school, has been head chef at The Garlic Farm as w...

ESCAPE FROM Z-LABS!
It’s hard to write a review about Z-Lab without giving too much away, so I’ll list the emotions myself and my three buddies went through over the course of just over an hour. Here goes:
Curiosity
Fear
Puzzlement
Confusion
Thrill
Joy
More confusion
A little horror
A little more fear
And then a lot of joy
And pretty much in that order.
My crew consisted of myself, my oldest son Cameron, and our friends Adam and Emily. I genuinely went into Z-Lab thinking it would be a breeze, and I was...
